    Gary, you give me a lot of hope that I just may be able to live free of shoulder pain! Before I found your videos, I pretty much thought it would be a surgery for sure, since it limited activity and quality of Life so much. I am getting better by the day and want to say THANK YOU for your wisdom and your kind generosity in sharing it. All the best to YOU.

      Hi Brenda,
      You are very welcome. You're just the type of person I had in mind when I built my "free to the world" website. In my practice I tend to get all "the incurables" and most of the time it really is just tight tissue restricting function and causing pain. Keep up the good work. Be persistent and patient. I say to lots of folks, "It's just time and pressure" applied in the right places. You can do it!
      And please do feel free to tell friends and others about www.Do-It-Yourself-Joint-Pain-Relief.com. Together, who knows how many people we can help!

      Gary Crowley

    Gary! Thanks for this stretch!!! When I do this, I get tightness in my lower side (same side I'm stretching) slightly to rear. Is that because the sub-scap is still to tight and instead of stretching it, I'm guarding the sub-scap & stretching the lower side? Any tips you could provide would be great. This seems like a powerful stretch, if I can get it right! Thanks for your video!!! Deb

    Does the mechanics of this stretch involve an internal or external rotation of the arm, or does it depend solely on the abduction of the arm?

    • @garycrowley1
      @garycrowley1  23 дні тому

      It depends a lot upon the individual person's positional relationship between their ribcage, scapula, and humerus, so you've got to play a little bit with your positioning. Because your humerus is pretty locked in position from the weight of your body against the wall you would generally want to rotate your chest to change the positional relationship, and generally their does seem to be a bit of external rotation to "get" that subscapularis. But it's a bit of a tricky one! So, just play with it until you get it.
      Best,
      Gary C.

    My ulnar nerve has been slightly entrapped from stretching my
    subscapularis. The tips of my pinky and ring fingers are numb. Is this
    the result of the ulnar nerve being in a bad position all these years
    (from bad posture and a tight subscapularis)?
    Am I correcting a dysfunctional nerve position or creating it by doing these stretches? I am not sure and cannot find much information on how nerves translate through tissue gradually over time... only from nerve glides. Thanks for any information you may have!!!

    This stretch has been really helpful, I feel a deep stretch right in my armpit and the upper few inches of my humerus... however, is there any chance this could be irritating my ulnar nerve somehow? Any advice on this?

    • @garycrowley1
      @garycrowley1  7 років тому +1

      It's a pretty deep stretch, so if your pec, pec minor (the peck under your pec), and subclavius (tucked under your collarbone) were tight they might yank on the nerve a bit. My free shoulder girdle page shows you how to release those here, www.do-it-yourself-joint-pain-relief.com/shoulder-joint-pain-relief.html
      And you might just want to release your triceps while your at it, my free Elbow Pain Page shows you here,

      Hope that helps.

    Hi Gary,
    After doing this stretch one or two times, i've a quite mild numbness feeling in my pinky.
    So could i've definitely damaged my ulnar nerve by doing this stretch just one or two times ?
    Will this go away or should i quickly see a physician in order to prevent aggravation ?
    Thanks you for your lights

    • @garycrowley1
      @garycrowley1  7 років тому

      Your shoulder girdle and upper back are probably pretty tight. The numbness should pass, but I'd recommend you go through my free Shoulder Girdle Pain Relief page, www.do-it-yourself-joint-pain-relief.com/shoulder-joint-pain-relief.html to free up all the other muscles in your shoulder girdle so the stretch can be even more effective. Plus, I show you how to manually release the subscapularis without having to do this stretch if is a problem for you.

      That's very funny! Love that pic.
      You are very welcome. Well, you sure know it's tight when it feels that way when you press on it. Stick with it and it will be worth it. A tight subscapularis can wreak havoc with that entire neck and shoulder area.

    It turns out I have lumbar lordosis because I have an arch in my lower back and that's what's causing my pain. I've been stretching my hip flexors and stuff for two weeks and I haven't noticed too much change. I'm traveling this Friday 😥. What should I do?

      Hi TeezyFC,
      Stretching your hip flexors is great, but you need to have all the muscles in your pelvis balanced and upper legs balanced. If you go to my free website Do-It-Yourself-Joint-Pain-Relief (click the link in the video description above), go to the Site Map page, find the Pelvic Girdle Pain Relief page, and the Best Groin Stretches Page and do the follow-along videos.
      Hope that helps.
