@@Shadow__133I haven’t a dot on an m&p yet, the one I have is from before I was aware of red dots on pistols besides the non reciprocating dots on competition guns. I only have experience with the Glock MOS system and am very satisfied with it
@@Shadow__133I dunno, man. I've had a am acro and now an rmr hd on mine and it's been baller. If you're talking about the gas on the lens it's easily remedied with the calculated kinetics plate. Couldn't tell you the last time I wiped my lens off
I’ve shot it last weekend and it’s great. Soft shooter in a small package. Very accurate. I only didn’t like the double action first trigger pull (can be solved by carrying it cocked and locked). I don’t like that it can’t be suppressed due to roto barrel :(
I have the Canik Rival and it is a nice gun. I preferred to run a CZ P10C in IDPA due to liking that trigger more. I believe the Walther mags and Canik mags may interchange depending on length. Glad to see you review a fun gun most people can afford.
My shooting buddy told me about your channel today. Ben, you are what I’ve been trying to be for years. Subbed and rang the bell. You are a damn machine when you run & shoot! Whew!! 😅
for some, the PDP and Canik mags are interchangeable. A friend of mine and were able to switch between the two without issue. He has the SFX9. I've read that's not always the case.
Canik mags work in the Walther but my Walther mags don't seem to work in my Canik. The Canik mags function flawlessly in the Walther PDP though. They're a little bit less money so that's nice.
Try one of your PDP holsters - you may find that the Canik TTI fits some of those as well. I have a TRex holster that I have seen that works with my Rival.
You should try the Langdon PX4 GSD. I think you'd like it a lot since you like the 92s. Also the Langdon 92s are super nice. I carry one every day and I like it a lot.
@aperson4057 The LEO or the A1. I have both, and the A1 is a turd unfortunately. The original one from the army trials is the good one. I have almost 10,000 rounds through two different ones and not one malfunction.
Go away, Mikey. Your self-promotion, for-profit patriotism and using the flag that OTHERS defended to pander to the losers who trust you is despicable. You are deplorable.
I had an ACSS for a few months before selling it. The outer ring isn't even what bothered me about it, the point of aim being the tip of the chevron is. In doubles, I would find myself reacting to the legs of the chevron rather than the tip.
It will be interesting to hear your thoughts on the Canik in relation to transition times and accuracy compared to other setups considering the significant weight differences between them.
Hope you get a good one. I didn’t like mine but the fan boys days I didn’t make it through the break in period and I told them I didn’t pay 1 k to spend 2-300 more in ammo to get a good gun I wanted it good out the box. IMO the comp is useless. And this is by no means a racegun
I’ve been competing with the Rival-S and wrote the guides for spring changes for reliability. The issue is the extractor design. After about 6,000 rounds yours will fail and you will get FTEs. Don’t fall in love with any Canik. I have a friend trying to design a new extractor for me, but it’s going to take a long time to get it tested and made.
I have the Rival-S Had Failed to Extract too at ~6k. Modified some extractors with no success. The fix: rouding the upper back of the magazines and the channel worn by them on the slide. I reduced the magazine lips spacing 0.1mm to lower the cartridge tip (RN). No problem since (23k rounds). Very precise handgun and comfortable. For me the trigger reach is a little to far. Thanks Ben for this channel.
It fucking snowed here man. I wanted to go shooting today but I'm pretty sure my shitty lil car would get stuck on the range. I'm still waiting for my Walther Optic plate for my PDP. I ordered a Tier 1 concealment MSP OWB to practice with. those mags hold 20 btw, they also work in the PDP but I don't know if PDP mags work in the Canik. They MIGHT. I tried my Canik mags in my new PDP last week and they worked perfectly. Lock back and everything. Including the ones with the +2 base pad like you showed in this video. I just tried putting the Walther mags in my Canik Rival and they do not seem to work. Funny enough--I was able to get the whole PDP slide on the Canik frame and it seems to function. I'm not gonna shoot it like that though, the Canik slide won't go on the PDP frame. I don't know why anyone would do this but I figured It would be interesting to try. In practice the PDP and Canik Rival shoot pretty similarly. I have actually shot my Rival quite a bit, not as much as you shoot but a lot for the average random citizen. I like the grip on the Walther more. I also like the Walther trigger a little bit more and mine just has the "duty" trigger. My rival has not broken, I'm at like 10 or 12,000 rounds through my Rival. I know that ain't shit compared to what you've put through guns but for the average person its quite a bit. The average gun owner that I know goes to the range once or twice a year to take pictures and shoot 50 rounds and then spend the rest of the year telling everyone how much they shoot. Next year I'm planning on competing in USPSA carry optics for the first time. I'm gonna see if I can find a PCSL 2 gun league around here too cuz I also shoot my AR15 a lot. I really enjoy shooting and wanna get to the next level.
So I kinda wish you'd just picked up a stock Canik and run with that, but I'm excited to see where this goes

Bought an ACSS a while back when they were a thing, but no more. The chevron isn't ideal, but I got used to it. It's now on a pistol I don't really shoot much. Bought an Aimpoint Acro, and I love it but it's just so damn expensive. Lately I've been installing the Holosun 507 Comp on everything.
Agree completely with the giant Holosun ring, way to distracting for me, but have been shooting small dots for a long time. People I shoot Speed Steel with seem to like the ring but I pass.
Christian, I did NOT use a plate. I direct mounted my SRO to the slide. However Canik does not supply the screws with the gun for direct mounting. I had to call customer service to figure this out. They said to use 6x32x10 screws. I went to my local hardware store and could not find 6x32 that were 10mm long. Size 6 is a US measurement and 10mm is metric (although, I'm not an expert on screws). So I bought 6x32x 3/8" stainless steel screws. They are .018" shorter but have been working perfectly for over 1500 rounds.
You mentioned on this week’s podcast how UPSA’s divisions are messy with how similar LO and CO are. What do you think is the way to reconcile magwell and comp enjoyers with the Shadow 2 shooting crowd?
Yes. They are almost identical. The simple rule of thumb is that Canik mags fit in Walthers but Walter mags overinsert in Caniks. It seems that the mag catch cuts are in a slightly different place. The Canik mags sitting slightly lower in Walthers seem to work fine, but the Walthers mags sitting slightly higher in Caniks cause problems.
If the trigger shoe is the same as my rival sfx one thing I noticed is that it gets a lot of dirt and skin stuck in it and I find myself having to take a pokey tool and scrape it out all the time.
Both sides of this are interesting because they’re both inhaling copium: the clearly lying “I have one million rounds through mine and it’s just as good” and the ones who want it to fail so badly because they couldn’t handle it if a cheap Turkish knockoff would actually be just as good. Either way I’m here for it, keep breaking the Internet Ben.

@mndayman yeah but atleast rotating barrels guns work after 100k rounds unlike rotory engines

Not really. Many will sell their XC’s. Others will mod them.

@machinebeard1639 the original was much better on that end for sure

No he didn't open it. He thought it was just some rattle toy. 😅
