Watch the new pros and cons video with the new tune! A lot of the problems I had in this video are gone! So hopefully it will help guide you and get you more information👍 ua-cam.com/video/WkwKSZkCLAo/v-deo.html
Equipment I used in the video:
Gopro Hero 4 Black: amzn.to/2GIFPRB
Gopro Housing: amzn.to/2FFi9fS
Joby suction cup mount: amzn.to/2EBcb07
I drive 100 miles a day in my z71 chevey silverado its not bad i clime trew mountins and curves like crazy lol...i have 2 videos on my truck if u would like to check them out?? I subbed by the way :)
Who put the cam in? Cost breakdown?
How much would just the cam & installation? No stall, no headers, no exhaust
I put it in the cam with my dad, I do have a video showing what all you need. But the whole swap was alittle over $1000, plus about $300 for a tune.
Built 5.3, Big cam, 1 7/8 long tubes, 3 inch Y-pipe, electric cutouts, stock 6.2L exhaust, Yank SS 4000k, 4.11 gears with a truetrac. The truck was dropped 5.5 inches in the front, 9 in the rear on 20s. It averaged 19 miles to the gallon, and was no louder than a stock truck, until I opened the cutout.
Cons there are no cons to a cammed ls
Dead.... lol
Except gas 😂
Joseanarr we aren’t here for gas lmao
Mathew Bevillard unless you are in Cali, gas ain’t a problem, it’s like $2 everywhere else but in Cali it’s $4 right now lmfao
Tom Wetz you know what your talking about! So what’s the cons cuz know I don’t wanna cam my 6.2 GMC
Smiles Per Gallon 😁
A nice professional tune will definitely help the fuel economy
Shit that’s the gas mileage I get now
I have a cammed prius. Bring it Silverado boy !!!
My gas mileage changed about 5% with a dyno tune, the lope can be tuned to the level you want sort of, and you can run a quieter muffler like a Flowmaster 44 or 50 and it will still sound nice 👍 keep your epa cats delete the third cat (carb cat) delete that for better flow. Also get a 224/224 or lower duration cam so you get more power across the entire rpm band. And a 112 LSA will give you strong lope but not super crazy lik a 110 LSA. 114 will sound closer to stock.
Once again a dyno is a must for drivability. With supporting mods on a Gen IV and a tune I’m well above 400 horsepower
Thanx for explaining with detail about driving a cammed silverado/sierra. Thumbs up and keep us posted with future mods on your truck.
+david martin thanks! And will do
Dude you nailed it with the pros and cons. I'm doing this a second time. I have a 09 Silverado, it's been rebuilt 6 times. Each time has been lifters and the cam. A miss fire! I did the dod delete and a cam again on a new 54k 5.3 drop out from a 2013 sierra. Actually starting tomorrow, cam, springs, lifters etc
Cons of driving a cammed Silverado:
You can't afford a new pair of sunglasses
Add a shift kit to your transmission, and get a tune to help out with the power management. Also the more duration, separation and lift on your cam will affect the power band. The less duration, separation and lift, the lower the power band and engine RPM. At least that's my understanding of it.
Need a tune bud helps with everything you just described
Exactly
Tune it and will change everything
Who tunes ??? I need one
Std performance tunes most chevys
Sounds like you need a tune which is a no brainer when getting a cam.
+Daniel Diaz it is tuned
Getting the surge is weird, what's your idle rpm are you set at, and how big of a cam did you get?
To compensate for the "early" shifting you might want to look into a higher stall for the transmission, and a lower gear ratio for the rear end, not sure what you have on there now.
+Daniel Diaz I think the surging and shifting is happening because I don't have a higher stall. I just have a comp cam 220/220 just with the 3.42 gears.
Cominus 06 I have an LS1 cam in my 2006 Silverado should I have it tuned
@@danielvallejo3328 yes
That’s loud? I thought you were driving a Tesla.
@1970 chevy chevelle ss my 69 C10 has a 355 with a massive hydraulic roller cam with 10.5:1 compression along with dual straight pipes and long tubed headers. That thing will put nearly anything to shame
Actually I have a 2015 chevy z71 its loud on the outside. It just has a good sealed closure when you have the windows up.
Camera makes a big difference. It's designed to filter out that noise.
@1970 chevy chevelle ss Wdym? Literally everything sounds quieter on a camera. Have you ever filmed something? They make it so you can still hear the person speaking.
This guy is just trolling, he’s been on a couple of my videos. I don’t mind the extra views though lol
I daily drove a 416ci LS3 TBSS for years with a big converter and on 28" drag radials. I'm working on building the LS2 from it to drop in my Yukon. I love fast trucks. GET A GOOD CONVERTER AND SWAP THE REAR GEARS. Those two things alone will solve alot of your problems. You won't believe the difference in the truck.
Yeah this is an old video. I do have a high stall converter now and it’s great
5:30 if the trucks pushing you thru the light your stalls to low . If your putting your foot flat on the brakes it could be the motor surging bc it wants to go but you got the breaks locked up bc the trucks trying tow push u thru the sign
Did i miss the part when he named the cons. ???
Should have went with a smaller 210/218 duration range. Especially with stock stall. Best cam rage hands down. Gain power from idle to redline.
When I had my 05 Sierra cammed the tuner cleaned up all the issues you are having.. I also did headers a full exhaust, a S&B cold air intake. It doesn’t seem a lot faster but it sure pulls the camper easier.
Suggestions? I will upgrade 6.0 for towing. So I am looking at videos & Google for information. Thanks if you make a suggestion.
louder exhaust after came ?!? put a bigger muffler on it to bring it back down. also that would help not making the neighbors mad leaving early or coming in late
get a stall to help with the lower torque. it allows the truck get to the 3000rpms faster... a nice 2600-2800rpm stall would be enough but 3200stall would be best. look at circle D
also add a trucool 40k to keep the temp of transmission temp down.
surging has to do with the idle air being metered threw the throttle body. lot of times i seen people need to drill out the hole in the throttle plate a size or so bigger. also helps with the idle tuning. start looking there to fix that.
Greg Mushen m
I have to agree and for those fun moments have an electric exhaust to let it rip
Deff wouldn't put a quiet exhaust on a cammed truck. Pointless.
You can always get cutouts, so it’s quiet when you need it and loud when you want it.
Sounds like you really need a tune. That’s a pretty small cam to have surging issues, not to mention your shifting issues. It’s all fixed with the tune and the right tuner. For example, my 6.0L in my car with 230/238 cam has no surging, relatively smooth idle for what it is( you know there’s a cam in it) and smooth power band.
Yeah it’s all fixed now, someone else tuned it for me
This channel is so underrated.
I have 7.5” and a 6.2 and I get 10 mpg. I nicknamed it the beast because it is very capable of doing almost anything.
Same I got a cammed denali 6.2L
Loud is the only reason why I would cam anyways love the sound
There is no downside to putting a cam in your truck if you pick the right cam. Literally there are no negatives, because the right cam and valve train setup for your truck, properly tuned, will make more power everywhere in the rev range. The only way you will see downsides such as loss of low speed torque, poor fuel mileage, drivability issues etc. is if you go with the he wrong camshaft profile for your setup or have a shitty tune. With the right profile you can literally take a bone stock truck, install the cam, tune it on regular 87 octane, and still pickup a solid 30 HP or so over stock while actually gaining a few mpg. How can you find a negative in that? And it only gets better from there; if you add supporting mods such as a good set of longtubes, a good flowing intake and/or heads that flow better than stock castings and tune on 93 or E85 you can pickup upwards of 100 HP over a stock truck while again not losing any ability to daily drive the vehicle.
You can have a quiet exhaust and still have performance. Fast and quiet is such a thing
Electric CutOuts buddy!!👍
Tune it soon bro. You need the right fuel to air ratio or else you'll stall out. Which is the big cam mistake people make. Tune it or else those small problems you've been facing will turn into disasters. Thanks for the video man. And remember, no such thing as too loud. Best of luck !
+jacob maland it is tuned in the video, and when I got my tranny retuned I had a different tuner look at my engine tune to see if it was okay and everything was fine. The only thing he didn't like was the timing but he said it wouldn't hurt anything.
Don't forget your Trans cooler when you go with a stall convertor.
Xavier Xavier woukd a max trailering package take care of that?
12MPG!!! My Tahoe makes 8 WTF!!!!
You're lucky 😂
I mine is hafl way as I wamt it and has 6 lift kit. I become broke for the freaking $3 gallon 😂
lol, my parents gmc yukon denali gets 13 city stock lol
The surging and lack of brakes is because you need a torque converter. Also why it doesn’t come alive quicker, the stock converter is way too low. Always compare the cam power with the converter rpms. Even in a stock tuned truck a 2800 converter is night and day difference!
12 mpg average?? I'm getting 8-12 mpg MAX in my stock 2000 silverado 1500
I average like 14.6 15 mpg high way in my 09 Silverado bone stock I wish I could get 18 on the high way 😂
Something is wrong with your truck. Mine gets 17-22
Get it check
Something has to be wrong, 'cause regularly is 10 - 14 😂
LUZBEL I get like 10 and my truck only has 98k in minty condition 😭😭
@@derekisderek1235
I got two, the single cab made 10 C. And 14 H.
Gas mileage depends on weight and power of your vehicle
I got the Denali check, It made 5 on city and 9 on highway. After a cam, heads and 6.2 conversion
I don't want to more about any other upgrade 😐
few years late but judging from your cons it sounds like you needed to get it tuned to smooth everything out and get better fuel economy.
You can never get to loud. My mustang gt is straight piped/cams and I want more louder
You don't get pulled over?
It's your idle air control it's with your throttle body mine used to do the same
How did you fix it
My brother had a 2009 G8 w an Ls swap (Ls3) with a 231/242 camshaft and it sounded like a complete beast W/out headers only had some other small modifications , a cam really bring out a lot of attention specially when it's just on a red light.
*crying with having to go watch old videos for my 5.7 cast iron because no one else really uploads for it*
12.7 mpg not bad considering at 13.6 mpg and all I have is stock 5.3 k&n intake and no muff dumped.
Always do a stall with a cam swap is what I've been told. I have exhaust cutouts that I leave opened all the time and those are loud. Camming my Silverado in about a week. Doing the stall and tune at the same time. Then rear end gears and long tubes. Last item will be a supercharger. Already have cold air intake, tuner, dual exhaust with cutouts and an electric fan. Since I have the 4.8 I'll only get about 500 to 600 hp out of the motor but that's enough for me, I'm not dragging on the strip. Just want to embarrass the idiots who roll up with new cars and trucks that think my old street shark can't get up and go
+Raider Jim correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that in the 4.8s the cranks can hold quite a bit of boost and push a lot of power on the stock block, but of course make sure the rings have enough gap in them
It's my first 4.8 and from two friends who build performance cars and drag trucks they don't recommend more than about 600 at the wheel on a daily driver. The one friend who builds drag trucks just picked up an 05 4.8 that he's going to try and crank it up to 1000hp with bolt on, turbo and nitro. I'm sure I could get more than 600 out of mine but then it's not a truck I can take on a few hours trip or even a quick trip to the store. in fact my friend has a customer's 1200 hp firebird in his shop because he used it like a daily driver.
+Raider Jim yeah the hardest part about it is making a lot of power but keeping that reliability. I plan on doing a stall, gears and eventually boosting but the stuff ain't cheap..
no its not. Cheap bolt on like plugs, coils, cold air, exhaust and hand held tuners for about 1500 to 2k but serious like cam, springs, rods, stall and tune can run 3k or more
+Raider Jim my camswap/headers and tune cost maybe $3,000 total but I need to look back at the receipts I think it was quite a bit less
I have a 06 cateye crewcab and is currently in the shop getting the btr stage 4 cam built stage 2 trans and a circle D 3000-3,200 stall. Other mods are longtube headers, 4.11 gears, cold air intake, exhaust and has 6" lift on 35s. Cannot wait to get it back! Should be a fun truck
Going threw a drive thru I just put it in neutral👍
Or turn it off lol
Well I don't think your cons are necessarily having to do ONLY with the cam.I hope some of this helps, not trying to be a know it all but I've been through a lot of this before...
Biggest issue I notice is you don't have a stall converter.
That is the reason you get your truck wanting to "push" at a stop as it lopes, looser converter is seriously needed if that is the case.
Same for the "searching for gear", a lot may think it's in the tune but it's the lack of having the correct stall converter.
When you hit the gas and the truck downshifts it needs converter to be in correct powerband, if you don't have a converter when it drops a gear it does not have correct power and also due to that it sends different MAP signal then what it expects and causes all kinds of issues.
I feel once you get a properly matched setup then you will be doing a lot better off.
Also on exhaust being load that is all what you build it with, my truck has Doug Thorley long tubes, no cats, 2.5" duals, perforated core mufflers, and dumped in rear corners near bumper. It dynoed at 667hp and when coasting to a stop you can hardly tell it's on.
And my engine is a stroked/cammed straub technologies 496 and I can drive it everywhere, hell it drives so good my wife dailys it on occasion.
Cons for me are 1. Poor mileage (that's a given)2. Gas/unburnt exhaust smell (always a PITA that is due to idle overlap)
+Daniel Gonzales yeah I know I need to get a stall for it and it will run a lot better, but thanks for the info!
Which stage did you pick for your cam ?
Have you taken it the track yet? The surging you are talking about is cam related. If you still have it then you need to get it tuned ASAP. Also they can pull a stock converter off and loosen it up a little bit. Any converter will blow your mind at the improvement.
Very helpful, thanks. Now I know what cam not to get. You have to ask yourself "how do I use my truck and where do I want my power".
This video is hilarious you gotta be high to watch this guy funny af 😂😂😂😂
Not as loud as my daily driven 94 K1500... Hooker long tubes with 18" glass packs dumping under the floor boards...
+45shfifty just reading that sounds loud lol
Sounds like it claps like a tarp in the wind
+PlugDumps sounds like it sounds like crap
Glass pack? gross..
Sounds like shit
Cammed 13' GMC 5.3 here. One other con I have is when driving slowly like in a parking lot, the engine wants to load up when I'm just rolling along with no foot on the gas or the brake and I have to ride the brake to keep it idled down.
+bbart25 I haven't had a problem with that, just when I'm trying to slow down or idling it wants to jump around in the rpms when it's in drive.
I have a 5.3 sierra stepside from 01. Hollowed cats and dumps before the pass door out the side. It is stupid loud. Dont worry youll be ok.
5 inch exit too, from a 3 inch pipe.
Switching to a 4l80e with a 2800 stall will stop that on ramp issue. That 6l90e not it.
Thanks for video, I have to replace lifters in my 07 classic with a 5.3 so might as well cam it to help pull boat.
if you put it in neutral you when you come to a stop sign/red light you won't have a problem with it trying to jump forward or keep going on you
+clayton davis I know lol that's what I said in the video
Just finished my cam avalanche and yes its alot fast for a 6k lbs truck and I got a mild cam funny part is I got better gas mileage lol told cam 10-13 now 12-18 but if I floor it 9-14 mpg. U guest have to keep getting it tune to get it to stop surfing mine did that when I brake it's a tune issue if u haven't fixed it by now. I got a total DOD delete kit
Yeah I have an 02 Silverado 5.3, rcd 6"lift, 3"body, 513 gear, Tru Trac, 37 Baja claws, headers, gutted cats, straight pipe true duals, H pipe, TB spacer, comp thumper cam, 2500 stall, cold air, hypertech power pack, monster HD trans (straight piece of shit) I can go on and on but that's the most of it and I get 7mpg on a good day with stock tune you do have to left foot brake at red lights to keep it running and it will surge so do not tailgate at a red light but it is a confidence booster just driving it will make your day a good day I got the truck when I was 17 and I'm 30 now live on a farm plenty of wild nights together I wouldn't trade it for ANYTHING! I BUILT IT the way I WANT IT and it's perfect I'm swapping a 6.0 and a 4l80 bc I have I wrecked a 05 2500 might axle swap IDK
next video better be burn outs and donuts
+Abram Ruelas if you're willing to pay for new tires I'll be more than glad to do that😂
John Vesely junk yard tires!
True, if I can find a cheap set I'll definitely shred some rubber!
somebody is in the bluff! Good video!
The surging means that its loading up on you be careful not to foul out spark plugs.
what about a stage 1 cam with modest mods.....
2015 Silverado 1500 5.3L
-Longtubes
-3inch In/Out Catless Ypipe
-muffler and rear resonator delete
AirRaid MIT tube
Amsoil dry filter
L86 (6.2L) intake manifold
future mods
-lower thermostat
Jet PowerFlo Throttlebody
When I built my new HCI 5.3 it dropped 1-2 mpg compared to the old LS1 (98 TA)but picked up a lot of power so its totally worth it
See, I don't mind camming mine, the problem is living in an apartment complex and worrying about annoying the neighbors. I mean, I already have an exhaust and soon to be long tubes.
I used to put my truck in neutral and roll down the hill a little bit to start it lol
Also get a tuck intake manifold w shorter runners so you can get a little more bottom end torque
im getting 14 city in the tahoe 19 highway btr truck cam and head work. mpgs can be somewhat fixed by a street tune. plus I also had heads and block milled and thinner head gasket it's at like 9.8:1 compression had it retuned he used less fuel to make the same power.
Great vid what stage category would that cam be in BTR or TSP Specs?
I have a 3400 stall and will be getting a custom grid next week 230/244 114+4 .595 .605 errrrrr 110 intake 118 exhaust ls7 lifters and btr .660 springs etc
I’m putting a stage 1 Brian Tooley Racing cam in mine. I need the extra torque for pulling my 30’ Travel Trailer and 24’ pontoon.
Honestly a stock cam is your best bet for low end torque. For the amount of money your spending on a cam the hp difference won’t be as much. Might as well save a little more to boost it. You’ll get way more torque for towing
good video man thanks. I ended up selling my 5.3 cammed silverado, it was just too damn loud for drives and had to shut it off to talk to drive thrus. if it was not my family vehicle I would of kept it.
+Joe Blo I know, people say just get a quiet exhaust but then you can't hear the cam.. unless you have cutouts
John Vesely yea between the rusted rockers and wheels , I dumped t while it still looked good lol I'm in the salt belt in ohio and mine was an 06 crew cab.
+Joe Blo I live on coast so rust is everywhere, right now it's just surface rust but I need to take care of it before it gets worse
John Vesely gotcha , yea I spent 2000 on rockers and front wheel for right side then the next year the drivers side needed done and I was like forget that
Bro all of your tips and information is not correct at all, just saying...
Depending on the cam you get you do not need a stall converter. There are a lot of cams that pull from idle/1200-6500 RPM. Most folks don't add an aftermarket cam worried about fuel mileage. If you have other mods that compliment the cam such as an aftermarket intake manifold or ported manifold, CAI, aftermarket throttle body or ported throttle body, full exhaust, gear and of course a tune by a reputable person/shop then the cam will benefit your truck most. A cam without any other supporting mods will hurt power rather than help it even if it is a cam with a tune, not an ideal upgrade. Do not blow your money on expensive and time consuming port/polish work when these LS stock heads actually flow very well. Port the intake and throttle body and be done with it. When you add an exhaust be sure to use long tube headers to get the full efficiency and power from your exhaust mods. An engine needs to breathe out just as much as it needs to breathe in! Have your tuner disable the rear O2 sensors and so forth. If you use 3.73 gear it will benefit most stage 1 or stage 2 aftermarket cams the best for fuel efficiency and driveability unless you are strictly building a street/strip truck or a sleeper. There are many options for cams, many and a company like Texas Speed will sell you and push you towards what you need, not what you want because most folks have no idea what they actually need anyways.
Your loping pblm at the stoplight is your tune
Hell that’s better then my 6.0 stock
what...from the research i done u can get a cam for better towing by lowering the powerband instead of raising it, also i seen videos of quite 6.0s with good mufflers
Cool vid man!. Glad more people are posting about this truck. My 2014 just ate a lifter and offed the cyl 1 intake lobe in the process. Been wanting to cam mine for a few years just never got around to it. Now I don't have a choice lol Couple ?s Whats your idle RPM set at? Did you diy the install and/or tune? And did you tune the trans with the engine or mod the tune for converter clutch lockup? Is it a dog right after 1st gear? If you unlock that f'er 1st-4th you'll definitely see a boost in acceleration rate. Ask me how I know... Haha Again cool vid bud
What size cam? Sounds like it’s pretty aggressive. Maybe a mild or ls6 cam would be a good daily driver.
12.4! Shit. I'm lifted 6 inches with 35's on my Sierra and avg 15-16 at the pump. 50/50 highway/city driving.
+Ja M that's what I was getting stock was about 15 average. On the highway it's not too bad, just the city driving is what kills the mileage
Yeah I get an avg of about 14 -15 with just the intake exhaust and 33” tires. Definitely looking forward to loosing a few mpg(sadly) with the cam upgrade lol
Our Land Cruiser is bone stock and gets worse milage lol. Looking forward to a cam swap on the Yukon.
Try a duramax straight piped and high idle in the winter time. Hell of a lot louder coldstart.
Nice vid ,,What specs is your cam?
this is an awesome video. I'm actually getting ready to buy a 89 1500 Silverado W/T from a friend. currently has a 4.3 but i have an LS from a wrecked 2014 Corvette I'm going through for the swap.
again, great video! great content. subbed for life!
You have to put a stall converter for everything to work correctly and most likely bigger injectors with a correct tune. I"m making 345 to the ground with 369 ft lbs of torque with translates to about a 440hp at the flywheel. Your ruining your truck running without a dyno tune, it may be running to lean. Just FYI 2001 Silverado.
+Avinal Pal I know I need a stall. And I've looked at the tune and all the numbers are correct and everything is in the safe zone.
I have a Craftsmen lawnmower tractor with the kholer pro-series v-twin in it that I rebuilt a while ago, and if you let it idle long enough it will get really lopy (think like a dragster) and my mom gets pissed off at me when I let it lope because she thinks it'll ruin the engine, and then she'll get even more pissed off when I tell/explain to her it's not actually doing anything.
like that orange square body in the nabor hood
Dalton Bowman I
Well said my friend
I had a 69 Elco when I was 19 to 29 and put a stupid cam in it. It was WAY to big, finally pit some dart 202 heads on it thinking that would help, it sucked. So its easy to go too big, it sounded cool but thats about it.
Did you delete the dod when you installed the cam? New lifters? Springs? Or pushrods?
Yes, new lifters, springs and pushrods
spid!!!!!!figured out about 5min in cool
+rbarrera71 barrera haha yessir
A corsa would let you have a good convo in the cab... a vacuum line on that trans would also help with a shift kit.... I miss my transmission but I kept blowing it out with that I recommend a aftermarket trans cooler
+Silverado08JP what do you mean a vacuum line? Isn't there already one on it?
Drilling a hole in it so it have a vacuum line of course the way I did it it shifted super super hard
+Silverado08JP it shifts pretty hard already, it spins the tires on shift 1st to 2nd gear the 2nd to 3rd gear
Loud is dope!!!!! Gas mileage solved by installing GPL,. at least in Europe
Your truck is quiet.my 98 Chevy with long tube headers and welded thrush mufflers are louder then that. Can't wait to get a cam :-)
just wait, your truck will be even louder😅
That surge is because you are running the stock converter never use a stock converter when you cam anything
thats not bad gas mileage at all.. i get 8-10mpg with just an SAS. and minor engine ad ons (tuner, intake, headers, dual exhaust, ignition upgrades). you only lose your torque with the cam you chose. you can gain torque with a cam designed for low end torque
I have a 2009 Silverado 5.3 4spd that I have 190k miles on. I drive a lot of highway miles and I tow a lot, and its my daily driver. I've never had any issues with the truck other than sensors and wheel bearings, I think I've only ever sank like $2k in repairs on it ever. I've been thinking about what to do when the motor/ trans does go out, whether to rebuild the 5.3 and 4l80e or to swap for a 6.0 with a 6l80e. Either way I want to build the engine a bit, my goal is to get a reliable powerful daily for towing and doing truck stuff while getting decent fuel economy on the highway. It sounds like your truck gets the highway mileage I wish mine got, but do you or have you towed on the highway with it? Would a cam be a good investment, should I port the heads if I do, and would that make up for low end power loss? Or should I do something else like a supercharger?
Dylan Downard your cam of choice can prevent the loss of low end torque. Texas Speed & Performance has a “Low Lift” truck cam that has mild specs to make sure that low end is not lost. The mid and high rpm range were improved greatly. Kit comes with all you need to put it together too. Stock stall is fine too as the cam isn’t too aggressive, but it will lope quite a bit if you go for a 111 lsa. I personally got the 114 because the idle quality will be a bit better while still having some good chop to it. As for ported heads, talk to your local machinist and see what they say. You will gain more, but it might not be worth the added cost. Really just depends on your end goal.
I have a 4l60 torque converter...i installed a 4l80
Running a built 09 5.3l with zero issues at all but horrible gas mileage but I run a fully built trans and 3200 triple disc stall but no loading up or surging
+woodyskel12 yeah I really need a stall, the truck has not balls in the low end and I'm pretty tired of it
You could probably fix that with short tube headers. Long tubes are for the high RPMs and shorts help low power alot
Pardon my ignorance, but what's a stall?
When you get a cam sometimes depending on how big the cam is the truck will try to either die in park instead of idle or if your at a red light and just have it in drive with your foot on the brake your truck still tries to lunge forward causing you to put it in neutral at a light. So a stall just takes away that jerking motion.
allright! thanks
That stepside squarebody tho. @3:14
+James Salter unfortunately I haven't seen that thing running for a while now..
I feel the reason it gets bad gas mileage is it makes you hammer down alot more. Has anybody done a real test of normal driving stock and normal driving cammed? Just curious
Im not cammed, and I get 14 on the highway goin 70 with no headwind
And 9 in the city
Just a 2012 4x4 crew cab leveled on 33’s
My buddy has a 6.0 2500 that he got cammed and can not find an exhaust configuration that sounds good and is not annoyingly loud. Current setup is true dual 3" borla with axle dump. Idle sounds better but sounds like a fart when he gets on it.
+Dustin Walden yeah mine gets poppy in the mid rpm range, I don't think it sounds that good to be honest. I want to switch to magnaflows to hopefully give it a deeper tone.
awesome keep it up subscribed
