Design Cinema is probably the most valuable Concept Art info/advice and it's totally free, no ads too. I keep reminding myself not to take it for granted.
Thank you and anyone else involved Feng.

These are the things that should be talked about in classes and universities. If you know how to manage money flow, you know how to sustain a business. You sustain a business well, you sustain careers and build long-term stability for artists and designers. And I absolutely have to agree with you in hiring a producer/manager if you hate managing excel spreadsheets, producing invoices, and looking through contracts.

Hi Feng, thank you very much for all this content. I have been studying on your website trying to do the assignments you give your students. Pleaseeeeeee, I know you have already communicated that you don’t want to do FZD online because in person is better. But please, give us only two intense comprehensive courses you teach at FZD on “perspective and sketching”, I don’t care how much it cost just please only those two courses. I have been trying for hours to study and do the perspective assignments you give to your students. And I’m afraid my knowledge fall short, and I can’t seem to find anything that can help construct and sketch in perspective like you students do. Pleasssseeee thank you

This is very interesting, its almost exactly like what I have seen with my dad and his construction company. Similar issues with budgeting so you make a profit at the end of the project, finding and managing people. Everyone is through a referral, get your masons, carpenters, plumbers and electricians, equipment operators and mechanics to bring and manage their own people. its your responsibility to keep people on tract so you don't go over what ever your quotation was. It's project management no matter where you are working.

I’m coming up on 5 years working in Visual Effects and I’ve been prepping for the industry bounce back. I never thought about opening my own studio because I hate handling money and getting clients tho. Maybe I should look into hiring a manager / producer…. and finding some startup capital. I got into this industry because of the Design cinema (started watching in 2012ish) so now I’m definitely thinking of starting my own studio.

What do you think about Abode's new change in their Terms of Use: "Section 4.2: Licenses to Your Content. Solely for the purposes of operating or improving the Services and Software, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free sublicensable, license, to use, reproduce, publicly display, distribute, modify, create derivative works based on, publicly perform, and translate the Content....etc." It seems extremely concerning; can you tell us your thoughts on this and have any of your clients shared their concern with the possibility of their IP being seen and used by Adobe.

I'm assuming this is open to anyone.
My guess is that you have to be in the relationship pipeline. Getting there often happens organically or by pushing your way in via research and persistently pursuing leads and opportunities without being overbearing. Essentially think of how you know a gal/guy who knows a guy/gal. #networking

    Personal Notes
-When thinking about design, also think about how much the design would cost to build
-“Everything after a downfall goes up”, BE PREPARED
-FZD studio does not go to artstation, and portfolio sites to hire people, unless they cannot find anyone else.
-Personality actually matters when it comes to design, because there might be disagreements regarding the vibes/ themes between the art directors and his peepos
    - Not meeting deadlines is another factor, stop being too slow
-Take responsibility, satisfy all the requirements.
-More workloads more money, but more stress which might influence quality.
-Balance budget and schedule, allocate money per day, per month
this video is just so concise that i dont even need to take notes, the clarity is just crazy. Time to stop here i guess.

I mean, you're Feng and a great designer, but i don't often hear about such good compensations from other concept artists in the industry. Why would anyone want a high pressure job?

    • @TysonBrazilleYHWH
      @TysonBrazilleYHWH 22 дні тому

No one does unless you enjoy stress for some strange reason.
It is the nature of the pipeline and most of it has to do with practical demand and the inefficiency of human energies. We have a limit to what we can do which do not often fall in line with the demands we place upon ourselves.
If you've ever set out to accomplish a solo mission that takes a great deal of effort then that'd be your barometer for understanding how pressure changes when you add scale and more humans to the mission. You've introduced an infinite amount of variables that affect the outcome.
