- My instrument cluster broke and took up the rest of my exhaust budget so that will have to wait for a while. Hope you guys enjoy the video. If you do, drop a like, comment, and join the Fischtank for more content.

OK so despite being an 84... you have bought well, and smart. You found an amazing color and the most important you have a manual car WITH the sought after Z51 suspension pkg. This alone will keep you car's value to the higher end of the spectrum. Take care of it, it looks amazing. They are nice machines to learn on and to work on. I enjoy your vids, they are well made and show that you have thouroully thought of your plan for this car. Keep the vids coming. Show us how you get things fixed and all.
Thanks. I keep meaning to make one on the exhaust but it's not quite finished yet. Hopefully by the end of April everything will be together.
Just one suggestion if I may. You said something about "shifting fast" in one of your vids. The weakest link on any car is the trans. You never want to be forceful with the trans. Shifting fast will not make you faster. Get your wallet ready if you are rough with a car's trans. I just fiished the clutch on mine and I can tell you that it is not a job you want to tackle unless you absolutely need to. And very $$$$$ if you have it done. BTW, for what its worth, been a race instructor for over 25 yrs.
I'm looking FWD to your next vid.
Yeah. Sometimes the trans shifts a little weird or it feels extremely notchy but it hasn't broken yet. Fingers crossed it doesn't.
I’ve had the same issues! The only difference it’s caused my check engine light to gone on for error 12. I’m going to have my fixed asap! Thank you for this!
Glad the video helped. Mine has functioned perfectly since I got it put back in and it's always the first thing people talk about when they see the car
@@jfisch what’s funny is I fixed the same things as you did. New battery and alternator. I replaced all bad wiring and even the ignition switch. My cluster would dim then light right back up. And I had error 12 with my check engine. I didn’t realized that the dash had a power supply and can send the wrong info to your Ecm as a result! I contacted batee to see what can be done to send it in. I want leds when I get it fixed
@@stevegili sounds like a good plan. Hopefully he passes his business on before he retires or we'll be sol
Good on yah kid. Nice car.
Thanks. Spent a lot of time working on it over Christmas break.
Good job kid 👍🏻
Subbed MA dude
I'm removing my cluster in my 86' conv. as we speak. my question was going to be what type of set screw is used to hold the headlight switch knob on? Thanks for your video. Now I see that bate does great work.
Yeah I don't think there was any screw holding it in. It just kind of pops off if I'm thinking about the same thing you are.
Like the video man. Your car looks great! I just bought a 1984 C4. It’s all original, and unrestored. Love the car. I only got to drive it 2 days before storing it for the winter. Lol Did you have Batee put LED bulbs in your cluster? I need to replace a couple bulbs in mine, and was thinking about going with LEDs. Thanks. Keep those videos coming.
I'm glad you got an '84. They're overall great cars. Batee is great and I believe the guys name is Brian. I've done business with him several times but the bulbs I did myself. I went with the xenon from his website and not the LEDs but I'm guessing either set is fine. The hardest part is getting the cluster out of the car.
J Fisch ok. I heard the LEDs don’t dim, so I’ll probably go with the xenon. Thanks for the reply.
Was hoping I could get some advice. I have a 1984 C4 corvette and the dash works “sometimes” and there’s no working lights so when it gets dark I can’t see anything. If I use my turn signal or flip the switch to see my oil temp, the dash glitches out. I would assume it’s a connection issue. As well as new dash lights so I can see at night. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!
I would contact Batee. I believe that is correct. His website is batee.com or something similar. That's who I sent mine to. He could probably help diagnose it over the phone as well.
J Fisch thank you sir I appreciate the advice!
I own a 85 but mines the cluster blinks and if a hit the under it comes back on I don’t know if is not making enough ground because my voltage is 11.2 it may be the alternator , I will like to know other than that everything works . Good luck !
11.2 seems low. I'd start by taking it somewhere to have your battery and alternator tested. My cluster went crazy before my battery died. If it's not that then you could check the grounds or send it off to Batee.
what muffler do you have on it

i own a 88 300zx and i’m about to sell it for an 84 corvette i’m a junior in HS and i don’t know too much about cars but i’m learning
The 300zx looks pretty cool but the Vette will definitely have more torque. If I were you I might look into a TPI car even though I love my '84. It's just that the TPI has more power stock. I haven't owned one though so I wouldn't know. Don't feel bad about not knowing much about cars. When I bought my '84 in February 2017, I was only 15. I didn't understand the real differences between CFI and TPI and when my friend said his '79 Camaro had a four barrel carb I asked if it had something to do with the exhaust because some cars have four exhaust tips. I literally knew nothing and am still learning even though I've had the car for almost two years. Just don't let a**holes get you down if you don't know something.
J Fisch alright thanks man
You could fix it yourself, they sell all the parts
Yeah I replaced the lights myself but I had no way to test what was wrong with it and I don't know how to solder. It was better to just send it in so I didn't make it worse. 😂
@@jfisch If it is the power then you need to know how to solder thats for sure... The digital dash is the most unreliable thing in the C4
@@XSpt1 well it's been fixed for over a year now so I think we're all good.
you never red line a engine. You blew your engine😕😕
My engine is fine. How does that relate to my instrument cluster?
@@jfisch excessive Heat when you Redline and then when you shut it off it heat soaks
Yeah, and how does that relate to my instrument cluster?
