    Quick tip: If you get a round ring around your image, you could use the tele-converter option built in to all MFT Lumix cameras. This will get rid of the vignette by digitally cropping in. That means you won't need an expensive adapter or a $2,000 lens with a doubler.

    • @scott.skates
      @scott.skates  Рік тому

      Yeah the option using the speed booster you have to use the tele-converter mode. I found it to be problematic no stabilization and kinda wonky in use. It works I used it on the surf video I made but you gotta be super careful. Truth be told I spent $300 on eBay for the lens I used with the 2x extender I’m not sure about the $2,000 lens you speak of that would have been out of budget for sure. 🤷🏽‍♂️🎯

      @@scott.skates I guess I was thinking of a new lens, which would be around $2,000. I was able to use the in-body stabilization on my Lumix G95 without any issue. I'm not sure what the advantages are of using a speed booster vs just a b4 to MFT adapter but I use Fotodiox adapter to connect my Fuginon lens. It doesn't have a doubler so either I record in 4K and crop in post, or I use the tele-converter.

      @@skullerboy I think the advantage of speed booster is optical magnification prior to the sensor does not magnify sensor noise. On the other hand, it causes some light loss which may require more gain and noise. Might be a better option in good lighting but not in challenging lighting.

    Hi, I did almost the same some years ago with my Olympus E-PL3. I got the lens quite cheaply at Ebay, as other photograpic stuff. I use the Fujinon lens 1.7/9.5 - 152mm.
    The cheapest way to adapt the lens was a B4 converter to EOS. Then I added a Vivitar 2x converter for EOS. Finally there is the EOS to mft converter. My lens has no built-in converter.
    This setup is very heavy. Less weight would be possibly using a mft 2x converter instead. it only costs far more than I payd. The zoom function is opeerated manually with my lens.
    Only, I have difficulties in focussing the image in the camera. There is the macro ring, and a ring just next to themacro ring that can bi fixed by an fixing screw. I could never find an adjustment where the distance ring is the only adjustment for focussing. So, in my case the lens is NOT parfocal!
    Nice to see that others had the same idea to adapt old lenses to modern cameras.

    • @scott.skates
      @scott.skates  Рік тому +1

      Yeah many different options for the result. For back focus all you do is zoom all the way in on your subject. Manual focus as close as you can get it then adjust the macro ring until it’s tack sharp f8-f11 suggested. Then zoom all the way out and repeat the steps mentioned above. This will render the parfocal effect. I highly recommend the thumbcontroller and battery pack power. It’s a game changer! Thanks for watching, subscribe for more recipes!🤌✨

    I have a question. Will the pixel to pixel mode from my gh6 work for any b4 lens? Or will it still have the hard vignette? Because I was thinking of purchasing a b4 lens, but it does not have 2x converter switch.

    hi! just came across this video while looking for a solution for a problem i got. I just bought the Fujinon VCL-1012BY, B4 Mount. Im bought the adapter for my Fuji XT3 (APSC) I´m getting vignettes in my image, is there a way i could fix that? If so, could you attach a link to the solution?

  • @TheNaught1
    @TheNaught1 5 місяців тому

    Set back focus is mandatory for correct parfocal operation. Usually a thumbscrew setting near the lens base. Learn how to do it, it will need re-adjustment periodically, and for some lenses after every re-mount. Helps to have a proper focus target.

  • @lamodification
    @lamodification 6 місяців тому +1

    • @scott.skates

      You’ll need to adjust your “back focus” search that term on a b4 lens. Too much to go into in a comment. Good luck

    • @scott.skates
      @scott.skates  11 місяців тому +1

      Yeah I’m not sure but it’s definitely worth looking into more in depth since I believe the b4 mount is standard which means in theory the adapter should work and you could use teleconverter mode to crop in camera with gh cameras. Please let me know if you find anything out.🤔

      - HPLHS adapter ring M4/3-NEX mount to e mount
