The Z with an Ohlins Road & Track coilover kit (assuming that product is released), higher-temp brake pads, and serious tires, could be a great sports car for track use. Secondarily, a mild tune and perhaps some cooling mods like an improved intercooler, could make it more effective on track without screwing it up for the street.
@@TeensierPython You have a good point. But, there aren't many sports cars to choose from, and this car has some plusses that are absent from its competition, such as relatively light, simple ICE, double wishbone instead of McStrut, outward visibility, and a unique look some prefer. 2 things from that list, brake pads and tires, are needed by nearly every car for serious track use, and are wear items anyhow. With Ohlins you will have fantastic street and track damping, worth paying for.
Honestly most 3rd party suspension setups will probably be better for track. You can get a set of for under 2k, cooling seems sorted based on many reviews. Tires and pads are a constant consumable on track so it’s not worth factoring in to the MSRP. What I really want Nissan to do is release a tuner special with only the performance bits and 300hp for like 38k.
I'm on board with your thinking. It's easy to make a soft car harder, but no aftermarket company makes a hard car softer, so I don't mind that the factory setup is better suited for everyday driving. And the limits of the stock setup are beyond what any reasonable person should be doing on public roads anyway.

My 300ZX is one of the stiffest bodies to run on the highway, Cray computer optimized and wind tunnel specs and g-force with some updates made this one of the best 2 seaters of all time. The RX-7 Turbo 2 is the best of all 2 seaters with ultra light weight and an agility that has to be driven to be believed.

mofe like supercharged VQ if anything. Z is or was lacking power.
@@lordzed83 the 370Z wasnt lacking any power on the street lol.
The VQ in stock form is hot garbage. Sounds like ass too.
I’ve been saying it all along. Evolve the VQ that last little bit. 4.0L displacement, direct injection, make the car 3,000lbs. The car would fly.
I love and watch all your videos and want you to know that these comparison videos on the street are probably my favorite ones. With cars getting so expensive, a lot of us are dailying our track cars and it's good to get a baseline of what we are starting with. Thanks and keep it up guys.
Ugh......my prostate
I'd take the Z between these two. I'm usually more of a V8 guy, but the driving characteristics of the Z sound more fun to me. The interior is also much more straightforward and less visually overbearing.
I think it would be cool to see a comparison between the Mustang Dark Horse and the BMW M2. Both start around $60k before options
This is coming from a Mustang guy, the M2 is hands down the better option.
@xpvibe how? Aside from interior, love it.
@burgerbandit3646 I'm gonna assume better steering, suspension, brakes, horsepower/torque at wheels, still can handle 800whp, transmission, ect. But looks like crap lol
@ShreddedtotheGills Darkhorse has better brakes. As for handling and suspension, I've got no idea. The coyote is notorious for its ability to handle power and get easy power while N/A. Dont know how the 10 speed stacks up to the M2's auto. BMW typically underates their cars so I'd assume it makes more power. They're also about the same weight. I can't say one is an absolute better buy than the other as they have different strengths.
You guys are damn good - no fluff bs.
I’d take the Z, but wish there was a bit more power and was edgier.
It’s actually unbelievable how well made these vids are and how much I enjoy them
Goes the exact opposite for the cars. 🤣
Mr. Savagegeese tripping over the lift adapters @ the 12:16 mark and still leaving it in the final video edit is both savage and real at the same time.

Wonderful video, fellas! Per usual. Would love to see a send-off for the Camaro SS 1LE!
Please it deserves some spotlight so incredible for $$$
Mustang guy myself, but thats truth right there.
Yes please, but grab a 2ss and beat the piss out of it! My new 2SS has 700 miles on it and think I made a great choice for $50k.
@mmcgaa I picked up a 2SS 1LE about 7 months ago. Traded in my FK8 Civic Type R for one, and couldn't believe how much performance it has over the Type R. Completely different level of car. And it's more comfortable, which was a surprise to me. Oh yeah and gas mileage is very surprisingly good too. Literally the best performance car bargain on sale today
@ThomisticAmerican13FOX until you drive 1LE it'll ruin mustangs for you forever
I just remember when these things went for $30-$45,000…
Sad how affordable these cars used to be when I was a kid.
Inflation is a thing, check it out sometime
There's this thing called inflation.
A '91 300Z TT was ~$35,000, that's nearly $80,000 in today's money. That's not even affordable in it's day.
Why does everyone forget this?
@@OhLookItsKatamari People are stupid. Same type of person who calls their monthly payment "doable" who has a 9 year loan at 14% APR.

@@sleeksilverBecause affordable is a relation between prices and income. The income didn't rise to follow inflation. So it is not affordable like before.
The z is such an underdog. They made it work in house, not a joint project and it handles well.
Mark is impressing me more as time goes on.
Just buy a Supra. It's faster than the Z and just as fast as the Stang.
@@davothegreat9990 I’ll be buying neither brand new, but might consider one of these used. I know the Supra makes more power but, how long before bmw-esque engine longevity/reliability problems arise. No way to know just yet..
@TexasVexes the b58 zf8 combo absolutely destroys the Z. Alot more durable and reliable, especially when modding.
@TexasVexes being BMW doesn't mean the memes, they are there to manipulate your mind from now, reality of BMW thrashing Nissan comfortably
“I want to impress a lot of men on the internet” 😂 I’m impressed!
I literally own a 2019 mustang GT and a 2017 370z Nismo.
Both are amazing cars, mustang GT is clearly for straight line but does handle very well after some steeda suspension parts but the stock Nismo beats the mustang in every handling aspect.
Love this comparison tbh. It’s like they weren’t made to compete with each other but in a sense they’re direct competitors.
Even with the price increases, wish the camaro 1ss would stay, under 50k even with options or the 1le pack (2023). Comes with a tremec too, no need to upgrade to the "dark camaro", it's just stock, and handles like a beast.
Wish I could afford one
I own a 23 Nissan Z and love it. I wouldn’t mind owning the stang though. Some may not like the tech in the stang, but I can appreciate it.
The best car reviewers, best car videos, best editing, best quality in all of youtube. I will always support on the highest tier of Patreon. As usual Mark And Jack raise the bar every time. This was a perfect comparison. Both cars so similar coming from existing previous platforms, and both are offering a sporty grand touring experience, yet both are very different cars. Excellent job, also love the humor, especially the appearance of "A.I. Jack talking about the "Kids and their Video Games" That was awesome and everything that was said there was brilliant!!!!! I love both of these cars and I am a fan of both. I am happy they are both still in existence. I wish Mustang didn't go all in with the "in your face screen set up" but that is sadly the future I guess. Also, Great cinemaphotography, Amazing job, Great job guys, Thanks, Rich from PA
Refreshing video back on real roads and not just the track.
Personally I'd go with the Z over this stang. Great video!
Why is this Z looks uglier now? Man the Mustang is looking like champ!
Z looks better than any mustang
@@hpharold23looks uglier? Most humans are ugly AF. But people still marry them. XD! Looks are subject. Both are ugly to me.

Kids want cars like videogames. The same games they can't do a lap without crashing.
I’ve seen more not-yet-on-sale-S650s on the road (1) than the Z (0), which has been on sale for over a year (I think)
Prices for both are a joke.
So just throw more money at a $60k car? For the now $70k you spent on this car you could have just upgraded to a better car.
That Ohlins kit is awesome for any car they make it for, but it’s like $5,000
Honestly most 3rd party suspension setups will probably be better for track.
Yep, I'm a man and those neon green Asics impressed me--freaking sick! Great video and you guys are 100% right about the inflated prices for these cars.
Literally in Canada a 370Z was $32,000 in 2018. New Z about $70,000 for a reskin. Understand inflation but over double in 5 years for pretty much the same car. What a joke.
Love the video! Also where was this filmed? It looks like it was filmed really close to my home town!
Car prices these days are absolutely insane. In 2017 I bought a mustang GT performance pack for $32,000 Canadian.
You don’t have to go back to 2017. In 2020 I bought my gt for 33k (in México) we just blinked and prices almost doubled
THEY’RE NOT THE SAME CAR!
Great video thanks. You guys explained everything really well! I learned a lot!
$62k Mustang, some assembly required…
I live in NE Ohio and have yet to see a new Z on the road, or even at a dealership. The only one I’ve ever seen in person was at the auto show a couple years ago, and it was roped off. I’ve heard dealers are asking crazy markups on the new Z, but good luck even finding one to buy.
I just went into build and price on Ford's website, and I had no idea how freaking expensive Mustangs were becoming! A loaded out 2024 Mustang GT fastback costs $65k! I guess it's par for the course with cars these days, but wow.
Those tie rods being left loose is a ford specialty😌
So we're just gonna pass by the loose jam nuts on the mustang!? Lol wild!
Yup .. that’s why we have Labor Unions… pay those union monkeys $100 per hour in salary/benefits and loose jam nuts are the result….
RIGHT!! They HAD to have done that as a gag...lol
Sigh....... Let's hope that was a gag. Because if it was real that's a dam shame

I can’t believe that the new Mustang is basically a reskin with a remold interior instead of an actual new car. And they want 50k? No thanks.
On a separate note, love your videos and humor. Thank you!
Time to do a used McLaren vs a Macan now 😂
Fantastic job on this comparison. Can definitely appreciate both cars but the NA V8 wins me over. I wish both of these cars were about $8k cheaper when equipped with a lsd
The most Camaro looking Moostang to date! Would be perfect but I could never fill Jack's size 17s
Great video as always guys, even with being a Z fan and you guys picking the mustang over it. Personally, I plan to get the Sport Z add the things the Z needs and come out cheaper than the Performance Trim Z and much cheaper than the Mustang GT.

@@djzulumask2138why tf would I want my sports car to be bigger or roomier lmao. Im guessing you’re from the US?
For the price of the new Z, Id honestly get a used 370Z in good condition and mod it. I do not think the upgrades in the new car are worth it at that price, nor are they enough to keep it competitive.
the deadpan smile / half hearted enthusiasm that Mark put through with "I cant stop looking at the animations jack" @25:15 made me audibly laugh so hard i had to hear it twice LOL
I like the 300ZX and twin turbo much more, and updates made mine capable of far better overall performance. The best was the Hardtop which only until the last year, was only available for racing.
If only dealer markups translated to increased T-levels.
It's crazy the prices, both my father at 20 had an 86' Mustang gt and at 21 I bought an 08' Mustang gt. These were not super expensive cars, I couldn't imagine trying to afford a new Mustang at 20
I think I'd probably take the cheapest base model C8 Corvette over both of them. It's faster, better handling, and will undoubtedly have a higher resale value down the road.

Shocked at the prices of these vehicles and the fact that SG doesn't have a million subscribers yet. At around $60K I think I'd take an M2 and put a Dinan chip in it..
The new Mustang is a complete flop. The interior looks like a 90s oldsmobile with an iPad on the dash.
When a so so nissan out does a "new" mustang, you know the mustang is a flop.

Forgot to mention the Darkhorse has the good Tremec manual ,were as the Gts get the Getrag.Just thought that was a significant point, but what do I know.
I’m confused as to why you can’t use the Z daily?
with fords current history of cutting cost & endless recalls by rushing models into production YEARS before they get the bugs worked out.who in their right mind would overpay for a recall special.when the warrenty expires, your pretty much screwed.
I like the Z but I refuse to pay 2023 prices plus a dealer premium for a car with parts exclusively from 2015 nissan/infiniti. Hell, same with the GT even though it has a bit more new pieces and probably a better optimized package. These cars are kinda high

I was so excited for your take on the Mustang. I have an S550 Bullitt and I know that wasn't your fave, but I'm curious what you'll think of especially the loss of retro design on the inside and mainly loss of lot of physical switches.
Probably like with most cars and most of their fans, the new gen has yet to grow on me, but I feel like we've hit a point of no return where as much as possible must be crammed behind a screen in the name of "design" and "modernization," when we all know it's in the name of cost cutting and simplicity for the manufacturer.

Mustang 5.0 wins simple because it is faster in a straight line and more practical because it has a trunk and back seats.
