    Another top shelf demo. IR's sure make the decision whether to spend an hour or two (while enjoyable at times) mic'ing up a cab or not almost a no-brainer if working alone in the studio. I would love to see Pete incorporate more studio-flavored content along with regular gear demos!

    I think pick and mix modelling and IRs is a bit like buying pedals, extremely expensive in the long run. I have decided to downsize my $5000 worth of pedals collected over years and buy an Axe FX III and FC6 and give modelling a go. Wet dry Wet with one of my guitar amps with pristine Celestion’s greenback and creamback in the middle. FRFR two cabs as wet. This and Radar and Ox blah blah is just pick and mix modelling!

      @@nickm.9474 Yeah I know that, he said he's taking the signal from the Suhr reactive load and feeding it into the cab m. That way we'd be hearing the cab m DI and not the reactive load first.

    • @PeteThorn
      @PeteThorn  5 років тому +2

      It makes no difference Erik - you can do it either way and it will be exactly the same. It was convenient for me to do it this way because the reactive load is a few feet away, by my amps- and I have a patchbay on my desk that allows me to take the line level signal right out of it, into the pedal. But either way, you can either run speaker out of your amp through the speaker simulator box, and then into a load, or you can take the line out of the load into the speaker simulator box. The tone will be identical

      Erik Truss one advantage of loading the amp down before cab m is... if you can reduce the line out signal form the load box ( Torpedo Captor can do this) you can reduce to pedal level and run the load signal to effects pedals then to Cab m... depends on your pedals but TC Electronic pedals can take line level signals.

    Hi Pete, I’m copy-pasting this post from I one I just posted in your other video about the Revival Drive which kinda relates to this one in hopes that you see it and reply. I’m very sorry for the spam and I promise it’ll just be on these two vids... : Hey Pete, great video and awesome playing. I have a question and I think you’re very qualified to answer it: Bring it that I already own this pedal and I know it can get very close or even replicate many vintage & classic sounding amps, do you think it would be worth spending the money on some of UAD’s amazing classic amp plugins like the Plexi, Bluesbreaker and the Fender 55 tweed? I’m asking cause my new Apollo Twin MKII quad and the Two-notes cab M both arrive tomorrow. I also picked up that 3 UA plugins bundle for $399 which at one point I thought was crazy until I realized just how awesome they basically all are. Originally got them so I could get the Lexicon 480, the NEVE88 channel strip and the SSL bus compressor. The problem is that after hearing their amps I was amazed and my initial reaction was to get amp plugins instead but of the Origin Drive plus the CAB M can replicate those sounds, then I can go back to just opting for the mixing plugins I mentioned. Sorry for the long-winded comment I just wanna make sure I use my “3 wishes” wisely since they were so expensive. Thank you for the great video again!

    Good stuff, but can't one get approximately the same results with simple modeling software and an EQ? Someone who has the experience of knowing room sounds and mic placement (not to mention a preamp/load box) could have a blast with this I'm sure, but I doubt that most have that kinda knowledge. Seems to be, selecting a Bassman or what have you and diddling with the EQ would get most of us close enough.
    Maybe you could do a vid where you demonstrate terms you use to describe sounds. Like "woofy" for example. Also, give an example of where such sounds are useful or not.
