Oh boy, time to feel that feeling again that only your and Summoning Salt's videos give me. edit: I also plan to watch this whole series together with friends once you've released everything; probably together with pannen's Watch for Rolling Rocks video.
If you were as popular as summoningsalt I wouldn’t be surprised if all of UA-cam got together to watch the premiere of the rolling rocks part. That being said, I think people are missing the point of the CURRENT part lol… The transport cloning and bowser in the sky explanations absolutely blew my mind here and I can’t understate my excitement for not just the soon to come parts but the parts near the end since those the parts in the server I’ve been able to be a part of seeing live!!
It's worth noting that when Pannen was doing the massive Goomba cloning for the A press saves in BitS, while he was able to avoid the crashes on emulator, those TASes would've crashed on console due to how the N64's Reality Co-Processor handles graphics. I'm not talented enough to explain this properly, so I'll pull it from Ukikipedia: "The main display list buffer has two sides, the left side holds F3D commands the game runs, and the right side holds allocated buffers for matrices. When an object's graphics are drawn, 16 bytes are used from the left side and 64 from the right side for each separate 3D model from the object. These two sides overlap when there are too many of these models on screen, leading to both sides being overwritten with garbage data and invalid F3D commands." So, when you see stuff like the random flashing colors or shadows turning into boxes like at 8:47 and 32:10, those are moments where the game would've crashed on N64. Though, in the case of the first example, the game would've crashed way, WAY before then since the star count in the HUD has already disappeared (which is another emulator quirk that isn't properly reflected on console). This wasn't properly understood at the time, and was only later understood when Pannen looked into it after discovering an emulator exclusive state he referred to as "Game Corruption", which he has a couple of videos of on his alternate channel.
The fact that this gigantic documentary has more views than the channel has subscribers, despite it being explicitly the third part of a huge series of equally gigantic documentaries, both bugs me and bogles me. This channel more than should be over one million subscribers by now.

Me: VERTICAL SPEED CONSERVATION WHEN???????
You have a rare talent for being able to explain complex topics with just the right amount of detail . Great series, looking forward to part 4!
Pannenpaper, LOL. These videos are awesome, job well done. Looking forward to part 4.
I have tears of joy in my eyes.. this is so beautiful!!
Thanks Bismuth for this great documentary
Oh boy, time to feel that feeling again that only your and Summoning Salt's videos give me.
edit: I also plan to watch this whole series together with friends once you've released everything; probably together with pannen's Watch for Rolling Rocks video.
@@TheRatsintheWalls oh yes, I watch that absolute legend too, but it's not quite the same feeling. Good in a different way.
This is like a trip down memory lane for me. I've been following pannenkoek for so long lol
That cliffhanger.
I think panen has spent more hours deconstructing this game than many devs did making it.
EDIT: sell this as a feature-length documentary to Netflix.
Brilliant
Love the reveal at the end!
nice vsc reveal at the end

This is easily one of my favorite UA-cam series ever. Thank you for this amazing content!
i love the "Now that's a wet-dry world" line
These two sides overlap when there are too many of these models on screen, leading to both sides being overwritten with garbage data and invalid F3D commands."
So, when you see stuff like the random flashing colors or shadows turning into boxes like at 8:47 and 32:10, those are moments where the game would've crashed on N64.
It's funny to me that in the sm64 community the term "parallel universes" comes with the same weight as marvel dropping the "avengers assemble" line
Can we talk about the UBERsmooth transition at 19:25 - 19:26 ? :0 You even went from one version to another on the exact beat and timing. How cool is that!
Been watching all the other parts as today is a very nyeh day for me. This was absolutely interesting and I loved it a lot. Thank you so much for all this informative content!
Bismuth doing such beautiful piano arrangements for these videos is the biggest, juiciest cherry on top of an already delectable sundae
The Metal Mario Can Move optimization by Plush is absolutely elegant.
When pannen understood the intricate maths behind enemy coding it was game over for other challengers lmao
I love how Tyler didn't immediately elaborate how he saved the HMC entry A press and just waited for Pannen to reply.
