    I will agree that the aprilia community is amazing and one of the top allures of the bike : there has to be something right about a motorcycle that has a community filled with such legends who are helpful, excited and don't have a chip on their shoulder.

    Couldn’t agree with you more. I have the 2017 RF and I can’t stop gazing at it when I open and close the garage door...lol.
    When you ride, the bike makes you feel like a rock star.
    Keep the videos up, they’re great!

      Hey Chef Dai. Cool that you ride an RF. And congrats on almost reaching 100,000 subs.

      MOTO PILOT thanks a lot. I’m sure you’ll have a million subs in no time at all, your content is really amongst the best on you tube.
      Shame we can’t ride our RSV4’s together, just an issue of a large pond between us.
      Good luck with your channel!!

      Well I bust my butt and try to bring better content than the stable of vloggers out there. But youtube sure makes you work for it, man. Totally appreciate the awesome feedback. You obviously have touched on something with your youtube audience. I watched some of your stuff. Very clean, well made.

    That was well done, thanks.
    I pulled the trigger last year and got the RSV4 RF LE#14. 1st LE sold in '18.
    I cannot rave enuff! This combination of parts makes a machine that makes me into a better, more confident, rider than I ever dreamed... yet could kill me in slightly miscalculated wrist twist...
    I honor her, I respect her...
    and that's love in my book.

    Agree completely. I absolutely love mine, it's such a fantastic bike. I've ridden the new R1 and BMW S1000RR, and I prefer the Aprilia. They are all great bikes, but the Aprilia has that exotica feel, the lusty V4, pure Italian sexiness

    I have Evans waterless coolant in mine and it dropped engine temps drastically. Was a task, but I enjoy it even more. Honestly coming from a 2009 R1 the heat didn't bother me. That bike lit my ass on fire and cooked your right leg. Now just the engine heat sitting at a light on your right hand is a bother, but just go into N and sit back and its all good. I love it and honestly is the most enjoyable bike I have ever ridden.

    Great review!!! I've had my 2016 RSV4 RF for about a year and a half now and absolutely love it. The sound..............epic. The design.............epic. The performance................epic. I've owned bikes since 1986.......everything.......GSXR, CBR, Ducati, ZX7...on and on........this bike is the best by a long shot.

    You really shouldn't compare the rsv4 dry weight to wet weights and say the rsv4 is significantly lighter.

    Your (relatively) short video gave me the best, true impression of this bike that I've ever heard.
    Gonna jump on my GL1800 and head to to the Ape dealer and kick some tires, but probably a Tuono for commuter duty.

  • @AmosSpurgeon
    @AmosSpurgeon 6 років тому +1

    @motopilot I agree with EVERYTHING you’ve said here, as usual.
    One thing I’m glad you mentioned, although there isn’t really a “fix”, is the engine heat.
    So my bike heats up FAST. In “traffic” and red-light driving she runs around 220s. Now I don’t necessarily have a problem with the heat off the engine, I mean, as a Soldier I’ve made my living in lands that just stay 120s for no reason... but that’s another story.
    So I took the RSV4 on a “Toy Run” here in town. 3,000 bikes showed. I had to “quit” half way through because the bike jumped up into the 230s ... and the slow, clutch heavy 1st gear type parade run was TOO much for my guy. I had to sit for 30min in the side of the road until she cooled enough to start back up and then take the interstate to the end / meeting point and pump some air through her.
    I went back to the dealer (I used my discount and ordered some CRG Shorty Black/red brake and clutch levers, and the T-Rex frame sliders) and talked to their lead mech (he has the 2016 RSV4 RF). Sadly, because it wasn’t really a “fix”, he told me that getting that hot is normal. He explained to me this is a high performing RACE bike, and it isn’t designed to just put around lol. He actually said don’t even let it idle. When you shut it off, shut it off, don’t let it run or anything. Of course I’m still riding mine DAILY, but he told me to use caution and again reminded me: it’s built for racing, not groceries. So it’s gonna get too hot if you aren’t pumping air through it.
    Just thought I’d share! Thanks for the amazing video!

    I love my 2016 RSV4 RF. Dream bike no doubt. I always get asked what it is, not many know what it is. The ones that do always say they're jealous and how cool it is those people know what it is about. Very rare bikes I'm lucky to have a big dealer 15 minutes away for parts and maintenance makes it easier but I have had no problems. I still love my CBR600RR but I would rather ride my RF. It's not the lightest but it has tons of power and power all over the rev range as well as it truthfully is just as nimble in the twisties as my CBR600RR and they're very flickable. Seat height is a little taller than a 600 but parked next to my 600RR it looks almost the same size but its a litre bike lol. fucking crazy.

    I have a 2016 RSV4 RF, which I got in August 2015. Made some changes, but the one I highly recommend to you is the Brembo master cylinder. Unbelievably nice progressive feel on the already excellent brakes. I put on the matching (for looks) clutch lever as well. It'll be the best thing you do to this bike, trust me.

    MP - Update....went to AF1 Racing in Austin this weekend. They had just sold the RSV4 RF demo so I wound up riding the Tuono Factory bike. Holy $@#t man. I think I may go that route as the 2017 Tuono has a nice pillion seat and the wife is with me more than not and the pax seat on the RSV4 is a joke. They did say they could easily take the subframe off the Tuono and mount it to the RSV4 so that she'd have a real seat to sit on but I think the Tuono is just fine for me. The demo had a Yosh slip on and the sound was amazing. Considering the price for a full exhaust, I think that'll be more than fine. Everyone turned their head and what you describe is on point in regards to how you feel riding down the street. They're offering great pricing on remaining 2017's as well so this is a great time to buy. We just have to figure out what bike or bikes we currently own that we want to trade in to get it. I'm so stoked!

    That bike is indeed a unique looking bike. Really like the looks and sound of it. I owned a 636 but still rsv4 is my dream bike aside from zx10r. Not to mention I'm a kawasaki bike fan but that v4 sound pretty amazing.

  • @MegaTechpc
    @MegaTechpc 5 років тому

    One thing I was surprised by with this bike when I rode it today was how tall the seat is. I’m 6’2” and I was barely able to flat foot the bike at a stop. That’s the first time that’s ever happened to me on a sport bike. Still, I found The bike to be pretty comfortable for what it is and the performance is just mind-boggling. Granted my current bike is a 2013 ZX6R but I can’t imagine there are many other bikes that are faster than this thing.

  • @BizAutomation
    @BizAutomation 6 років тому +3

    I'm an Aprilia fanboy but your comparison of weight is way off "Because of the V4, etc.." was your comment. You were comparing the RSV4 dry weight to the R1 wet weight. Not a fair comparison. It's actually heavier than the R1 (458 wet vs 443). Just want to keep things honest here.

  • @jpolhamus71
    @jpolhamus71 6 років тому +6

    391lbs dry weight 448 lbs wet weight

    • @ChrisJohn_444
      @ChrisJohn_444 6 років тому +3

      jpolhamus71 All reviews say it's over 460lbs, tbh. One review weighed it (actually scaled it) at 478lbs in stock form. But, ya, he's really wrong on that point. It's actually the heaviest litre supersport next to the S1000RR.

    • @racerx6384
      @racerx6384 6 років тому +2

      Ya all literbike shootouts has this as the heaviest bike. Although it doesnt handle like the heaviest. The v-4 configuration and chassis givea it some of the fastest edge to edge transitions. But he is completely off with the weight. Think if youre not counting a superleggera the cbr 1000r has always been the lightest sportbike.

    • @ChrisJohn_444
      @ChrisJohn_444 6 років тому

      Racer X True. I had a 2013 RSV4 and you could only really notice the extra weight at traffic lights and in a garage/parking lot. And, of the litre bikes, the cbr is second only to the 1299, which Honda achieved, in part, by reducing fuel capacity by a litre. In standard form, the 1299 is still the lightest by more than 10lbs. The superleggera is lighter still, but with its price tag, it's in a different class, imo.

    I have a 2012, love it. Wish I never bought it. Parts take FOREVER to come in, I’m talking I haven’t been able to ride in 8MONTHS!! Because of a timing chain tensioner. Also be prepared to pay roughly $1500 every 12k miles for valve adjustments. Places that work on them are few and far between. And as expensive as can be. A valve adjustment on a Japanese bike is 300-600. Aprilia is 1200-1500… insurance is outrageous. And pretty much anything that isn’t bolt on that has to be worked on has to go to a shop because it requires special tools… that are priced outrageously. It’s the most fun bike I’ve ever owned, best looking and by far the best sounding, videos will never do it justice, nothing on the world sounds like these things. if you’re thinking about getting one I hope your pockets are deeper than mine.

    @Moto Pilot this was a fanboy review. You never talked about maintenance or services (how often and prices) you never talked about recalls, factory defects or check engine lights. I'm considering of buying one but I know european bikes can be a little finicky and I would love to know things like this before I buy one. It would be nice if you did a "long term review" of the bike addressing this things.
    Other than that keep up the good work, love the look and sound of your bike!

      I just recently bought the new 2017 gsx-r1000 abs, and have only put about 2300 miles on it in the last 5 months. The bikes great and I’ve had zero issues or visits to the shop, other than getting first service and minor recall for fuel filter gasket done. But the other day I saw a used 2016 rsv4 RF, with tones of mods, including full carbon fiber wheels, a full race exhaust system. The previous owner put A LOT of money into this bike. But my issue is it shows that it’s been rode hard, I mean the tires are still shedding rubber shaving from his last track day lol. The bikes got 23,450 miles on it (for being a 2-3 year old track bike that’s a lot of freaken miles) and it’s no longer under warranty. But the price is low, the dealer consigning it has it listed for $9,799. So my question is this, how reliable are these bikes, and is it worth trading my almost new gsxr1000 in for an rsv4 RF with 23k miles on it. I line in Orange County so I’m within 20 miles of an aprilia dealer. Sorry for the long posting in advance.

    Not sure how many changes if any were made from the 2015 model to the 2016 model, but I looked at a 2015 model today and that bike weighed more than my 2006 GSXR 1000. It was nowhere close to being as comfortable as my GSXR is either but even after complaing about the riding position, weight, and cost ($11,300 with 4,400 miles on it) I still want the damn thing😕 Going back up there on Tuesday to negotiate.

    What about comfort? I had a GSXR before it was incredibly easy to ride for long distances. I use to ride to work 1 hour 40 mins one way and then back. Is the Rsv4 tough on the back legs wrists or is it comfortable like the suzukhi gsxr
