I consider myself a hard-core track fan. We live near Eugene and go to almost all the stadium events. Every year we watch every diamond league as a family. I would even consider paying up to $10 or $12 per track meet just to watch. but at $30 a month, flotrack is asking me to pay $20+ per diamond league meet just to be a fan and I don’t think we can do that. It breaks my heart because T&F brings my family together and it’s something we love doing together.

Flo track was livestreaming some marathons on UA-cam but just the first half and then they wanted you to go to their website to pay to watch the rest - I highly doubt many people did that. And I highly doubt that people will pay $30 to watch Track & Field. Luckily I live in Canada and all the Diamond League events are broadcast on one of our main TV channels CBC which is the equivalent of the British BBC
As a grappler most of the main competitions are shown on Flo Grappling. Good lord they’re horrible. The times are wrong, the scores are wrong and the camera is usually fixed so when they go out of frame you can only guess what is happening. And that’s on a good day.

Nike Prefontaine diamond league meet is not part of that deal because they had the money to pay to not go on flo track. And in the long run it might pay off for Nike and the Prefontaine classic.

Looked it up, the DL is an independent organization (based in Switzerland) not owned by World Athletics, but WA is a minor investor. It licenses broadcasting rights to a company called Infront, who sublicenses out the broadcast rights to individual countries/regions. NBC wasn't willing to pony up the $$$ they wanted so Flotrack stepped in and signed a contract for DL rights in the USA. Note that NBC still owns broadcast rights to the Pre Classic, the Olympics, and a bunch of other track meets here in the USA, so Flotrack does not have a stranglehold on USA broadcasting. Still crappy that its a $30/mo subscription to watch those meets. Sorry Flotrack, but I'm not going to pony up the cash.

Condolences. This happened to us cycling fans, too. After the closure of Global Cycling Network's streaming service, I now have to pay $150 per season for FloBikes, which has worse streams, and spoilers all over their webpage.
I got rid of my cable service in 2012 and haven't missed it. The cost was too high for what I was actually watching. Streaming services were convenient. You only want to watch a select few things. Now these new streaming services are trying to escort us back into cable like prices. I refuse. There isn't $30 worth of content on any channel or service per month.

Paramount Plus because there were a lot of CBS shows I liked plus you can watch football on the weekends or March Madness games. Netflix because it just has great variety. I really miss Sundays watching wide world of sports. They showed everything. Skiing.track and field, bicycling,skating, etc. At lest we knew some of the major athletes in a lot of disciplines. Cable killed that and now streaming is finishing it off.

I also really enjoy professional wrestling so getting all WWE PLEs along with a host of documentaries and other wrestling programming is great. I'm not adding another streaming service to the laundry list of services I already have, especially one that is $30 a month. That's an absolute slap in the face price tag

I love track and field but if this is going down, I'm done supporting the sport until there is fairness and something is done with the IOC

I'm totally good with waiting for select races to show up here or on other platforms. The only point in paying $29.99 is to be able to see it in real time and flotrack knows there are enough "desperate" people that will shell it out.
The problem with watching races later on UA-cam is that they tell you in the title who won the fucking races. What's up with that?!

Someone need to investigate the absolute reason why such a drastic change which will affect the price 6 fold. Could be something nefarious going on between a Diamond League executive and Peacock executive where they are racking in millions for this deal. Such a deal doesn't make sense at all. Who voted and allowing this deal to go through? This whole thing sounds bizarre. Too much of a price hike for this to look legit.
