Just a follow up, I picked up my brand new RSV4 RF on Friday, August 5th, 2016, from Blackfoot Motorsports in Calgary, AB. The bike is simply unreal. There are so many things that this video does not address. The styling, the way the gas tank is formed, the way the tail section is formed, the red metallic paint on the wheels (you have to be in person and in the sun to believe what they've done there), and the sound..........ooooooooh..........the sound is insane. The seat is incredible as well. I find the R1M boring. It doesn't have any of the Italian style and flare. The fit and finish on the RSV4 RF is stunning. It blows away the two Ducatis I've owned. As far as sound goes, the RSV4 RF is the best sounding bike I've ever heard, with a stock exhaust. The fueling is spot on, the brakes are spot on, it's just brilliant. When I walk out to my garage, I'm glad I don't see an R1M sitting there..................................................
also just want to add as some aggro comments below.. BOTH of these bikes are the VERY BEST of 2015 and no-one who owns either should be regretting their purchase choice. They are both sublime machines, hence why they are the 2 we picked as our favs. Personally, I felt that the R1 edged it but both are seriously rapid and sexual things :)
+Neel Beke Apart from Aprilla costs 4 grands more :) and all parts you'll be buying will cost compare to R1 parts, ;) my choice is R1 and not because I've raced a lot on R6 it is just a best bike at the market for both Racing and Road riding.
Themayseffect they've only just started using HD LOL, neevesy is okay but because they're a newspaper they can't do any of the dickfuckery that 44t get up to.
your whole argument that the R1M is a better bike is based on the fact the the bike has slide control and when exiting a corner the throttle can be whacked, a black line left and more accelaration being the benefit of this.. Have you tried playing with the settings on the RSV4-RF.. since 2010 all RSV4's have had Slide Control incorporated within there Traction Control or ATC System. 6 adjustable modes of TC which incorporates Slide Control.. You mention that the Rsv4-RF has better braking, corner entry and a better centre of gravity allowing for better control in the corners... i am sure that if you learn to take advantage of the full capabilities of the ATC system which includes slide control.. opinions may change... but if not.. hey each to there own.
+aaron wyner the r1 has two separate modes for tc and slide control as they are two different things. get that in your fucking dumb heads. the Aprilia can not hold a slide, end of fucking story.
+aaron wyner Its part of the decision (not argument), that and the power, the look, the feel, the speed, the quick shifter, the ability to adjust suspension without screw drivers, the data logger, the dash, the ali tank - and the fact that this is a massive step forward in terms of motorcycle development. The RF is fantastic as we said, but the R1 is the better bike in my humble opinion. Have you ridden both back to back on a race track? The RSV4 does not have slide control - it has traction control. Its different technology and any new track focused bike without it will suffer against it. Cheers :)
I watched both the track & street reviews. I want to appreciate the thorough job you guys did, but also that you both recognize that these two bikes have their own strengths and I felt like it was discussed at length and detail to help inform many riders! Kudos from the states!
Both great bikes, but remember folks, it doesn't matter what's the best, it's WHAT you like, unless you're some knob who has to have the best, but no doubt can't ride it like it's meant to be ridden
Lamb Chop Rides i would like to see that as i have the new tuono but am trying to decide on a street bike and you can’t test ride Japanese super sports in New Jersey New York dealers in the US
Right on guys! I am one of those "electronics are shite blah blah man up and learn some skill" type guys but as you said, for track use you want to exploit everything you possibly can and the R1 is bloody amazing! This stuff will only trickle down become standard on other bikes but for now lets champion the amazing piece of engineering that it is. However, Ill take the Aprilia all day every day! You lot may not think its slow but its fast enough for me and it is a beautiful piece of design. Keep it up with the honest reviews and the not so polished delivery. I love what you guys are doing! Keep it up!
+gnarshread It is not slow. I've raced my RF against an 1199S, a K1300GT (yah well it happened) and a MV F4. So far, it's 3 for 3 and other than the MV, it eclipsed the other bike. Once you let a F4 get over 11,000 rpm it'll hang on for a while, the gearing and that top-end oriented motor are still hardcore. The funny thing is I did all those races before the bike was broken in (it barely is now) and so I didn't rev it over about 12,000... the RF will make power to about 13,000 and with the race ECU it peaks at 13,800. These guys don't know it yet but the RF with a full system and race ECU is a whole other beast again than the one they tested, there's 20whp in that setup and the traction control is race-ready.
I have owned many sport bikes over the years. Many from Japan (CBR, ZX-7, GSX-R) and two Ducatis (900SS/999). I can honestly say that, with the Japanese bikes, I had to be riding them like a complete lunatic to have fun. Otherwise, they were what I like to think of as a "disposable" razor. Use it up, and get another one. With the two Ducatis I owned, I never felt that way. Whether it was just looking at them in the garage, washing them, cruising on them, parking them up and answering questions about them, the ownership experience was vastly better than the Japanese bikes. They were "special". That is the one thing missing in these reviews. Yes, you can leave a big patch of rubber on the tarmac with the R1M, but am I ever going to do that? No. I am going to drive my bike on the street, up to Whistler, to grab a coffee, etc. Which bike would I prefer to look at in my garage, wash, cruise on? Which bike is "special"? I have to say the Aprilia.
Great review chaps !! I got my RF two weeks ago no chance of running it in b4 winter but just starting it in the garage gives me a buzz !! Roll on Spring !! Keep up the good work brilliant !!
Awesome! I rode the R1M afew weeks ago, what a monster!! Felt exactly like my R6 but with 80 more horsepower, definitely on the list of potentials for a second bike
People who say they want to turn the electronics off simply haven't ridden a bike with good electronics. The modern electronics are that good I just have no idea why you would want to disable them, besides wheelie control :) I also know what you mean about leaving a huge line on the R1 while smoking anyone out of a corner, I was the guy getting smoked on my old ZX6R, dived under brakes, watched him round me up on the way out leaving a huge black line, was impressive lol.
+650ib RSV4 R-FW I would have both if I could honestly. Nothing sounds like an RSV4 it's just too sex. Honestly though my PERFECT garage would probably be an RSV4 RR and Street Triple R. But I'm just sitting here with my first bike (2015 Ninja 300 SE) put on 6,000 miles in four months. Got to ride by a bunch of amazing bikes out of my price range including an R1M, two other R1's, Panigale's, an HP4. In terms of speed a GSXR still seems solid with everyone's riding skills. That being said I'm in love with the Daytona and Street Triple. If I were ever in a situation where I could acquire both I probably would. Yet I need something that has a rumble that's why I'm seriously debating another Twin or what not. I think a 300 to an RSV4 would probably be a BAD move. Even with a lot of dirt bike experience.. My little 300 is very forgiving and lets just say if I was still on a 600 (has a gsxr for two weeks awhile ago) I probably would have binned it. The 300 twitches etc and is like 'Hey, Hey you. Yea I'm talking to you buddy. What you just did there was bad. Don't do it.' Yet it's so light and fun in the twisties. I love riding it in the rain to. Had the bike sliding like a WSBK bike going into a round a bout like a month ago. Not going to lie it was a little scary having the front shimmy from left to right and the rear! Yet at that exact moment I was like Haha (grin on face) I've seen the pro's do this in the wet. (Those stock ninja 300 tires LOL bad in the wet!)
I don't know how I missed this video, love it! I sold my cross plane r1 and couldn't decide between the Aprilia Tuono v4 1100 Factory and the '17 MT10 and it's brilliant cross plane i4 , both sound epic when the cat is removed or full system . Funny thing is jsut your point spot on, I went MT10 BECAUSE I Live in the US and don't have an aprilia dealer working 1,200 miles of me,..and with their track record it scared me,..oh and the factory 1100 was $7,000 us more lol. I never looked back or regretted going MT10 and anyone that buys one, buy the $150 decat Y-pipe and listen to straight up motor GP for $9,000! 😍 Man I love your videos guys ! You guys are the greatest.
What about another test, but this time instead of the 2015 modeks, let's do it with the 2015 or 2016 R1M and the 2016 RSV4 Factory with Aprillia's new 201hp bike? Have you all done a new head to head comparison with the 2016 bike yet? I think the '16 RSV4 will take the show this time
I went from a 2010 R1 (non-"M" version, but as you've said, 99% the same), to a 2016 RSV4 RF. So this video appealed to me a LOT. The electronics on both bike are such a great thing, especially compared to the late 90's-early 2000's sport bikes I've owned previously (CBR900RR, 2001 GSXR-600). You really can't go wrong with either one. As someone who is 5' 11", but very tall in the torso, and short in the legs, both are better than most, but I agree, the RSV4 edges it out in handlebar comfort/position for me. And with my ample ass, the seats on both are still worlds better than the older bikes, too.
.Great review... both track day and road day you were able to add insight and genuine understanding of what each bike brings to the table...Got my RSV4 in Sept 2015 (2016 model) and will be putting a deposit on the RiM as soon as humanly possible... I'll have to decide which one goes to the track and which one stays "shiny and pretty" for the road...
I was sceptical about the electrical 'aids' on bikes until I rode the 2015 s1k. I can't agree more with what you guys are getting at, the bike made me feel like a god. The electric suspension is very tasty on the road also. getting back to the god thing, I currently have an 899 which is hardly a fisher price early leaner in terms of electrical gizmo's but it felt it compared to the s1k. great review chaps.
motorcyklist magazine took these two bikes on a road and track day too. and they drowe 0,1 seconds slower on the track with the rsv4. so is it realy that much slower than the r1? nope.. and you guys are the first i have ever heard that the r1 sounds better than the rsv4.
I agree on your argument regarding electronics on a bike, traction control, ABS, electronic suspension, its all designed to make you go quicker and be safer...what more do you want on a bike?! Some people are just silly, get with the times people, go test ride an s1000rr, a 2015 r1, an rsv4 RF etc. and understand how much better these bikes really are compared to previous generations of everything.
Top video, real in depth. I have a 2017 r1m with full ti system and flash and to be honest I have more fun and can go quicker on my rvf400 with blue printed motor. Just saying. Still love the r1m to bits, and hopefully will become a classic in years to come.
Great Channel guys lovin it... Just an idea and i apologise in advance if youve done this already... Maybe you should do a real world track test of say an R1M with a seasoned trackday rider on board, meaning (the guys that buy these 20K bikes for trackdays with no race experience) against a sorted GSXR1000K6 with a real rider on board. No bells no whistles too see how far the electronics package of modern kit compliments rider skill level.
It's like buying a Lamborghini Superleggera, or an Audi R8 GT, or a Porsche 911S turbo and expecting to thoroughly enjoy yourself driving within the legal limits. I'd rather have a character rich smaller motorcycle that I can flog without breaking every law on earth and have a romping great time.
m109rocket I had a 2011 FZ1 with a true 150 rwhp after a full exhaust and ecu tuning. It weighed about 475 pounds. That's about 170 hp at the crank, something that the new FZ-10 isn't yet matching in stock form.
+juicer404 Pretty simple really, the outgoing RSV4 had about 20whp less than the new one and in racing that really is a handicap. It was a great sportbike but only the chassis really made it worthwhile as a race bike, BMW caught the world by surprise in 2010 with a 200hp bike, and Kawasaki followed. The new RSV4 won the WSB SST class handily in 2015, and if you want to know the worth of a bike you are likely to own, look at SuperStock races.
Steve C dude, the rsv4 and zx10r annilated competion in wsb the last few years, apart from the panigale getting its shit togther this year, im not sure what ur point is? rsv4 won it in 2010, 2012,2014
+juicer404 WSB SBK is a racing class with completely non-stock bikes. We're talking bolstered frames (illegal in almost all classes), highly modified engines (illegal in many classes), custom swingarms, custom software, etc. etc. It's a step down from MotoGP mostly because the bikes are production-based, but the bikes are no less prototypical. If you want to see bikes that YOU are likely to be able to buy and ride, look at SuperStock... there, the RSV4 did not do overly well, at least on larger tracks, because of its horsepower deficit to the ZX10R, S1000RR and to a lesser extent, 1199R. The chassis was capable but you can take chances on the brakes and outcorner the rest all you want, when you hit a long straight that bike with 20whp more power is likely to come around you and you'll have to push yourself all over again. And the outgoing RSV4 is not an easy engine to get more power out of. The new bike is a whole other story, it is very competitive, the engine is very flexible, the electronics are revamped and it's bloody fast. So to make my point one more time: don't look at the top level of WSB to judge a production bike. Look at the SST/SuperSTock classes.
Steve C i said why isnt it racing in bsb? as in british SUPER bike i said nothing about super stock, im aware of the power deficit in super stock between the 2
If you were to use these bikes for long highway treks to get to twisty, tight mountain roads with a lot of elevation changes which would you pick? You guys agree that the r1 doesn't come to life below 70 so does that mean the April is is better in the hills? Thanks!
Does this make the 1299 the winner as BVG rated it above the standard R1 in that comparison? :) Would love to see a street bike shoot out KTM vs Aprilia.
Hi guys, nice review, I wonder though where does the LS-218 stand in the superbike waters, nearly no info out there, maybe you could take a peek into the topic? anyway, good luck out there!
Yes, it does. But Kawasaki's needs some time to stabilise, as it is a bit abrupt. But not as abrupt as the R1 is once you try to get it to race speeds. It's been a real problem with shock pump, wheelies and lighting up the rear tire once you put it in racing. You need to spend the money and the time to gain the knowledge of their FT software to program the TC for racing - if you don't, you will work against yourself in a big way. Aprilia's bike is capable right out of the box... it too will pump the rear shock a bit but all the current bikes will, a bit - the R1's will put you on your face, it's a matter of when and not if. You'll also need to upgrade the R1's brakes, whereas the ZX10R and RSV4 have the same brakes... add zome Z04 pads to those and you're ready to race.
How will the r1 slide control put you on your face? Part 1 of this video series has one guy pinning the throttle on corner exit, trusting slide control, and leaving a perfectly controlled skid from the slide. The r1 is the most track focused and track ready bike of the bunch for banging out lap times. Brakes are said to be iffy, but the zx10r brembos are also said to not be great as Kawasaki has messed with them somehow.
I guess you didn't understand what I said. I said that in racing, people are struggling hard with making the TC work properly. In race form, the bike is lighter, there is a lot more tire under it, speeds are a lot higher and throttle use is a lot more "heavy." The bike's systems apparently don't work in that combination without a lot of reprogramming and calibration. BMW's does. Aprilia's does. So, if that's race-ready to you, have at it, hoss. But, chances are pretty certain you'll struggle with wheelspin, wheelies and shock pump - no amount of fanboyism is going to prevent that, it's going to take concerted work with FT-ECU and a lot of knowledge to make the R1 work. The good news is that the tools are available.
But Fagan in your Fast Bikes Sportsbike of the Year '15 article you had the RSV4 RF on top, beating R1M overall (11/10 vs 10/10), on road (9 vs 7) and track (Ape fastest lap), and said it had the sexiest sounding exhaust....
Test the 2017 RF vs R1M,the newfound power of the latest Ape should bridge that power gap, also better brakes electronics and suspension should make it intersting!
Well now... I notice you say the R1 is not good at wheelies. Which is the best current litre sports/naked for wheelies as I’m in the market for a new bike! Please help! 🌪🌪🌪🙃
Soooo which one of you vapes i could see one sitting on the table? i quit smoking and started vaping 6 weeks ago and the agreement was i could get a new bike if i quit and i pick up my 959 Panigale on the 15th :0
I would not buy a bike if I could not turn off rider aids. I'm sure they are great but I just want that option. My current bikes (that I love still Nuda 900R + Aprilia RSVR) don't have that stuff and I don't feel like I'm missing out that much. . .
2 fantastic bikes, my choice would be Aprilia but lack of dealerships is really off putting. BDW; just a small sugestion for the way you guys record stuff. In my opinion it would be better if you would just place the camera somewhere so both of you can be seen chatting. Don't you think ?
I agree with most of your facts, accept the electronics. Accept the electronics, it's like playing forza, yes you can have automatic brakes and race line and have it in automatic, but it's more rewarding having it off, which is why I would turn the electrons off
Too bad Yammie doesnt make the 1M sans carbon fluff for $21-22k with solid color choices (no dallas cowboys silver blue) I think the body work alone has caused people to steer away. The $22k price point w the full electronics is totally doable by them w standard plastics
The most troubling bit in this review was the mention on the R1's wheelie ability. Are you saying it sucks? I look forward to my 2016 R1 60th. I also look forward to a wheelie once and a while. Puts a smile on my face on a dreary day. Love the channel. Cheers from the States.
+tdeloriea Pretty much all the newer bikes with ride-by-wire suck for wheelies. You don't have the throttle control you want to bring one up and keep it there. They also tend to come up more abruptly than you'd like. The V4's fuelling lets you do it much better from my brief experience with a new R1, which fuels like it's taken a hit of meth if you try to do any finesse with it... between TC and RBW it's too numb for it. Additionally, both bikes have a very race-oriented geometry with a long swingarm. TL;DR they both suck for long wheelies.
I rode the standard R1 at the Sausage fest. I have a video on my channel. I found it quite comfortable on the wrist for the whole 30 minutes I rode it. It's felt as if there wasn't much weight on them. I'm 5ft 10. It's very hard to keep a steady throttle when at lower speeds other than that i really liked it.
12 months on and did the R1 live up to the hype, not quite I feel. Still a great/amazing bike but I think you could easily argue the V4 or 1299 are the best in class.
Now the comparison difference is the R1M was brand new and changed some the game with upgraded electronics, carbon and more horsepower and torque The aprilia was on it's 6th year The bikes always come out with game changer and each manufacture does it's best to catch up or leap frog each other
The guy that rides the Aprilia does have a bad hang-off. He isnt parallel to the bike, his head is in the middle of the bike and his back is 10-15cm away from the middle. (Sorry about my english, but im trying my best)
+Flatulent Frank I live in Belgium and my local dealer (Aprilia & Ducati etc) is just a few miles away! It's really not that small of a company I think
Hey guys, nice video. Quick question, have you guys tryied the RSV4RR? If so, how does it compare to the RSV4RF? I'm considering buying, just not sure if I can justify the extra cash for the RF version? Help...please! :)
+Eduardo de Vasconcelos Same bike except for wheels and suspension. If I'm honest, the RR is likely a better street bike, those lightweight wheels on the RF make the bike pretty flighty and it doesn't really want to stand upright at low speeds (true of any bike with really lightweight wheels, but you get used to it). The suspension on the RR is pretty good, a big step up from many bikes, you're unlikely to want for more. On the track it's a tossup too, because you likely want a TTX shock for that work, although the RF's shock can be revalved to a pre-2007 WSBK level so there is no shame in using it.
Heh... I don't find my RF is slow, ever. It pulls hard from 6000 rpm in sixth, which is a lot different than my old one. I don't know for sure but I think perhaps the R1 is just opening the throttle harder for a given throttle position. At full throttle I have had mine pull the front wheel in 4th gear just on power (only have 1000 miles on it so far). I did find the R1s acceleration to be pretty berserk with not much in between, very weird and nasty throttle snatchiness at lower RPMs... think you could get yourself in some serious trouble on that bike and not really in the best kind of way. But hey...
+Matt R C sounds like you have buyers remorse, going around trying hard to convince people how "kool" you're bike is, people like different bikes, that's why we have options, the only bikes squids seem to know is R6, R1, GSXR.
***** Does the gear i have on look like I'm a squid? If i smashed my bike tomorrow, I'd buy another R1. I'm already looking forward to the 2017r1 with auto down shift and what ever else they put on it..
I really hope you are going to make a comparison of the R1M and the new GSX-R 1000 youre reviews really make you feel like you're actually riding the bike yourself. you really get a good idea what the bike feels like 👍
+55URB I agree with you, apparently you can turn everything off except from abs but I feel like an experienced rider with an rsv4 will still be faster than an inexperienced rider with an r1 on the track, but 2 experienced riders, one with a 2015 r1 and one with an earlier model, the 2015 will be faster. But they even said in the video that the aids dont take away from the r1's overall feel. I havent ridden it but just speaking from the way it sounds I feel like just being able to pin the throttle out of a corner and let a computer adjust the power for you seems more boring than finding the perfect sweet spot on your own. I want to compare it to say something as simple as downshifting on a car. Yea there are semi-automatic transmissions that can do it way faster and perfectly everytime, but it just feels so much better to be able to do it myself in a manual car
+John Doe Yah...... no. Being able to use all the bike coming out of corners and charge down the straight with only minor adjustments to the bike (it doesn't ride itself) is awesome. Fighting my GSX-R coming out of corners takes skill and commitment no doubt but lying in a hospital bed while they fix your broken body because you didn't save the highside that ONE TIME puts it all into perspective. TC is a good thing for most riders.
Steve C Thats what I mean. Not skilled enough rider can't start from the top. Before you ride ducatti , mv agusta yamaha r1 ( without TC) you ahve to start on smaller bikes, learn the skills gain experience take some track lessons and keep the above bikes as a dream and something to look forward too. So when you get there you will appreciate it more. What is happening now is that bike factories are making bikes easier to ride so people who just passed their test and got the $ can spend it on the famous machine and call themselves "cool". In my view it kills all the fun.
Just a follow up, I picked up my brand new RSV4 RF on Friday, August 5th, 2016, from Blackfoot Motorsports in Calgary, AB. The bike is simply unreal. Hyperion Prime I'm actually in SK, but grew up in BC. The bike is currently at our place in Lions Bay waiting for me at the end of the month 😉
how is it on track?
@Leo O'Neill riding sucks in Calgary compared to the UK. I'm moving back to the UK in a few months
Ur comment is better dan this video
the R1 is good enough for Lewis Hamilton but it isn't good enough for this random Saskatchewanian LOL hey
also just want to add as some aggro comments below..

+soufilms Not only is the Aprilia not more money than a R1M, Aprilia parts tend to be cheaper than many Japanese bikes. So, double lose here.
Aprilla looks like shit and italian bikes are unreliable. Yamaha all the way
lol another hero
44teeth > mcn and every other bike channel combined. Keep going chaps!
+Brandon Scales mcn is shit lol. not even comparable!
Themayseffect
they've only just started using HD LOL, neevesy is okay but because they're a newspaper they can't do any of the dickfuckery that 44t get up to.
+Brandon Scales I dunno, Motorcyclist Magazine here on UA-cam is pretty damn good.
motorcyclist magazine, fortnine, 44teeth, and powerdrift are the only motorcycle channels you should be watching on youtube
What a double bloody good day.
+BaronVonGrumble I have got a standard r1 and I agree with everthing you say
+BaronVonGrumble That was a damn good review. 675R vs 899 Pinigale for the next one?

Can't agree more.
lol but you did not say how many times it broke down
bowches how many? let me guess, u never owned one.
just be quiet
bowches lol
You guys did so well! Very engaging and enlightening. Thanks for putting this together. The best to you all!
Great as usual, love the fairing bubble wrap comment :)
+Lamb Chop Rides "If you're a tool!" "Well... that's what I was gonna do!" Classic.
+Southern Fried And that face after he said it! Lol!
Ive heard nothing but praise of these two bikes but to hear u guys actually give them some shit is refreshing
One of the best matchups out there. These bikes are so evenly matched it is ridiculous. World class bikes, and great review guys!
Great review chaps !! I got my RF two weeks ago no
chance of running it in b4 winter but just starting it in the garage gives me a buzz !! Roll on Spring !! Keep up the good work brilliant !!
Don't be a wuss, take your bike for a ride
Awesome! I rode the R1M afew weeks ago, what a monster!! Felt exactly like my R6 but with 80 more horsepower, definitely on the list of potentials for a second bike
7:38 best moment of the video.
phoenix1925 hehehehe
People who say they want to turn the electronics off simply haven't ridden a bike with good electronics. The modern electronics are that good I just have no idea why you would want to disable them, besides wheelie control :)
I also know what you mean about leaving a huge line on the R1 while smoking anyone out of a corner, I was the guy getting smoked on my old ZX6R, dived under brakes, watched him round me up on the way out leaving a huge black line, was impressive lol.
Great channel been watching for years , better still your both local to me always spot the roads and locations. Great work keep it up
Best review ever!! Love the video format so different then the other reviewer.
Excellent videos, keep up the good work.
Awesome follow up to the Track Review,
& the scenes @ 7:40 & 16:40 are the LOL reasons
I enjoy the viddi-yo's most !!!
;)
Good Stuff
RSMF
Thanks guys, awesome review! I love my R1M and was considering buying a RF but not anymore.
+650ib RSV4 R-FW
I would have both if I could honestly. Don't do it.'
Yet it's so light and fun in the twisties.
+Zalonka he got the apri! unboxing vid on wed!
+YourTypicalGeek I've put 120 miles on the RF and I LOVE it! I'm riding it in 39F degree conditions so it must be love, LOL!
+650ib i bet!! will the vid be up at midnight so i can stay up.. ;)
+YourTypicalGeek Yes Sir. It will be live at midnight tonight. I have to finish editing it after work. Thanks for your support!
Man I love your videos guys !
I think the '16 RSV4 will take the show this time
really hoping for a redo of this comparison now with the 2017 updated Aprilia electronics!
Is the Euro spec R1M different to the USA one? Because on a USA Dyno the R1 makes about 13hp less than the RSV4.
+leighsa49 Yes it is.
+leighsa49 I got the ECU flashed and mine makes close to 200HP now.
In the Euro spec R1M has 200hp, more than the USA version
I agree on your argument regarding electronics on a bike, traction control, ABS, electronic suspension, its all designed to make you go quicker and be safer...what more do you want on a bike?!
Some people are just silly, get with the times people, go test ride an s1000rr, a 2015 r1, an rsv4 RF etc. and understand how much better these bikes really are compared to previous generations of everything.
SuperColouredPencil depends on the Rider
I'd like to see a comparison between the 2015 BMW S1000RR and the R1M. They both have smart suspension right?
+Chris Clarke Don't forget the Ducati S model.
Top video, real in depth. I have a 2017 r1m with full ti system and flash and to be honest I have more fun and can go quicker on my rvf400 with blue printed motor. Just saying. Still love the r1m to bits, and hopefully will become a classic in years to come.
nearest aprillia dealer and yamaha dealer are both 20 mins away. on the same road about 5 dors away
BvG I wasn't sure of your sidekick at first but he's bringing more and more to these vids. Just need a James May to complete the trio.
Hes from fast bikes magazines
is that Aurther Rudd crossing the road?
very nice, you guys always know the perfect match ups
Great Channel guys lovin it...
Just an idea and i apologise in advance if youve done this already... Maybe you should do a real world track test of say an R1M with a seasoned trackday rider on board, meaning (the guys that buy these 20K bikes for trackdays with no race experience) against a sorted GSXR1000K6 with a real rider on board. No bells no whistles too see how far the electronics package of modern kit compliments rider skill level.
2 days on my R1 lost my licence for 3 months and $872 fine and 6 points off my licence and that wasn't trying.....FUCK.
Lifted_Above So true this R1 is an absolute animal
m109rocket It's an animal after you get the revs past 8,000 in 1st gear, which means you're already approaching illegal.
Lifted_Above Yes mate the bike dose not come alive until around about 7 RPM BUT BOY WHEN IT DOSE YOU BETTER BE HANGING ON.
m109rocket I had a 2011 FZ1 with a true 150 rwhp after a full exhaust and ecu tuning. It weighed about 475 pounds. That's about 170 hp at the crank, something that the new FZ-10 isn't yet matching in stock form.
Love that little stretch of road, went up it again today and had no traffic in my way!
why isnt any of the bsb teams running the rsv4 when it was top of its game in wsb
Steve C
dude, the rsv4 and zx10r annilated competion in wsb the last few years, apart from the panigale getting its shit togther this year, im not sure what ur point is? rsv4 won it in 2010, 2012,2014
+juicer404 WSB SBK is a racing class with completely non-stock bikes.
Steve C
i said why isnt it racing in bsb? as in british SUPER bike i said nothing about super stock, im aware of the power deficit in super stock between the 2
Loved the review guys and it convinced me to buy the R1M. Fitted the full Akrapovic (from the Yamaha parts catalogues) and it sounds soooo sexy!
Nothing wrong with a bit of snatch in your play.
Love your reviews, you guys are the best!
The Aprilia felt slow - quite a statement - What is this R1?
If you were to use these bikes for long highway treks to get to twisty, tight mountain roads with a lot of elevation changes which would you pick? You guys agree that the r1 doesn't come to life below 70 so does that mean the April is is better in the hills? Thanks!
2015 s1000rr vs r1m please.
Is the video image reversed? They seem to be shifting on the right side rearset.
Please do another test between these 2 this year.
2017 Aprilia RSV4 RF vs 2017 Yamaha R1M
17:01 on 0.5 speed, it kills me. I had to replay that a few times.
My next upgrade from my bellowed r6 road bikes to this one R1 2015, love that bike.
Off to do the KTM Experience day in a couple of weeks hope the weather warms up a bit. Seen your video when you done it can't wait.
I'm curious to know if the 2016 zx10r, Kawasaki 'calculated' yaw/slide stacks up to the R1 bosch slide control.
I've looked below at your other comments. Nice try.
...and those comments are correct.
there is a aprilia shop in Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire or therr used to be not many shops about naw in Cambridge
Both amazing, and I own a yam. But it's the Italian for me , you just wouldn't be unhappy with either , technology yup prob the yam, but that rsv4 .
Dealership distance is actually why I chose Aprilia. I live about an hour from Louisville KY and there is a Ducati/ Aprilia dealership.
But Fagan in your Fast Bikes Sportsbike of the Year '15 article you had the RSV4 RF on top, beating R1M overall (11/10 vs 10/10), on road (9 vs 7) and track (Ape fastest lap), and said it had the sexiest sounding exhaust....
Do these beautiful bikes make good road bikes or are ppl better off with something like a mt10 ?
This is a fantastic review. Absolutely loved it.
I have the 2015 R1 i Love it on the street and on the track !
The RSV was the only other bike i considered but totally happy with my choice !!!
Test the 2017 RF vs R1M,the newfound power of the latest Ape should bridge that power gap, also better brakes electronics and suspension should make it intersting!
Ok let's now ask the question .... which one will breakdown less ??
Very good video . Plus bringing bikes and football ⚽️ in to one review holy 💩 nice one . 👍
Well now... I notice you say the R1 is not good at wheelies. Which is the best current litre sports/naked for wheelies as I’m in the market for a new bike! Please help! 🌪🌪🌪🙃
Really like these videos love what the guys say lots of really interesting comments and you earn a lot about the bikes thanks guys
Nice discussion and was that a Sony Z3 tablet?
Still a great/amazing bike but I think you could easily argue the V4 or 1299 are the best in class.
ive been saying this for a long long time. the r1 is the best sounding roadbike ever
the thing that still puzzles me is why couldn't Michael Dunlop get the R1 to work at the TT?? 🤔
***** yea but the bike is doing so well in BSB.. strange!
Was it just coincidence that you pair were chewing over the pros & cons of both bikes - whilst close to BELL HILL?!
Can someone please explain to me why sport bike rider hang their knee out so far when cornering?
can't wait to see this in 2019 when the new ones come out
fantastic comparison and discussion on two really amazing rides! wow
Now the comparison difference is the R1M was brand new and changed some the game with upgraded electronics, carbon and more horsepower and torque
The aprilia was on it's 6th year
The bikes always come out with game changer and each manufacture does it's best to catch up or leap frog each other
The guy that rides the Aprilia does have a bad hang-off. He isnt parallel to the bike, his head is in the middle of the bike and his back is 10-15cm away from the middle. (Sorry about my english, but im trying my best)
Love you guys and your videos.
My local Aprilia dealer is in Exeter!
+Flatulent Frank and you live in . . . Aberdeen!!? :-)
Nope....
:-) . . . Nice bikes. We now have a dealer in Peterborough
+Flatulent Frank I live in Belgium and my local dealer (Aprilia & Ducati etc) is just a few miles away! It's really not that small of a company I think
R1 is always love about exhaust we can use so many custom top class exhausts.
Great channel 44TEETH , THUMB UP GUYS
What helmet does the guy on the aprilia have?
But hey...
lol dude. enjoy those slow rsv4 with the old tc! ha!
can anyone say buyer's remorse?
I certainly don't have it. Are you having buyer's remorse?
+Matt R C sounds like you have buyers remorse, going around trying hard to convince people how "kool" you're bike is, people like different bikes, that's why we have options, the only bikes squids seem to know is R6, R1, GSXR.
*****
Does the gear i have on look like I'm a squid? If i smashed my bike tomorrow, I'd buy another R1. I'm already looking forward to the 2017r1 with auto down shift and what ever else they put on it..
Great vid, love the honest opinions.
"Its a downward donger motion" "Definitely a grower, not a shower, still a shower tho"
What I now know about the R1M
lmao
Was the pub in Petersfield by any chance?
Can you compare the tuono 1100 with the rsv4 ?
Why would they compare an RSV4 RF to an R1M?
I really hope you are going to make a comparison of the R1M and the new GSX-R 1000
youre reviews really make you feel like you're actually riding the bike yourself. you really get a good idea what the bike feels like 👍
R1 headlights look messed up and on streets I want more of a looker
Wicked video guys, thanks! Made me want to get out on my V4 badly...and also test ride an R1 ;)
You are so fascinated by yamaha but... is this not the point where bike starts to ride you and not other way around?
+55URB Not at all.
+55URB lol did you miss the part where they spoke specifically about the electronic aids?
