    oh my gosh, I had a left shoulder frozen , physical therapy, plus going under to free it up. now I had a right one. Never once did anyone say to message the muscles. I watched this video to find the muscles where knotted by my collar bone to the size of a walnut , soar and so tight. then I followed this with the deltoid muscles release , and pressed and released. then my arm was freeing up. I was so excited. So So happy. I am a cellist, pianist, violinist. Holding up and using my arm was excruciating to the point I had to stop orchestra. My prayers are answered because in the middle of the night while I was sleeping , I woke up to find this video. Woke up this morning to the fact I can free my arm and know what to do knowing it is my muscles. NO ONE PROFESSIONAL EVEN WENT THIS ROUTE> I can hold up to play my violin and it is 80 percent better and know what to do each time it locks up. . thank you Gary Crowley. There is hope for no pain to sleep as well , and for my career with music. Your a blessing for me.

    Thanks so much for these videos Gary. I used them a couple of years ago when I had a left frozen shoulder and they really sorted out the problem. This was such a relief after 8 months of shoulder pain. I have now got a right hand side frozen shoulder and I'm wasting no time in getting started on your exercises again!

    Thank you so much Gary. I found your videos today and i was like a door to a new world opened! Not only did it help me improve my mobility (even if it was just a little bit), but most of all it helped me understand the entire concept of stiffness and pain surrounding my problems with joins and back. I have RSD in my left arm and a frozen shoulder on the right After just the first day of trying your techniques I saw a dramatic improvement in my shoulder. Extra added benefit, I had been waking up 4 or 5 times a night with pain, BUT NO MORE! I now sleep pain free! I love your web site. Keep up this great work of yours!! Cathy of RI

      Hi Gary,
      I made some quick gains in mobility (thank you), but have plateaued in getting my shoulder blades to really release and allow external rotation with my upper arms pointing out from my body. (Long story, I have two partially frozen shoulders and sleep is a bit tricky these days)
      Any advice for going after releasing my shoulder blades a little more aggressively?
      Thank you in advance.

      Hi Chris, If you have two frozen shoulders I would imagine that doing my techniques by yourself would be very difficult. I might be time to recruit a friend to get into those areas that must be tough for you. That can be a tremendous help for some people in your position.

    OMG thank you for sharing. I've had a frozen shoulder for 3yrs now and it is finally starting to release but no-one has showed me this types of exercises if only I happened across you sooner.... A lot of pain this causes, I've had one fantastic masseur who applied pressure to the muscles under my armpit and yes it started to help with the pain but also helped with ROM. I will keep doing these as I still have a lot of pain in my neck and around my trapezius especially towards the bottom and around the ribs. Wow I will share you with other health specialist I know and deal with but will keep all this great knowledge within reach as I'm doing my cert III & IV in fitness so may come in handy for clients.

    Thank you! These techniques have made my shoulder feel instantly better. Your clear explanations have also made me realise that although the pain is in my shoulder joint, it's caused by the muscles down my shoulder blade. I had a bad fall from a horse 14 years ago and landed on this shoulder blade on the top of a wooden fence. I had physiotherapy at the time, but I think that I'm experiencing the old injury flaring-up. Thanks again - 98% better!

    I shared this same comment on video 1 of this series, but in case you missed my experience applying these techniques I decided to copy/paste my experience here too so that you know what to expect.
    If you are sitting there watching this video with a painful frozen
    shoulder wondering if Gary knows what he's talking about, well it turns
    out he does! I watched all 5 videos and applied what he taught me and
    it worked. It took a 3 days to unfreeze it though, and in all honesty
    the first day of doing what he said actually made my shoulder hurt
    worse. So on day 2 I had friend apply these techniques on me and I was
    pain free all day. It hurt again that night though. Then on day 3 my
    friend did press and release technique on me again and that's when the
    magic happened. No pain all day, no pain all night, and then the next
    day I doubled my ROM (range of motion). Each day I gain more strength
    in my shoulder and have started trying to increase my ROM even more by
    slowly inching up the wall with my fingers. As a person who does not
    have insurance, I am eternally grateful to awesome people like Gary who
    share their knowledge and give relief to so many people. Thank you
    Gary, I will spread the word to anyone who has pain to turn to your
    channel for genuine help. Keep doing what you're doing Gary, you're
    amazing at what you do and you're helping so many people!

      Hi Marco,
      You are very welcome. Doing the techniques "too much" will only result in too much soreness to work on yourself the next day, or if you really go to town on yourself you could bruise yourself a bit. I'd let soreness be your guide as to how much work you can take, but you really can't do any real harm to yourself.

    Hi,
    I was really glad to find your videos for frozen shoulder. I have FS on both the right and left side. The right side cleared for a while and now it is coming back. The left side has been locked up for over two years now. I have had injections with mixed results. I tried the exercise for the clavicle/pectoral area on the right side and got a zinging pain. It's unusually tender. Seemed to make my right arm feel worse. Is this something I should be concerned about? Thank you so much for your videos and DIY care.
    Beth G.

    • @garycrowley1
      @garycrowley1  9 років тому

      Hi Beth,
      It sounds like your shoulder girdle is very, very tight. The zinging is probably happening because the tight tissue is affecting a big grouping of nerves called you brachial plexus. Go at your own pace, but you've go to free that tissue. And the fact that it seems to affect the other side is probably because you have a lot of tight tissue compromising your entire shoulder girdle. Keep at it, and feel free to recruit others to work on some areas you have a tough time getting at. Stick with it and you'll be glad you did.
      If you want all the videos on one page, my free website Do-It-Yourself-Joint-Pain-Relief (click the link in the video description above) has them all.

    Thank you for your wonderful explanations and techniques I wish I had come across 10 months ago. I have been searching for a treatment and after five months I needed surgery but I am still recovering and cannot find a solution for the pain in my front bicep (a 6cm hard bump caused by a stretch behind my back) which may be the cause for my left frozen shoulder. Everyone says it is normal but it hurts most of the time, especially when I do shoulder exercises. Is there anything I can do to treat this muscle and down to my fingers?

      In terms of Do It Yourself, what I show in this video is mostly what I have. If you happen to live in the San Diego, CA, USA area then there are things would do in a session that you can't do yourself, but I'm guessing you don't. Shoulders are tricky after surgery and often take a long time to heal. I'll flag this comment and if I think of anything I'll come back and let you know. I do wish you the best.

    Hi Gary, I have a question. After months of agony and both medication and steroid injections for bursitis in my shoulder, all of which had no effect, I have had an MRI which has diagnosed acute adhesive capsulitis. I am very interested to try your exercises however note they all focus on the muscle groups that can restrict movement rather than the root cause of frozen shoulder, being the thickening and freezing of the shoulder capsular. I am a bit scared to try them for this reason given the amount of pain I am in. I would be keen on your thoughts on why you do not focus on this root cause area, and any advice on the pros and cons of doing these exercises given this clinical diagnosis of frozen shoulder.
    Thanks
    Will

      William Trainor Hi Will, If you read the homepage of my free website here, www.do-it-yourself-joint-pain-relief.com/ that will give you a better understanding of how tight tissue can compress a joint. "Bones only go where muscles and soft-tissue pull or hold them". Give it a read.
      And my techniques will either help you or leave things unchanged. There is really no downside to trying them.

    Thank you Gary, I feel the difference after doing the exercises for 1 day and I also have gone to the physical therapist and nothing has worked significantly for my frozen shoulder until now. One question.. Are you supposed to feel sore after doing the push pull? I feel pretty sore, and was trying to figure out if I was doing it wrong or this is normal.

    • @garycrowley1
      @garycrowley1  9 років тому

      Anjali Joshi Hello Anjali,Yes, feeling sore is common. Everybody is a bit different, but yes, it is common. If the tissue is too sore to work on after you've worked it, just give that area a break for a day or two and you should be fine.

      Hi Chandra,
      I'm glad to hear my videos are helping you. Keep up the good work. You can certainly apply a medicated massage oil to your shoulder, BUT don't do it before or during my techniques. Your skin will be too slippery and then you can't work on the tissue in the way I recommend.
      All the best,

      Sleep on your side "hugging" a pillow with your top hand ( a folded king-sized pillow works best). On your back have a pillow under your shoulder and arm. Give it try, see if that helps.
      Best,

    I have done this procedures and my shoulder muscles got swollen and more painful I want to know if that usually happen if it's normal? I have been to 3 doctors but the medicines and physical therapy did not help. The 3rd doctor told me I have a myofascial pain syndrome. I can feel a lot of nodules at the base of my skull. I can also feel a lot of tension on my neck and shoulder and its really painful when touching. Hoping for your response. Thank you so much.

    • @garycrowley1
      @garycrowley1  9 років тому

      Hi Cris,
      No, it is not normal for you to get swollen. It may be happening if you are forcing movement in the shoulder that it is not yet free enough to do. I'd focus on getting all that tension in the base of your skull, neck and shoulders, and NOT forcing movement in the shoulder. If you can have a friend do some of the things that are difficult for you to get at, that may help you to now force the shoulder to move in ways it's not free enough to do, and you may get faster results if your friend has good hands.
      All the best,
