Our Story:
We are four years into a seven year effort of transforming 20 acres of "Piney
Grove" in Northwest Florida into our dream homestead/mini farm to be filled
with animals and joy. We plan to have a variety of miniature critters on our
pastures, raise free-range chickens, grow fish in our pond, garden
organically, plant fruit and nut trees, and harvest wild game. Our goal is
to escape the stresses of corporate life and embrace all that country living
has to offer as we enter the next chapter of our lives. Follow along on our
journey!

It's been a minute since we've been able to show any pond updates....much more coming though, so stay tuned!! 📺 See one of our biggest DIY projects to divert water to the pond here: ua-cam.com/video/Hl4IQ6hdwLs/v-deo.html It was the first big job with the excavator!
Great video and content!
Beautiful place and pond, keep safe always watching from Philippines see you
Thanks for watching and the kind words! Brad&Deb
Precious sure looks small in that pond. Great video, thanks for sharing.
You are not wrong!! She's nimble and probably the perfect size for the farm for other chores, but the pond is no match for her! Thanks for watching. B&D
Nice smooth work with the excavator. With the pond full that will make the pond a lot nicer and gave you access to a lot of good dirt. I bet it was a little sketchy on the edge of the pond. The camera never quite captures the elevation, but I know it is steep!
Hey Lucas. Hopefully at some point, we won't have access that far down because the pond will be 4' deeper! 🙏 Until then, I'll keep reclaiming dirt! B&D
I heard you can run pigs or ducks in the pond area, and they'll goober it up and seal it up nice for you.
I wish we had a pond but I don't envy you having to take your big equipment down near the water on those slopes. Nice work with the excavator!
Can you dig one in your area, David? You can dig a small one with a liner and be pretty certain it doesn't leak!! Take care. B&D
It's possible to dig one and I went through the research stage and some planning, then we decided that the only suitable spot on the land was an area that we didn't want to give up. There's a winter creek on the lower boundary that doesn't flow, but it's nice to look at for a few months. We got a lot of mosquitos last year from that water, too. We may do some simpler water features in the future, but I think a pond would just take up too much space.

Greetings. Never been to Spain, but hear it is lovely. Thanks for watching.
@@PineyGroveHomestead Come and visit us. Welcome!
Looks good, i really don't like slopes with my kx71. I'm always scratching out flat spots to sit in.
Agreed! Once I get the end of the pond done, I'll be glad to be out of there! Thanks for watching. B&D
New Subscriber! Excited to get to know y’all
Thanks for dropping in. We appreciate you watching our story. Brad&Deb
What an awesome property/piece of land! I love the pond. Love the land even more!!! Do you ever have to worry about gators inhabiting your pond?
What about mosquitoes, would the pond be a breeding ground for them without fish?
Kindly
Thanks for watching. No gators this far inland. No mosquitoes to speak of on the property yet, but yes, we will put some minnows in the pond for that later. So much to do....so little time (and money)! Take care. Brad&Deb
@@PineyGroveHomestead Thank you for the good to know info regarding the gators.
Keep on developing that dream. It is looking very nice thus far!
You guys are putting out some good info & inspiration.
Much respect.
I’d be worried about if I dug a hole through the clay layer and the pond ends up with a leak.
It already leaks! I'm trying to get some fill dirt from this end before I try to seal it. Thanks for watch. B&D
@@PineyGroveHomestead Oh gotcha
BamaBass did a 5 acre pond video series. In one of the videos they had leak and repaired it with a 2 part polymer. Maybe that could be something for you to look into. Here is that video they did. ua-cam.com/video/MeNjGeXtvqc/v-deo.html - Hometown Acres also used the same polymer with good results.
We've seen it. We've gone in another direction. We'll post what we are going to use and document the process in upcoming videos. Thanks for watching. Brad&Deb
The fix for that is to dig it out more and have clay brought in to make the whole pond clay.
you are not wrong.
