    You should do an episode where you put real nutritionists vs tiktok "nutritionists"

    • @CarysCreatesThings
      @CarysCreatesThings Місяць тому +311

      Registered dietitians vs TikTok “nutritionists” would be better. Nutritionist isn’t a regulated profession, so anyone can technically call themselves a “nutritionist”. In contrast, to be a dietitian, you need a minimum of a masters degree and to be registered with the Health & Care Professions Council.

    • @CarysCreatesThings
      @CarysCreatesThings Місяць тому

      @@kelseyevers3320I know that, that’s why I specified TikTok “nutritionists” (inverted commas intentional). I wasn’t referring to qualified nutritionists. As I said, anybody can promote themselves as a nutritionist whether they’re qualified or not because it’s not a protected term, whereas it’s illegal to claim you’re a dietitian unless you’re qualified and registered. There are a lot of unaccredited organisations selling online courses with a certificate at the end. People take these courses then claim they’re certified nutritionists but their certification isn’t accredited or recognised by any governing body. Those are the “nutritionists” I’m referring to.

      She has a point tho, of course a woman who dresses modestly shouldn’t have to expect any stares or attention, but if a woman is wearing half- unzipped or tight sports bras for the purpose of pushing up/showing off her cleavage, or those ‘scrunch shorts’ which outline her buttocks, of course she should expect attention. Generally there’s nothing wrong with a sports bra and leggings for comfort- it’s normal- but there are some women who clearly pick out clothes which will naturally get more attention.

    I'm so happy Xinia called out the fact that it's wrong to assume that women go to the gym to build their physiques for men. I have a connective tissue disorder and my doctor advised me to start weight lifting in order to build more muscle to help support my joints and decrease pain. Saying that women are just going to the gym for male approval is a really careless statement to make. A lot of us go to better our health and improve our quality of life. Not only that, but also so that we love what WE see in mirror. Not anyone else. I can't tell you how many times men have complimented me for being skinny (almost underweight, mind you) but even though guys seem to like that, I don't care. I want to be big, strong, and healthy. My dream physique is the opposite of what guys have told me they like.

    These people are not representative of people who like to work out/"gym people". Not everyone works out for external validation or appearance. We don't go to gym to judge others. If I see someone filming, I just mind my business and most often I admire their confidence to film publicly. Most people are there to better themselves and gym desexualises your body, you start seeing your body as a bunch of muscles. It's a beautiful thing and these people are not representative of it. Please move your body for your own health, whether it's walking or gym. Doesn't matter, moving your body is admirable. 💖

Even with just that on... I was getting complements, mixed with some girls & guys doing and saying things I didn't like. While I can complain about it, I realized that wearing such clothing might draw a certain type of attention that I don't like. Because of that, I decided to only wear tanks outside of work. This is called, *taking accountability.* While a person may not intend to get attention by what they wear, changing how they present themselves can significantly decrease or even eliminate what they experienced. Trying to change other people will never work. Just make adjustments to achieve different results.

If you consciously make the decision to put on something that is revealing and will obviously garner attention, especially if you know you’re conventionally attractive or have nice assets, you shouldn’t complain about getting looks. You knew what you were putting on regardless of how comfy it may be or how confident it may make you feel, you knew it was revealing and people in general are going to look at something put out on display. I’m focused on me and so is she. Just different comfort levels. Same goal tho. She’s also petite and I’m more… voluptuous, so she gets away with more tight outfits without things spilling out. She also takes more pictures to track progress and I’m not really doing that. So many men think that girls wear cute fits, do their hair, makeup, for men, but they do it for more self confidence, and you need that as motivation.

    Men work out shirtless in the gym all the time, so why is it an issue if women wear more revealing gym clothes? For me, wearing shorts and lighter gym outfits helps with sensory issues related to sweating-it’s about comfort and practicality, not attention. The fact that women are still blamed for how others behave towards them because of what they wear is so gross and rooted in borderline rape culture rhetoric. This is one of the main reasons I avoid going to the gym, and I know so many other girls feel the same way.
