Can I roast a chicken and do scalloped potatoes at the same time on the convection roast setting?

The short answer is yes however you do need to think it through.
A 4 - 5lb chicken will take approx 1 hr to cook and is usually cooked at a higher temp (425) for the first 12-15 mins and 350 for the remainder of the time, then you must add time for resting and carving, so maybe 1 hr 20 mins total. The scalloped potatoes need a good hour at 350 and shouldn't go into the oven until the temperature has been reduced to 350 and if you follow this scenario they should be cooked through when the chicken is ready to serve. Or you could bake the scalloped potatoes first and reheat them before serving. Once cooked they hold the heat for quite a while. Hope this helps.

@@convectionkitchen it does! Thank you! So if I cook the potatoes first, let them rest covered with foil the whole time the chicken is cooking, then put them back into the oven once the chicken comes out, they should reheat as the chicken is resting and carves, right?

@@maggiemay4573 yes that’s correct, put them back uncovered at 350 Conv or Conv Bake and they will be piping hot when the chicken is ready to serve.
