these classic fragrances are so good for summer, because they don’t have that modern sweetness, that can be very cloying in the dead of heat. the notes just play so well with the heat that they bring a natural sweetness out. amazing choices luke.
Hi there! Yes, that’s precisely why I think these scents work for summer. I tried to wear Lolitaland the other day and it was beautiful but terribly cloying. I need to wait for the weather to cool down before I reach for it again. Thanks for stopping by!🙂
I just subscribed; they don't make perfumes like they used to. I still have a lot of my 80's, 90's, and 00's Scents. If I want something long-lasting, I have to spend $200.00 and up!
I am so glad I stumbled upon your channel. Very informative and interesting. Thank you for giving vintage and "forgotten" fragrances a spotlight again. Not sure if you've done this before, but an Old Hollywood themed episode would be so interesting. Thank you!
Great video! I agree with you about wearing whatever you fancy regardless of the seasons. Had to laugh when Dune and Yvresse came up first, as I love them both in the summer too! Dune seems best suited to warmer weather on me and Yvresse is wonderful all year round. Did you ever try Yvresse Legere in the red box? I'm not sure how long it was made before discontinuation; it is also 1990's. It is a lighter and more floral version of the original Yvresse, very beautiful. I love wearing other chypre perfumes in hot weather too, like O de Lancome and Miss Dior (old version).
Thank you! Well, I like to bring out the big guns first.😂 Yvresse is definitely a powerhouse but still soft, powdery and floral. No, I haven’t tried the Legere version but I remember seeing it on eBay. It was significantly cheaper than the original. O de Lancome is nice too.🙂 Thanks for watching!
I love and wore Gucci Rush in the summer in the 90s! I love your channel, and I could listen to you speaking for hours! Love your voice and the way you describe each scent. ❤️
Hello Luke from the nine perfumes I have now I like Gucci Bamboo and Oscar de la Renta Esprit d Oscar for summer. I'd love to try Acqua di gioa Intense by Armani
Hi there! I remember trying Gucci Bamboo when it was released. I was in Harrods with my grandma and the lady sprayed it in the air when we walked past. I’ll never forget that moment. Thanks for sharing, Nancy!🙂
@@MadTracker thanks for your reply. I think it's a good perfume and projects well and he paid $29 on Amazon for a 3.4 oz. What other ones are good in that line. I like florals, or Flori/ientals. Thanks
@@nancymarkiewicz8123 Blue Orchid is nice. It has a misleading name I think since it’s really a soft aquatic floral, no hint of orchid, but lotus. It’s very pretty. If you like LVEB or Flowerbomb then the Red Velvet flanker is along the same line imo.
It’s so nice to see a summer video that isn’t all citrus scents ☺️ I always enjoy your videos Luke, thank you for all the work you do to share with us! I love that you mentioned Knowing as a potential for summer, I don’t know what it is but I am obsessed with the bottle for some reason 😅 I’ve been eyeing up some vintage auctions lately. My favorite summer scents so far this year have been: 1. Matcha Meditation by Maison Martin Margiela, a gorgeous, slightly earthy matcha scent with a little bit of chocolate in the dry down. I think it’s one of my favorites of the whole year honestly! 2. Outspoken by Fergie, this was released by Avon and it’s discontinued but I’ve seen quite a few excellently priced ones on resale sites and I love it, it’s a black currant with leather in the dry down, a little bit dark but very wearable, it’s like a summer goth scent to me! 3. Giorgio Beverly Hills, I actually got this because of you and Gabi, so thank you! It gives me driving in the summer with the windows down vibes, and I also find it very comforting. 4. Fracas by Robert Piguet, I mostly like to wear this at night for some reason, not to sleep but for if I just wake up in the night for a while. I just wear a little, I think too much and it would be overpowering, but it’s so gorgeous.
Hi there and thank you for your kind words. The Knowing bottle is so special. It’s well-made and heavy. Giorgio and Fracas are perfect tuberose scents. I don’t have the patience to take part in eBay auction but they are a great way to get rare vintage gems for less. Great list! Thanks for watching.🙂
Eau de Lancaster is perfect for summer, very green, strong and aromatic. I live in the southwest of Spain, summers are very hot, and citric perfumes usually don't match with my skin, but this perfume smells auwsome. I love Dune 🧡
Lovely choices! I don’t think I’ve ever smelled anything quite like Estée Lauder’s Knowing, to your point it seems very heavy to be worn in the summer, however; with its complexity of notes, it dried down beautifully. ☀️💛
Thank you! Yes, it is rather heavy but still lighter than most orientals and chypres in my collection. I read that it was considered a lighter chypre when it was released. Who knows. Thanks for watching!🙂🧡
This channel ROCKS! What an awesome post, thank you! Everything single scent on this his list is fabulous.🤩 I have champagne eau florale. It’s perfect for summer.
Thank you, I’m so happy that you’re enjoying my videos.🙂🧡 I haven’t heard of Champagne Eau Florale. Is it similar to the original? Thank you for watching.🙂
@@lukeparfums oh my I just realized my mistake. It’s Yvresse esu légère! Oops! My apologies! This version is less fruity and there’s a noticeable lilac note. To my nose, it smell like slightly nectarine flavored lilac champain. It love it.
No worries. Someone else asked the exact same question so I also figured out that you meant the légère version. It sounds like something that would be similar to the original but lighter. I remember seeing it on eBay. It was cheaper than the original which is now more or less a museum artefact.
@@lukeparfums thank you for understanding! 😊 I have both and you are right, eau légère is lighter, in a sense that it’s less sweet and fruity. It’s quieter with the lilac. I can’t wait to watch your next video! 🥰😎
Thanks for this lovely video! I used up a Dune fragrance back in the day , then the bottle didn't have a sprayer but it had a dabber. Such a nice fragrance but I haven't smelled it since then. I have used up 5 or more Dolce Vita bottles with a dabber and later with a sprayer , it was my wedding day fragrance. I love it and it has a special place in my ❤️ . Greetings from Hellas.
Hi there and thank you for the lovely comment. Dolce Vita and Dude did come as dabbers at first I believe, you’re absolutely right. Both are magical! Thanks for watching!🙂🧡
Love your picks Luke! I dont do seasonal perfumes but your picks arent perfumes the average person would choose 😂😂😂, GOOD JOB❤ I'm so jealous of your Yvresse bottle 😭. Did i ever tell you i used to own that bottle in the actual Champagne version and i threw it away when i finished it??? Yes i'm that idiot 😳😳😳
Thanks, I wanted this video to be unconventional. We don’t do seasons, do we?🤭 With the little common decency I have left, I switch from heavier to lighter orientals in the summer to avoid choking people out but I’m definitely not someone who categorises scents by season.😁 Oh, no! I think you mentioned it. That bottle was a work of art, a museum piece. At least it was empty. Thanks for watching!🧡
I love all your descriptions here. In particular the CD Dolce Vita oh I could so envision this. I use to work for women who had a perfume collection that was the biggest I had ever seen, half of which she inherited from her mom she had rooms in a small warehouse filled with boxes filled with perfumes going back to the 20s and 30s though most were from the 50s, 60s,70s and after. Some of them still had mink oil in them. She sold decants of them online. Oh the Gucci Rush bottle is so cool. Also love the bottle for Chantilly very retro. Green Tea sounds like it is great to spray on right out of the shower. Loved these reviews here and new friend here as well. Keep up the interesting content! 👍🥰☺
Hi there! Dolce Vita screams the South of France, believe you me.☀️ Oh my goodness, that’s so amazing! I wish I knew someone with such an impressive collection. I love the Gucci Rush bottle; so nostalgic. I love Art Deco inspired bottles such as Chantilly and Givenchy Ysatis. I’m glad you enjoyed my video. Thanks for watching!🙂🧡
Hi Luke! Your videos always remind me of perfumes that I've neglected and haven't worn in a while. I'm careful to limit my use of Yvress and Dolce Vita. I have small bottles, and I don't want to have to repurchase!😂 I imagine that Jil Sander would smell like the old Bain de Soleil suntan lotion. I definitely go easy on Coco Mad Intense in warmer weather, but I wear it. I wear anything that strikes my fancy in any season. The only fragrances that you mentioned that I don't own are Gucci, Jovan, and Green Tea. And Jil Sander. Chantilly actually predates me by 8 years!😂 I don't care for freshies either. Not even as a room spray. As always, thank you for another interesting and informative video!😊
