The acoustic IR was just amazing... that guitar came to life!
I've used my cab m+ that way and the difference it makes even on a cheap under saddle pickup is unreal.
My Cab M has served me very well the past few years for getting my amp’s sound into my daw, this seems like a very good natural update 👍

@@RossDaviesTwoNotes I have a CAB and a Captor X. Normally I wouldn't really need something like this if I was completely honest. But that acoustic feature is a real selling point for me. This would make quick recording of an acoustic incredibly easy.

Awesome video showing some of the capabilities of the new Two Notes "Opus". That acoustic guitar mic simulator/ IR blew my mind. That is some incredible stuff. I would definitely use that if I had an Opus. It is night and day from just using the pickup under the saddle. Honestly, a person wouldn't even need to use a mic; what the Opus adds is frankly better than I can do with the mics and the room I have. All the presets you made with the Opus sound great. I am seriously considering buying an Opus just by going by the great sounds you have made in this video. Thanks for the fantastic demonstration video, Pete.
The thr amps had mic emulation , was also impressive . And the more expensive preamps on the guitar or certain accoustic amps have it .
I never get why they don't use it everywhere in big stadium gigs the moment I hear that piezzo sound .
I use a Boss IR-200 and the Opus seems to be that on steroids in all regards. This could be a really good solution that sits somewhere between something like the Captor X and something like the Helix.

I know what I'm getting for Christmas this year! 😁 I'm glad that they chose to really emulate a few amps and get them as close as possible instead of trying to do like 80 or something. The majority of your tone comes from the speaker anyway and there is no shortage of that with this thing!
Great demo. That's some little box. Didn't realise that it would do acoustic as well. Extra kudos for The Chain. Here in the UK, The Chain from where the Bass comes in was the theme for Formula 1 coverage. BBC Radio F1 still use it!!
Pete, your Open Blues Dyn-IR has been my go-to cab in my Revv G20 with embedded TwoNotes Torpedo for some time. Previously used a Cab-M with HX Stomp. This little box is on the list now. Curious to see how it will compare to the Revv direct tones using the same Dyn-IR in them.
Great chime on the Foxy preamp. Usually other companies forget about the chime.

Hi Pete, I just run a Orange pedal baby into a 60watt Orange cab, I only run pedals and use a DI BOX to FOH.

Great pedal... Looked up their asking price, this is something I'll probably buy in large part for that acoustic preset. I have a lot of acoustics with UST pickups. For those just interested in an acoustic imaging pedal, the Fishman Aura Spectrum DI does this sort of thing as well. For a fee, Fishman will even let you send them your acoustic guitar and they will build the image for it using really high quality microphones, etc... but the built in images work well.

would be interesting to hear 2 acoustics with a piezo and the same IR to see how much the individual guitar still contributes to the sound.
For anyone looking for a budget option for running a line out with IR from a vintage style amp, many people don't realise that the NuX Solid Studio does this. I have one in the back of my amp. I run it with the power amp sim off and an Ownhammer cab IR and I've had plenty of compliments on my guitar tone from the FOH people. As with this one, it's not a load. The Solid Studio runs _between_ the amp and the loudspeaker. But I get a consistent, great tone with no messing around setting up mics.
Yes, Ive been using the CABM+ for the same application (cab sims). It works well..there is alot of tweaking possible, too. The market for this is getting crowded if anyone is selling into it..they better bring their A Game.

Extremely interesting! What do you think of the responsiveness when changing from a preset/DynIR/preamp to another, especially considering the MIDI connectivity? The classic use case would be to use a a more headroom-y preamp for clean wah sound in verses, and then dial in a slightly overdriven preamp for choruses. Would that include an unpleasant silence in between parts?
Not from our tests! There is a sweetwater video where we showcase some of the MIDI switching capability that is definitely worth a look!

Thanks Pete for another great review. Looks like the editor program is where the magic tweaks happen, not easy to do with just two nobs for control. Sounds great on bass, acoustic, and the clear crystal clean sound is great!
The editor works seamlessly on any mobile (Android or Apple) device as well.
Building a small board for my son. We are upgrading him from POD Go. Its basic: comp, couple DRVs, terraform, collider. What IR loader would you recommend?

I would like to see some solutions on how to integrate effect pedals (reverb, delay, modulations) with the Opus.
The "in front of Opus" option seems to be the only one.
ANNND... no stereo... is right? So x2 Opus if one want it... just like the CAB M+ (i have 2 of them and i think i must sell both).
Question: is the reverb now STEREO? I have the Cab M+ and there it's mono.
I would like to know more about the midi capabilities of opus. Like what midi pedal board to use & can the midi be used to switch between presets
You can use any MIDI for controller or device that sends midi commands
Kudos to TwoNotes for naming their Ampeg/Bass preamp "Peggy", as that's what I used to call my BiasFX bass patches! Ha!

Man, that digital preamp sounds surprisingly really good and convincing.. that 70's Marshall spits and compresses very similarly to the real deal. Def a fantastic practice gig and dare I say it, tracking tool too. I hate admitting that too! But these digital amps are getting better and better. I wouldn't be able to tell in a mix anyway.

In order to accomodate the higher gain preamps included in OPUS, an extensive overhaul of the existing C.A.B. M+ architecture was required. As such, we cant offer an update for the C.A.B. M+. Please bear in mind, we are committed to supporting our legacy products and will continue to release all necessary updates to ensure longevity of C.A.B. M+ - not to mention on-going DynIR releases so you have a cascade of fresh tones to play with!

The hummingbird IR was just an included impulse response that I tried, and it works instantly as you hear in the video to enhance the sound of the under saddle pick up on my Gibson and make it sound much more realistic, like a microphone on a guitar in a room

Hey Pete! Now that you're a Two Notes guy, I have a question about my set up. I have a Vox Ac15hw and a Power Station attenuator. SInce the Power Station acts as a reactive load box, what Two Notes product can I use to record direct? I assume I would come out of the Power Station's line out into an IR loader then into my interface? Which Two Note products could I use? Is the Opus an option? Thanks!
Ross from Two notes here. OPUS is indeed a great option for this - it features a 3-way input selector for Instrument, Amp and Live levels - Simply set this to Line, disable the TSM preamp emulation and you're set!

What about pedals after it? Two Notes recommends running modulation delays and reverbs after the opus through that line out but no one is showing that off.

So you can plug a guitar into the opus, and run it straight to a cab, or do you haft to have a power source to power the cab

I guess the saving grace here is the price. Otherwise it's pretty underwhelming. Another modeler with IRs. The acoustic SIM was nice. Maybe I have gear fatigue😢. The demo was great as always and Pete always knows how to get a great sound.

How did it work out? ….I’m considering paring this with my Maton 808 TE. It already has a great dual system pickup, but think this could take it up a level?

Ross from Two notes here - there's a myriad of updates included TSM preamps, MIDI integration, USB-C connectivity and a whole heap of hardware upgrades to accomodate the higher gain tones this unit offers. There's also a handy dual mono routing option letting you choose what processing comes out of the XLR and 1/4-inch outputs! Let me know if you have any more questions!

Impulse responses can be used for many different things, including speaker cab/mic simulation, room simulation, and yes, you can even make an impulse response of a microphone on an acoustic guitar…

Can’t tell about this one, but original CAB M+ with Fender-like preamp sim had pretty decent sound. Comparing them face to face TONEX gives more real amp feel, but it’s much harder to get tone you like. And for the IRs CAB is a way better than stock TONEX profiles.
Ross from Two notes here! We wont go into the which one sounds better, but we spent an insane amount of time voicing the launch TSM preamps included on the unit! If you get a chance to demo one, we're sure you'll be impressed! :)
Sounds great and seems like a well made product... but it seems to have a big drawback for my (like my CAB M+) in that it doesn't do stereo right? I find that's a weird limitation in 2023.
Ross from Two notes here. There is no Stereo output but there is a dual mono routing option for the XLR and 1/4-inch outs.
Buy two. I did with the M+ worked great with two Origin Effects preamps left and right.

The new Mooer multi effect (Prime 2) is smaller, and also supports external IRs. I also have a NUX Mighty Plug Pro, tiny, but that thing sounds like ass.
Ross from Two notes here! It may support IRs, however OPUS features a DynIR engine which offers cabinets equivalent to 160K static IRs! :)

Forgive my ignorance, Pete, but if there’s no acoustic amp model in the opus, how have you created the preset? Is it not based on an amp model?

No, it’s just an IR, plus some EQ and verb.

This really should have been a firmware upgrade for the CAB M+ it's basically just some extra pre-amp models, remember the CAB M+ already has the bassman, a USB-C port and a better impedance for the DI, oh and it's black..... save your money if you already have a CAB M+ there are better pre-amp models and pedals out there

Isn't it almost the same thing as Boss IR-200? Also has MIDI. You even had a similar demo acoustic guitar demo with it on this channel.
I'd imagine the difference here is going to be the tweakability of the Cab Dynamic IRs. The boss packs more in on the amp front, but they can't touch Two Notes on the cabs.
true, even though I found myself using a few well miked IRs rather than constantly messing with the virtual mic position, so I am not really looking at this as an advantage. Of course ability to load Two notes proprietary format is a plus

Yes there is a compressor. It's not an interface but does have a USB C port.
Ross from Two notes here. There is an enhancer built into the unit which adds a degree of compression. There is no built in Audio interface - let us know if you have any other questions!

Ross from Two notes here - there is no FX loop but there is dual mono routing between the XLR and 1/4-inch outputs; as such you can run an FX chain off one of the outputs and designate what signal processing block feeds this output!

@@cristianrinconguio755 In this instance, you could not implement this. We feel you would be better adding Delay and Reverb after the cabinet emulation for Studio-like processing and OPUS can certainly accomodate this providing your Reverb and Delay devices can accept a line level input.

So if I put my tuner, compressor, drives before the pedal, then my delay and reverbs after it - I’d be losing the headphone out to hear the effects after and also the DI (to FOH) would only hear what’s before it also right? I’d have to di box from the reverb which defeats this idea?
@@ShredBrosLTD Thanks for getting back to us. What is the context of your live performance setting? In most instances there are breakout boxes available for the feed to FOH although you may need a DI solution if your post FX can only send unbalanced signals; in addition, you could request a fold-back mix direct from the desk for headphone monitoring of your rig as a whole - this would have the added benefit of being able to blend in the rest of the band accompaniment with your monitor mix.
I prefer 3 good channels like the ReVolt and not this, sure they have different uses but sound wise Opus' amps are noth that great.
Pete is a very nice guy. Very humble and intelligent person, very knowledgeable and creative, very technical performer. What struck me in this video was his acoustic playing. I've just realised why I never liked his playing. He's got a touch of a lumberjack hacking a tree trunk, which is not a bad thing per se, mind you. It's my personal opinion, YMMV, of course.
