I salute you for your continuous dedication to the art world and how you change people’s lives for the better! I can never thank you enough, but I’ll make sure to pass on such kindness and generosity! 🫡 Thank you, Master Feng!
Every time I see you post a video I think it may be the last one for a while, which I completely understand since you are a busy person, but the joy I've been getting through these recent constant drops is something I cannot thank you enough for.
These videos are my favorites of yours. Unedited and raw + longer format. It's perfect to watch while I work. Thanks for all that you've done with these videos through the years, I'm so happy your back to doing them. Without these videos I would've probably never gotten a job in this industry.
I absolutely love how grounded you've presented the design process. I've been beating myself for only working for 2 hours at a time in complete silence. Now hearing a professional who struggles the same thing as me is a relief and great validation.
I love the realtime stuff with your commentary. Especially that it was a whole set of Design Steps all related to the same Idea and what type of detail and solution happens at what type of sale. Very useful!
Thank you so much Feng for this extended video showing us the process from ground up. Really inspiring and informative. Definitely got me coming up with my own design solutions! Like vertical farms. But the most helpful part for me was addressing the misconceptions about the role and how much energy it takes! I did an apprenticeship with Anthony Jones few years ago and it was the first thing that hit me was how tired i was mentally. It really made me feel i wasn’t cut out for the job, but to have you admit this to be the same for you was really a huge relief! I’ve realised I’ve just put too much stress and pressure on myself to create those epic things but each time I wasn’t doing that first step of answering the 5 was and creating hard rules, so ofcourse I was doomed to fail! Thumbnailing and iterations can only go so far if you haven’t fleshed out the hard rules, so designs can go anywhere, which was definitely a problem i had. I only draw for myself atm because I have struggled a long time with losing that spark, but your recent videos are definitely helping to remind me why I chose concept design in the first place! That is priceless and I really am very thankful for that! Maybe one day I will make it after all! :)
Thank you for a 4 hour episode! This step by step process is invaluable, and I feel like it truly shows concept art and what many of us could be missing in our portfolios.
What I love about Feng is the process hasn't changed in last 10 years. Only improved and refined. Including that immortal Wacom 3. I believe it's Feng's personal Wacom.
I'm really glad to see all the continued support for this channel. I've been recommending it for years and these latest videos could not have come at a better and more needed time. Thank you for continuing to inspire and teach us.
Thank you Feng. Thanks for providing clarity and igniting back my passion for design. I put your vid on a spare monitor, and just draw "with you" for 4 hours. Good stuff.
Please do more of this stuff. We really appreciate the longer format. Personally, I often use your vids as a background noise for when I'm chipping my own thing and generally found a lot of your thoughts to be a ton of influence to my sketches.
Absolutely mindblowing that stuff like this is actually available for free, for anyone to learn from. Thank you so much Feng for sharing this stuff, your generosity is amazing! I've been learning from you ever since the Gnomon DVD days in the early 2000s! And its still pure gold to sit through 4 hours of your lessons. Not boring for a second! Thanks again and I cant wait for more Design Cinema!
Hi, thank you very much because after my two courses in artschool which were not drawing and design I learned alone with the feedback of professional friends. I have only had work for an Australian director for four years alone since then it has not been easy, I am learning to succeed in finding work through passion and have a family to support. I thank you for the time you devote to creating this free content which helps a lot to move forward, thank you very much. Ps: I live in Alsace in France so if you need reference photos don't hesitate to ask me that would be the least I can do to thank you for everything you do to others, have a nice day.
Am sure all people here love this type of video style even if it is 6 or more hours long we really love and enjoy every second of it. Learning from the master for free is a blessing. Thank you so much 🙏
[ i will and do watch all of your videos from beginning to end [ this one at 1.75x speed ] and i cherish them - you clearly help a lot of people and i can speak for myself that you're my favorite teacher on the internet - would love to go through your school one year ]
This was the most interesting thing I've watched in a while. And the amount of world-building and environment developement in 4 hours of thought+drawing is insane!
The recent batch of episodes have been filled with so many gems! I’ve watched each one 3-4 times already and I doubt this one will be any different! I’ll be here til they stop coming!
I love these real time drawing videos. I love having FZD videos in the background while I draw and this being 4 hours is a huge blessing. Don't worry about being entertaining/engaging Feng, I love listening to you speak while you draw as I'm not even really paying attention to what's on screen while I draw
I watched these videos back when I was in uni and I'm still loving them - thank you so much for the continuos drops! It's funny to see how my brain works - when you mentioned that it is good when we think "Maaaan why are you not doing it like this?" while drawing the houses I was kind like "ok, I like it". But when you got to Airships ( which I love ) I was like "oh you could do this!" and "this would look cool!". It really shows how being a nerd for something helps us design these things and how important it is to look at a variety of things before / while getting into design.
The longer videos are very good, it shows how it's done in real time. We can draw along side and aswell it avoid us to rush and to beat ourself up about not being fast enough just because for a long time the speed painting were very popular and it was easy to to quickly judge our work. I think that for a lot of people the long format is the best :)
Thank you so much Feng. Your videos from over a decade ago helped me get into the game industry and work my way up to art lead at my studio. Every single video is a Gem of information and I really appreciate everything you've given. Sincerely thank you.
fun episode! i love how when you started talking about global issues / war my mind went to the whole - ooo what if there are mineral requirements? Or like a mountain that actively hunts the monsters for rare bits? what about rain water collection changing the roof designs? also farm lands having to be below clouds for rain? also higher less vegetation and colder, also what about erosion? earthquakes? - just a lot of neat tangents to run around. Glad you provided a medium to stir up creative thoughts!
This is so great! It's very fun just watching and listening to your instructions, Feng. I hope you're able to share more of your experience and insight about concept design. For someone in my situation where I can't afford a design school, your knowledge is far more valuable than gold. Thank you so much!
keep doing these because its so helpful and it makes drawing feel so much less lonely, especially as a self-taught artist it helps with making me feel like i am not drawing alone hahaha
Oh thats long videos are awesome... please make it longer! It's rare to see the whole process in real time, and it's important to have some reasonal time-consuming process to reference. Thanks a lot for all those treasures being shared!
Mister Feng! Thank you so much for this incredible impact you have made to us! I cannot express in words all those emotions and convey all the gratitude for the knowledge that you patiently shared with us all these years This classroom environment - pure gem, thank you for sitting with us all this time instead of going to the fancy restaurant :D I'm so glad, soo inspired by your words, this type of working process you show - is exactly how i'm thinking, living, enjoying stuff; this was so cool then am i being like *woo, this is so cool, i wanna do this and that - and you answered "exactly what i wanna hear!" !! Hard stuff is more enjoyable, making something what makes people get excited and kinda transport them to another world - whats something what i wanna do all of my life You are a so big inspiration and wonderful teacher, one day, if you don't mind, i will impress you with my concepts with clearly readable thinking process! I won’t be able to convey all my gratitude in a comment, but at least a small part - Thank you so much!
It's been ages since I first sub and watch these videos. Over the years I went from wanting to be a Character designer to a Cinematographer. The videos help me learn about composition and designs that i can apply to video. Love the videos!
I had to keep coming back to this all week but I made it all the way to the end! This is incredible to see. It's all done so skillfully, but watching you do it step by step makes this seem much more achievable, and it's super helpful for me to understand what level I'm working at right now in comparison, and what more to focus on. Thanks as always for making these, looking forward to the next one to see the 3D process!
Even for established professionals, these videos are packed with good advices. I guess that is the thing when you love what you're doing you never stop learning.
Thankyou so much! I love these more design focused, theory crafting/brain storming videos. Four hours of pure joy. Incredible grateful for the wealth of content and knowledge you share Feng and it’s great to see you having so much fun!
I started learning concept art on this channel, starting at episode one. The info was mind blowing then, and still are relevant today. Even now, as an Art director off AAA studio I enjoy watching every minute of this episode. Thanks for sharing!!!
Sometimes, i almost give up to keep drawing concept art,but you always have this kind of balance to teach people about the fun and hard staff from this career, thanks a lot
This is a look on how ideas are being born. Is like watching a miracle. Feng, thx for being there, you are true inspiration. Am just illustrator- beginner, but to watch this amazing proces lets creativity flow.
Thank You Feng for sharing your knowledge and experience. I am your fan from 2003, when I started studing Industrial Design (those Copic marker step by step sketches!). Later on i started my career in Yacht Design Industry. Some years have past and I am now considering getting into entertainment industry : )
Awesome video Feng, thank you soo much for it !!! It's so great to see the whole process in real time and I would even watch it for 8 hours :) I usually draw while listening and watch you draw, it feels like sitting in an office with you.
Pure gold here, I watched your video in several sessions so I am good with more videos like this where we can see you draw and go through your idea process, thanks for the video!
I just say that I don't take these videos for granted! The information in these episodes are invaluable, and I honestly wish I had chosen your school over my education. I think I speak for all of us when I say I'm glad you're back!
Thank you so much Feng, I was unable to afford art school and thanks to kind people like yourselves I am finally a working professional so keep making these these, and tbh I like longer formats!
wtf I was looking through your artstation, inspiring stuff man, the religious sanctum with the giant bell is so good, I appreciate that you put the sketches and reference I always like getting to know a little more of the process of any artist to know how they come up with ideas. Are you working on the industry now?
I absolutely love long form videos like this! It's extremely inspirational to see you work in real-time and talk through what you are doing. It's also great to have on whilst I'm working as it makes me more productive as well, like I'm sat next to a colleague and they are giving amazing advice! haha
This was Incredible, thank you for posting a real time drawing video. Was nice to see things done at that pace. And, Soldier was a GREAT movie, watched it so many times when I was younger. Rad that you were involved in it! Take care. Appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos.
This stuff is so valuable to see worked out in real time.. Even though sped up videos are obviously sped up, its hard to understand the thought process behind design, and I've made bad habits over the years of rushing the process in favour of getting something going rather than working out a high quality design
This video alone probably made some TikTokers have an aneurism over a 'missed chance to create a year worth of short form content' :D A million thanks for making these, and not just that, but for free!
I don't know how to express my gratitude for this man, thank you so much for everything and I hope you continue to upload, I'm watching every episode at least 2 times each 🔥 keep with the long videos, we love it
You didn't lie about episode being long, 4 hours !! I'm gonna enjoy watching this little by little, it's like 2 or 3 fzd episodes in one haha, I like to see you sketching, it kinda has your own style
Thank you so much for the real time video. It's my 4th time watching it since its released. I've been trying to do my own IP as well together with this video, and man I still couldn't keep up hahaha. Mostly it was because I have to stop drawing and look for more references. Gathering reference alone took a lot of time, and it really disrupt the flow. But I think the more I'm used to it, the more I can become more fluent with this process. I really enjoy this type of video because I can comfortably take my time and work instead of thinking of how slow I am compare to other artist who produce stuff in just 1 hour. Thank you for reminding me that design takes time. I really can't wait for the next two episodes! And I hope by that time I can finish all of the sketches ideas for my own IP so I'll be ready for the next step! You're an inspiration!
You have no idea how valuable it is that you’re doing this on an Intuos 3. People are under so much pressure to get the newest and shiniest toys as the key to good art while such a pro rocks a 15 year old pen tablet. We need to dismantle these myths
I love your videos 😊Thank you so much for doing them. There is always a bit of wisdom that is transferable to fields beyond the concept design field. That's why I always watch them.
absolutely unbelievable content. to be able to see into the mind of someone at your level like this, on youtube is amazing. thank you so much for what you do feng. (also i just came back from a hk trip, it’s so awesome)
Thank you so much for these series of videos, they are amazing, you really help me to feel very motivated about future and about my art career. I'm so grateful!!
Ironically I still love your old pen and marker work from back in the day... But maybe it's because I work in photoshop all day that I love to see and work with traditional media more at home.
This is absolutely invaluable content! The real time process is so cool to see. Gives us so many ideas too while you are working on these designs! Please keep doing this when you can. Really helps everyone a lot!
Thank you everyone for the great comments and feedback. We'll keep the episodes coming!
Words cannot express how vital you are to the entire creative industry....
Thank you for the effort you put into this!
I salute you for your continuous dedication to the art world and how you change people’s lives for the better! I can never thank you enough, but I’ll make sure to pass on such kindness and generosity! 🫡 Thank you, Master Feng!
We will never thank you enough for the time you put into these. But thank you!!
Make a 1000 more!❤
Every time I see you post a video I think it may be the last one for a while, which I completely understand since you are a busy person, but the joy I've been getting through these recent constant drops is something I cannot thank you enough for.
It was, indeed, almost the last one for a while 😭
4 hours of chill good-ness. thank you.
3:19:55 YES! We love hearing your design process in real time! I love all the changes you make while drawing! We LOVE long videos!
4 hours of pure gold! Thank you!
I could literally watch these design sketching videos everyday all day..
These videos are my favorites of yours. Unedited and raw + longer format. It's perfect to watch while I work. Thanks for all that you've done with these videos through the years, I'm so happy your back to doing them. Without these videos I would've probably never gotten a job in this industry.
I really dont care if the video is long. I just continue watching later if its long. I love seeing this in real time. Thank you once again!
I absolutely love how grounded you've presented the design process. I've been beating myself for only working for 2 hours at a time in complete silence. Now hearing a professional who struggles the same thing as me is a relief and great validation.
Thank you design GODS for this precious time given to us mere mortals.
I love the realtime stuff with your commentary. Especially that it was a whole set of Design Steps all related to the same Idea and what type of detail and solution happens at what type of sale. Very useful!

i cant believe this valueable information is for free! thank you feng, you are a hero!!
Man, not even 40 mins in and already so much information to chew on.. you're really spoiling us here Feng 😄
This channel is a gem. It has so much content to study. Thanks master Feng Zhu! Gonna watch this whole video throughout the week. 🔥🤘
I'm really glad to see all the continued support for this channel. I've been recommending it for years and these latest videos could not have come at a better and more needed time. Thank you for continuing to inspire and teach us.
Can't express my gratitude enough for this, Feng. Legend
Thank you Feng. Thanks for providing clarity and igniting back my passion for design. I put your vid on a spare monitor, and just draw "with you" for 4 hours. Good stuff.
Highly agree on the sped up “clickbait” vs realtime. Great to get a real sense of the time and effort put in.
Please do more of this stuff. We really appreciate the longer format. Personally, I often use your vids as a background noise for when I'm chipping my own thing and generally found a lot of your thoughts to be a ton of influence to my sketches.

It's been more than 10years since I first stumbled upon your videos and I am so glad it is still ongoing. Thank you your classes Feng!

This was the most interesting thing I've watched in a while. And the amount of world-building and environment developement in 4 hours of thought+drawing is insane!
THANK YOU! Every video (and this in particular) you put out is a Masterclass in concept design. And you give that away for FREE!
Feng you think we're scared of long videos bro, this is gold for us, thank you!
Thank you so much for working extra time to produce such valuable content for us!!!
Very inspiring to see what Feng Zu does with an 18 year old tablet.
The recent batch of episodes have been filled with so many gems! I’ve watched each one 3-4 times already and I doubt this one will be any different! I’ll be here til they stop coming!
Absolutely love the real time long format style of this video! Thanks for your time Feng!
This, as background noise, while working on my own project is better than music. Keep em coming!
I love these real time drawing videos. I love having FZD videos in the background while I draw and this being 4 hours is a huge blessing. Don't worry about being entertaining/engaging Feng, I love listening to you speak while you draw as I'm not even really paying attention to what's on screen while I draw
Holy cow I remember this channel from over a decade or so ago, happy I managed to rediscover it.
I value these so much!!!! Please continue the Realtime content. I work alongside you and it has been such a tremendous value.
I watched these videos back when I was in uni and I'm still loving them - thank you so much for the continuos drops!

Thank you so much for the amount of effort, but even more for your time that goes into this content. You're a legend.
Soldier!!! omfg, watching that was one my favorite childhood memories, but i could never remember the name. Thank you for your work!
Been watching your stuff for more than 10 years now, keep it going and please more long format like this one
It’s really great to have you back on UA-cam Feng! Your recent videos are a breath of fresh air
Can't thank you enough for the work that you do for the community. Feels like I should be paying for something like this.
The longer videos are very good, it shows how it's done in real time. We can draw along side and aswell it avoid us to rush and to beat ourself up about not being fast enough just because for a long time the speed painting were very popular and it was easy to to quickly judge our work.
Just finished the 4 hour long video and every single second of it was so valuable!
This is so great! It's very fun just watching and listening to your instructions, Feng. I hope you're able to share more of your experience and insight about concept design. For someone in my situation where I can't afford a design school, your knowledge is far more valuable than gold.

keep doing these because its so helpful and it makes drawing feel so much less lonely, especially as a self-taught artist it helps with making me feel like i am not drawing alone hahaha
Oh thats long videos are awesome... please make it longer! It's rare to see the whole process in real time, and it's important to have some reasonal time-consuming process to reference. Thanks a lot for all those treasures being shared!
I always look forward to these and I'm just now seeing it, 1 month later. Thank you for spending time making a new video!
Mister Feng! Thank you so much for this incredible impact you have made to us! I cannot express in words all those emotions and convey all the gratitude for the knowledge that you patiently shared with us all these years
This classroom environment - pure gem, thank you for sitting with us all this time instead of going to the fancy restaurant :D
I'm so glad, soo inspired by your words, this type of working process you show - is exactly how i'm thinking, living, enjoying stuff; this was so cool then am i being like *woo, this is so cool, i wanna do this and that - and you answered "exactly what i wanna hear!" !! Hard stuff is more enjoyable, making something what makes people get excited and kinda transport them to another world - whats something what i wanna do all of my life
You are a so big inspiration and wonderful teacher, one day, if you don't mind, i will impress you with my concepts with clearly readable thinking process!
I guess that is the thing when you love what you're doing you never stop learning.
love these videos, since you re-started streaming I found again my long lost inspiration :)

Awesome video Feng, thank you soo much for it !!! It's so great to see the whole process in real time and I would even watch it for 8 hours :) I usually draw while listening and watch you draw, it feels like sitting in an office with you.

The longer these episodes, the better! Excellent stuff Feng. Thank you so much for sharing such invaluable knowledge with us Concept Designers...
One of the best episodes. Plenty of useful information. Thanks.
4 hr episode! Love to see you back on the channel!
I absolutely love long form videos like this! It's extremely inspirational to see you work in real-time and talk through what you are doing. It's also great to have on whilst I'm working as it makes me more productive as well, like I'm sat next to a colleague and they are giving amazing advice! haha
I always thought the world of these videos when I was a kid. Now that Im an adult I enjoy them just as much, if not more.
Love the real-time drawing, helps to not warp my expectations for my own drawings. Much appreciated
Been checking my subscriptions every few hours for these new videos to drop 😂 thanks a lot
Thank you so much for sharing this, one of the best tutorials I've ever watched!
This was Incredible, thank you for posting a real time drawing video. Was nice to see things done at that pace. And, Soldier was a GREAT movie, watched it so many times when I was younger. Rad that you were involved in it! Take care. Appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos.

I'm not even a concept artist (3D artists myself) and I still find the videos interesting to watch and learn from. 🔥
This video alone probably made some TikTokers have an aneurism over a 'missed chance to create a year worth of short form content' :D A million thanks for making these, and not just that, but for free!
I don't know how to express my gratitude for this man, thank you so much for everything and I hope you continue to upload, I'm watching every episode at least 2 times each 🔥 keep with the long videos, we love it
When I first watched FZD almost 15 years ago, I bought an Intuos 4 with my CNY money, and I still use it to this day.
I'm working on a portfolio project and this video came at just the perfect time for me to understand what to do next.
Oh my I'm pumped!!! YES that first slide is setting up the field for a great take off 🔥💪

Hi Feng thank you so much for making these videos ! I've been following them from the beginning, you're amazing !
I'm learning a lot from you. Thanks Feng!
Your videos are really gold, thank you a lot. Those videos rly help me to find the right mindset and the discipline to not give up!
This is absolutely invaluable content! The real time process is so cool to see. Gives us so many ideas too while you are working on these designs! Please keep doing this when you can. Really helps everyone a lot!
if we could have more of you in all fields... there would be no anxiety or depression in youngsters and students.
