One of the church members, a female of course, as she walked into the church, she did not greet us. Instead, she said, “There is not a presence of God amongst us.” So, she went downstairs until the pastor showed up. That’s really messed up!
I recently left a reasonably good church that had a lot of toxic groups within it, not wanting to follow decent leadership from the pastors and biblical understanding. The church is extremely popular so the leadership has a hard time keeping track of who's doing the right thing by everybody and themselves.
We have to fight against our own sinful nature, to self promote. It's not always easy. But we can look to Jesus who set the best example of humility for us.
Prayed for you sis! im sorry to hear that. The bride (church) is noway as loving and holy as the groom (christ), may he give you grace to love his church more. 1 peter 5:6-7
I was a leader in my church, we had to take first-year leadership to be in a leadership position. My church has clicks too. And I confronted the pastor about it. Because he said that he would shut down the clicks and gossip in the church. The pastor gossip about people when they leave the church to his leaders. And I was told since I did not submit to the deaconesses and the other sister in the church as in leadership submit to their authority. That I'm in rebellion. And I even told my pastor that I was leaving and wanted to do it the right way. And he told me he was God's will for me to stay there. And I kept getting shut down watching these kids be disrespectful to me and watching other kids that don't know any better be disrespectful tear up the church. And then I'm expected to help clean up after these kids. I left the church and I was told that I was going to be handed over to Satan to be buffeted. Because I'm in rebellion supposedly.
Any recommendations for a church that may be more toxic for men vs women? It’s a beautiful church when a woman goes through challenges but not so much for men. It’s a small church. A given Sunday there could be 40 attenders and of that 35 would be women. Pastor is also a woman. Feels like the women have something great but men don’t and if I encourage changes to the men’s group I get rebuffed. I do think it is telling that so many husbands choose not to attend.
Me and my wife are in an awkward situation. I was brought back from a life of backsliding by a good friend that's now a leader of the church we're going to. (before I was married). Now I feel that there's a feeling of finger pointing if we didn't attend church when we didn't feel like going. We're aware that our spiritual lives needs food as well from other believers but we're uncomfortable about the fact that the church sermons they preach very often involves comparing themselves to other churches when other churches make bad doctrinal practices. I feel that this whole situation is so tricky yet a blessing to navigate because it got me and my wife to really try to know God more and hopefully reveal truths for what steps we need to take instead of just staying on because of owing the church my growth in faith.
Being bought back to the Lord is great. It doesn't qualify the Church to be walking in Grace and discipling members. Laodicea might have won people to the Lord. Whilst excluding Him from entering
I found the church in general the Apostolic church in particular. To be extremely rigid, religious, unloving and unwelcoming! All of which created an extremely toxic environment! Resulting in many leaving the reformation!
Leadership at First Assembly of God in San Antonio are good at spinning stories. Even when there is evidence that leadership has done wrong, the story is spun to make the other person the complete guilty party. #firstassemblysanantonio #firstagsa
I used to kind of laugh when the church wanted to feed the homeless on Thanksgiving I would be the smart Alec and say why do we only feed them on Thanksgiving and no other day is that the day they're hungry because we are
Leaders should have a great fear of God and that they might fall. They need to have a team of people around them whom they know will tell them the truth.
You mean truth like the fact that all religion is fraud? Are you even a serious person? Why would you think that anything coming from any religion is "truth"?
@@Scarred4life420 Are you suggesting that the example James gave is a lie "Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, . . ."?
@@geraldpolmateer3255 I wasn't commenting on the video. I was talking about what you said. What truth is in religion? How is your god any more real than the thousands humanity has invented? Why don't you believe in Zeus? Or Quetzalcoatl?
So, they're phonies. We had a preacher when i was a kid who used to say "would you like to go to church with a few of them, or to Hell with ALL of them?" He had a point.
The perfect church on Earth does not exist and you cannot make the perfect church. If you can prove me wrong and find this church DO NOT JOIN IT!!! If you do you will spoil it.
Accountability is much needed in church. Thank you for this video! It needs to be heard.
it's toxic when u can't be urself. I constantly feel tense and judged when im at my church. like I can't be myself..
When one has a problem in a church, all you can do is leave.

What does “female of course” mean? A male won’t do the same thing?
Should have told her to leave and never come back.

Good Word
Have been a member of alot of Churches and have seen alot of self promoting.
We have to fight against our own sinful nature, to self promote. It's not always easy. But we can look to Jesus who set the best example of humility for us.
My church lacked empathy
Sorry to hear that. Sending prayers your way. Keep the faith!
My church is full of cliques and plays favorites. I'm disabled and always left out of the woman functions.
It’s like that at this Young Adult Group. Just a weekly dating seminar. I only went for the word and they have a problem with that. I had to leave.

I believe the what the Bible teaches about toxic churches is worldly churches.

If a person gives away a gift you gave them to someone else right in front of you with no thought of your feelings, is that sign of narcissism?
It could be.
I would say it’s super rude of them.
