  • Low oil pressure warning? After checking you actually have oil in the engine, you may want to look into this sensor. Fairly common issue on the Saab B284 2.8L Turbo V6 engine. I hope you like buttered biscuits.

    Nice vid. FYI, did this job Saturday, and you don't need to remove the front fascia. Just the input pipe to the turbo & throttle & bottom splash skirt. Put the car on ramps or jack stands, and remove the SAI (secondary air injection) pump ; it's held on by two T40 bolts + snap connectors in/out/power. Removing this will let you remove the vertical pipe from the intercooler to the throttle (they didn't in the video). This gives much better access to the oil pressure sensor. Note I had to bend the aluminum AC lines slightly to fit the 1 1/16' socket in there. // Total job took 5 hours, much of which was getting the three E10 torx bolts on the vert pipe back in their holes. HTH. Cramped engine bay! As for the buttered biscuits, yes please.

    Just did this on mine. Wasn't all that bad actually, didn't have to move the rad or mess around with the front end, just a choice selection of tools and contortionism and all I had to do was move that boost pipe in front the engine across a little after getting the bolts from above and below

    Just replaced the sensor on my car today took me an hour. I don't have to removed a lot of things as this video shows. I just removed the airbox pipe, intake to IC pipe and just moved the remaining one aside. It's tight but doable. Slim arms helps a lot. I just use a regular 27mm deep socket but I did have to pull up AC line a little for the socket to go straight to the sensor. Just be careful not to pull on it hard as it could break the line. This video gives me idea. Fix my low oil pressure warning on high rpm/ WOT. Oil sips on the connector side so old sensor is leaking specially when oil pressure is high, it is just a matter of time before it will eventually totally fail. Thanks for the video.

      I think it's a standardized GM part. That one was picked up at AutoZone, just a parts chain in the US. Esaabparts.com maybe also at least get you a part number to work with. They also ship internationally.

    helpful video. I was able to get in there by just pulling the turbo downpipeand inlet pipe from the AMM. I moved the IC up pipe to the side and bent the bracket on the engine out of the way and bungied it to keep it there. a oil sender socket like this one www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002SR27Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 its only 2 7/8 long and has flat edges to help remove it. 1.5 hrs all in and it was really tight, I had to put and extension on my ratchet to break it loose

    Are there any torque specs for the new sensor? Just curious if its just hand tight or ....?

    • @KenCarTechMeow

      There likely is a torque spec. I'd ASSUME it's low, like 20 ftlbs. Download WIS (saab workshop information system, google it) and double check.

    My oil pressure light on my 06 comes on occasionally.
    Car seems to be running fine & the oil levels are fine.
    Guess mine is a sensor.
    Aside from the pain in the butt message, is there any real danger in driving the car for awhile?

    • @KenCarTechMeow
      @KenCarTechMeow  3 роки тому

      Zero danger if it is the sensor. If. The scary thing is that if you actually are losing oil pressure that could be catastrophic to your engine. I don't really go over testing oil pressure and hooking up a tester at that port in this video though.

    • @MsLincos
      @MsLincos Рік тому

      I guess it's the sensor. Hook up a scan-tool and read the oil pressure. If it's 0 or 6 BAR constantly the sensor needs te be replaced. Don't drive with a faulty sensor.
