I'm confused. Covering the hair shows you are married but to anyone the wigs look so like they're you're real hair that the symbolism seems lost. Replacing your hair with another woman's hair. Or is it that the symbolism is between yourself and your husband?
Exactly!! The covering of hair is meant to be a symbol for the woman herself and not for anyone else. Just as a kippah is a sign for each man that there is Gd above him- it’s not there to show the world that he is Jewish; but serves as a reminder to each man for himself. Hope I explained well.
@@SonyasPrep Thank you for explaining that. I’m new to your channel (I’m Catholic but am fascinated to learn about your customs and traditions) and bingeing on your videos lol
Hello! I’m Catholic, and I cover my head at Mass. I’ve been covering for 24 years, mostly with a lace mantilla or a slouchy hat. Like you, it is meaningful for me, and I love it. ❤
That's beautiful Jen. I am feeling drawn to cover my head also as I deep dive into Torah and the connections to our New Testament scripture. But am a little shy at the moment, I've only gotten as far as wearing scarves to Church. We'll see if the Spirit moves me to go further. 💖
When I was in elementary school in the 1950's we girls had to cover our head every time we stepped into a church. I thought the Catholic church removed that rule 🤔. Anyway, I've long left the Catholic church, but I've noticed women walking into church on Sunday without head coverings.
Thank you so much for this brilliant topic : ). I cover my hair also as a Muslim girl, and its amazing to know that our religions are so similar and beautiful to see a UA-cam influencer following their religion so closely with God in mind. May God continue to bless you!
You looked amazing in the wig with the lighter brown highlights!!!! That really suited your eye color and skin tone. And that length was fun and cute too!! Highly recommend for you. 👍
My grandmother, always said, “a woman’s hair is her crowning glory”, she did not cut her hair, she kept it neat and tidy in braids, wrapped around her head. I think other religions are so interesting, now I’m a Christian and will stay in my belief, but I love to see other religions too and their traditions. Thank you for sharing your home, family and recipes!
I just had a discussion with someone on FB about women not cutting their hair due to religious beliefs and the person *informed* me that Jewish women shaved their heads and wore wigs and that I was an idiot for commenting what I said. Now I'm about to watch this video....
@@sometimessnarky1642 well geesh, no need to call you an idiot. You didn’t know, no need to get rude on those who don’t know. Sorry you where treated that way!
You are so beautiful- you could never look ridiculous. You are a wonderful role model! Thanks for taking us to studio 18. I absolutely love the new wig- wear it in the best of health!
I am Jewish so I understand the reasons behind covering your head. I think it is a beautiful expression of love for your husband and honoring your marriage. I am so impressed by how you communicate so well to help people who are not Jewish, to help them understand how and why we do things the way we do. I really enjoy all your videos. They help create order out of chaos in daily living and make things less stressful.
I have known many Jewish women who do not cover their heads. In fact there are a lot of people in the entertainment industry who are jewish and it's very evident that they do not cover their heads. I have many reformed Jewish friends.
On the observation that many Jewish women do not cover their heads, you are absolutely correct. Depending on your affiliation, the observance is different. You are correct that women in the Reform movement don't usually cover heads. But interestingly, I do see more and more women covering their heads in my Reform temple during services. I am always interested in how people observe traditions and rituals to express their spirituality. I like listening to people's life stories and how they live out their beliefs.
Your faith and way of life is so intriguing, inspiring and beautiful. I admire anyone dedicated to their faith by living, not just by talking. I’m so happy YT recommended one of your videos this morning. Your content is wonderful!
Hi Sonya I'm a non Jewish lady from the UK and I love watching your videos. Your description of things make it easy to understand, I'm really interested in the way of Jewish life and listen to a lot of Jewish music. It was interesting to know why you cover your hair and those wigs were beautiful in studio 18. Stay safe 💗💗
Sonya, I am past child bearing years, almost 60, and my hair has gotten so thin! I may very well choose to invest in a wig although I'm afraid I would stick out like a sore thumb. I appreciate this video because it shows that a hair covering can be beautiful as well as natural looking.
this is personal but since i went keto one ingredient keto as in no processed boxed foods my hair got thick. i can relate to hair thinning. consider less carbs more meat. i even have facial hair now that needs waxing never before did i have this.
I have recently started covering my hair from time to time, I'm not culturally required to do it, it's simply a practicality. I have very fine hair, and there are days where it looks awful, so a headscarf has been my saving grace. Head covering can be really beautiful and I respect anyone that does it everyday and hope anyone that covers their hair/head can feel beautiful and good about themselves when wearing it❤
The last few months I have been wearing scarves and beanies too, but not for religious reasons. I had a pretty good head of hair, but because of an illness, most of my hair fell out. However, now it is all growing back, but it is sticking out all over, so I am still wearing something on my head when I go out. I really appreciate videos like this.
@@lisabaltzer4190 I wish you a good recovery and that you can get to a place were you are satisfied and happy with your hair again. Good health to you☺
Peachy, I have the Nordic/Slavic hair type, too, and used to wear a head scarf sometimes, just because I liked the way it felt, and it made up for bad hair days. Where I live it is not a cultural requirement to wear a head covering, and with this hair type, one can easily overheat. I just wanted to share a tip on a hair product I just found and enjoy, because I know the stress from trying to make thin hair look pretty. It is an affordable dry shampoo spray, with volume effect. It really pumps up the hair to look more like "normal" hair, and prevents the wear from over washing. Haven't tried it under head covering yet, but after removing the scarf, the spray can be used to freshen up and de-flatten. It's called batiste instant hair refresh, heavenly volume. I am just a user, and not associated with the product.
I tend to live near the coast where the wind can whip up cold unexpectedly. I think that may be why I have become accustomed to wearing head coverings.
I'm not Jewish or even religious but I wear tichels and scarves myself and I absolutely love the ones from Wrapunzel. They're high quality and so colorful! I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to try out wrapping.
Wrapunzel's tichels and accessories are top notch and not expensive. I have several tichels from them and love them all. Their tutorials on UA-cam are excellent as well.
Loved the one you chose and I also really liked the lighter brunette with highlights too! I love learning about your culture, I hope you can share more snippets and I genuinely appreciate your willingness to share with us! ❤️
I just recently found your channel and just wanted to thank you for sharing your life in such a public way. I have always been very interested in learning about people of other cultures and faiths, and learn something new with each of your videos. You have a new fan in South Carolina!
Hi Sonya! I have really been enjoying watching your videos. I’m a religiously-minded Catholic stay-at-home mom and I find it fascinating how our lifestyles are so similar. I have recently (within the past year) begun wearing a veil at Mass. I totally respect the Jewish tradition of covering your hair and I love that your family is so faith-filled. I think the reasons behind covering women’s hair may be slightly different in our respective traditions, but it’s just really cool that in many ways we have more in common than we have differences. Thank you for opening your home to me and allowing me to learn about your beautiful traditions. Many blessings to you and those you love.
I, also, wear a veil to church..as well as my daughters.....there are very few women who wear them in our church. But I feel closer to G-d when I do wear it
I'm a non denominational Christian woman and have been thinking a lot about covering of the hair, lately. The Bible does say that a woman who prays without her head covered has dishonored her head, it also says we are to pray without ceasing. I have been praying about this and think I may start covering, always.
And that is just the problem with religion, it is a divisive concept. Women wear head coverings in most cultures all over the world for very practical reasons like hygiene, saving water, saving time, having extra cloth for use while on the move..ect. The institutions are very wise to turn an extremely common habit of human females into a religious social tradition. This is a good way to get people used to following orders. Find something that they do already and make it a signal for your group.
@@BobbiJoGeho Everything you do in life is a prayer and where you put cloth in no way would ever dishonor god. All that sin talk is just about making you scared and obedient. its time to let that sh*t go.
Thank you so much for sharing I really needed your channel :) I'm a Jewish woman living in Israel and I'm slowly getting into our beautiful religion since my parents aren't religious everything is very new and feels very far away from me, and you sharing your life is so soothing and comforting for me, makes being a wife and a mom feel more doable for me, it's something I really want but also extremely afraid of not being able to keep my life together and just falling apart, you really give me hope, thank you. Also the head cover is also something I feel insecure about and wish to feel pretty in, you sharing also really makes me feel better about this, thank you, it's truly Kidush Hashem, I wish you and your family the best!
The cover of the hair is a fortuna for your family, honor and respect in the street, with women almost naked almost, women,. The love for Tate" our Almigty God is in our hearts, with your good exemple, bring salvation to all the World B'H 🙏👌😇
Dear Yael, I don't know if Alfasi is your married name or your maiden name (assumng that you are or were married) but most likely you or your husband descend from Rabbi Yitzhak Alafasi who lived about 1000 years ago, Alfasi meaning from the city of Fez, Morocco. He was a great luminary and his works are studied t this day. May God guide you on your path to come closer to Him and the Torah.
@@myriamgabbay111 It is my maiden name, and I really hope I am, that would be so awesome :) thank you so much, may God bless you and you'll feel his presence and that you'll live in heaven on earth always.
I sooo enjoyed this video 🤗 I’ve always covered my hair, mostly indoors & for bedtime but of late I decided that I was now ready to start implementing the Mitzvah of covering my hair as a married Sephardic woman. So I have a variety of scarves, caps etc. but didn’t feel comfortable going outside of the house with these anymore so I purchased a wig similar to my own hair & have been wearing a wig since 2 weeks and feel soo happy to have an extra option asides from the usual head coverings 🥰
Absolutely stunning! I loved this video. I came for food prep. But decided to stay. The format was great. You look beautiful in the sky blue covering The second and third time made you look very regal. Your so beautiful. Thank you for showing us how important your hair coverings are. Great video
I loved the 2nd attempt with the wrap you used over the black head cover. You look very glam and it definitely suit you. I love your new wig! But I also love the one with blond highlights, you can definitely carry that one off amazingly. 🧿🥰
Thanks for showing us all your head coverings and wigs. So beautiful. I always wondered why women choose wigs instead of just showing their own hair, but you explained it perfectly. Other women have said that their hair is their beauty to keep private for their husband only. But that doesn’t make sense if you look just as beautiful with someone else hair on top of yours. 🙏❤️
Sheitel shopping is exciting...but also incredibly stressful. Always important to go to people who you trust. The person you went to did a beautiful job! My last sheitel purchase was last year and I'm still in love with it. It's hard to find something that looks like you did before you got married. I just wanted to look like me still-that was the big challenge. BH I found a great place to go to with a great style team! Wear it in good health...always with Mazal and Bracha!
My husband teaches science at a Yeshiva, and I have met some of the wives and mothers, but never understood some of the customs. Your videos help make your faith understandable to “outsiders” like me who are curious but don’t know how to ask questions without being rude. Thank you!
I love this!💙 You are so beautiful and I love learning from you. I'm a Oneness Pentecostal Christian and we do not cut our hair and follow modesty. I find this inspirational, in the same modest spirit. I love learning about Judaism, both as my Christian roots and also as a beautiful and holy religion on it's own merit. Lately, I've been drawn to discovering more about head coverings. I have wore them some and am sort interested in this path. The covering you felt awkward in was beautiful. The 2nd and 3rd styles of it were very flattering. I encourage you to try it!🙂 Thank you for sharing with us. Have a blessed day. 🙏
As an apostolic woman, a Christian, we are taught your HAIR is given as a covering in 1 Corinthians 11:15 in the new testament of the Bible. We are reminded that God and the angels are watching even when men are not present, and your covering (HAIR) reflects submission to God and your husband. Thank you for sharing this video with us. It was very interesting.
The wig turned out so lovely. I actually loved the first one you showed us. The "ombre" (I think it's called that), or highlighted wig is a very nice look, adds dimension and is just kind of fun and different, but I realize how important it is for every woman to feel comfortable with what she chooses. Let's face it, these wigs are not inexpensive, so you want to make sure you are very happy and satisfied with what you choose.
Your new wig is beautiful! I find you're commitment to your faith so touching & so honorable. Before I watched your video I didn't understand why Jewish women had to cover their hair, thank you for the education & insite into why it's important and what it means. I hope you enjoy your new luscious locks, you look amazing!
I can't wait for this one! I have leukemia and wear a wig when I'm in public. I have enough hair in front for a fall though. I'd like to see which coverings could work that would be more comfortable too. My wigs are great but they can exacerbate the headaches I have with chemo. I set a reminder for this video!
I think it’s amazing you made this video even though it’s not your usual content. I really admire that you often seize the opportunity to make a kiddush Hashem. Love the new shaitel, תתחדשי!
looking forward to this video! I cover myself. I enjoy watching you! you inspire and encourage me as a stay at home mom of 3. Thank you. Hashem bless you and keep you.
You are beautiful in any of them! Keep working with the wrapping ones they look gorgeous on you. I'm also happy to see how they are put on. Thanks for showing us. Blessings!
Omg Sonya, you look so beautiful in the blue Bobo(sp?) You should try to wear it more, it's gorgeous on you 😍 thank you for making this, I love to learn about different cultures and religions, especially the food. Thanks for sharing this with us. Lots of love from Dublin, Ireland 💚🇮🇪
The wrap that you questioned about is very pretty. I believe the issue is the pastel colors. If you would get one that is in your go to darker colors, you will possibly enjoy wearing it.
This is what I was going to say- I don’t think it’s the way you’re wrapping it, but it’s the solid pastel - the way you’re wrapping it is actually beautiful! I think you would feel like it’s more you if you used a scarf with a pattern or jewel tones if you’re going with a solid.
the second way with the blue scarf was stunning and so was the 3rd way, I love the new wig I think it's wonderful that you cover your hair wish I could cover mine I think it would make life much easier
I wish I had seen this video four years ago when I lost a lot of my hair due to complications from cancer combined with the stress and shock to my system from anesthesia (twice in a months time) and medications. What hair I had was so severely damaged that my only option was to chop it off and wear a wig. Unfortunately the one I got through a cancer support group wasn't flattering in style or color, but it was the only longer one they had. I am Apostolic Pentecostal, so going with a short wig wasn't an option. Eventually my hair grew back enough and was healthy enough that I could wear scarves, but I struggled with how to tie them so they didn't look too "old lady". By the grace of God I am cancer free now and my hair is down to my bra, longer and thicker than it's been since I was little.
I think it is fabulous because you can actually change your hair color without damaging your natural hair AND you can have different lengths as well!!! You are beautiful!! TFS.😊💇♀️❤
I love that you follow your convictions. I was bald for a year due to chemo, and I didn’t wear a wig because that’s what felt right for me. I think covering your head is a beautiful tradition and I applaud you.
You are one of my favorite UA-camrs to watch and learn from. I started watching your videos due to our common love of cooking but I continue because you truly enrich my life and inspire me. I am not Jewish but moved to a city with a large Jewish population so I want to learn more. I hope this doesn’t sound ignorant (because, believe me, the faith I was raised in, Catholicism, is not without misconception or fault), but you have really opened my mind about Judaism, and I know you do this for others as well, and in a world where I bet there are some prejudices, lack of understanding, etc. I think this is brave + generous of you. Lastly, your wigs are gorgeous and stunningly realistic! Loved all your other ways of covering and accessorizing. The boba (sp?) looks phenomenal, btw!
I agree with you Sonya about the stablizer, filler cap that goes under the scarf, every time I put one on it looks gigantic and too much but I see it on other women and it looks great! Idk why
Hey girl! That was awesome video! Wonderful topic. You should consider the blond too. It's beautiful on you. I'm Christian and saw my grandma covering her hair to go to church. Currently, I cover my hair to cook to my family and my husband always say that I show my Jewish roots doing that. 😉 I appreciate your courage. Love you.
I recently subscribed to your channel and after a long day I like to watch your videos. I never learn the dynamics between husband and wife. You inspire me to be a better woman, you motivate me to keep my house organized and clean. You bring a lot of structure into my life. I’m not religious but some of your traditions/ rituals make a lot of sense to me. I’m slowly creating my own version of Shabbat. I’m finding I can incorporate them into my life without the religious aspect. Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely love the 2nd tie you did with the blue material. Looks stunning. Really stylish and regal! You could get a broach for the front to finish it off i think that would look so elegant ☺️
I just started to cover my hair. I wanted to give my husband something I have never done with anyone else and show the respect that he deserves. Thank you for this video and showing the different ways I can wear my head covering.
Sonya, you are beautiful and this video is a mitzvah to understand your hair covering journey and that it’s a process and not something static in time. Your wigs always look so natural and effortless. You should go back for the highlighted one! It’s also stunning on you.
The last hat and pale blue scarf looked absolutely gorgeous on you!!! All of them looked beautiful, but that pale blue is definitely you and very pretty the way you wrapped it the second try!😃
I wear head wraps, for hair loss. I also wear hats and wigs. I’m much more confident with hats, and pashmina wraps, than wigs. It’s wonderful to have so options. I think you did a great job with your wraps too.
Great video. I feel like watching this helps Jewish women too because it can be difficult to take this on since there are so many options of how to cover. Every one just needs to find their own fit.
When I was younger I grew up in Borough Park Brooklyn and went to New York City technical college we are a lot of us girls would wear very modest clothing. At the time I was not married but a lot of my friends were and we would often go to Junnies and get the latest in fashion. However I am no longer religious. But watching your channel really makes me miss what I grew up with. I remember going with my girlfriends to get their first sheitel before their weddings. Your videos remind me of what I knew.
Thank you for sharing this video. I've been drawn to cover my head even though I am now widowed. I did not grow up with this custom but anxious to learn. Thank you for your generosity.
You have such a beautiful face. You look gorgeous in all of the hats scarfs and wigs. I didnt know that it was a wig it looks so natural. Thank you for letting us see this part of you.
Thank you for this! I am a Christian woman who wears a head covering and the different options you've shown are great. I completely forgot about wigs! Thanks for the reminder. Have a wonderful day. Shalom and G-d bless!
@Lara Gravenor the same reason an orthodox Jewish woman covers her head. After all the same rules apply to both (excluding the NT). G-d does not change and neither does his word.
It's actually only in really recent years that women stopped doing it in Western countries. Even in the 50's women were wearing scarfs, they just said it was fashionable, also the history of hats. It says in the bible if wearing the head covering becomes controversial and destracts from the gospel to do away with the tradition which is probably what happened with the rise of feminism, but nowadays there's no reason not to do it, if it's done of your own free will and personal dedication to G-d.
@Lara Gravenor just Jesus makes us righterous. But if you love God, you feel drawn to do what pleases Him. Not because works could save you, but because you love Him. It is the same Lord and God. And these are the roots of our faith.
I have to say I absolutely LOVED the blonde highlighted wig on you! You looked so beautiful! But I completely understand. Every wig I get, I'm thinking I will get something different. But no.....i always get my real hair color with highlights. My only suggestion Sonya, is to clarify that generally speaking, it is Orthodox Jewish women who cover their hair. Not all Jewish women cover after marriage (such as Conservative, Reform, etc). Many of your viewers who are not Jewish should understand this detail. I am Jewish as well and I occasionally get questions from really confused people! 😃
@@TheUnplannedLove none family, but some even in front of family. A rabbi's wife always covered even in front of her children, and they all grew up to be Rabbis and Rabbi wife's. So some choose to do that.
It is a blessing. So many wonderful hats, scarves, and wraps, and wigs. G-d knew we are busy and this is a blessing to look wonderful just putting one on and be ready to go!
I think you did a wonderful job with that pale blue scarf! You also looked beautiful in the wig with the blonde highlights. I think it really suits you.
Thank you so much for addressing this topic! I always thought the hair we saw you with in your videos was your real hair! Never would I have imagined that it was a wig, it is so realistic. So I thought not all Jewish married women covered the real hair lol, that you were a little rebel 🤣! Your new wig is just awesome, and you look absolutely stunning with it, as well as your head scarves 🥰

Thank you for taking your viewers on this quest and for educating those of us who are not in the “know” of your traditions. It is all beautiful and respectful. Your primary beauty comes from within, and in addition, you have been blessed with physical beauty. The head wrap which you struggle with is actually attractive, but it may not be your style, in your comfort level, as you said. Your new wig (helper hair) is lovely as are you!
Hello Sonya! I love the new wig it’s really beautiful. Thanks for sharing about the head coverings. The one you don’t like does look good though! I totally look forward to more vids! 😊
It is interesting how covering of head done in different cultures. I am a Muslim woman but I have never been strict about covering my hair. I just love it how you cover your hair in different ways
This was a great video. I'm not really religious but I do a lot of what I guess you would call religious studies and I'm also very spiritual. I still pray as well. I felt called to begin covering my hair last year and it has been such a wonderful journey for me. It is like having a secret happiness between you and the Creator, at least that's how it feels to me. It just brings me so much joy and I feel a lot more confident too. Thank you for the lovely video. It is always nice to see how other women style their wraps and how they cover. Thank you! 💕
I appreciate how you share different aspects of your faith with us. I am not Jewish, but I am a Christian and am very curious about the Jewish roots of my faith...I love the wigs that you wear, they look very natural. I am African-American and stopped perking my hair about 6 years ago and wear it natural. I've experimented with wigs and head wraps and love how versatile they can be. I think you did a good job with the light blue scarf. It looked really nice on you...😊💖
I am a Jew but NOT Orthodox. However, I am also a dialysis client who considers the treatment my PART TIME JOB with my off days strong and productive. I often have hair issues that your wonderful presentation has helped. I ordered a volumizer from Wrapunzel because of you. Thank you so much. I like going into the unit well dressed but comfortable. I have a million scarves so I will have fun working with them once the volumizer gets here. I went on Amazon to get polyester filler (for crafts or stuffing pillows). Not expensive. I hope it will fill the volumizer. I make a Shabbat dinner even though our kiddos are grown with a family of their own. Thank you, too, for the recipes. You are a very nice and giving lady. Your helpful videos are a kind of special giving in themselves even if one is not Orthodox. May all the blessings of goodness in health and prosperity be yours and your family's.
Your hair looks so real! Thank you for taking us along to the wig shop and also for making this informative video. I just discovered you and notice that you did this two years ago. I hope I find more current videos because I'm enjoying these so much.
I never thought before about trying on a long wig and then having it cut to your specifications. Tricky because, as you said, you can't grow it back if too much is cut off! I really enjoyed this look behind the scenes and ALL the various hair coverings.
When you think about how much women typically spend on hair extensions, products and coloring, you quickly realize how much time and money is wasted. I really appreciate you sharing your tradition and beliefs, as well as showing respect for your husband and family ❤️
I absolutely LOVE that blonde blended wig on you!! The dark looks best, because it is your natural color (hence your eyebrows), but the blonde blend looks spectacular!!!! You did an awesome job representing tichels. My collection is much smaller, but I do have a few I truly love the look of and I wear those the most. Like you, I haven’t been able to master the ‘poof’ bonnet, it just hasn’t worked for me. I prefer to use my bun form for my volume in the back. Now you just need to show us where you got that beautiful necklace! It’s obviously your signature piece. I think it’s gorgeous, but you’ve never shown us a closer view of it. I bounce between my Mom necklace from Alef Bet, which has the Magen David as the “o” and a tree of life necklace I own. I don’t know which would be my ‘signature’ piece. Hehehe
I know what you mean about not feeling like the light blue wrap you did feels like you, but I must say it looks beautiful on you. When I started doing those kinds of wraps it felt like "too much" or like I was really standing out, but I got compliments and I tried to remind myself that I loved the look on others. It took me some time to get used to it, kind of like new clothing styles, but I loved it after some time. I think you did it really well.

I appreciate it so much that you shared such a personal tradition in such a public place. You and your personality are so beautiful and you honestly look beautiful in all of the head wear that you put on. What I don’t understand though is when you cover your head with such a beautiful wig that often times might look better than your own hair it seems like sort of a “cheat” In that strangers might see a more beautiful head of hair than your husband sees when you take the wig off. I would love it if you would address this question.
Thank you!!!! I’ve been wondering about your hair covering. I am new to this and have been covering for nearly 2 years. There is so much to learn! I love your new wig! Xo
I really loved the blue wrap. It looks great on you. I like the wig you whine up getting in the end. Thank you for inspiring me to get some wraps and wigs😊
Very interesting and educational video. I grew up with very liberal Jewish kids, and there was none of this. It's important to make this distinction. Religions have a spectrum of practices. You are such a beauty too, and your videos are lovely. Dr. Y, NYC

I always cover my head. It feels healthier, cleaner, and appropriate for me. It doesnt have to be a message about my relationship with god.
You may cover your head at mass but that is no longer a rule. That ended in the 1960s. I know this because I am Catholic.

Anyway, I've long left the Catholic church, but I've noticed women walking into church on Sunday without head coverings.
I'm a black woman and I think you did well on the light blue headwear. It takes practice, but the outcome is a really pretty and sophisticated look.
It’s definitely her style!

The second way she tied that light blue scarf was absolutely stunning.
That one was so beautiful!
Why mention your colour? I'm black and wouldn't have done it as my colour has no relevance in how I view how a woman tied her headwear.
Thank you so much for this brilliant topic : ). I cover my hair also as a Muslim girl, and its amazing to know that our religions are so similar and beautiful to see a UA-cam influencer following their religion so closely with God in mind. May God continue to bless you!
Amen, thank you, you too.

I am curious, does the constant pulling back of one's own hair and wearing head coverings and/or wigs damage your own hair?
You looked amazing in the wig with the lighter brown highlights!!!! That really suited your eye color and skin tone. And that length was fun and cute too!! Highly recommend for you. 👍
Thank you so much!!
I call my hair my crown too I instantly thought of my hair as my crown growing up to god during this video lol
My granny always said the same to me as well.

So agree.
I love the blue scarf.
I am not Jewish but I totally respect why this is done. I appreciate you educating and sharing your life 🥰 thank you ❤
I am Jewish so I understand the reasons behind covering your head. I think it is a beautiful expression of love for your husband and honoring your marriage. I am so impressed by how you communicate so well to help people who are not Jewish, to help them understand how and why we do things the way we do. I really enjoy all your videos. They help create order out of chaos in daily living and make things less stressful.
I dont exactly understand but i love trying to and I also really enjoy these videos helping us to understand her daily activities.
Thank you for sharing your culture with us in such a clear, loving, and peaceful way. It takes courage to be so open. Peace to you and your family.
And to you as well
Your faith and way of life is so intriguing, inspiring and beautiful. I admire anyone dedicated to their faith by living, not just by talking. I’m so happy YT recommended one of your videos this morning. Your content is wonderful!
Wow, thank you!
Absolutely
Sucks to lose hair.
this is personal but since i went keto one ingredient keto as in no processed boxed foods my hair got thick. i can relate to hair thinning. consider less carbs more meat. i even have facial hair now that needs waxing never before did i have this.
You can wear a wig with a lace front it makes the hair look like its growing from your head. Extremely natural
@@Cutelittlecountrygirl I started the keto diet 2 yrs ago, am 72 yo & my hair is now thicker than ever! Who knew?
You look absolutely gorgeous, with or without the hair coverings!! Thank you for being so gracious and sharing your secrets with us.
I'm not Jewish or even religious but I wear tichels and scarves myself and I absolutely love the ones from Wrapunzel. They're high quality and so colorful! I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to try out wrapping.
Ditto. I dont feel comfortable out in public without my head covered. Its just my personal sensibility, nothing to do with my relationship to god.
Wrapunzel's tichels and accessories are top notch and not expensive. I have several tichels from them and love them all. Their tutorials on UA-cam are excellent as well.
I buy items from Wrapunzel as well, love Wrapunzel ❤️ 😊
Loved the one you chose and I also really liked the lighter brunette with highlights too! I love learning about your culture, I hope you can share more snippets and I genuinely appreciate your willingness to share with us! ❤️

Amy so many people have been commenting the same. We as a people absolutely have way more in common then differences.
Thank you so much for sharing I really needed your channel :)
I'm a Jewish woman living in Israel and I'm slowly getting into our beautiful religion since my parents aren't religious everything is very new and feels very far away from me, and you sharing your life is so soothing and comforting for me, makes being a wife and a mom feel more doable for me, it's something I really want but also extremely afraid of not being able to keep my life together and just falling apart, you really give me hope, thank you.
You look beautiful in the sky blue covering
The second and third time made you look very regal.
The pale blue one is absolutely gorgeous, and you are beyond stunning in it 💜
The straight hairstyles are so flattering for you. It makes you look youthful, yet elegant at the same time.
Hi 👋 how are you doing?
Thank you!
My pleasure
Praise the Lord sister Heather! I am also Apostolic if you can't tell lol. I love learning more about other cultures, especially for the women.
She is definately commited to only doing what she is 'allowed' to do.
I can't wait for this one! I have leukemia and wear a wig when I'm in public. I have enough hair in front for a fall though. I'd like to see which coverings could work that would be more comfortable too. My wigs are great but they can exacerbate the headaches I have with chemo. I set a reminder for this video!
May you have the energy and strength you need in your recovery 💕
I hope you get well soon.

You can.
TFS.😊💇♀️❤
Good point!
I love that you follow your convictions. I was bald for a year due to chemo, and I didn’t wear a wig because that’s what felt right for me. I think covering your head is a beautiful tradition and I applaud you.
You have such a pretty face you look good in everything! 😃
Love your kind message❤️❤️
I agree with you Sonya about the stablizer, filler cap that goes under the scarf, every time I put one on it looks gigantic and too much but I see it on other women and it looks great! Idk why
Beautiful explanation! I enjoyed your video! I also love all your caps, scarfs and wigs
Glad you like them!
Your comment made me so happy. Loved reading it. Thank you for taking the time to watch and subscribing. Comments like yours make it all worth it.
Absolutely love the 2nd tie you did with the blue material. Looks stunning. Really stylish and regal! You could get a broach for the front to finish it off i think that would look so elegant ☺️
Thanks so much! 😊
I like the final way you wrapped the turban look. Very chic!!
Thank you
The last hat and pale blue scarf looked absolutely gorgeous on you!!! All of them looked beautiful, but that pale blue is definitely you and very pretty the way you wrapped it the second try!😃

Great video. I feel like watching this helps Jewish women too because it can be difficult to take this on since there are so many options of how to cover. Every one just needs to find their own fit.
Big thumbs up for this exceptional video! Very professionally done, and you look gorgeous in everything you wear.

This was very informative but the best part is how nice and calming your voice is
Thank you for sharing this video. I've been drawn to cover my head even though I am now widowed. I did not grow up with this custom but anxious to learn. Thank you for your generosity.

@@Rosee3333 that's new to me
It's actually only in really recent years that women stopped doing it in Western countries.
@Boola Vogue same in Portugal and in a lot of Roman catholic countries, especially in rural areas
Right thank you for clarifying
I agree- the blonde highlighted wig was very becoming on you! But then again anything looks great on you Sonya! You are a natural beauty!
Who do Jewish women cover in front of? Everyone? Or just non-family?
@@TheUnplannedLove none family, but some even in front of family. A rabbi's wife always covered even in front of her children, and they all grew up to be Rabbis and Rabbi wife's. So some choose to do that.

Thank you so much for addressing this topic! I always thought the hair we saw you with in your videos was your real hair! Never would I have imagined that it was a wig, it is so realistic.

Hehehe
Well, blondes do have more fun.
You look beautiful in all the options.
Thank you for sharing.
Oh thank you!
I love that pastel headwrap! I'd like to get one of my own. ❤️ Much love to you!

You look stunning in blond! I loved! Shalom from Brazil 🙏🏾
I loved the slightly blonde wig on you, it's such a different look! And the blue scarf you had on looked gorgeous on you :)
Beautiful! The blue head piece is so beautiful and looks beautiful on you!
Xo
You’re stunning. Thank you for sharing this I love that your content allowed me to learn something new.
Hi how are you doing?
I really loved the blue wrap. It looks great on you. I like the wig you whine up getting in the end. Thank you for inspiring me to get some wraps and wigs😊
My pleasure
I think it looks very beautiful the one blue head wrap you are wearing. It look so beautiful on you.
Thank you Eve
Very interesting and educational video. I grew up with very liberal Jewish kids, and there was none of this. It's important to make this distinction. Religions have a spectrum of practices. You are such a beauty too, and your videos are lovely. Dr. Y, NYC
