The thing with Bolt though, was that he seemed to ease off before the end of races and didn't always push it until the end. He just cruised over the line.
Bolts cruising speed looks slower than it is, he didn't properly ducks for the line in the 9.58 but literally everything else about that record was near perfect.
To be completely honest, I think Noah has a real shot at breaking the 200m world record. I like Noah, but this won’t be easy. He will need a perfect day, a perfect start, and his legendary close. As for the 100m, I think we can all agree that it will take longer to fall. Lyles would need to start running his first 60 in the 6.3 range if he wants that record. Technically it’s still possible, as we’ve seen many impossible performances before, but he will have to work very hard and consistently to have any chance of achieving it.
I believe on the day given perfect weather conditions on the track and if Noah is capable of executing his 60 start in terms of power onto the track it’s really possible. I believe we can trust his finishing close is good enough to break 19.2 at least
Do also remember that Bolt did this after running five (5) races including a world record of 9.58. Blake did 19.26 at the diamond league, not much pressure…
@@stephenwilliams7200he’s pointing out that bolt ran a world record after setting another multiple world record only 2 days prior and with multiple rounds of running on his legs
I think for Lyles to break the 200m record, he’d have to skip out on the 100. I can’t see him breaking it after going through 3 rounds of the 100 as well.
I see you know track. People don't know how exhausting running all the prelims in just the 100 alone and to add the 200 as well. His best chances to win gold is definitely the 200, but also Leslie Tobago is looking nice too with breaking the 300m World Record. That 100 is going to be so deep. Kerly, Coleman, Knighton, Tobago. Everybody is coming for him, especially Knighton. Last Olympics, the Jamaican women showed up and stole the show. This year, the spotlight is going to be on the men.
And this is why Bolt's 2008 and 2009 doubles are on a whole different level: he ran full rounds in both events, and then set world records that _still stand._ Think about that: his 2008 9.69 in the 100m would still tie the world record today, and his 19.30 200m is only beaten by Blake's otherwordly 19.26... And then he came back the next year, ran full rounds and took more than _tenth of a second_ out of _BOTH_ records _AGAIN._ If he'd run only one event out of the 100m and 200m in 2009, the record he would have set in whichever event he ran would have been completely untouchable for _another_ generation from now.
I believe Lyles focusing on his start creates an opportunity cost. He has to forgo a fraction of his speed endurance and that affects his 200 while improving his 100.
The 200m is beatable, the 100m record is invincible for now. I think Tebogo has the biggest chance out of anyone to break the 200m. A 19.50 at his age plus besting Bolt, Michael Johnson, & Wayde Van Niekerk in the 300m shows that he's the real deal. Bolt's 200m is also into a headwind which helps make it more possible to beat, if Bolt had no wind he'd be closer to 19.16 & with a 1.0~2.0 m/s tailwind I think that would equate to a sub 19.10. So while I think his 200m WR is beatable, the new WR when it happens will still be less of a feat than Bolt's WR if we add in the factor of wind (unless they go sub 19.10 with a tailwind or beat his 19.19 with no wind/a headwind). If the 200 falls my guess would be Tebogo as the most likely, then Lyles, then Knighton. For Lyles to open in 10.00 or 10.05 & be able to finish strong I think he'd need to be at worst a low 9.7x 100m runner. Bolt at 9.58 opened at 9.92. So for Lyles to open at the same percent of full speed he'd need to be a 9.66 runner to do a 10.00 opener, a 9.71 runner to do a 10.05 opener. Going from 6.51 to 6.43 implies that Lyles can take 0.08 off his 100m with a better start, so a 9.75 instead of 9.83 which would be HUGE as that would put him ahead of Coleman, Kerley, & Bromell & he'd be the 6th fastest all-time, but even then it's not quite fast enough to beat Bolt's 19.19 even with Lyles great speed endurance. He'd need to be very very close to Tyson Gay/Yohan Blake 100m & combine that with his speed endurance to pull it off. I don't see him making huge improvements like this since he's already at peak age, so for now I'm sticking with Tebogo has the best shot in the years to come. Edit: To make predictions I think Lyles will run a 9.75~9.78 100m this season. I actually don't think he'll beat his 19.31, that race seems like an outlier as Lyles improved his 60m & 100m when focusing on that from 2022 to 2023, however this means less time to focus on 200m, so his best performance dropped from a 19.31 to a 19.47. I think Lyles will get a 19.39 this year & that MAY be the world lead, however I think it's possible Tebogo runs faster than 19.39 so I think Tebogo will have the world lead this year, but it won't be a WR, not yet.
Exactly what I said in my comment. Data shows that Lyles and his coach haven't exactly been able to find the balance between his speed endurance and his raw speed to be able to challenge the word record at all. I doubt they will ever find that balance. I could be wrong but jumping from that 19.31 to sub 19.2???
@@cookierobberbut the difference is that Usain Bolt is more faster than Noah Lyle’s in the 100m when he dropped from 19.30 to 19.19 and plus Usain Bolt is tall as hell so it is more likely to happen
@@Yes_I_c4n Yes, for one Bolt ran into a headwind so someone can get lucky & run a worse race than Bolt (say 19.28 equivalent with the same wind Bolt had, but they instead get a 1.5~2.0 m/s tailwind & squeeze out a 19.17 or 19.18). Secondly a 19.26 & a 19.31 have happened, so there are 2 other runs in the last 15 years that were close~closeish. Can't say the same for the 100m, that's unbeatable right now.
As I've said before, Noah is one of those athletes that can "sustain speed"... Basically, "slow down slower." Some athletes have a greater nack for it (ETH & S. Richardson) whilst others have to revamp their entire sprinting process to get it (SAFP). Ok for anyone interested to learn, train using longer distances (200m and 300m) for conditioning. Also, focus, relax and control your breathing.
Bolt was insane his 200 m record 19.19s / 2 = 9.59 s is basically his 100 m record of 9.58s that consitency is almost perfect which means no drop in speed on the 200m even Cheetahs show drop in speed after 100 m. Usain was great because of his consistent speed, sheesh jjust realized it now.
@@2ScarletSnow200m is gonna be faster though because theres more time you're running at top speed, providing you can maintain it. Bolt probably could have got close to an 18 second 200m.
I love watching this KID run! He starts out steady setting up the last 100M. When he hits that curve, he comes on like a freight train NEVER breaking form. Poetry in motion.
I wouldn't rule out Letsile Tobogo being right there with him. When you look at how much he has improved his 300/400m times and they were his first two races of the season, although admittedly compared with his first two races of last season. Either way, big improvements.

@joerice6704 Yes, Knighton is under the radar. He got length and usually a faster take off than Lyles. I wonder what Knighton has been doing during the indoor season? Surprised I didn't see him in the major 60 meter races.
That's key,I bet Bolt could have run faster if he was chased too. Lyles is my boy I hope he does it. I think he can because of his closing speed. We've all been shocked before.
What people fail to mention is that Usain always eased up with about 10 meters left, which had he ran through the finish line without easing up, he would have ran faster times in the 100 and 200.
@@clemenx No I agree. his 9.58 is pretty reflective of his max pace at peak fitness. We were lucky to see it. The 19.19 maybe he could have gone 0.01 or 0.02 faster if he was being pushed more but he didn't noticeably slow and don't forget, people didn't believe he would break 19.20 in the first place. Yes maybe Blake could have gotten close with a better start... maybe, but the reality is Blake at his peak was faster than the fastest we have now.
He definitely eased off a bit in the 200. It's so wild that a once in a lifetime guy was so chill that he didn't even feel the need to push the record 100%
@@ImBarryScottCSS True. I've never managed to work out how much he cared about the records vs. winning the race. Even his 9.58, it was a comfortable win but that was a FAST field, and he was pushed most of the way. With out that pressure I don't think he could have done it because, and I don't think this is unique to Bolt, I'd say in many ways this is one of those areas in which is he quite relatable to the average person, he needed that pressure to be able to push that hard. I don't think he could have brought that performance just for the record.
I'm calling it now, Bolt's 200m record will not be touched by Lyles or anybody else for that matter. Not anytime soon. I'd like to be proven wrong, so good luck
The point you keep missing when making these videos is that of the 200 meters. When you run a 9.92 first 100 meters putting that much impact on your body it’s most definitely going to be harder to close in 9.16 or lower. Lyles, yohan, Michael Johnson all had a faster close because they ran the first 100 way slower and had the energy to finish super fast.
Yohan's first half appeared to be "slow" because he had a very poor reaction time out of the blocks and if not for that we would be talking about trying to beat Yohan Blake's 200 meter WR.
@@phoebus Incorrect Yohan walked the bend and bolted in the straight exactly as Bolt and Glen Mills instructed him to do. He's a very poor bend runner plus his previous injury made bend running risky.
@@donaldmckenzie7728 Blake's 10.14 time on his first 100 meters was not slow, if you think 10.14 is "poor" you are nuts and that time includes his slow reaction time of .269 seconds which was almost double his average, so with a normal reaction time for Blake he would have run the bend in about 10 seconds and if not for his abnormally slow reaction time he would have set the 200 meter WR at about 19.14 seconds. Also Blake's injury came almost 2 years after his 19.26 200 meter time , so really you are the one who is incorrect about everything.
World records will always be broken sooner or later. But whether and when Bolts records are beaten will never detract from the fact he is a triple Olympic champion from 08, 12, 16 and that achievement shows true greatness than individual records.
Maybe, but the one-in-a-billion athletes come quick these days, everyone thought Johnson’s records would hold 50 years as well, then we had Bolt and Van De Niekerk within a decade.
Its crazy how fast Bolt is considering his size, but also his name. Like how did God, providence or causality allow this specific sequence of events to transpire?!?
I don't think that he will. I worry that his new bulk will work against him in the 200m. He will be the world lead in the 100m but he hasn't re-captured his 200m magic from 2022. I'm rooting for him but I wonder if his 60m and 100m improvements will not translate into the 200m. I'm rooting for him for sure.
@@vanderwilder695How is he delusional? Did he not win gold in the world championship for both events last year? This is literally the most reasonable opinion
Usain Bolt ran a perfect race to win the 200m and beat his own world record. Lyles would have to run an epic race to beat Bolt's record. Let's be real here, Lyles is a top runner but those world records that bolt set! I wouldn't be surprised if they stood for half a century. Bolt is a super human freak. That's why he achieved something everyone thought was impossible.
Everything you ascribe to Lyles can be done for Tebogo, geez! Funny how it’s all about Lyles as if everyone else is just fodder, keep hyping him, it sells tickets!
US athletes get a lot of attention on here. As if it's the only country capable of performing. Looking at WR lists, I don't see a lot of US (4 to be exact for Men) flags at the top. I vouch for Tebogo as the one we have to look up to for the next decade.
Kind of like the 4 x 100m record of 36.84 is 9.21 “splits”? If you estimate that the first leg of the relay runs 9.8 (which would be pretty dang good running the curve), that leaves the final 3 legs all running around 9.01 splits. It’s a lot different when you are already running at the start of 100m vs starting out of the blocks. The second half of 200m can’t be compared to the first when the first half is from a stop and the runner is already at top speed at the beginning of the 2nd half. If a runner is capable of running 9.0 for 100m when already at speed, they would only have to run 10.0 for the first 100m of a 200m race to hit 19.0. It’s all about endurance. I personally don’t think it’s too much for current humans. I feel like the 200m record is more beatable than the 100m record. Both will get beaten at some point though.
No one is beating 19.19 split it and you are running at 9.59. That is like running beside bolt for a full 200 metre. Hell nah. I don’t see it happening. Bolts long legs is a big factor in his stride and distance covered. I don’t see this record being broken ever.
@@ericfraley Well if best jamaican were running "flying 100m's" at ~9 seconds+. Its hard for someone to run 2nd half of 200m at 9 seconds. Its impossible actually for someone to have THAT much endurance, not humanly possible to maintain ATP for full sprinting for 19seconds. Lets say you run first 100m at 10 seconds flat. Then it's impossible to run 2nd 100m at 9 seconds coz you already tired so it's just not possible. Unless you run 9.8seconds for first 100m and then 9.2 for the second 100m which still sounds insane to run 9.2s after 9.8 for first 100m. I think the limit will be around 19.13-19.16. Going below that requires someone to be born like BOLT but BETTER which idk how possible it is.
He ran a 19.31. He has improved his start since last year. Maybe 19.23 at best. But he isn't going to run that if he also running almost a half dozen races in the 100 to get to the finals and also running multiple 4x100 races.
@mauricemordecai4376 He will never run 19.2x. Never. You heard it here first. He's fallen in love with the 100m and has already peaked in the 200m. 19.19 is safe.
I seriously do think that Tebogo will leave our jaws dropped this year... Lyles , on one hand, might have a shot at triple gold in the olympics, because of his consistency. That said, I do think Tebogo might have a shot at the 200m WR bc he just runs crazy times out of nowhere.

I think Noah should focus on the 200m in the Olympics cause if he focuses on a lot of things someone is gonna cause a huge upset on him, Coleman is back on fire so I think he's taking the 100m and if Noah Lyles is gonna sleep he might find himself behind Letsile Tebogo cause one of Lyles biggest weapons was his strength on that last 70m and no one could match him there now with Tebogo not only matching him there but I believe his better his definitely a huge threat to Noah.
200 is easily the deepest race in Paris this year. I think he can get to like 19.26, but I think that is his ceiling. Would not be shocking to see another American Record. I just am not sure he quite has the 100 speed to get under Bolt's run. It's what held Michael Johnson back a bit from going even lower. No matter what though that final should be an excellent and exciting race to watch.
One thing that we have to factor in is the rounds. The Olympics has 4 rounds compared to three at Worlds. It is more difficult at the Olympics. What makes Bolts records so special is not just the times, but also when he did it. He did at major championships. His WR were at the WC which was faster than his Olympic year even though he was in a better shape his Olympic year.
If Lyle's does this, everything is going to have to be just perfect that day. Perfect start, ~1.6-1.9 tailwind, and tebogo running at peak condition to push him
Thing is though if lyles starts faster then he's gonna finish slower. I doubt lyles is gonna run something like 9.16 for the last 100m if he started similarly to Usain's 9.92.
Yep I too have been saying this forever. He can't even run sub 10 on a bend flat out and if he attempts to get through faster than the 10.15 he did on his way to 19.31, his second half slows. Never going to happen unless he has the speed reserve of a 9.6 sprinter.
Tebogo is young and coming on strong. I think Lyles will win gold this year but not break Bolts record. By next year I think Tebogo will be tied and pass him in 2026
You & so many people have said this nonsense since the beginning of time. All records are broken & have been broken. No one thought MJ 19.32 would be broken for eons & it happened. What you should say is, "I hope & pray no one will ever break Usains records bc I love him so damn much!" Then you'll be talking the truth.
We shall see. Tebogo has not really shown that he can run 19.19, whereas Lyes has. However, Tebogo is definitely dangerous no matter what event he runs in.
@@stephenwilliams7200 it's a young man's sport. How old were the two men who ran sub 19.30?? 21 and 22. Noah is 27 this year. Nonetheless, last year Noah probably was in his best shape, did a couple WR attempts in the diamond league, but ultimately still was about 0.30s away from Bolt.
@@motshwari Whereas MJ was 29 when he ran the world record and Justin Gatlin peaked at 33. People reach their physical peaks at different ages. We don't know if Lyles has peaked yet or not. The thing is bolt doesnt even try in the majority of his races, the only two times he physically was trying was his 9.58 time and the 2015 world championships, one the fastest time in history and the other in his twiglight, i think lyles is a harder worker and tries more in his races which is why he may beat bolts record, but if bolt actually tried he could have got sub 19.10s easily.
People must remember that the record from Bolt was done while he was heavily exhausted. These races before drained some hundreds of what he would have been capable at this time. You don't ruin world record in 100m and then be 100% regenerated a few days back, he is still a human.
Bolt wasn't that drained going through the 200 rounds. The world record in the final was the only sub 20 he ran the entire meet. He conserved his energy very well during all those rounds the same way he did in the 100. Coast through the prelims and go full throttle in the final
Lmfao! You got a crystal ball now don't you‽ Hahaha people are funny. The truth is you should really be saying, "please don't break Usain Bolts records bc I don't want anyone else to be faster." Come on man, records come & go. They all eventually get broken & not bc you believed that they could or couldn't.
1.24 percent improvement this year after improving a half percent each of the last 3 years. Looking at his best time in the 200, amd the fact that it becomes exponentially harder to improve year to year, he is 50 50 to break the record. Barring injuries or freak accidents, he is a favorite.
Knighton or Tobago will challenge Bolt’s 19.19. They are both running much faster at 20 years old than Lyles. However, anything is possible in any one race if he flies out of the blocks.

When Bolt finishes in 19.19 s, Lyles has run 198.757 m (10.3573 m/s x 19.19 s = 198.757 m). Lyles 19.31/Bolt 19.19 = 1.00625. A difference of a little more than six tenths of one percent. The mathematical differences in sprinting are very small indeed. Good luck to Lyles and the entire US team in the Paris Olympics.
All he has to do is win 100 200 and 4x100 in three Olympics while breaking 5 World records in the same time frame, then he'll be a legend too, good luck.

If he'd run only one event out of the 100m and 200m in 2009, the record he would have set in whichever event he ran would have been completely untouchable for _another_ generation from now.
With Tebogo And lyles. We have athletes that genuinely have a chance.
erriyon knighton too
Agreed, albeit, I’m favoring Tebogo to do so.
I believe Lyles focusing on his start creates an opportunity cost. He has to forgo a fraction of his speed endurance and that affects his 200 while improving his 100.
@@panashenhavira Why is that so? I mean how improving his start affects anything else in his sprinting abilities that he already has?
Tebogo gonna give Lyles the finger wag in Paris.
@@panashenhaviraI agree that OP's predictions seem pretty likely, but just worth pointing out that Bolt jumped from 19.30 to 19.19

Basically, "slow down slower."
Some athletes have a greater nack for it (ETH & S.
Noah not even close

He absolutely didn't ease up in 9.58. In 19.19 maybe. He was so far ahead that it is hard to tell but I don't think he did much.
Yup. All this talk of breaking his record is just talk. Sure. Good luck to them. They're gonna need it.
Luck is secondary here. Both Tebogo and Lyles have the talent to do it.

@Don't waste time on that guy. He's one of "those" guys. We all know the real world record is the men's 100m.
Exactly
You said, "SUPER!" Lmfao
Lyles ran 19.70, finishing third place in 200m final
World records will always be broken sooner or later.
But whether and when Bolts records are beaten will never detract from the fact he is a triple Olympic champion from 08, 12, 16 and that achievement shows true greatness than individual records.
Got a medal stripped too.... 💉

Yes agreed, even if his time records get broken, I don’t think his 3 peat olympics golds record will fall anytime soon.
I personally don't think Lyles has a chance. 19.19 is absolutely insane I really do think it will stand for decades and decades
I neither do nor follow track & field, but I love your videos. Keep it up man!
I believe that 60m improvement is only going to translate to his 100m significantly but not much in his 200. He'll probably run 19.3 again.
Yeah I think so too especially since the first 60 on a bend is a bit different (I still think he can go 19.2 tho)

US athletes get a lot of attention on here. As if it's the only country capable of performing.
Looking at WR lists, I don't see a lot of US (4 to be exact for Men) flags at the top.
I vouch for Tebogo as the one we have to look up to for the next decade.
19.19 is still two ~9.6 splits….. thats just too much for current human beings

I Think noah lyles will be going after the 200m world record this season . who agree?
Tf you mean "you think?" Like bro, that's literally what this whole video is about
LMFAOOOOO@@sir_sack
Don't forget that it is wayy harder to improve on the curb than it is on the second half
And bolt, as you said, ran the best curb of all time
Tebogo's gonna swoop in and snatch the WR and gold medal away 😍
In 2204?
Some math:
Bolt: 200 m/19.19 s = sprinting at 10.4221 m/s
Lyles: 200 m/19.31 s = sprinting at 10.3573 m/s
Bolt and Lyles are in the same hypothetical race and each runs his best time. When Bolt finishes in 19.19 s, Lyles has run 198.757 m
(10.3573 m/s x 19.19 s = 198.757 m).
Lyles 19.31/Bolt 19.19 = 1.00625. A difference of a little more than six tenths of one percent.
The mathematical differences in sprinting are very small indeed.
Good luck to Lyles and the entire US team in the Paris Olympics.
Let's go Noah!!!!
All he has to do is win 100 200 and 4x100 in three Olympics while breaking 5 World records in the same time frame, then he'll be a legend too, good luck.
Lyles is looking good for it
I need to meet the guy who does these videos, high quality work here.
Lyles could barely make 9.83 and he was huffing and puffing, he would never do 9:57 in his lifetime 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
If Kishane Thompson gets the right momentum through the olympics, Noah Lyles will. have nosher at the 100m. Not to mention oblique seville. For the 200m, he does seem to have a good shot at gold and probably event world record.
The next thing is although we Jamaicans love Lyles, his 200m fastest time was still run in the United States…and the rest of the world is taking a note. When an athlete can prove things outside their own country then they are better respected…
I think I can do it, but knowing the training system, my form will explode around OG in Paris
I can't wait anymore
19.15 will be the record in the 200 meters by the end of the year.
BUT WHO WILL DO IT??
Lyles will probably beat Blake's time, but not Bolt.
Nah
HE won the gold for 100m waiting for the 200m.
Lyles just needs a tailwind and a good start to get that wr
@@Yes_I_c4n he ran 19.31, and even he said that it wasn't a perfect race. if he fixes his mistakes and gets a good start with a tailwind. He could have it.
@@Yes_I_c4nYou didn't read the comment did you? Try reading it and come back again
@@Yes_I_c4n I'm not making stuff up, I know what I'm saying, Noah lyles himself said that the last 80 meters of that race, his back was arched back, he wasn't lifting his knees up high enough. And he was all over the place.
@@Yes_I_c4n yup.
@@TheoOJamaloO1 You didnt read the comment either huh? It'z ok small steps
Nothing is wrong with "dreaming" BUT REALISTICALLY THE PERSON TO BEAT THESE BOLT RECORDS AS NOT BEEN BORNED YET , THESE SLOW RUNNERS TODAY WONT GET THIS , BUT NOTHING WRONG WITH DREAMING
Come on stop giving these people hope…nyles will not let anyone win…once he comes off that turn he does whatever he needs to do to win. Period.
make sure to chew thoroughly while you eat that hat :)
@@pennykie4796 not really…he had Covid lmao.
@@pennykie4796 not really. Try running a 200 with Covid and see how you do :)
Noah is a cool guy. I hope he win his 3 gold in next olympic. ☺️
I mean the fact that Noah used to struggle getting a 10 second 100m and now can easily be under 10 seconds plus with a 60m of 6.43 that’s a guarantee 19.2 or better as long as the wind is right and it’s gotta be his day.
Only Bolt son could break his record 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Speculating just for content. I’m not buying it.
Chill
Who cares it’s nice to have hope
@@watchman9198 hope vs reality. That record has lasted 15 years already and no one has even come close. Same with the 100M. There’s no one out there currently who has even a whiff of a chance at approaching either one. If I’m proven wrong then fine, but I won’t be for a very long time.
@@fezzik7619 didn’t Noah Lyles get close?
@@purpleblazeofficial no. 19.31 and 19.19 are VERY far apart in a sprint. I’d run simultaneously he’d have finished way behind him. Yusef Powell came closest at 19.26 which is still far behind. In the 100M Lyles hasn’t done better than 9.83 which is even more of a gap from 9.58.
As many records as we’ve seen fall over the last few years, i still think the 200 and 100 are untouchable. But if one has to fall this year id bet the 200 does.
Don't matter cuz my boy gout gout finna steal it all in 7 years
The only way Noah will do it is by making the track even faster. Bolt's record will be tough to beat at the 2024 Olympics
I don’t think he can he talk too much it will be a Jamaica 🇯🇲 that’ll brake bolts record not on a American loud mouth guy
Well said
Came to this channel after 3 years n this guyis still breaking bolts records, 3 years ago he was doing the same, i even don’t remember the names whom this guy was saying gonna break bolts records in 2022
lol lol noah will never reach on bolts level !!!!!! never
Usain Bolt is both the greatest gift and biggest disappointment in sprints' history. He left records off the table. And his longevity too. Party hard talent. It's fun.
I’m so confused, Lyles is 3 years older than the runner you touted for years as being “the greatest ever,” Matthew Boling. Yet your man Boling hasn’t come close to the kinds of times and race victories Lyle has been posting for years. It’s time for you to make a “Why I Was Wrong About Matthew Boling” video.
This is the dumbest comment I’ve ever read
Noah got that Super Saiyan 4 energy right now
