flat range talk, the chevron alone isn’t enough to pick up under white light or bright days, also when not illuminated, I ll take Ben’s advice when it comes to flat range pistol shooting and that’s where it ends, Eotech, Trijicon, Sig all have donut reticles in service, this guy doesn’t even know what side of the optic to look through literally
Out of all the Primary Arms optics I think the PLX-C's are the only ones you would like. They're actual premium optics on par with the Razer or any other high end LPVO. They have a FFP with a mil christmas tree(I think they have that in moa too). They also have a SFP that has a reticle very similar to the Vortex Razer 1-6 where its just a crosshair with a bright illuminated reticle that is actually as bright as a red dot. Idk if you put the battery in that lpvo but even the cheap one you got there really is "red dot bright" but I agree, the SLX glass looks like it cost $250. Which it did! So that's alright. But yeah, their premium optics are made in the same optic factory in Japan that makes the Razers and the Trijicon Credo's and such. I have the FFP one, it's legit. I just wish it didn't have the chevron and instead had a little dot for the center aiming point like the Nightforce FDMX reticle or whatever that's called. The great thing about the PLX-C is the glass is phenomenal and they have the best 1x of any lpvo AND they're way smaller and lighter than the Vortex Razer 1-6x. The 8x is tight but typically if you're shooting at 8x you're shooting from a supported position of some kind. Edit: DId they send you the 1-10x or the 1-6x?
The Primary Arms Platinum scope line is made by Light Optical Works in Japan (same people who make scopes for Vortex, Nightforce, Bushnell Elite, etc.)... those are absolutely GTG. I havent tried the budget PA stuff, but I had the platinum 1-8 lpvo (the first gen), and it was a tank.
What they tell me is that customer service also counts, and I tell you, they’re customer service is outstanding! They’ll back up their products and service no questions!
Primary Arms GLX 1X ACSS Micro Prism is pretty legit . Also the PLX-C 1-8× FFP GRIFFIN MIL ACSS is one of the best LPVO for the money . P.A. GLX and PLX-C Optics I've had nothing but good things to say about . Huge fan of the Micro Prisms.
@alanmeyers3957 I for sure use them and quite a few buddies do as well . I ain't the best 2Gun / PCSL / USPSA Shooter . I'm just a mid B level . 2Gun is what I shoot most . I do prefer Eotech EXPS3-2 or EXPS2-2 paired with MICRO Triplier for 2Gun matches 450Y and in . IMO the Micro Prism Shines for people with astigmatism due to the etched reticle . I fucking love the Micro Prism for 100Y and in shooting or super up close CQB Distance Type PCSL Stages . PLX-C is IMO the best optic for the money . Its LW and COMPACT with phenomenal glass quality . I could be be wrong because it might be old news but N.F. , Vortex Razor and PA PLX-C / PLX are all made in same factory in Japan .
PA’s GLx 2X has become my favorite carbine optic. So far it’s held up to 2 full seasons. Mine has done well over 50 full 8 hour days on the range, and many other shorter training sessions. My son’s has about half that, zero issues with either one. Toss the PA mount and order the ADM mount.
I’m surprised they sent you anything other than the PLXc 🤷♂️. I haven’t put my PLXc through the wringer, but I like it so far. I like the Griffin Mil reticle, but you should compare the PLXc nova with the Razor gen 2. Bought it because the reviews were so good from so many guys I trust on UA-cam. Would be interesting to see if you like it. To confirm my purchase 😂
I have the same one and have had it for a year and have been using it quite a bit. Furthest range I have to shoot at is 500m which is right around 550y. I've shot with it out to those distances using a 12.5" and it worked well. 1x is good and all that. Illumination sucks as it does for most ffp optics except the $2500 ones. So, yeah.
I have both and while it is close, the Vortex edges out the PLXc. The extra weight isn’t noticeable and the eye box is better. That being said, they are both great but if I could only grab one, the vortex is what I’m grabbing.
I use the 1-5 First Focal Plane on my rifle, the aiming system is spot on to 300 yds without. It is good enough for me. I have multiple of their basic smaller field of view on the Aimpoint micro mounting system, none has failed me, thoug I did not pay for Aimpoint nor do I expect Aimpoint rugged.
Having used Scopes from all three lines(SLX,GLX,PLX); yeah it seems to be. I've spent a lot of time behind a GLX 2.5-10x and while it's certainly not just as good as a Leupold or a nightforce I don't feel that the quality of the scope has ever been the cause of a missed target. Their SLX Nova is a genuinely impressive optic for what it costs, and the reticle is incredibly usable at close range. As for the PLX it genuinely seems to stand toe to toe with with the ATACR, VUDU and Razor.
PLX line is actually one of the only LPVOs I'd own. The ATACR is by far the best I've messed with. Haven't tried any lesser known, high end options like Swarovski or Khales and such though
Also have a primary arms 1-6x lpvo. One of the cheap one idk exactly which. It’s been on various rifles of mine and still Works well. Scope has Seen over 5k rounds.
I hear you on the donut in the cyclops... It's an interesting optic in that being a prism you always have a reticle regardless of battery being good and they eye box doesn't suck too bad. For me it it's going to have the donut it needs to be way thinner..
No experience on PA LPVO. I have used their microprism due to my horrific astigmatism. Being a micro prism, you have to understand its an etched reticle, like an acog, in a "1x" housing. Being an etched reticle you have a much clearer reticle picture. I put 1x in quotations because its not a true 1x, theres a slight magnification. You have to adjust the diopter on the prism to fit your eye. From my experience it held zero fine and was accurate. I ended up returning mine due to the eye strain it caused. Its a neat little optic, but not for me in the end. Curious to see your thoughts on it.
I have the 1x prism. I like it and it seems legit. I haven’t shit but a couple hundred rounds through it. Guy came to my channel and said he had issues with his but I like mine. The vortex 1-6 is what I have on my LWRC. I really like it as well.
@@kodiak7964 I tend to agree for certain use cases but I personally have come to love the VCOG 1-8 with the throw lever mount. I'm a big fan of simplicity and a basic battery, no leveling, and the robust nature wins it for me when I'm going out for work. However at home on my grab n go 18" rifles I do prefer the plxc for the price point and I genuinely love the reticle.
PA GLX 2.5-10 on a SPR 18" upper and previously 1-6 GLX FFP on a 16" BCM. Ran roughly 5000 through each, totally capable and usable setups that lasted the time and an upper exploding on me due to bad ammo. Zero stop caps are super nice for elevation and returning to zero for distance. Chevrons still suck balls tho.
I haven't had any issues with their optics. Their customer service is trash and they are comfortable with selling out-of-spec parts, filtering objective reviews that might cost them a sale, not refunding for returned products, and filtering comments on their online platforms. As far as I am concerned it is now less about how good the products are but more about what kind of company you are dealing with. As such Primary Arms gets a big fat F. I have about 4 of their optics and while they all work fine, I'll never buy another product from them, Primary Arms or not. Nor will I buy their products from third parties.
I thought the micro prism was great when I first got it when I was pointing it at my apartment walls. However I sold it after my first time actually using it at an outdoor range. The reticle was too hard for me to pick up and the outer ring is basically useless except for close range holdover reference points. It has good features on paper, unfortunately it doesn’t translate to real world usage for me.
i got one of the cheap primary arms scope mainly because i didnt have an LPVO, didnt have a ton of money, and needed something more than a red dot but didnt have a ton of money, it will work until i can afford something better, then i can put the cheap scope on a less important rifle like a 10/22
The new SLX nova is the only LPVO I own, just to see if I like them. For a first one its ok but I'm more interesred now in the PLX-c or a Vortex. The dot gets pretty damn bright and the eyebox takes some time getting used to it. If I had to start over, I'd get either of the ones mentioned above.
PA currently has a gen 3 Slx with 5.56 ACSS reticle on sale for $180. I already have various mounts, and actually prefer this reticle over the newer ones (like the fiber optic). I couldn't resist picking one up as a place holder to throw on whatever gun needs it for a while. Of course PSA also has the Strike Eagle 1-6× on sale for around $230 with mount. PSA also routinely offers the 1-8x S.E. on sale for low $300's without a mount, and mid $300's with one. None of these are my dream optic, but darn those prices are nice. I still know so many fuds and cheapo's running irons or maybe a basic dot. There's no excuse to lack magnification anymore. Plus a $200ish 1-6x will be worth a fortune in squirrel meat when the idiots in charge start WW3 and wreck civilization.
I’ve got a primary arms MD65 red dot mounted on an AK gas tube and it’s got about 2k rounds maybe a little less, and hasn’t died yet. Video is on my page.
I was shooting an 11.5 on Wed that has the slx 1x and I can’t shoot it at speed anywhere near as well as my eotechs or red dots. I’ve gotten some division top 3s with mine, but it’s not my first choice. It’s a place holder to show off different rifle configurations without having $1,000+ optics on them all.
Green is the only way to go for me. I wished they had come out with it sooner. I have to many Red Dots to replace for green. If it doesn't come in green now I won't buy it.
They have a couple good optics. Not sure why they decided not to send you one of those. These guys are notorious for sending UA-camrs free shit and usually they get a favorable review because of it. They must not have done their research on you.
Hey Ben, if you can tolerate sitting through the whole thing i was curious about your opinion on this. To sum it up he complains about the glock trigger, grip angle, people changing out every component they can, slide fitment, and the lack of innovation glock has had over the years. Thoughts? ua-cam.com/video/aO0f3hdVz98/v-deo.html
The second he looked through the scope backwards, that infamous Navy meme came to mind.
this is what happens when you listen to a flat range pistol shooter about combat reticle selections 😂
Omg that shirt lol

Introducing, the Primary Arms SLx, Stoeger Edition. In limited Stripper Gold color way, perfect for the h03 rifle in your life.
Their premium scope is made in the LOW factory in Japan alongside other coveted brands.
Nippon.
According to ordered specs, with ordered criteruia of quality control.
the PA prism would be so much better if they ditched the donut. ended up selling mine.

The 1-8 PA platinum LPVO's were made by Light Optical Works, the same as the Vortex Razor... I assume they are still both made there.
Love the shirt lmao
You look like the Navy captain mounting The Optics backwards
With the Canik unboxing Ben was so excited to find the holster, mini Canik tool, etc. With this scope unboxing all he could find was a descant pack😂

They're good for the money. I bought one of their GLx 1-6 FFP LPVOs with a mil grid reticle for $400 on sale. It's a pretty decent LPVO.

It's a 1-8 but yeah Ben would like that one if he likes the Vortex Razer. Good reticle+eyebox+smaller+lighter than the vortex razer.
I've been using a PA Nova for a year now and just got a Razor HD for black friday. Excited to try it out.
My dad’s been using one for years. He loves it.
I have the gen 3, 5x prism in green on one of my rifles for a couple of years now and it’s good enough for that set up
Ready for Ben's take on the Sionics.
Some of the PA stuff is pretty good, especially their premium optics.
The nova 1-6 has a great reticle and glass for it’s price

That fuckin shirt😂
Bro that shirt🤣
The PLxC 1-8x is arguably the best LPVO on the market. The eye relief is unmatched at 1x.
The new GLX 1x prism is also awesome
Excellent T-Shirt.
Also have a primary arms 1-6x lpvo. One of the cheap one idk exactly which. It’s been on various rifles of mine and still Works well. Scope has Seen over 5k rounds.
They have a Ronin Aems, and it fucks.. Its significantly better than the regular version.. Plus it has what we all want, a badass dragon on it
I hear you on the donut in the cyclops... It's an interesting optic in that being a prism you always have a reticle regardless of battery being good and they eye box doesn't suck too bad. For me it it's going to have the donut it needs to be way thinner..

The vortex 1-6 is what I have on my LWRC. I really like it as well.
With PA's stuff, you pretty much get what you pay for. The SLX stuff is mostly blah, but a few of their PLX things, like the PLXC, is pretty great.
Their plxc is decent
It's the best LPVO on the market. Better stats than the nx8. 9-Hole Reviews has an excellent comparison.

its ok ben is double vaxed and boosted
I have a couple PA products and I really like them
The mount on the primary micro prism SUCKS. It breaks if you torque it to spec after doing it one time. You can only use it once basically.
That's weird. I over torque everything and none of my mounts have broken.
@ the first time is usually ok, but if you were to take it off and torque it again it would probably break. Basically a one time use mount
I have the PLX1-8 compact and fn love it.
Where did you get that shirt?? lol
It’s weird watching honesty for once.
Can you talk about reticles and why you don't like the donut?
Excellent Optics 👍

Good point, except “ primary” isn’t the name. It’s kind of a gray area though, and I’m not sure.
Which Vortex is that?

I like the primary arms prism a lot for what it is but the chevron and their other reticle options are not very appealing
I’ve got a primary arms MD65 red dot mounted on an AK gas tube and it’s got about 2k rounds maybe a little less, and hasn’t died yet. Video is on my page.
Once again, betting Ben won't like it, but man I really need him to. Lol. Great shirt.
Idk about the lower tier scopes but I do know the PLXc slaps.
it better slap at 1300 dollars
@mindwreckRC That's mid tier money for LPVOs. The vortex 1-6 are that much. The 1-10 and the ATACR are much more. The PLXc punches above its price.
It depends on where your standard is drawn. Primary Arms may be good enough for Brass Facts, but definitely not good enough for Trench Grenade.
I think they are excellent for the price, but Im a "buy once cry once" type of guy.
"pretty good" is actually about as high a rating as Ben gives! LOL! Love these reviews tho, so dang honest.

PA very top line optics barely tip into mid range quality. Razor has been proven in competition and combat for a decade. Not comparable
