    The 80's and 90's are my 2 favourite perfume decades❤❤❤ I was so bold back then and after the horrible 00's (a couple of amazing perfumes aside but this is my least favourite decade) i'm happy i found myself again and dont care anymore if people tell me i smell vintage or like a 'grandma'.... I love LouLou. I didnt appreciate it back then but i adore it now

      Mine too. This is what it's all about-being yourself and wearing whatever perfume you like. It’s just scented water after all. I couldn't care less if someone thinks I smell dated.
      That's interesting; I went through something similar with LouLou. I used to find it much more challenging, but I absolutely love it now.🙂

      @@lukeparfumsYou are so right! It took me years of wearing 'social acceptable' perfumes before i was confident to wear what i love again. Thats why i detest the 00's era. That just wasnt/isnt me. Being told you smell like catpiss/ a grandma or musty is so much worse than being called candy floss 😂😂😂

    • @lukeparfums
      @lukeparfums  6 місяців тому +3

      Believe it or not, I'm not big on 2000s fragrances either. Come to think of it, I don’t have any of the 'trendy' ones, apart from Coco Mademoiselle.
      Oh no, I hope no one actually said that about your perfume. I wouldn’t mind musty or grandma, but cat piss is downright rude.😳

    My mother was coming of age in the 80s and still wears some of her favorites from this decade (Elizabeth Arden Red Door & CK Obsession!) I've tested most of the 80s releases you mentioned in the video and some of the ones you didn't. I like to buy mini bottles online to try out older releases before committing, it's economical and they're so cute!
    My favorite 80s perfumes:
    1) Dior Poison
    2) Estee Lauder Beautiful
    3) Chanel Coco
    4) Estee Lauder Knowing
    5) Guerlain Samsara
    6) Givenchy Ysatis

      Hello, and thanks for sharing! I totally forgot about Red Door. Miniature bottles are a fantastic way to test fragrances; I have quite a few myself. It seems we share most favourites, except for Knowing, which I don't like because it brings back certain unwanted memories. Thanks for tuning in!🙂

    I love these perfumes! I had Lou LOu in the 8-s, and i loved it, it was unique at the time a soft incence & white creamy florals, it definitaly had a mysterious dark vibe, the new one does not seem the same to me though the dry down is similar. I adore the Chanel COCO it is my current favortite, i have the EDP and its glorious baroque luxe scent, i will get the edt too...just because its ab it more peachy. perfumes from the 80s and 90s are among my favorites.

    • @lukeparfums
      @lukeparfums  6 місяців тому +3

      That’s awesome!🙂 I find the new LouLou sweeter, more “tropical” floral, and less smoky than the vintage. “Baroque luxe scent” is a spot on description of Coco. Thanks for watching!🙂

    I wore the original Gianni Versace for Women from the moment it was released in 1981 to today even though it has been long discontinued...and until recently, it was my only and signature scent. I was a governess for a woman who worked for Vogue magazine at the time and she brought me a sample from the magazine. I immediately fell in love! It's considered a Chypre Floral today on Fragrantica, but at one point it was considered an Chypre Oriental because of the spices.
    Prior to that, I wore Paris, Ciara, and Oscar de la Renta.
    I realize that millions of men and women around the world adore Chanel #5 but I cannot abide it! It's only been recently that I've learned enough about parfums that I can articulate what I didn't care for...and that is the green and aldehydic green compounds that were fused together in an overdose...deliberately...in the creation of the fragrance.
    I ordered Diva by Ungaro a few weeks ago since it shared some of the notes I adore in Gianni Versace for Women, and I'm considering ordering a few other vintage fragrances if for no other reason than nostalgia to adorn my parfum tray.
    Today, I find myself drawn to gourmand vanillic and berry fragrances, but I still like my spices and citrus notes. And oakmoss, which I know is controversial. It may be the reason--other than his death--that the OG was discontinued because oakmoss itself became controversial in the parfum industry in the 1990's. To my nose, it completes a fragrance in a way that no other ingredient can.

    • @lukeparfums
      @lukeparfums  6 місяців тому +3

      Hi there. Oh, that’s so interesting! I haven’t smelt the original Gianni Versace but I imagine it’s more oriental than floral, judging from the notes. I’m not the biggest fan of No.5 either. I don’t mind the aldehydes but I just don’t love the fragrance as a whole. I like the pure parfum version which is all about the sandalwood and vanilla… Divine. Diva is another opulent vintage scent. I find it slightly similar to Paloma Picasso. I couldn’t possibly agree more with you about oakmoss… it’s that finishing touch that adds refinement to a fragrance. I don’t know if you’ve tried YSL Yvresse but it’s one is a peachy rose violet scent with a beautiful mossy base that rounds out the entire composition. If there weren’t any oakmoss, it would probably be just a generic fruity floral scent. I find that perfumers often replace oakmoss with patchouli in newer compositions but it doesn’t produce quite the same effect. Not to say that I don’t like patchouli, I do, but oakmoss adds depth and sophistication to a fragrance. Thank you for watching!🙂

    Ysatis has been my favourite scent since the 90’s 😍. I also have a vintage bottle, but it’s turned. I’ll keep the vintage bottle for display. I love that bottle so much. The new 2023 bottle is so boring. I have 8 backups which are manufactured in 2013, because the juice in the new bottle is further diluted. Absolutely stunning scent; there is nothing like Ysatis.

    Hi Luke!
    I don’t have LouLou or Sun😊
    I have the others😅
    I have the same Poison and Ysatis bottles. I always enjoy both. I always thought that I didn’t care for herbs, except for cloves (if that’s an herb and not a spice🤔).😁 But look at Poison with coriander!🤔
    It enters the room before you do…..and stays for three days after you leave??😅You stunk up the room?😂😂😂
    Coco….🫠🫠🫠
    Do you speak French?
    I took 2 years of Spanish….Did me absolutely no good in Tucson…where MANY people speak Spanish! I learned much more as a production supervisor in a factory here. I had to communicate with my operators….and did not do very well, I fear…….🤭🫣

      Hi Leah! I’m always happy to see a comment from you. Cloves are a spice, I think, and I enjoy using them in cooking. Ysatis is indeed that kind of fragrance!😂
      While I know French well enough, I'm not 100% fluent. I picked up some Spanish by watching soap operas.🤣 Oh, I see, you’re very close to the Mexican border then. But I agree, communicating in a language in an everyday situation and learning it from a textbook (for however many years) are two entirely different things. I seem to have the same problem with French. Have a nice rest of the week!🙂

More often than not, the line was so long coming back out, he couldn't cross back into the US before the border closed for the night.
      I used to drive down, bring him home, and take him back the next morning to bring the truck back across. I didn't want him to have to sleep in his truck ( no sleeper in those trucks). Border towns aren't very safe........
