Just finished my first real parking lot session in 20+ years at 51 years old. Back is sore, knee is swollen and sore but I feel great. I missed that feeling so much. It's strange when your brain knows what to do but your body just doesn't want to comply and it's hard to wrap your head around. But I'm going to stick with it and get my legs back. The leg weight idea is great, I'm ordering some now.

Ok, so I'm about to turn 56. My grandson is into skating. Take him to park and built a mini ramp in backyard for him. So now i've been itching to skate again. I miss it. Let's put it this way, last time I skated was at the Pipeline Skate Park in Upland CA back in 1988 when it closed. I've jumped on the kids board a few times and felt like i was gonna die. You're right, i couldn't even ollie, so bummed. Patience, one thing i've learned over all these years is patience. So this christmas i'm getting some gear, gonna start up a stretch and yoga regiment and get to it. Thanks for the inspiration

Rail positioning for me has never been about sliding. More for gripping, boneless etc..More of a comfort thing. Most likely unnecessary? Issue I have as an old pool skater with a non directional board is I always rely on my front truck a bit stiffer(back looser) for hard carves. Buddy of mine introduced me to double carving round bowls. Super fun!

I actually prefer to skate completely alone. Granted, I’m not always the only one skating at all the spots. And I go to the DIY super early just to get there so I can have an hour or two by myself. Granted, I’m almost 50 and can’t do most of the tricks I used to do in my teens. But I still have some Ollie, grinds, boardslides, no comply, and occasionally I’ll try some flip tricks. But to me, others are a distraction and I enjoy the experience when I’m by myself

I like the clean shave brother looking good man!! I like a bigger board but as a smaller guy I don't want it to big otherwise it feels heavy to me I found 8.5 works best for me for tricks , my cruiser board I like big and wide.

I tried to learn skating at 20 but gave up quickly. Tried again at 30 but was busy with uni exams. Now at 41 started doing it again and these past six months are the longest I ever persevered on the board so far. I know I'm just getting started and it's really tough finding the time with having a three year old child and a demanding job. But it really is worth it, I was suffering from severe burnout at work and just picking up a friend's used board and learn really took a huge weight off my shoulders. I am determined to keep going, even though it isn't easy. Having just assembled my own custom board will hopefully help me to stick with it 😊

I ride Indys. The cross didn't bother me, but ditching it doesn't bother me either. Being attached to a brand logo is corny, but whining about it changing is definitely NOT punk rock.

What I did with my tape is I got the 10” clear Mob, then made cardboard stencils. I hit it with black spray paint, pull off the stencils and that way the top graphic shows through. I tried w/o painting it and it just got dirty fast.

I’ve been riding Black Label since the beginning. I have a Red Cross and the new Street Thing myself. Just like the ones I had in ‘88.

You should ask some of your old friends at Ermico, DLX, etc. There were no campaigns to change the logo, no petitions, and (suprisingly) practically no online fervor against their logo because it was never a nazi symbol. The whole idea that a corporate surf corp. who manufactures overseas went "woke" is the invention of an idiot Russian-backed podcaster named Tim Pool. Think about it, if people really thought a bunch of nazis were making trucks, they'd boycott the entire company not just a logo (that's like getting the klan to change their pointy hood for a bowler's cap).

Been riding only egg shapes for for the past 16 months not only are they great for curb skating they’re also really easy to flip around, hope you have a lot of fun on your egg 🥚

When I was a kid I tried an egg shaped World Industries Daewon Song board (Land before Time) and it was the best board I have ever tried really. I also had Grind Kings but my favorites were the Tensor Lows

I think I'm on my 4th Jacuzzi Jackson Pilz egg shaped deck. Don't know if it' improves anything technically, but it definitely sends me back to '92. I May have to find some featherlites and a set of bearing covers soon.
