Since the beginning of this "lockdown" here in Switzerland, I've been shadowboxing for a few minutes every day (at least 3m). Right now I'm at 481 minutes total.
I totally agree with you, *high volume is the key* and I noticed a big increase in my punching technique, my speed AND my footwork. Overall I feel more "confident" in my striking.
But I think the biggest benefit of doing it everyday is that I started enjoying shadowboxing more. It's really fun, almost like dancing. I can't wait to spar again to see how/if my improvements will make a difference.
As always, thanks for this really interesting/informative video !

Exactly, it looks easy but it is hard drill to get fast punches with good technique. You have to find the key, how to explode from foot - hips in to the fast punch, but you can not overrotate because you lost speed, between punches. I love to train fast punches with pushups. I do this workout, but i do it like this :
fast combine punches fast and hard 2 straight left and 2 straight right(50 punches) then - 10 pushups i do that 12 times, i try to do it with slow breaks. I always try to have my arms up like in sparring - so my shoulders were burning!(but that is exactly what i want).
It is realy a great training for your whole body - if your punches are with good technique. I also eat protein after every the training. :)
I dont know why but my, back and shoulders and trapezoid muscle are much bigger, i can see that my muscles are different from muscles that have bodybuilders. I dont know if it is possible to have different looking muscles doing boxing, but maybe i am wrong.
Now after 2 months of hometraining i can not wait untill i can hit heavy bag in our box club or in some gym. I will be like a bull torn from the chain!
Soon in our country will be gyms open i hope.
      I wish everyone good healt.
      Defeat corona together!
In some time ago i write you one also big message in some of your video i was thanking you so much - how, you help me to get back in to my life. Therebefore like 4 years a go i was fat 123 kg man. You help me to get my motivation back. Then i join our box club. Thank you. When i start before 4 years i can not do 3 - 4 pushups... :DD

Something that has helped me with technique part for handspeed is visualizing my punches as whipping them. Still you need cardio to keep it up which comes with training.

I like what you're saying in this video. A good comparison is like....how does a sprinter get faster? By working on running technique and actually running sprints. Of course there's strength and conditioning exercises to mix in which helps but ultimately I think it really does come down to throwing punches with the intent of focusing on hand speed in training. (on a side note, I own the 9 inch version of that Rival water bag you used at the end....and I bought it after watching a review video you did for that bag a few years back)

I notice a lot of boxers have fast hands but they don’t retain there hand speed between rounds besides at a really high level. And handspeed is more genetics than it is training sadly. Not that training doesn’t help but everybody isn’t going to be that fast. Just like everybody isn’t going to be the hardest hitters. Endurance and ring iq are better than handspeed in my opinion. Also I only feel like I’ve gotten faster from training shadow boxing and learning how to breath and be relaxed. Adding flexibility helped me out a lot as well. And love this style of video man been watching your stuff since I first started. You and Coach Anthony are two of the best on UA-cam

That why precision beat power and timing beat speed. You can have the fastest hands in the world. But what if your opponent is moving? That why footwork and timing your punch is more important than having faster punching, since it more realistic.
