    As a tech, I've had really good luck with this stuff, especially with Nissan transmissions. It's a pretty sold friction modifier.
    With that milage, I don't know if it'll help much unfortunately. Those factory clutches are probably about done for.

    I used it in my 2005 Tahoe with 211000 miles on it and it definitely helped, especially in overdrive. Great video!!

    I'll table this in the "food for thought" classification. Years ago an old school mechanic told me that "back in the day" you never heard of automatic transmission failures (normal use). Tranny fluid USED to have Liquid Wax Esters in it, from Sperm Whale oil. When whaling was done away with those esters were no longer available for inclusion into the recipe for tranny fluid. "Lubegard" tells the story on their website and the Lubegard product they sell is a synthetic copy of those liquid wax esters. The mechanic was telling me this tale when I took my '90 Dodge Dakota to him for all new fluids/filters throughout. The tranny was flushed and filter changed, and we added the Lubegard as well. This would've been approx. 2004(ish). Twenty years later, that Dakota's tranny is working the way it should (still).

      I don't know what that old guy told you but they definitely had automatic transmission failures back in the day

    Loosen the nut on the trans mount down to the end of the threads. Leave the nut on. Get a bottle jack and a block of wood. Jack the trans up via the stud with the nut on the bottom until it bottoms out. The extra two inches raised should give enough space to remove the pan. Works like a charm on the GMT 800's.

    Tune the lockup out of the low gears with hp tuners. Fully lock in 5 and 6th. Boost the tc lock up pressure. Gm constantly slips the clutch. I run Mobil 1 lv atf hp.

    Just recently had a shop build my 6l80, better clutches, better drum, also put a zip kit in the valve body, put a billet tc, as well as a thermal bypass for the cooler lines in my 16 silverado. Basically built, but not like crazy billet everything built because it was having all sorts of shifting issues. Initially stemming from the obvious tc issues in the 6l80. Now it honestly drives better than the day I got it, and I only got it at 13,000 miles, and I’m only at about 47k miles now.

    I did this back in like 2003 with my 4R70W in my Lincoln Mark VIII, with Ford friction modifier. Worked great for a while. When it acted up, just dump some more down the fill tube. Lol

    Tune lockup out of 1st-4th, full lock 5-6 and up the TCC pressure. 6l80 will be bulletproofed. Only way to save a failing factory converter.

    The clunk when coming to a stop could also be the front diff mount bushings. Common failure on those and since a lot of Denali and escalades are awd it can cause a clunk on decel when it downshifts or whatever when coming to a stop. I have seen it several different ones of these trucks and fixed it.

    I have done the fluid exchange method and pan drop/filter on the last one with all my GMs. Even with decently dark fluid it's never caused a failure. If anything you extremely helped it. The modifier is interesting. My 06 Yukon Denali used to run 150-170 avg, and would go right to 200 at a hot idle. I walked a deer and changed to a Cold Case radiator, and a Tru-Cool 40k trans cooler, and ran like stock through the radiator, it barely ever gets past 150 now. Cruising is usually 130 even!

    My Caprice has a slipping converter clutch in the 4L60e, I got a tube of that same stuff on discount just for shits and giggles, and holy hell it actually improved things.
    It didn't last though, about a year later it's probably as bad as before, maybe I'll put in another tube of it. Or it's just the TCC actually going out.

  • @hungryhungryhummer
    @hungryhungryhummer 27 днів тому +1

    For the fluid temp, stock with a new trans, it is pretty common to see 200-210 occasionally 220 on these trucks. I’ve seen over 230 when towing. I agree though it’s way too hot. Definitely do the truecool 40k cooler mod.
    I have a lot of 6l80 experience with my truck. They are terrible. Brand new they are so clunky especially in awd trucks with lots of driveline slack. It literally feels like you left the transmission behind you on the highway.

    • @lsXmatt
      @lsXmatt  27 днів тому

      Thats actually great to hear😂 It is pretty clunky at times but if its normal thats a relief

    • @NZN_Motorwerks
      @NZN_Motorwerks 27 днів тому

      So i know what Matt is experiencing as my 08 (i have owned since 2020) Tahoe has recently started doing this. My Tahoe always hovered around 180-190 even on hot summer days but recent months even on a 41 degree day i saw the transmission temp quickly climb to 205-210 so i definitely think its outside the norm. This issue is also not consistent as this will happen a couple times a month. I tried doing the same flush but no luck. One thing i can note is that i removed the coolant cap and the transmission dipstick before this started happening, trying to see if there is anything related. Im also planning on testing the stock electric fans to confirm they are working on high speed.

    • @NZN_Motorwerks
      @NZN_Motorwerks 19 днів тому

      @@lsXmatt so i may have found an issue, not sure if it will resolve the temp climb but when i tried to run the high fan speed relay using a jumper wire….it only kicked on the passenger side and not the driver side fan. Low speed relay worked as both fans turned on. Im going to replace the motor and give it some time to see if the transmission temp rises again.

    My 2010 ESV does that, it stalled at a red light and started right back up, my fluid is pretty dark but doesn’t smell burnt luckily, I also have a code P0011 and thought that maybe related as well..

    Since I still can't drive my Escalade since it needs a tune after putting a new cam, deleting the vvt, duel springs etc: I took advantage to get rid of the crappy torque converter with a circle d 3200 converter and a much bigger trans cooler from mishimoto. Fwi, 6l80es AWD are not fun to take off in a garage setting 😢

  • @ColdSaintNick
    @ColdSaintNick 27 днів тому

    Looks like it fixed it for now but im pretty sure the torque converter like you said is on its way out thats another reason for your temperature to climb and will eventually cook the fluid/trans might just be why that fluid was looking pretty black had some of the same issue with my 700r4 how do i know 🤔 😮 in all time will tell

    I had the shudder, thought it was the engine. Next day wouldn’t move without RPMs. Replaced who transmission.
    Why not replace the torque converter? If the JMBX converters are the main failure you’ll likely get a lot of years out of the transmission.

      It’s a pain in the ass to do in my garage, main reason. Plus I know if I pull it I’m gonna wanna open it up then I’m into it for a rebuild. I want to do it, just not right now.

    I’m thinking of buying one of these trucks as my 2nd gen got tboned and totaled out. It’s had 3 tranny fluid changes and it is a one owner with 141k miles. It seems to have did some towing. Would that be bad?. I wish I had a way to contact you further besides the comments. I love the work you put into your videos and I’ve bought some of your merch. I really am in desperate need for creditable advice on these trucks. I’m selling my 01 WS6 6 speed TA 77k miles to a guy and I won’t want to make the wrong decision going for this generation of escalade. I hope to hear back and it would be nice if I was able to talk to you with a little more ease to ask some questions about this truck. Once again thank you for your effort in these videos!! It’s wild how I have been subbed to your for your trans am build then magically start having Cadillac videos when I’m going through this situation. Like how lucky could I get??? Very Informative UA-camr that I’m already subbed to gets the very same vehicle I’m interested in.

  • @HeadFlowInc

    • @lsXmatt
      @lsXmatt  27 днів тому +1

      The pan was dumped already when the trans line blew off a few months back, the the fluid was sorta changed. Either way the shudder fix is cheap enough I would throw it in anyway.

    🪴Retighten the value body bolts.But it also can be a cheap torque converter already in place from a similar problem so you may find the fix but the torque converter needs to be replaced with a oem torque converter.Good Job by the way.🪇
