My dad has an 84 with 44,000 miles. He mentioned selling it but I think it’s cool. It has all of the common 1984 issues (courtesy lights etc) but I’m going to bring it back to life & run it around a little, personally, I think it needs some bigger wheels & tires, side pipes & a huge cam but it’s not mine
@@bradleymaddy7380 whatever floats your boat 🤷🏼♂️ better to fix it up than sell it though
What muffler did you put on it?
@@TwentyFortySeven mid America motorworks quad power mufflers. Still love them
You must have some sort of problem I had one for years It didn't take two people to take it out You just had to use the wrench they gave you I took it up by myself all the time
@@darrenporsch just don't want to risk a $3500 piece of glass is all 😂
@@jfisch well don't tell people in the video it takes two people to take it out and spread misinformation cuz lots of people who don't have one will think that it's true
You need tires. The headers could have waited, you need tires. We won't even discuss the relative wisdom of buying an '84.
My uncle had an 84 cross fire vet, in red. The body style of C4 vets is timeless. I like that blue color.
@@docwillis1443 a red Corvette! Classic color. I like the blue too. And yeah you're right, the C4 body style is great for sure. I love how unique it is
Roof is one person job
Sweet ride bro ✌️
Thanks. Still rocking it 👍
I thought crossfire fuel injection would be one of the reasons to hate the 84 Corvette.
I love mine actually! It's fun to tune and runs well
Wow! I never heard about the positive side of crossfire enlighten please.
@@Otis-c9v it just runs 🤷🏼♂️ I put an EBL flash 2 in it so I can tune it like any other EFI. Had the throttle bodies rebuilt and injectors cleaned and it runs like a top
Hopefully she got a better owner that appreciates her.
This is one of the easiest cars in the world to work on this person should never work on a car he is a moron!!
As the owner of a white 1976 Corvette for nearly 35 years, by far the main problem I have with the C4 is looks. It doesn't have any. It's very bland and boring. To me the 1968-1977 Corvette was the best looking car ever made, even better than the Jaguar XKE and late '70s Ferrari 308 GTS (Magnum PI) It turns more heads than any other car. Everywhere I drive it, it gets a lot of attention. The C4 would have made a good third generation Camaro, but it's just nowhere near exotic enough for a Corvette.
Dude you got the 1984 Cross Fire Engine.... That's the problem
I kinda like it 🤷🏼♂️
You should try changing the plugs on a Subaru BRZ.
Ooooooo. Hard pass 😂 I'm not going to that much work for 4 cylinders idc how well they drive. I'd pay someone to do those. It is funny though since I made this video when I was so young. Now changing spark plugs seems super easy on this car
Awesome design.....looks like a dream sports car in red
It's a dream car for sure! Red ones look great but I'm glad mine doesn't grab that much attention. I wouldn't be able to afford the tickets haha
Plastics are mandated by the EPA to be degradable. They are required by law to crumble. Everything wrong with the C4 Vette comes straight from your beloved federal government.
my 86 ive been fixing I swear it's never seen any type of repairs in it's life it gives it self a new problem every week
Ha, that's how it goes with these cars. I've had mine since 2017 and it's on jack stands at home right now 🤷🏼♂️
Very Good!... #233 ✝ {9-6-2023}
I just bought a 1984 Corvette and it had 56,000 miles on it and I love it. Great deal $4,500. It's silver and grey. The only thing it's when you started as rough idle than you wait a little while then it smooths out really nice 👍❤️❤️ yours is very nice 👍
Mine used to do that too! I think it's pretty common and I'm honestly not sure what fixed it. It was either balancing the throttle bodies, replacing the coolant temp sensor in front of the intake, or getting an EBL Flash 2. Sounds like you got a great deal, these cars are a ton of fun. I wish you the best
@@jfisch thank you yeah I never had a Corvette before Chevy also own a 66 barracuda for speed so I haven't both of my driveway and I drive each one different days but I usually drive the Corvette mostly. Thanks for your video take care brother 👍❤️ PS I know four is spelled f o u r 😂😂😂
Hey dude I have a question, since you are running long tubes did you have to modify the ac bracket? Wanting to put longtubes on my 86 but a lot of people saying I need to fab a new ac bracket.
I did not have to, but the 84 have the CFI not the Tuned Port, so it may be different. It may also depend on what headers you get. Mine are Melrose and are no longer made
Dude I think I’ve seen your vett in hville
Harrisonville you mean? Maybe at some point but definitely not recently. I'm not too far from there so it is a possibility
@@jfisch I grew up in peculiar
Took delivery of my Z 51 I ordered April 83. I got it aug 12 Black red interior. Liked the car
That's awesome! I'm sure it was a great car
I have one.I don't like the crossfireinjection.I rather have the tpi.
What exact headers
Melrose Smoothflow. I don't think they make them anymore
All good reasons. You love what you love. Nice car
You should be spending the money on a engine swap!! You'll be a million times more happy with the crossfire gone!!! But nice car!! You're on the right track!
I just bought an 84 Vette. The exhaust is stock now but I want to change that. What did you do to your exhaust to make it sound better?
Melrose Smoothflow Exhaust system and Mid America Motorworks Quad Power Mufflers. Melrose doesn't make the headers anymore
where did you buy these headers off of? i cant seem to find any c4 melrose headers anywhere.
The EPA shut them down a few years ago so it's probably impossible to find a set now
The tool is definitely a ratchet…yours must just be broke or something lol
My tool is just a simple handle. No mechanism or anything
The 1985 Corvette is a better buy as you get the tune port injection, no more crossfire and the steering wheel is a bit thicker which I prefer, most people back in the day prefer the clear roof as it was impressive to the ladies back then. Mind you most people's cars did not have a removable roof that was clear and since the car was still considered new back then there weren't those stress fractures you mentioned in the glass roof.
Knowing what I know now I generally recommend an 88-89 car to people. Not only is that the best the TPI was, but there's also a lot of potential suspension upgrades on the 87 and later cars
I was in 7th grade when these cars came out and they were technologically miles ahead of most cars on the road during that time. Horsepower wasn't bad considering similar cars had 190hp, we were slowly coming out of the seventies where horsepower was dismal for over a decade
I’ve had the same issues! The only difference it’s caused my check engine light to gone on for error 12. I’m going to have my fixed asap! Thank you for this!
Glad the video helped. Mine has functioned perfectly since I got it put back in and it's always the first thing people talk about when they see the car
@@jfisch what’s funny is I fixed the same things as you did. New battery and alternator. I replaced all bad wiring and even the ignition switch. My cluster would dim then light right back up. And I had error 12 with my check engine. I didn’t realized that the dash had a power supply and can send the wrong info to your Ecm as a result! I contacted batee to see what can be done to send it in. I want leds when I get it fixed
@@stevegili sounds like a good plan. Hopefully he passes his business on before he retires or we'll be sol
the hood is 105 lbs the shock lifts help greatly. I have an 84 also. just fighting with the cross-fire injection. boo hoo
Hope you get it worked out. The injection hasn't caused me any issues yet
ur funny.
Thanks
Junk
Thank you for your input sir
I love my 1991 Corvette it has the L98
KEEP IT
Still have it 👍
I love my first 55 Chevy. I have a 75 Corvette, and a 82 collectors edition, it wasn't planned, but I think they are cool , I love the first c4, 1984. It's the first real race car Corvette, keep it, learn it. Historical.
Thanks, sounds like you have quite the collection
My 82 has cross fire injection, it's runs AWSOME, just get a code reader, change censors, ( they are old). And be changing vacuum lines, nobody hardly knows this 2 year only system, it's great to have something so rare. Any, keep making vids, I'll keep watching bud!
My 1984 marks the wrong gas and when it's low on gas during turns it turns off sometimes
That's completely normal on these cars. I can't do donuts if my tank is at half. I don't think they have any baffles in them
I love them.
I love mine too haha
"Getting better headers is a lot of money" man it's a $2,000-$5,000 car... it's not gonna break the bank. I spent way more modifying a new Volkswagen than a C4...
Great car, but at 205hp it’s just too weak. I got the 1988 which makes 245hp and I’d say that’s pretty good.
Torque wins races 👀
@@TheCosmicGuy0111 Yeah and it made 290lb-ft while the TPI 1985-1990 made 340lb-ft 1984 wasn’t winning any races. The damn thing did the 1/4 in 15.2 seconds @ 90mph
I figured you’d dislike the turning radius
At this point I've gotten used to it but I've gotten used to everything else as well
Wait till the cars made now are 40 Years olds, oh wait there all in the shop right now as you speak.
Man that spark plug part aged well huh like a nice crunchy glass a milk lol
It did not age well. Changing spark plugs takes maybe an hour 😂
@@jfisch I just got my 84 yesterday it's a running project in progress but I love it
@@saintsadd6667 that's awesome. It's definitely a unique car, lots of experience to gain
Where can i get that intake that adds 30hp?
Well it's not produced anymore so you can't unless you find a used one 😂
To me
Buy a Toyota Bitches🤫🤫🤫🤫🤔🤔😳😜😛😝😆😂🤨😅😎
Stop complaining! Any Corvette is a Good Corvette!😠
To .... Somebody , somewhere!
I want to buy it how much
15k and it's yours 😂😂😂
A Cam swap would make some good power
I'd like to do heads, cam, and intake but money and time are always limiters. 🤷🏼♂️
@@jfisch yup I agree, I plan on getting one of these vettes and ls swapping
So how did the head gasket situation go
I'm not sure. What head gasket situation? I made this video a long time ago and don't feel like rewatching it haha
