    I just picked up a 2012 RSV4 with a Werkes exhaust and I absolutely love it, almost as much as my R1.

    I have a 2014 RSV4 Factory and I painted the wheels red. It can be tricky powder coating sports bike wheels, especially if they're forged. The powder coaters oven runs around 500 degrees. If they do not accurately control the oven's temperature, you could get into a temperature range that will 'anneal' the wheel and metallurgically damage it. Possibly resulting in failure. The RR's wheels are cast, so it's less susceptible to potential damage, but it's worth a google. Nice bike! Love mine

    In regards to gearing... A buddy of mine wanted to go up 2t on the rear of his '14 RSV4 and I had just changed the chain and gearing on the rear sprocket on my Shiver. I ended up giving him my stock 44t rear and he said the change was exactly what he needed.
    The great thing about Aprilia is the parts interchangeability is fantastic. Until very, very recently, their mid-to-high output bikes have tended to share any parts that aren't performance specific, like chains, sprockets, cush drive, rotors, etc... I put a set of Tuono V4R forks with Brembo calipers on the front of my Shiver and it all bolted right up, aside now having to take the fender off to put it on a headlift stand since the front end is a bit shorter. Does give faster turn in, though.

    I'm starting to like that sound
    My first bike was ban 84 interceptor 750 with a wolf header and kerker exhaust, it sounded like a CR 500, lots of tickets on that bike!!!!!

      Cool beans bro... I had an interceptor 750.
      Crashed in '85, 6.5weeks coma... some idiot's U-turn stopped my bike, I kept going.
      Old news! New news: life starts at 150!

      Two years of ownership, and I still have a work of art. Nothing needs upgrading but gonna do exhaust cuz warranty is over... Ha Ha... Italian warranty?🤔😂🤣 But really they did fix stuff, like my horn needed connecting.
      I💌my RSV4 RF.
      Been to Autobahn CC raceway for labor day weekend for two years. Damn this is life!
      Grattan raceway 1 lap sub 1:50. Not bad for a 57 year old... See:

    Great vid man....Just bought a 2013 RSV4 Factory myself, and am looking to replace the cheesy looking Leo Vince pipe it currently has, with a CW pipe as well....Been looking for full length ride vids that really show what the pipe sounds like under "real world" riding conditions...A big plus was that you're running the db killer.....I wanted to hear what it sounds like with that installed, as that's probably how I'll run mine most of the time. Keep up the good work! ;)

    I like all the reasons you love the bike for, especially the sound and the frame, but the quality control and maintenance can be painful compared to a Kawi, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha. My friend had an Aprilia about 6 years ago, and after 4 years had endless problems. He decided to get rid of it. I hope you have better luck with long term ownership.

    MP, all your additions are so tasteful. I don't know much about Aprilia bikes in general. Italian made right? Is this a rival bike to an R1-M? H2? What advantages does it have vs a Japanese made SS? Your gear is smooth too. Does the new helmet have led's? (very cool looking at night.) Thanks for educating me. Btw, I don't ride anymore, but I get the whole V4 unexplainable power thing. (My one and only bike was an off the floor V65 Sabre.) ☮️

    • @MOTOPILOT6

    Looks great. I agree about the gearing. I changed mine to a 15 tooth sprocket and it made things just like you want. Wheelies a little easier too.

    • @davidpalmer7952
      @davidpalmer7952 7 років тому

      What gear are you wheeling in buddy?

    • @Davidatlw
      @Davidatlw 7 років тому

      2013 RSV4 Factory. It was a real pain to get around in any traffic. Changing the 16 T counter sprocket to a 15 T changed it enough to make things good. It won't do 180 with that gear but you'll like it.

    • @Davidatlw
      @Davidatlw 7 років тому

      Also, I installe a full akrapovic exhaust and opened up the race map. That made things much smoother....better.

    Just discovered ur channel! Its awesome! 2 Thumbs up on ur bike. Looks great n sounds great. I had a Ducati Monster M900 with full Termignoni Pipes, that thing woke the dead! This bike sounds like a T-Rex. Its my next bike for sure. Also i like ur riding style, similar to mine, quick burst here n there when its clear ahead, im not great at corners but i guess thats why i aint fallen yet in 13 years of riding. Also free revving the bike between gears just to hear it! Btw the Ducati monster M900 drinks gas like a Fish... i ran out of gas 3 times. Theres nongauge so im knocking on the side of the tank n looking into the gas tank before every ride. Nice vid keep it safe and keep em videos coming. P.S up a few teeth in the back would be great!!!

    • @MOTOPILOT6
      @MOTOPILOT6  7 років тому

      Hi Krish and welcome to my world. Funny you notice my free-revs between gears. Old habit I just noticed I do recently. For starters Im just going to drop one tooth on the front and see how that goes since I do a lot of freeway boring miles. Then maybe jump one tooth on the rear. The RSV4 does have a gas light but no gauge. My Suzuki 1000 gets 42mpg...the RSV4 only 31.
      Had a low fuel scare coming to work this morning actually. Whew! MP

    Hey Moto Pilot...know that road well....used to go around Lake Matthews all the time down to the 15 long before there was much population that there is now.
    I live on the east coast now but took my RF around Palomar and 74 In Palm Desert last year....sure beats the days of the 84 Ninja and FJ11OOs...my 96 gixxer 750 was fairly sweet though but cannot compare w/ the modern stuff like our Aprilias....
    if I make it out there again w/my RF I will try and give you a Shout out...nice customization by the way....Now you need to upgrade the suspension.!!!!
    if interested, I could sell you my RF rear as I upgraded to keep up w/the 17 model.

    What is the proper break in for a 2016 RSV4 rr? I'm picking one up with less than 100 miles on it. Are there any factory restrictions like the s1000rr that dealer assistance is a must? I'm not a big fan of dealerships working on my vehicles.

      Ruano09 1st breakin is under 6000rpm for 600 miles. then first oil change. 2nd brewkin is stay under 9000 for 1200 0r 1600 miles. i forget. sounds like you got a steal of a deal

      MOTO PILOT I use the Hero 4 black and thieye t5. Good thing about this setup is it doesn't matter what camera your using as the zoom does all the audio and it's always going to be better than what comes from the cameras.

    Did you have any ECU work done to the bike to accommodate the exhaust system? I have a '17 RF and was told in order to put an aftermarket exhaust on it I needed the race ECU or it would throw codes.

    • @MOTOPILOT6
      @MOTOPILOT6  6 років тому

      luvs2race370 I had the slip on for weeks with no codes. But now I have the race ECU

      Yeah. I just installed my Yoshi Alpha Titanium a few days ago and it gave me an engine light after the first few miles. Maybe they changed something between '16 and '17. I have the race ECU also, but can't get it installed for a few weeks. What did you do with the exhaust valve servo? Mines just tied up for now. Going to remove it completely soon.

    This Trex sliders are junk. My bike fell over and the next day I notice the puck was upside down. Well, just from falling over the bolt snapped and left the threads inside my engine mount. Not fun to say the least.

    Hey bro did you have to get it remapped? I've read in forums that due to the ride by wire system, if you put an aftermarket exhaust there's a lean spot unless you get a race ecu or a remap

    • @MOTOPILOT6
      @MOTOPILOT6  4 роки тому

      Race ECU. Though Competition Werkes claimed it didn't need mapping

      Thanks man! I'm still keeping my dream alive of owning one of them beauties and looking at the '16 model specifically (love the old school tach/speedo). Love your VFR project man, got one myself. Keep making them awesome vlogs brother!

    any concerns about motor longevity on the bike? The service intervals are short, and pricey! Yikes. I love me the RS4 for sure, though.

      The service is 10000km. Not short

    • @HypnoticPattern
      @HypnoticPattern 7 років тому +1

      vvsousa for EU most definitely, but for the US and where MP lives, quite short. I put 15,000 mi (24k km) in just 7 months of riding this year and I was staying right by MP, and later in Northern California. Distances here are quite large to get anywhere compared to europe or even other places in the US. Still worth it since the RSV4 is amazing, but V4 engine valve checks and adjustments are very time consuming especially if you like to do it yourself.

    • @MOTOPILOT6
      @MOTOPILOT6  7 років тому +1

      First basic service was 600 miles. 2nd service with valve check is 12,000 miles (19,312 km). I think the price of that will scare me. MP
