      Lamb Chop Rides is this your next bike then? Road it around Silverstone Stowe and found it really uncomfortable, much prefer the Tuono. I'm sure the RSV4 is an absolute weapon in the right hands though, but doesn't work as a road bike for me.

    Aprilia is very constant, my 18 RSV4 RR with just a Slip-on made 184, after OFT Tune it made 200 even to the wheel on a DynoJet similar to JSH's. I also have a 2020 GSXR 1000. That made 192 peaks but between 4k to 12K it made more TQ. At one point between Aprilia VS GSXR, the GSXR made 23 WHP at roughly 7 to 8K.

    Aprilia only claim 201 @ the crank, so if you subtract 12% =~24 hp, you get 176 @ rw- that of course being said, if you throw an exhaust system, a tune, a filter, and smog plates, you're gonna be getting north of 190 rwhp, and if you really have money for power, that's when you start asking mod shops if they can install pneumatic valves on your engine to add another 20-ish brake horsepower.
    If I had the money right now I would run out and buy all of it this instant, so in my humble opinion, this bike just comes down to money for me.

      Simon Konetsky it was the Stowe circuit so the Tuono was better suited, however, it felt like an absolute rocket and I was barely tapping into the potential. Around the GP circuit it will come alive I'm sure. Enjoy!

      Cheers Jim, I was tempted by the Tuono but am still a sports bike bloke really - I won't have time to do the 600m run in & service so will probably take my track bike .... shame but I'll get it on track somewhere before the end of June for sure. I traded my 2013 APRC in for it, right now am waiting for the call it's ready to collect :-)

      Yes, Bmw is cool, i mean that older HP4 are very nice, but that new normal no, sorry i dont like, that is best normal bike, i mean it has all, but it miss character.
      That new Ducati superleggera is mint, those details. Also that 2017 Bmw HP4 in cool, i mean those carbon pits and pops, but it is not road legal..

    As some bikes don't produce their peak power until they have completed several thousand miles, how do you allow for the post initial-run-in (i.e 500/600 miles +) differences? What I'm saying is that although it's a scientific test based on using the same dyno, the way the bike has been broken in (initial 500/600 miles and then first few thousand) can itself be the difference of ITRO 10-20 bhp on a modern litre bike I've read: the difference between an engine that is properly/fully run-in and one that is still 'tight' even after the initial run-in.

    • @thetriplex9365
      @thetriplex9365 7 років тому +2

      That thing about the tightness is total bullshit IMO. Just a lame argument salesmen make when their vehicle doesn't get the MPG you want during a test or isn't as fast as you'd expect it to be...
      These bikes are broken in hard in the factory. The break in phase is manufacturers covering their ass and customers expecting it to be there.
      Watch BMW make the S1000RR and giving it the beans on a dyno in the factory. Those guys aren't nannying it...

    • @TheJmebe
      @TheJmebe 7 років тому

      TheTripleX yeah probably true, but a dyno test would put it to bed

    • @thetriplex9365
      @thetriplex9365 7 років тому

      Jme Be you can probably look at this UA-cam account and find plenty of tests post "break in"

    • @spoonman73
      @spoonman73 7 років тому

      Technically I would think a "tight" engine, as in one who's rings have properly seated, would be better than a "loose" engine. I don't think that is a good way to describe it.

    • @TheJmebe
      @TheJmebe 7 років тому

      spoonman73 the people I know, would use tight to describe an engine that isn't properly / fully broken in. I think the saying comes from things like valve clearances - it is worse to have these slightly tight than loose. 'Loose' is generally considered better than 'tight' wrt engines. I know what you mean though - if an engine is loose to the point that there is excessive blow-by for example, performance will be impacted.

      My 2016 woke up and is monstrous with the race ECU and a Graves system. With stock gearing, I have to fight wheelies and power slides all the time - needs more suspension setup (I was testing for that reason). Exactly what you want for a competitive race bike.

      They don't generally drop valves. Racing is a crapshoot with *any* bike. Wanna compare with Honda? My 2016 RSV4 has already done as many track days as the motor lasted in my friend's last CBR 1000RR.

    • @blue03r6

      just friendly ribbing. there has been several R1s blow up engines by dropping valves. some spun rod bearings and a few 15's blew up transmissions. mine's been solid thankfully and I had it on the track before it's first 600 miles. anytime you make something in mass numbers there's bound to be problems arise

    As I said in my last comment on the Suzuki run, this is not surprising. Rsv4 eeks out a couple more ponys over the s1k. However torque is important too and the s1k is king in that respect.
    One thing is for sure, the Suzuki motor is hype. 😉

    • @thatboysims3k879
      @thatboysims3k879 7 років тому

      MrJayjay0420 I can understand what you're saying about the Suzuki motor, but from what I've heard & seen its down to the standard can on it. Sucks you gotta pay extra to get closer to the engine numbers you originally paid for, but an alternative pipe helps the engine alot

      Simeon Okonta-Wariso It's all relative ... The 17 s1k is down 10hp do to euro 4 restrictions. it's a level playing field. That Suzuki motor is hype.

    • @tommywreck
      @tommywreck 7 років тому

      67claudius this is true - I test rode an Aprila last week. However, it doesn't pull like my S1000rr and the build quality is nowhere close to BMW's. A good bike yes, but by no means the best out there if we are considering warranty, power, comfort, distribution centers, repair costs, repair parts - the list goes on.

    • @67claudius
      @67claudius 7 років тому

      tommywreck The Aprilia Tuono build quality is at the highest levels and has nothing to envy to S1000rr, probably the opposite The only thing I agree with is the Aprilia dealer network that is certainly less widespread than BMW.

    • @sk2283
      @sk2283 7 років тому

      Sorry Tommy but build quality is not a BMW s1000rr 's strong point ! just ask any owner - including my brother who has a new 2016 model - try working on one and see how poor the overall quality is !! Aprilia Dealer network is not so plentiful but parts and service are quick and reasonable - they both have + & - points but the BMW is no better on build quality I can assure you :-)
