His connections to ancient Egyptian culture are super awesome. Also he probably knows what happened to the Ex Dendro Archon. It's very likely that the scholars themselves conducted research on what happened to their former archon as well.
@@BitSharkGames it's not like that imo,you literally mentioned his connection in the video, since you say he's not the teacher, the older ones seem to have chosen to send him specifically because of his experience in that field, the field of archon residue, which is the effect of DEAD DIETIES/Gods 😅 so generally it doesn't *need* to connect to dendro archon, because he's already connected to death just like Anubis is connected to death, but through archon residue knowledge
Fun fact: Anubis(He) was credited with inventing the mummification process, enabling mortals to live on in the afterlife So like in the manga, cyno is like mummifying the archon's energy P.s if you think is anubis bad? NO it's actually the opposite
The fact that Cyno is praying to an almighty god over his head instead of the archons is interesting especially since he is sealing archon residue. Cyno seems to be praying to celestia most likely Phanes which would make sense because celestia is above him and Phanes seems to be almighty. My interpretation is he is using magic from the celestial gods to seal archon power making it the opposite of what Dain and the abyss use which might explain why they are opposite in color.
I also wonder if the Dendro Archon is interfering with the studies at the Academia. Based on Enkanomiya, knowing too much information can be a problem so maybe the Dendro Archon actively hides information from the people.
**Something I forgot to include** Cyno originates from the word Cynocephaly which means “dog headed” or “jackal headed”. In some ancient cultures this was associated with divinity resulting in gods like Anubis. However, in later periods like during the medieval times, it was most often associated with evil. Some people even believe that dog-headed humans existed in the past. There are even documents outlining debates regarding whether or not dog-headed people were humans. However, most historians agree that all of this was just simply due to people misidentifying baboons as humans. I find it really cool how Mihoyo used this word to name and design Cyno! Hope you guys enjoy this video and sorry for forgetting to include this in the video xD
Are you sure about that? Is it confirmed somewhere? Because cyno just means dog. It's from the Greek kunicos, from which came the Latin cynicus (the direct source of cyno- as an etymological stem, which we also see, for example, in "Cynic," a man who lives like a dog), from which came the later Lating canus, and eventually the English canine.
Great question! So you're right that Cyno just means dog. However, the word Cynocephaly has origins in the greek word for dog (κύων -kyno) and head (κεφαλή -Kephale). These two words would be combined to refer to dog-headed entities most notably, Anubis. In ancient Greece, there were also some reports of human-canine hybrids which they would refer to as κῠνοκέφᾰλοι or dog-headed. Later on, with the Romans, these greek words would be taken in and would result in the words Cynocephalus or Cynocephali (plural). Reports of Cynocephaly would continue throughout the Middle Ages; however, as I stated in my prior comments these were largely due to misinformation/misidentification. Circling back to Cyno and his naming convention. The word Cynocephaly was most often seen as a human with a head of a dog. The fact that Cyno wears a jackal like headpiece but is human seems to tie back to this word. Could he be named directly after the greek and latin word for dog? Absolutely! But I would argue that Cynocephaly might be a better fit in this case. Obviously, none of this is officially confirmed by Mihoyo but something that I came across during my research. There are quite a bit of scholarly articles and books documenting this phenomenom. Definitely something worth checking out!
@@BitSharkGames okay just wondering whether there was a concrete reason to assume there was an omitted "cepha" stem The greek cepha has an interesting etymology too btw and goes back to hiw anglophones pronounce a lot of hard c's (like in cynic (the proper pronunciation, which is like koo-neek) or container) as softc's or s's (like how we say sin-ick), and greek ph (aspirated p, or p with an underlying throat hiss or breath sound) as f. Cepha would be pronounced like kep-hah, from the same root (proto indo european ghebh or kheph) as words in Latin and Hindi meaning "head," eg caput, from whence comes the English "cap" meaning a hat or the top of something, and "captain," the "head" of a regiment of some kind. I love linguistics and etymology. In full, an ancient-greek-faithful pronunciation of cynocephaly would be like koo-no-kep-ha-lee, which I think sounds a lot nicer to the ear too (and sounds somewhat hindi- no mistake, as hindi has probably remained the closest of any living language to proto indo european, while ancient greek and latin were also very close to that ancestral language)
I love the aesthetic of Sumeru so far, there’s probably gonna be a lot of really cool characters, and the story itself seems to have so much potential I’m so excited
You guys probably didnt notice it but when they revealed cyno after the sand, his eyes spark some subtle flames you can watch the clip again. This convince me that he is pyro after watch the trailer a few more times.
@@drippyHooH I think we can even see a pyro outline in that red gem. I wouldn't be surprised if he is pyro. Mihoyo really favors the pyro and cryo element, notice how there's at least a 5* dps from those elements in every region. Klee and Eula from Monstadt, Hu Tao and Ganyu from Liyue, Yoimiya and Ayaka from Inazuma. So I think Cyno is going to be Sumeru's pyro dps.
If we assume both Collei and Cyno become playable I am calling it - Cyno will be a 5-star with Collei on his banner as a 4-star, with a kit that synergizes well together with him.
yea i mean gorou sara for dendro sounds good, but theres the issue, she doesnt have a vision so we cant even confirm shes dendro, however this point could be where we get magic abilites for a character instead of a vision
Whoah that was lot of research. About Sumeru npcs that's so right. Until now every Sumeru npc we came in contact with, they are all mostly from Sumeru academia and everyone of them are insanely obsessed with research. Like they would get depressed and anxious if they can't figure out something or if they loose any research related material (Ex - Hosseini, Anisa from solitary sea beast quest) I wonder if the normal citizens are also knowledge hungry too.. its kinda scary. Cyno became so interesting when I read the manga it would be so nice if he was a catalyst user since he knows magic, rituals, exorcism etc :P
It sounds like they're so obsessed with research they go mad. Lisa even talks about it in her character story where she decides to leave Sumeru cause of this. Cyno is super awesome and I love that he was in the manga! If he is a catalyst user that would be cool too. Going along with the exorcisms, imagine if his ult mummified enemies xD
looking at visions based on personality, i hope cyno is a geo polearm too since most geo vision users are very diligent-he kinda reminds me of Albedo in the way that hes so dedicated to his research. i can kinda see electro too but thats just the vibes i get from him, no reason xD
He also kind of reminds me of Albedo which might be why I like him so much. I can totally see them exchanging their notes and research with each other haha Geo polearm with sand abilities would be so dope! Electro is cool too since it goes with the bluish colors on his outfit
Good ol' diligent Itto. The only common trait to all geos is altruism, which is possessed by surprisingly few non-geo characters (exactly 0, actually; if you look at their characters, they are all selfish, and might enjoy helping others, but not if it involves any serious self-sacrifice; the closest would be Beidou and even she does it so that people will owe her favours, because she thinks that network of debts is what civilization is built on). Even Itto doesn't hesitate to make great personal sacrifices to help someone he just met; Albedo may not be shown helping people much, but we know that he does, and we also know that he would prefer if the Traveler killed him to protect Mondstadt if he ever goes berserk like Durin did, showing he would be willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to protect others (I think the other geos are all obvious). Anemos have experienced loss, pursue freedom and have addictions. Pyros have unconventional ideas about how to improve society, which seems to fit him the best of the three (those are the three elements shown during his screen on the Travails teaser, so he is most likely one of the three). He also has a flame flash from his eye in Travails, and while the sand and wind shown could be environmental, I can only imagine he was the source of the flame. He appears to have a pyro vision on his belt, but it may not be a vision since it has a small circle in it instead of a pyro symbol (in fact, it could even be a delusion; Diluc's delusion looked very similar, with regards to simply having a circle symbol inside, but I suspect it's just how his belt buckle looks, since it's also pretty big (granted Noelle's vision is pretty big, too)). He is most likely a pyro vision. Of course, it's possible we'll get a Tartaglia bamboozle and that he got a pyro delusion from somewhere, but only uses an anemo vision when he's playable or something (he COULD fit Anemo, but I honestly don't think he's geo based on his unaltruistic behaviour in the manga).
@@exuveum5875 It's objectively better than electro. Like Electro, it's been getting really powerful characters to compensate for their bad reactions, and unlike electro, its resonance got drastically buffed. Starting all the way back in 1.2 with Albedo (granted just his C6) individual geo characters have had functionality that adds onto crystallise to make it more useful, as well.
I know this is a late comment, but a there are a few things I want to point out. 1. Cyno is in fact an electro user. Just because he's associated with Anubis does not automatically mean that he's a Geo user. 2. Cyno's connection to Anubis goes deeper than his design. He works for the Academia as the General Mahamatra. His role is to ensure that researchers aren't breaking any rules. If they do, Cyno is in charge of punishing rule breakers. Anubis is also a judge of the dead. He weighs the deceased's heart on a scale against Ma'at's feather. If the heart is lighter than the feather, then they will be escorted to the Afterlife. However, the the heart is heavier than the feather, a monster eats the heart and they cease to exist. 3. Collei does not want to be anywhere near Cyno because he reminds her of the sealing ritual. Cyno does visit her, but he keeps his distance. Furthermore, Collei is a Forest Ranger Trainee with Tighnari. She is not Cyno's assistant.
Personally, I think geo is the most likely. Anemo represents freedom, and I simply can’t see that in Cyno. From what we have seen, Sumero is heavily wisdom needed, and you’d probably need to be quite smart and wise to get any recognition. That might cause stress and such upon the people, so you’d feel more “I need to study” then “I want to study”. Geo represents contract and loyalty I believe, and since we haven’t seen much about Cyno, it seems most likely. Pyro could work too, as I believe pyro represents war and passion. He seems to have quite the passion for books. Looking at his animation tho, I think it looks most like Ninguangs, so I will go with geo. But, I mean, I’m not complaining if he’s anemo👀 Also, sorry for my English, it isn’t my first language.
@@BitSharkGames I think the trailer pretty much confirms him being a pyro vision-bearer since you can see a pyro outline in that red gem. Mihoyo loves their Pyro and Cryo characters and in every region there's at least a 5* dps that is pyro and cryo. Klee and Eula, Hu Tao and Ganyu, Yoimiya and Ayaka. I think Cyno will be Sumeru's pyro dps.
For Collei, I think that we'll witness her recieving her own vision. I would really be glad to see that kind of scene because I'm curious about how they'll get their vision.
I think cyno’s gonna be either geo, anemo, or pyro. This is my lazy reasoning for each possibility: Geo- As said, it thematically fits with the ancient egypt motif. The “sand” in the trailer and all, but also the idea of contracts in a researching scholar. He seems bound [by a contract] to knowledge and the never ending quest for it. Also as genshin has been adding more geo units it may seem that it’s becoming one of the more mainstream elements. Anemo- The trailer sandstorm. The freedom in being able to research and learn about ancient history- taking into account the secrecy and history it has with celestia. He was the one sent by the academia, so it may imply that he isn’t chained there due to he’s scholar nature, but has a different mentality and uses his freedom to expand his knowledge. Pyro- the flames in his eyes + the “vision”. Also the war against the limits of knowledge. Idk, tbh. I’m lazy to explain this point XD
All three appear during his scene on the Travails teaser too. All other characters except the Fontaine ones have a single element show up during their scenes (Diluc appears from criss-crossing flames, Ningguang throws some rocks, Ayaka scatters frost, Iansan has an explosion of flames, Pulcinella is surrounded by pillars of ice, Dainsleif scatters a handful of stardust). The Fontaine catboy and catgirl (I forget their names, something terrible like Lynie and Lyman because they're feLYNs or something I think) have NO elements shown, but Cyno has a flame flash around his eye, and is then surrounded by wind blowing sand around his feet. He's mean to Amber, and geo characters are literally not mean ever. It's why it's so weird when the impostor Albedo shows up. Even Itto and Gorou treat their (very different kinds of) animosity toward Sara less as a source of anger or hatred and more as a form of competition (in Itto's case) or an honourable conflict (in Gorou's case), each showing her respect in their own way (even though she definitely does not respect them, especially Itto). Geos are also altruistic (and other elements are not), and we don't really see altruism in what we know of Cyno (not that that means he can't be altruistic; Ningguang for example did not appear altruistic until she sacrificed the Jade Chamber, and you would think Itto was just a goofball if not for his quest). I think geo is unlikely. Anemo is a distinct possibility personality-wise. It would be an easy copout to say he's addicted to knowledge (though that seems like a generic Sumeru trait, right?) and he easily could have lost somebody that we don't know about (those are both anemo traits, addiction and loss; every single anemo character has lost somebody important to them, and all but kazuha have an addiction apiece, with kazuha only being an exception because an addiction would contradict his version of freedom). Pyro seems the most likely to me. His very first act that we see is to tell Amber that the flask she's holding will turn her into a pig if she doesn't put it down, which is presumably hyperbole (surely she'd at least have to drink it or spill it on herself). That kind of means-to-an-end behaviour is very indicative of pyro characters in general. Other characters may be very direct or unconventional, but pyros are always goal-oriented where most other characters are not, and their means or goals are usually not socially acceptable, or at the very least make other people uncomfortable. Consider that even the most benign pyros, like Amber, Klee, Xiangling and Xinyan, break Mondstadt's laws in pursuit of freedom, start forest fires and cause all kinds of other explosion-related problems, cook with ingredients that disgust people and play loud music that unsettles most of her countrymen, respectively. Also, of course, the other elements as they show up in the trailer might not come from Cyno himself, but the fire definitely does.
@@Mentleif Xiao's addiction is to dreams. He didn't want to eat them in the first place but now that he has stopped, the texture of almond tofu puts him at ease because it reminds him of the texture of a dream, indicating he grew dependent on it (the tofu is a bit like a nicotine patch). Also, he is seemingly addicted to pain (or more accurately, punishment, which presumably burns some of his karmic debt). Pyros don't necessarily break the law, they just break norms while seeking social change, but either way you're completely wrong about Yanfei. She learns the law so she can "interpret" it, exploiting loopholes, ambiguous wording amd how conflicting laws might apply to complex situations to get her desired outcome. Or, to quote her bio: 'As for the copy of "The General Law of Liyue" that she carries around on her person, Yanfei has this to say: "If you don't wish to be bound by the rules, you have to first understand them all."' Also, her dream for society (something all pyros have, even if it's as simple as Diluc wanting to bypass diplomacy to drive out the Fatui) is of a day when there is no law, because people have become fundamentally good, rendering the law unnecessary. Xinyan has inspired her, so when that day comes Yanfei intends to become a rap musician.
In Egypt as I grew up I was told Anubis was also very skilled at magic and being a god of the under world/dead and as he guided the mortals to the after life he would measure both the heart and a feather if the heart isn’t heavier than the feather then the person has done more good deeds in their life despite that Anubis didn’t have the best reputation as everyone feared him I wonder if that will ever apply to cyno’s lore either way I am definitely saving for him I don’t mind saving for so long
The thing I found interesting is the existence of magic in the Genshin lore. It's also mentioned in the recent Archon (?) Quest involving Shenhe. Would be pretty awesome if Mihoyo adds a character that uses magic instead of Vision.
Same! I'm hoping we'll learn more about magic within Teyvat. Just my own prediction, Sumeru sounds like a place where people practice magic pretty openly so maybe we'll meet characters there that use magic instead of visions.
I hope we get another character like mona that studies astrology but instead of using hydro or another element to make mirrors to view the stars like mona, they use magic to manipulate someone's constellations
haha that was my favorite part too! Seeing him use those spells and abilities was so exciting. Also his outfit thing looks super cool and comfy so I just gravitated toward him haha
Cyno is the character I'm most hype for, since Anubis related characters have always pick up my interest, and the trailer shows him with a polearm which is one of the two weapons i enjoy the most playing on any video game, the other one is bows. If he turns out to be either geo, anemo, dendro or electro, It will stil be benefilial for me, since I have loved geo so far, anemo characters abilities have all been very cool, dendro is a new element to start collecting, and so far I haven't like most of the electro charactes in the game, so I have only level up Lisa and Sara, wich are the most interesting to me, as such I'm in need of more electro characters, which is why I'm also interested in Shikanoin Heizou.
hehahaha plot twist he uses the dust element in all seriousness, i am a firm believer that he'll be geo....i believe, I BELIEVE but imagine mihoyo flips all of us off and he doesn't use a vision, but magic?? that would be so cool!! :0
@@BitSharkGames oh my god we're on the same wavelength........if only kazuha came home 😔 but i also believe he would be geo! reason as to why because in my eyes, he seems like a very hardworking individual and considering the amount of knowledge he has and with sealing the archon thing (i legit don't know how to spell that word lmao) he's worked really hard to be where he is now. idk bro all geo users are hardworking individuals and i hope you get the gist of what i'm trying to say since as you can see i can barely put my thoughts into words lol but uh mihoyo if you decide to make him anemo we ain't complaining honestly 👁️👁️ i wish you the best of luck on pulling you're favourite characters! stay safe and remember to take time ^^ -pray for me to win my 50/50 on kazu's banner :')-
@@non-existent.. sending you good vibes and the best luck so Kazuha comes home yeah i agree! He seems somewhat similar to Albedo which made me lean towards Geo. But honestly I'm okay with any element cause his design is so dope!
Cyno has an amzing character design! That and the way he acts in the manga made me decide to already start saving up for him now. I will be waiting for a loooong time but it will be worth it! XD
I have been saving up primos for Cyno for awhile. He's my most wanted character and I really want to know more about him (my fav character is razor and he looks like his big brother lol) Personally hoping he has a pyro vision but with blue/purple flames connecting the dots with Anubis and death
I'm so excited to see how mihoyo combines the Egyptian and Hindu pantheon, they've nailed the clothes of the NPCs already present in game, which look like they're right out of the golden age of india.
I haven't been able to make it more than a minute into any lore videos I've tried watching so far, even when the topic is interesting to me, but I watched this whole thing without considering leaving. great job on the video!
I think when Cyno did the ritual, he used the Eyes of Horus, that is a symbol of protection, health and restoration in the Egyptian mythology Considering his power it's an important detail
Bro got the whole cyno story 7 months before Sumeru was revealed. Are you gonna make a new cyno lore explanation in the future since he's coming out in 3.1?
i think it's also worth mentioning that all of the archon's names come from the names of demons of ars goetia (or the lesser key of solomon). it's interesting to see that the sealing ritual shown in manga is also connected to them as the lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram was meant to purify and free people from those demon's influences.
Regarding Cyno's vision: after the inazuma archon quest it is now known that there can be characters with two visions. Maybe kazuha could use it for a small amount of time because he is new to the entire concept of using two visions. If visions are attached to ambitions, then it is plausible for one to not have just one ambition. I do speculate that Cyno manipulates SAND as a combination of Anemo and Geo. That indeed is a really cool idea, because he he could both swirl and cristalize
17:34 _Nooo not the mobs drops falling off the cliff!_ Amazing video btw, even as a manga reader I learnt a lot of new things! Can't wait to potentially see Collei in-game.
I had my own theory about this But it would be soo cool if for instance his burst or e skill would have like a quicksand , pulling inside enemies and stopping them from moving :)) Can't wait to see his kit and hopefully he's a 5 star
The simbols/runes that are used by Cyno in the ritual are not just Khaenri'ah symbols. They are used in other places, like Wagner's sign thing in Mondstadt... They are also used on the Murals in Tsurumi, but the text on them is actually in Latin, which is interesting.
Wanted to comment the same thing basically. It's s obviously a script used by civilizations older then Khaeneri'ah, we can see it used by Sal Vindagnyr people and even older ones of Tsurumi however they were called. I presume it's worldwide use was due to it being the writing of that oldest global Teyvat civilization that Enkonomiya is referencing, and when it perished the next generations and newer civilizations adapted it, Khaeneri'ah's one of those latter ones.
I don’t even play this game and your video held my attention for all 20 minutes… and WANTING MORE 🤣. Loved the video Bitty!! You put so much work into your videos and it truly shows. I’m so proud. CONGRATS ON THE 1k+ followers!!! 🥳🥳🥳
i know im a bit late but i think cyno is gonna have a pyro vision because the first character we see of each region were always pyro: amber xiangling and Thoma. and in the animation you can see something that looks like a vision on his hip with a red-ish color but that's what i think
Im glad for all the info and knowing more about them but the amount of theories in these comments is something my brain can't comprehend 💀it's too much
What if magic in Sumeru is more involved with ancient gods rather than Visions? Like, are ALL gods connected to Celestia, or does their power rely more Teyvat itself or the ppl a god rules over? If they rely more on ppl, then it would make sense why knowledge is considered a currency in Sumeru, bc imagine it like there were several gods being worshipped and each had a secret society/cult that practiced magic given to them by that god ONLY. It would make sense why Lisa disagreed with the Academy, bc in order to gain more and more knowledge, they would be making some pretty serious sacrifices to satisfy a god’s growing demands. (P.S. I also think Sumeru would be great to see the side of Teyvat BEYOND Celestia and the Archons- maybe we can learn more about what the world was like before the War.)
It does seem like the case that there are multiple gods within Sumeru. Also it sounds like there maybe power struggles between the different sages at the academia so your theory is definitely plausible! I'm super excited for Sumeru because I feel like we are getting to the point where the story will really start to pick up :D
actually cyno and xiao were the two characters that led me to try and fall in love with Genshin, I already got Xiao, I hope to get Cyno when sumeru comes :)
I still think Cyno might be pyro bc 1)that gem 2) when they show his eyes there's a little flame-like animation 3)fire archon based on her name miiiiiight be associated with the dead & resurrection + we have Hu Tao who is closely connected with the realm of those who perished and she's pyro as well I also believe in "the old dendro archon is not dead" theory bc of... many reasons including the fact that even if dendro archon didn't intentionally fake his death Anubis is known to be the patron god of embalmers - he invented mummification the core purpose of which is to preserve the body for a new life and he did resurrect Osiris Though I should mention another possibility too. It's widely known that the color black in his appearance holds symbolic value and represents the color of decay as well as the color of the soil and soil = geo so there's an argument for him being geo. That and "the god of the underworld" thing. Him presiding over the dead and guarding tombs might be hinting at the link between him and the geo element.
That's a good point! The Osiris connection with the former dendro archon is really interesting and something that would be really cool if it does end up getting played out. Imagine us running into the entire Egyptian pantheon while in Sumeru! That would be soooo awesome :D
15:39 if they are released at the same time and if collei becomes cynos assistant I think collei would be a new 4 star character and cyno would be the 5 star in the banner
As a Christian (spasificly, a Roman catholic Christian), theres some things I must correct you on (bare with me, this isn't a spam thing). Yahweh is not the same as Jehovah, people back then thought yahweh isn't should be pronounced or a good name, so they think it should be jehovah (and so on) but then came back to yahweh as since jehovah is insulting (those who escaped from jehovah witnesses should be relieved that jehovah witness is not the true Christianity, yw) Lastly, Christianity was Jewish, until God gave his only son too sacrifice for us. Jesus built his church with the 12 apostles too pass along his words, and asked saint peter to lead his church 10:45 also note that we call the lord our father, since he's our creator (no matter if someone is pegan, or atheist, their still a child of God)
Ok so he doesn’t have a vision that we have seen yet. What is everyone’s speculation on his vision? If he has one.. guesses on elemental type?? I have been most excited for cyno out of any other Genshin characters sense the launch of the game and seeing the teyvat story trailer. I love the Egyptian style and his design. I really hope there are more characters like him to come in Sumeru.
So far Pyro, Geo and Anemo seem to be the most likely. Some people believe it could be Dendro and Electro but these options seem to be a bit less likely. I'm hoping for more Egyptian themed characters as well!
BitShark I honestly hope for anemo better that’s my favorite element haha. But I really want a Anemo male catalyst user more then anything. (But I’d settle for any male catalyst user) I hope cyno skills are all about sand. So geo would be good.
All characters that were introduced in the trailer so far played a huge role in the archon quest from their respective nations, Cyno and the others will be no different. So.. I can't say he's more likely not pyro, just because there's already two pyro characters in the trailer. They weren't just randomly placed in the trailer. Then when I look at his clothing design, honestly there are very few places for him to place his vision, and that belt of his would be the perfect spot, but I could be wrong. As for the animation of a cloud of sand going with Cyno, remember that's where they're talking about Sumeru, the nation that will have deserts, lots of sand. So I don't think the animation has anything to do with what vision Cyno has. I get why you got that conclusion of yours after seeing the first three with Diluc, Ningguang and Ayaka, but starting at Sumeru you'll notice that instead of the characters flexing their skill and ult, the animations are showing a local specialty (idk what else to call it) from the nation they're talking about. Sumeru's well known because of their desert, so they showed sand animations. Fontaine has some show business specialty idk. Natlan's well known for their hot weather and volcanos, so we see volcanic animations. Shneznaya is a very cold place, and is the homeland of the Fatui, hence the animations of ice, fatui and tsaritsa. Now that I think about it, both Monstadt and Liyue were the first two released nations, and since the beginning everyone knew about the first Monstadt characters, Liyue characters and Ayaka, so it's not necessary to hide their vision element, but no one knows about Cyno, those two kids and the chibi.
Lol this video kinda want me to change my mind on pulling for few upcoming characters and save for Sumeru XD Even tho polearm isn't my type but his vibe is attracting me towards him..
I come here after knowing that Sumeru would be released soon yuhuu. I am waiting for Cyno since the first time I saw him in the trailer. I wonder what is his connection with Tighnari. Because it seems like Collei is working with Tighnari, and Tighnari design looks like Anubis too, but with a tail. Maybe, Tighnari - Collei - Cyno. We will meet them in the archon quest of Sumeru.
from the information on this video alone, I could tell that Collei and Cyno would most likely have a dendro vision (geo would also be possible for cyno, I'm not too sure abt hydro)
since the visions have a pattern to the user's ambition and the gods/archon of the element, uh you get the idea. for example anemo, God of freedom: Sayu(wishes to sleep? idk), Jean(freedom for the people of mondstadt) Geo, God of contracts(or in some cases, hardworking): Noelle(hardworking to pass entrance exam), Ningguang(her past) Electro, God of Eternity: Fischl(her parents support her for eternity) okay I have never done the research for electro lol maybe Sara and serving shogun for eternity?? Pyro, God of war: obviously most characters wants chaos of some sort Hydro, God of justice: Xinqiu(this is obvious), Kokomi(justice/victory for watatsumi maybe) Cryo, God of Love: Diona(stopping the wine industry so her father can keep her company) again, I didn't pay much attention to the cryo chars Dendro, God of Wisdom: the vision holders may have the ambition to learn okay, this is dumb, there's an article that explained this way better than how I did, that could explain more than my shitty knowledge :^
Okay I agree with you, but in Genshin you can't estimate a person's age based on their physical appearance *cough* Xiao *cough* It looks like those ears are real on Cyno's head, which would mean he's not human, so he wouldn't age the same way as humans. That is of course just a theory.
i assumed cyno would be our new dendro 5 star w/ the release of sumeru since it would be kinda boring if he was anything else imo, although i really love his design
Yeah it sucks that we have 0 dendro characters at the moment. And Mihoyo is going to have to do a lot of catching up with Dendro since we have so many characters of the other elements.
@@BitSharkGames definitely! great video btw, i just started playing 2 months ago and you made me realize just how deep genshin lore goes 😭 i would’ve never expected anything like this from a gacha game
I think Cyno might be anything other than pyro. Pyro users seem to be enthusiastic and more extroverted (Diluc used to be before) but Cyno doesn't give me extrovert vibes. That is also gonna be his splash art so if you compare his splash art to other pyro characters, he is the odd-one-out.
Sumeru should be very interesting considering the lesser keys of solomon (the basis of much of the lore of genshin) is ultimately based on jewish mythology, sumeru being based on somewhere in the middle east will hopefully give us more info about the deeper lore of the game.
I think more pyro thinking the background is smoke instead of sand. Sand does make sense though so pyro, geo and anemo make the most sense but probably mostly pyro andthen geo.
@@BitSharkGames I also feel like he is hiding something under his right eye, we never got to see his right in manga and even in teyvat storyline trailer, that's kinda sus
The Sumeru academia is the place where all the scholars and sages f Sumeru gather together to do research and learn more about the world. Hope that helps :D
Cyno’s lore connecting to Anubis is so interesting. I hope he has something to do with the Ex Dendro Archon
Fun fact: Anubis(He) was credited with inventing the mummification process, enabling mortals to live on in the afterlife
So like in the manga, cyno is like mummifying the archon's energy
P.s if you think is anubis bad? NO it's actually the opposite
The fact that Cyno is praying to an almighty god over his head instead of the archons is interesting especially since he is sealing archon residue. Cyno seems to be praying to celestia most likely Phanes which would make sense because celestia is above him and Phanes seems to be almighty. My interpretation is he is using magic from the celestial gods to seal archon power making it the opposite of what Dain and the abyss use which might explain why they are opposite in color.
Yeah it's definitely not clear who or where this magic comes from. If it is from Phanes that makes things more interesting!
He also might be praying the real God and not those who name themselves as such.
This might be what dainseif-
Seeing Cyno seal and archon's residue using runes from khaenri'ah, makes a lot of sense why the gods see them as a possible threat.
I also wonder if the Dendro Archon is interfering with the studies at the Academia. Based on Enkanomiya, knowing too much information can be a problem so maybe the Dendro Archon actively hides information from the people.
**Something I forgot to include**
Cyno originates from the word Cynocephaly which means “dog headed” or “jackal headed”.
@@BitSharkGames okay just wondering whether there was a concrete reason to assume there was an omitted "cepha" stem
The greek cepha has an interesting etymology too btw and goes back to hiw anglophones pronounce a lot of hard c's (like in cynic (the proper pronunciation, which is like koo-neek) or container) as softc's or s's (like how we say sin-ick), and greek ph (aspirated p, or p with an underlying throat hiss or breath sound) as f.
Hope He dosnt get a Support or sub dps that i can see his Design Most of the time in the screen
Soo long lost brother of razor
I love the aesthetic of Sumeru so far, there’s probably gonna be a lot of really cool characters, and the story itself seems to have so much potential I’m so excited
Definitely! I've super hyped for it. I'm just hoping we'll get at least a few crumbs before its release haha
And harder puzzle
You guys probably didnt notice it but when they revealed cyno after the sand, his eyes spark some subtle flames you can watch the clip again. This convince me that he is pyro after watch the trailer a few more times.
I see the flares you're talking about. He could very well still be pyro as well :D
well thats because his eyes are red
That doesn't make him pyro
@@drippyHooH its literal flames tho
He's Pyro polearm lol. Once he's released its rip hutao
If we assume both Collei and Cyno become playable
I am calling it - Cyno will be a 5-star with Collei on his banner as a 4-star, with a kit that synergizes well together with him.
I would be 100% down for this!!!! :D
I don't think collei will be playable since she doesn't have a vision
unless we were able to use her delusion or she gets a vision
@@ahuman5105 unless we can have a quest that would give her vision, then voila, a new playable character
yea i mean gorou sara for dendro sounds good, but theres the issue, she doesnt have a vision so we cant even confirm shes dendro, however this point could be where we get magic abilites for a character instead of a vision
STOPPP! I WANT THIS TO HAPPEN, AND IT PROBABLY WONT 😭
This man was spot on on the release date of Cyno and Collei
Since we've already seen visions taken away, i feel like with Collei we might see someone receive a vision, which could be hers.
It's definitely a possibility and something that would be really cool to see!
well it wasn’t collei but we did see rana get a vision 💪
I can totally see them exchanging their notes and research with each other haha
Geo polearm with sand abilities would be so dope! Electro is cool too since it goes with the bluish colors on his outfit
Albedo but college Razor
Idk man i hope he isn't geo cause it just isn't a very good element to be honest
20 MINS OF CYNO CONTENT thank you so much omg. i've been saving for him for ages, i have 260 pulls saved up
The king deserved 20 min 😂 omggg i need to start saving up for him too
He's Electro according to leakers.
And he turns into anubis
But, I mean, I’m not complaining if he’s anemo👀
Also, sorry for my English, it isn’t my first language.
No worries! His element is pretty ambiguous but it seems geo, pyro and anemo are the most common predictions
I've heard people say that it might be Electro. Mostly because of the design.
@@res6148 I've heard that as well. I think it has to do with the color of his outfit. Hopefully the electro/dendro reaction will be good!
For Collei, I think that we'll witness her recieving her own vision. I would really be glad to see that kind of scene because I'm curious about how they'll get their vision.
I hoping she gets a vision! If not she might be able to use magic like Cyno
we got rana instead
I guess at least Scara had his own vision scene lmao
I think cyno’s gonna be either geo, anemo, or pyro. This is my lazy reasoning for each possibility:
Geo- As said, it thematically fits with the ancient egypt motif.
I love this so much! I totally agree with everything you said here. Hopefully he comes out soon so we don't have to keep waiting and guessing xD
What’s Xiao’s addiction? And Yanfei definitely is an exception being an entity of the law rather than one who breaks it
@@Mentleif Xiao's addiction is to dreams.
Or, to quote her bio:
'As for the copy of "The General Law of Liyue" that she carries around on her person, Yanfei has this to say:
"If you don't wish to be bound by the rules, you have to first understand them all."'
Also, her dream for society (something all pyros have, even if it's as simple as Diluc wanting to bypass diplomacy to drive out the Fatui) is of a day when there is no law, because people have become fundamentally good, rendering the law unnecessary. Xinyan has inspired her, so when that day comes Yanfei intends to become a rap musician.
In Egypt as I grew up I was told Anubis was also very skilled at magic and being a god of the under world/dead and as he guided the mortals to the after life he would measure both the heart and a feather if the heart isn’t heavier than the feather then the person has done more good deeds in their life despite that Anubis didn’t have the best reputation as everyone feared him I wonder if that will ever apply to cyno’s lore either way I am definitely saving for him I don’t mind saving for so long
Thoth I think would also help Anubis judge the souls and I'm really hoping a character design like thoth is there too xD
He’s literally the character I want to pull the most in Sumeru then I’m saving my gems for the twin puppets and then pryo archon.
Same I really want to get Cyno on my team. And hopefully a few constellations as well :D
Just my own prediction, Sumeru sounds like a place where people practice magic pretty openly so maybe we'll meet characters there that use magic instead of visions.
we already knew about magic as early as 1.0 version in the mondstat archon quest lisa has "detection magic"
@@tripedal2063 too early that im still learning the game so i didnt pay attention lol

I read the webcomic before playing genshin and Cyno was my favorite cause of their mysterious abilities relating to archons and his cool spells
haha that was my favorite part too!
I'm super hype for Cyno too! I think no matter what element he is. He will be a lot of fun to play.
One of the best videos about genshin lore, I really liked the pace and the writing style! It's really in-depth and well explained, congrats!
hehahaha plot twist he uses the dust element
in all seriousness, i am a firm believer that he'll be geo....i believe, I BELIEVE
but imagine mihoyo flips all of us off and he doesn't use a vision, but magic?? that would be so cool!! :0

I prefer Geo but like you said I'll take Anemo anyday :D I'd love to pair him with Kazuha
@@BitSharkGames oh my god we're on the same wavelength........if only kazuha came home 😔
but i also believe he would be geo! reason as to why because in my eyes, he seems like a very hardworking individual and considering the amount of knowledge he has and with sealing the archon thing (i legit don't know how to spell that word lmao) he's worked really hard to be where he is now. idk bro all geo users are hardworking individuals and i hope you get the gist of what i'm trying to say since as you can see i can barely put my thoughts into words lol

Thank you so much! You have no idea how much that means to me ☺

those energy recharge rolls on the artifacts came in clutch xD
I think when Cyno did the ritual, he used the Eyes of Horus, that is a symbol of protection, health and restoration in the Egyptian mythology
Considering his power it's an important detail
What do you think?
Welcome back!
Thank you! Can't wait to make more vids :D
from the future:
he has electro vision
thank me later
people watching in 2022 and already know his vision
Bro got the whole cyno story 7 months before Sumeru was revealed. Are you gonna make a new cyno lore explanation in the future since he's coming out in 3.1?
coming back to this now, collei art has been released with no sight of cyno. rumors have been made of him being electro tho.
i think it's also worth mentioning that all of the archon's names come from the names of demons of ars goetia (or the lesser key of solomon). it's interesting to see that the sealing ritual shown in manga is also connected to them as the lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram was meant to purify and free people from those demon's influences.
That's a really good point! I love how the ritual ties back in with the Ars Goetia and the Archons!
Thank you so much for this video! It was very informative and made me even more excited for him :)
ahhh thank you! super excited for his release as well :D
Oh that's a cool idea! It would be awesome if that is the case
17:34 _Nooo not the mobs drops falling off the cliff!_
Amazing video btw, even as a manga reader I learnt a lot of new things! Can't wait to potentially see Collei in-game.
Mobs falling off the cliff is the worst thing ever! It's even worse when the items fall off . Lost so many specter drops to the pit :(
it’s funny thinking about how albedo and cyno might both have green haired assistants
OMG LOL I just realized that xD We need more region cross overs I'd love to see Albedo and Sucrose in a competition against Cyno and Collei haha
At 4:35 one of the sentences formed from the ancient languange looked like it said smth like "about my stars" for some reason
I noticed that too! I thought it was until I looked up the alphabet to decipher the words
Pyro vision would be a plausible possibility since half of sumeru will be a desert, and deserts are really hot
That's a good point too! Pyro would be awesome too
I had my own theory about this
But it would be soo cool if for instance his burst or e skill would have like a quicksand , pulling inside enemies and stopping them from moving :))
Can't wait to see his kit and hopefully he's a 5 star
I would really appreciate a kit like that since anemo seems to be the only element that groups up enemies xD
If he's a Geo main DPS polearm user, I'm gonna C6 him 100%. I've been looking forward to him since I saw the trailer
Same it feels like we've been waiting for an eternity xD
Imagine if my boy had geo vision but he could manipulate sand
that would be so dope!
ahhh thank you trey! That means so much to me :D
i know im a bit late but i think cyno is gonna have a pyro vision because the first character we see of each region were always pyro: amber xiangling and Thoma.
and in the animation you can see something that looks like a vision on his hip with a red-ish color
but that's what i think
yeah he definitely could be pyro!
Im glad for all the info and knowing more about them but the amount of theories in these comments is something my brain can't comprehend 💀it's too much
Glad you enjoyed the video! I'm loving all the theories :D
Well presented, well narrated.
You just got a sub
ahhh thank you!
actually cyno and xiao were the two characters that led me to try and fall in love with Genshin, I already got Xiao, I hope to get Cyno when sumeru comes :)
That's awesome! I hope you are able to get Cyno once he gets released :D
@@BitSharkGames thank you!!
Same comrade. Practically started the game for them lmao
I still think Cyno might be pyro bc 1)that gem 2) when they show his eyes there's a little flame-like animation 3)fire archon based on her name miiiiiight be associated with the dead & resurrection + we have Hu Tao who is closely connected with the realm of those who perished and she's pyro as well
I also believe in "the old dendro archon is not dead" theory bc of... many reasons including the fact that even if dendro archon didn't intentionally fake his death Anubis is known to be the patron god of embalmers - he invented mummification the core purpose of which is to preserve the body for a new life and he did resurrect Osiris
Though I should mention another possibility too.
Nice video 😊
thank you!!!! 😀
15:39 if they are released at the same time and if collei becomes cynos assistant I think collei would be a new 4 star character and cyno would be the 5 star in the banner
yeah I agree that would probably make the most sense. If they are both 5 stars then rip to my wallet haha
Cyno is the only Dendro region character in interested in to be honest.
He's what brought me into the game! Hopefully the Sumeru characters are similarly themed! :D
@@BitSharkGames for me it was Kazuha.
I mean, we don‘t know many sumeru characters yet😂.
lmao the fact you predicted that collei will have a dendro vision
Awesome video, I learned a lot!
Thank you so much! I love your channel and videos :D
@@BitSharkGames really appreciate it!
Cyno is so cute I love his helmet ears, which got me Super interested in his lore
As a Christian (spasificly, a Roman catholic Christian), theres some things I must correct you on (bare with me, this isn't a spam thing). Yahweh is not the same as Jehovah, people back then thought yahweh isn't should be pronounced or a good name, so they think it should be jehovah (and so on) but then came back to yahweh as since jehovah is insulting (those who escaped from jehovah witnesses should be relieved that jehovah witness is not the true Christianity, yw)
Lastly, Christianity was Jewish, until God gave his only son too sacrifice for us. Jesus built his church with the 12 apostles too pass along his words, and asked saint peter to lead his church
10:45 also note that we call the lord our father, since he's our creator (no matter if someone is pegan, or atheist, their still a child of God)
I'm Jewish and your Theory is veryyy interesting and see you have done your research perfectly 😁
ahhh thank you! Tried to do my best to research it as thoroughly as possible :D
Just 4 more versions, wait for me Cyno I'm gonna BRING YOU HOME
Wait are those ears real
Smuru is the most interesting region so far unknown element and so. Many secrets
Lol this video kinda want me to change my mind on pulling for few upcoming characters and save for Sumeru XD
Even tho polearm isn't my type but his vibe is attracting me towards him..
I love his design and I need to start saving haha xD
@@BitSharkGames ikr XD I'm excited for Sumeru ngl, I hope it drops alot sooner.
Vision is base on their personality/ambition.
i believe it could be another pyro character, since pyro could mean transform or rebirth that fit Egyptian theme.
yeah that definitely matches the Egyptian theme and ties well with his connections to Anubis.
guys in his animation, if you look down onto his waist he is clearly wearing a pyro vision
every time i see albedo in your Videos i remember that i lost the 50/50 for qiqi 🙂💔
oh no :( thats the worst feeling 😢 hopefully next time you get him!
Same I lost it for keqing
i want him to speak in broken sentences like razor so that they could be friends, but i dont think that will happen..
from the information on this video alone, I could tell that Collei and Cyno would most likely have a dendro vision (geo would also be possible for cyno, I'm not too sure abt hydro)
since the visions have a pattern to the user's ambition and the gods/archon of the element, uh you get the idea. for example
anemo, God of freedom: Sayu(wishes to sleep? idk), Jean(freedom for the people of mondstadt)
Geo, God of contracts(or in some cases, hardworking): Noelle(hardworking to pass entrance exam), Ningguang(her past)
Electro, God of Eternity: Fischl(her parents support her for eternity) okay I have never done the research for electro lol maybe Sara and serving shogun for eternity??
Pyro, God of war: obviously most characters wants chaos of some sort
Hydro, God of justice: Xinqiu(this is obvious), Kokomi(justice/victory for watatsumi maybe)
Cryo, God of Love: Diona(stopping the wine industry so her father can keep her company) again, I didn't pay much attention to the cryo chars
Dendro, God of Wisdom: the vision holders may have the ambition to learn
okay, this is dumb, there's an article that explained this way better than how I did, that could explain more than my shitty knowledge :^
I think it's just some kind of jewelry or delusion, Because in the manga his skills are not green or yellow but white
Okay I agree with you, but in Genshin you can't estimate a person's age based on their physical appearance *cough* Xiao *cough*
It looks like those ears are real on Cyno's head, which would mean he's not human, so he wouldn't age the same way as humans. That is of course just a theory.
As much as pyro is an obvious option, He has a fire animation in his eyes and a red-Orange gem
The Gem instantly made me think Pyro! Unfortunately the angle is a bit weird so we can't make out if there is a pyro symbol inside of it.
Time to get another geo polearm user
Polearm Impact 😂
Great work brother,👍🔥🔥❤️
Thank you! :D
awesome video , but maybe in the clip with Cyno it could be smock and not sand ( sorry for my bad English)
ahhh thank you!! that's true, it could be smoke as well.
damn that crit rate tho
I’m gonna get him and yae miko! And Iansan *new Pyro child from natlan*
Natlan sounds like its gonna be a super awesome place
I think have seen those words in domains as well..if I remember correctly
Oh interesting! I'll definitely have to take a look
i assumed cyno would be our new dendro 5 star w/ the release of sumeru since it would be kinda boring if he was anything else imo, although i really love his design
Where can you read the genshin manhua(Chinese version of manga)? can't find it anywhere.
I'm not sure about the Chinese version. I would assume you'd have to access the CN website for that.
Wondering if he will use Egyptian fighting style 🐺
So basically Cyno is the albedo of sumeru and the green companion who follows cyno is like sucrose wannabe… interesting…
haha yeah it's a similar dynamic!
Sumeru should be very interesting considering the lesser keys of solomon (the basis of much of the lore of genshin) is ultimately based on jewish mythology, sumeru being based on somewhere in the middle east will hopefully give us more info about the deeper lore of the game.
I'm super excited for the lore that will come with Sumeru! And I agree it's looking like Sumeru is going to be a mix of multiple cultures
I think more pyro thinking the background is smoke instead of sand. Sand does make sense though so pyro, geo and anemo make the most sense but probably mostly pyro andthen geo.
Yeah I think Pyro is definitely still in the running! I'm hoping we get more information on him soon because Sumeru is coming up
@@BitSharkGames definitely, and hope all of these runs won't pull all of my primos (saving for Kokomi, Ayaka reruns and then Cyno)
ive been waiting for him since so long,i hope hes electro since we only have one electro male until now,
same it feels like he's so close but so far away xD
@@BitSharkGames I also feel like he is hiding something under his right eye, we never got to see his right in manga and even in teyvat storyline trailer, that's kinda sus
I think he is gonna be very good four star character
Sooo... residues are the purple fog in the game ? Like the one when we meet scaramuccia in the delusion factory
They're not necessarily the same thing, but they operate similarly. I think we'd need Mihoyo to confirm through lore to be 100% sure though
I see Cyno as Albedo and Collei as Sucrose.
hahah yeah definitely parallels there
Cynos connection with Anubis may mean getting a desert theme environment for sumeru
It sounds like it will be a mix of desert and jungle! :D
It there a chance that that in the middle of his belt is a pyro vision?
There is a possibility since we don't really get to see it from a good angle!
You are a CRAZY guy, You know That!
That just brings more questions than answers. What the heck is the Academia?
The Sumeru academia is the place where all the scholars and sages f Sumeru gather together to do research and learn more about the world. Hope that helps :D
His vision is Pyro there is red stone on his waist
