Great job on the video! I ordered my TB, and Controller for my HTC Z51. I can tell it will be a pain because the top will have to go in and out of Service mode because the trunk can’t be open at the same time. The battery will have to stay connected. It didn’t seem to harm your ride. You have the right attitude whilst walking through the steps. Very fun delivery vs. a deadpan rigid run-through.
Hey Matt. Inst ructions are pretty good except you’ve had your airbox off before and if you haven’t, there’s a bunch of connectors on the air box holding the wire loom, preventing you from getting the box out. I still haven’t found them all and I still can’t get the box out. But I assume because you already had the box out already had those cut so made it look pretty easy. If it’s your first time on a two 2023 it’s a little harder than what that looks. Thanks again for taking the time of the video.
Was running a consistent 3.1 second 0-60 in my non-Z51 C8. Looked for performance info with this Solar Performance ported throttle body but only found info on increased air flow so bought one hoping for more power anyway. Ran several 0-60 runs today and the time is same, 3.1. So far no change versus stock noticed for me. Shifts the same, runs the same.
@@RWDC8Z No, haven’t added a throttle body controller yet. Don’t see how it would improve full throttle acceleration unless I’m misunderstanding the principle. My goal is to realize a bit more HP and torque which the ported throttle body does not appear to have provided. Thinking headers and cats may be the best bet to achieve that.
@larrygrimes824 The throttle controller will make your car feel quicker and more nimble. 100% worth it. I have both and the car is 10x more fun to drive. You can thank me later.
Great job again! It will be interesting to see what this does in the 1/4 for this car. The great thing is this car is so consistent you should be able to see what this does. Nope you just need to get sponsored by AWE for one of those $1k CAI. That's steep for a CAI it would be nice to see quantitative data on those.
Great videos Matt! I am in my break in period and installed the tb today as well as an Attack Blue filter. Those clips were a bitch, ended up cutting some and doing my own zip ties on a couple of them. Otherwise the air box would not have come out, in hindsight tho it could have stayed in and the tb could be removed w/ the airbox in place. Glad I'm not doing it again lol. I took the opportunity to also Dynomat the rear cargo area and keep the temps lower. Again great channel, keep up the great work and smiles!
@@RWDC8Z That one bolt on the tb is hard to get to tho, w/ the airbox off you can get a better view, have more room and see what you are doing. I have some high flow cats on the way, just taking it in to have those done and car lowered next week. This is not an easy car to work on for sure.
Hey Matt, I’m Matt as well👍 Can’t wait to start adding mods to my C8. I have some crazy good videos and pictures of me racing at Laguna Seca I can’t wait to share.
Think a high flow filter should help more due to higher flow due to less restriction and would use a combo. I know the performance high flow filter did increase hp and tq due to the before and after DynoJet results on my C8. Can be got for about $100.00. In the past I saw little to nothing from ported TB's in the 1/8 or 1/4 on the 2 C7's I owned.
@@kurtthomas4746 AFE Performance has the dry or oiled versions, I believe the oiled is the performance version and they are both able to be cleaned and reused, they claim I believe the oiled version out flows the OEM by up to 28 percent.
Don't if you'll get this now, but I'm installing a ported intake & throttle body, can't get that lower right connector in the lower back apart to get to the lower right airbox bolt...any tips?
Thanks for the tutorial, Matt. I'm curious about the factory C8 throttle body. Was there oil residue accumulated around the butterfly like happens on C7 throttle bodies?
You don't need to. I put one on my C7 and it made a huge difference. That was about a year ago. If you're on the fence, just get one. Get the throttle controller also, I promise you'll love it!

No disrespect intended, but if you have been to a *real* Trackday on a *real* racetrack, you are going to see Miatas pass Corvettes. It's a fact. It's not about the power; It's about "Can you *drive* in reality". How to videos on UA-cam are fantastic. Thank you for the very significant time and effort to make it. Hopefully a couple people will truly understand this, and realize I'm not trolling and purposely being a jerk.
Not to troll or anything LOL but couldn’t you just remove the throttlebody without removing the trunk? Like disconnected from the other side and just yank it out
@@dmraco Yep, All you have to do is remove the INtake Manifold and loosen the rubber boot around the TB and it pulls out nice and easy! Then just pull the TB off the manifold. MUCH, MUCH easier, Have to remember to torque the manifold properly tho
