A CXT/TIER 3 INSTACART Agent provides Instacart Shoppers information on how the Algorithm connects shoppers with customers. INSTACART'S ALGORITHMIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEM regulates the time and activities of shoppes more stringently than another gig platforms.
GIG WORKERS ARE BEHOLDEN TO THESE SECRET ALGORITHMS THAT DETERMINE WHERE AND HOW OFTEN THEY CAN FIND GIGS AND HOW MUCH THEY WILL BE PAID. WHILE EACH GIG PLATFORM HAS UNIQUE ALGORITHIMS, THEY ALL HAVE A COMMON OBJECTIVE: MAXIMIZE PROFITS, AT THE EXPENSE OF WORKERS.
Please let me know in the comments below, your thoughts. I respect you all so much and appreciate each and every one of you. YOU MATTER to me.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
    Peace & Love,
    Jen

Here’s how u get a better speed time. Don’t click start shopping, look at the items by brand and size fill up ur cart then click start shopping and then scan. I have a 46 second per item. I usually get produce and can goods about 12 items before I start shopping

Why did this comment section get spammed with bots?? Is this an Instacart thing because they don’t want us to read the comments section clearly? So confusing 😆

That’s why this shouldn’t be a full time job. They don’t care about shoppers!!!

Maybe I’m just dumb but who or what is “gigspade”? I just started instacart this week-I’ve not broken $100 yet-I sit at the store waiting for a batch while the app is telling me to go to another store? Makes no sense. Today I made the fatal mistake of taking a “Dollar Tree” batch. OMG! I saw that the end destination was on the route to go home so I took it -Never again! A double batch -batch 1: 12 different spices! I thought-easy! All in one small area…wrong! I spent so much time rifling through all the spices that weren’t in alphabetical order like a grocery store and almost half of the requested spices weren’t there! Second part of the batch…are you sitting down? A bunch of kid toys and leftover Easter stuff!!! These dollar stores stick out of holiday items usually a week before the holiday!! I was so irritated that I took the batch! It took forever to find or replace everything and one order from the batch “wasn’t on time”. OMG! Never again! How do I get good worthwhile batches????

Wow, this is so insane to me. So many little things, and Instacart tells you ten percent of it. This makes sense to me because I am a 5-star shopper and have a speed of about 68 seconds, yet I have problems receiving any batch over $30. Must be the robots, the new shoppers, or the algorithm pairing the batches to the better shoppers.

This doesn't explain why many new hirees have priority status, which I've personally seen.

Some great points! Cruel form of labor control is perfectly correct! But instacart REFUSES to be transparent about hackers stealing batches! I have been doing this full time for over a year and have a professional highly educated background. The demand is not going away! Rich people realize time is money, momma home with their kids don't want to leave, elderly and disable who cant get out of the house, etc. But across the US for over a week, there have been no batches offered to most of us or they are below minimum wage! Low paying, high mileage batches or no batches is all we see. IC is telling everyone who contacts them that its just slow. BS! The company was just valued at 39 BILLION dollars! I normally work 6-7 days a week, 10 hours a day and am aware of how batches come up. 5 star shopper with 3% cancellation and low shopping speeds. People cant pay their bills right now because of what is going on!

Thanks Jen. That definitely explains a lot. You cant appeal to an algorithym's for sympathy or expect fairness. All you can do is outsmart it ... if its worth the trouble.

Jen. You are such a great cheer leader. Every day when I come home after work (3 jobs) including Instacart. First thing I do, I watch your video. Some videos I watched several times but your cheering and encouragement is very helpful and makes me feel so much better to know someone cares about our work. Thank you 😊

Thank you for this video. It really helped me. I had no idea that the seconds per item holds you on a tier and places you with a "like-tier" customer. I'll be working on my time for sure. I am fast, but I could be faster. What holds me up is the sending of the pics and waiting for the customer. Usually I'll go to other/nearby aisles and I'll grab the suggested item and put it in my cart while waiting. Sometimes I'll grab a few items before I hit start and scan them after. I need to work on getting a better system down to get my time down. Thanks!

Definitely on point. I am in San Diego and the cancelation consequences are not as harsh at least from my own experience with Instacart. I was at 4% with a 4.8 rating. I had batches up to 120.00 coming in this last week. I am a huge believer in the time thing. The better your timing combined with a good rating is key. Thank you for the videos. 🤘

Thanks Jen for always keeping us informed and for going the extra mile to get information from IC that isn't readily available to shoppers, but SHOULD be! I am a new shopper. I have only done 1 shop. It was not a great experience but I chalked it up to being new, just learning the app & the store and knew that after a few more I would have this under my belt like anything else. I waited on a wait list for a long time to become a shopper since there were no spots available in my area. Now I'm not so convinced that's the reason at all. After watching this video, my suspicion is that everyone is put on a waitlist automatically so that you become so desperate to be called up as a shopper and by that time you are so grateful to IC for "choosing you". Listening to what you had to say in this video not only causes me to be angry but I am disgusted with IC's practices!! They use people's desperation to make a living in such hard times as a means to profit. I know a business has to make money but when it practices deceit and is not transparent to its contractors or employees, then I'm out. Fortunately I run other side gigs and have never counted on any one job or gig as my sole means of survival. I'm giving up my spot to the next eager beaver who is patiently waiting for that email from IC to let them know there is a space available for them. This company should be shut down in my opinion! Again, that's just my opinion and my experiences, so I would appreciate if everyone please kept their hate comments to themselves. Again, thank you Jen, you made my decision to leave this company an easy one! I will miss watching your videos as I always find them so informative and you are a delight on camera. I hope you continue to lobby for us contractors and make a difference! Best of luck and success to you and the other shoppers out there!

This has helped tremendously. I have been a shopper for over 3 years and I see so much has changed recently, even prior to the pandemic. It is sad, but like you said, just keep moving forward and do what is necessary.
