Yamaha A1R Electric-Acoustic Guitar

I've been waiting a while to check out one of Yamaha's A series guitars. This is the A1R with the ARE Solid Spruce and Rosewood configuration. Nice guitar - great electronics - what do you think?

Is there a significant difference between the a1m and the a1r?

Yes, the tonal differences of Mahogany and Rosewood are perceptible to the careful listener. Both great guitars - just slightly different tonal properties.

Mahogany will have stronger mid range frequencies, while Rosewood will have more pronounced high and low frequencies. So it depends on the kind of tone you’re looking for in the guitar. That being said, with laminated back and sides I’m not sure if anyone would really be able to tell the difference unless you had them side by side to compare them.
