Great review as always. I think this really goes to show the chassis of the Camaro is beyond world class. The engineers outdid themselves. I'm sure the Dark Horse will be great but the 1LE is the one I would take home if I had an extra 60k. I'd do the manual, big cam, tune and exhaust. That's the dream.
100% I would also take the camaro....heads, cam, intake would be amazing on it. The camaro I bet still runs within a second or so of the dark horse. Mark my words! I bet the dark horse is about a second quicker than the ssle, and for half the price. Why wouldn't you get a camaro?? If I'm spending 70-80k. I'm getting an actual fast car, a c7 z06 or c6 zr1, not a glorified mustang gt.
The new mustangs are hideous. Except the dark horse doesn't look as bad. I didn't like the grill on this camaro as much. I like the 2018 grill better. I think the camaro looks better overall.
What you say about the mustang steering is 100% correct. I sold my 2021 5.0 GT for a 6.2 Camaro and I couldn't be happier with the upgrade. The steering and the way the Camaro attaches to your body is like the movie Avatar. And for my testing the best 0-60 I could ever muster with my mustang was 4.5 with my Camaro I ran a 4.3 1st try..

Honestly I like both for the price, but I'm to old for these types of cars now. I've had several in my years. Much faster cars, so technically neither of these are just monsters but for the price point they're awesome. Yeah, they should have put the Corvette's LT-2 engine in the Camaro for it's send-off year. The 495HP might make a difference especially considering they increased the price.
Dodge would’ve done that. Dodge also would’ve supercharged it and put it in a Camaro. And they would’ve put a supercharged LT2 in the Silverado ZR2. Unfortunately GM is succumbing to wokeness and abandoning what’s made them who they are. Makes 0 sense

I don't think poor visibility was the main issue; the main issue is the interior is cramped. I went to check one out in 2016 after it won the COTY awards. The sales people were cussing them; funny how a car can win COTY and actual buyers turn away. In contrast the S550 Mustangs got oh-hum to bad reviews and it's been a run away best seller.

I know that modifying/modified cars isn’t really your wheelhouse, but it would be really interesting to see a sort of comparison between the new Mustangs and the previous-generation model with, like, a good suspension upgrade/etc. Given how much Ford kept from the old car it would seem like a buyer could get a tremendous amount of value today by buying something used and making some smart purchases in the Mustang’s enormous aftermarket.
Question... did you ever ask yourself why the mustnag aftermarket is so large? This is from a former mustnag owner that in the past has dumped thousands and thousands of dollars into mustnags. I know the answer to the question above and wonder if you and your peers know.
@@cartilagehead Alternatively, it's because the focus on the Mustangs isn't really racing performance so you goto the aftermarket to plug that hole. I say that as a S550 Mach 1 owner. @@VagrantZero84 I think a lot of the focus on tracking cars is really misplaced, unless you happen to have $10-20k to burn on top of whatever mods/upgrades and the actual time to do it regularly. People just seem to really hate on the recent Mustangs all of the time "oh it's mostly great, but the suspension is really floppy compared to the Camaro" "oh it's mostly great but the manual on the GT isn't as strong or as nice as you can get in the pricier 'track focused' models" "oh it's mostly great but they made the gearing ratio all wrong" etc.

It's been fun watching the Mustang/Camaro lineage evolve over the past 25 years. The only thing that's baffling is paying 20-45% premium every model year refresh for a laughable 10% performance increase.
The Camaro for having an LT1 that hasn’t been touched since the year it came out in 2014 is still incredible. You can’t beat that car around a track unless you have something much more expensive. Great car.
What a joke. Putting the 1LE against a regular GT and complaining about how dull the GT is around the track. Test should have been against the SS only. Apples and oranges guys. Purpose built track car vs regular car.
This is why I’ve never had a Mustang .. to get the same track performance as SS1LE I would’ve had to go to a GT350. Great car but performance/dollar never made sense.

@@BrandonGoodwin-qz2kh And a bugatti sells less than a lamborghini does that make it an inferior car? Keep coping.
i had a mustang gt and a challenger scat pack. i was very surprised how good the new camaro ss drives. i still like my challenger the most but to be honest, the new camaro ss drives amazing 🎉
I bought my SS 1LE a few months ago based off these guys’ older review and I love it!
Best throttle house in a little while. I've been laughing at every point. Love this channel omg
These guys made the paid ad an interesting segment! ...We really are witnessing greatness in real time.
I don't think I've EVER heard carlston say anything in any video. Till he said "DAMMIT" 😂
Thank you guys it was great to see the new Mustang on the track. I will have few propositions for your leaderboard.
If you add model year of the cars to the board we can better understand what car is listed.
Secondly, lap times would be fairer if you both drive the same car and pick the best time out of those laps.
Thomas is a professional driver, hence why he drives the throttle house race spec bmw 330. That's why he always does the hot laps.
they already do that, they just skip james lol
On the board, they note the generation of the car. For example for camar as 1le, it says 6TH GEN on the right of it
I love the FP700 esp. that it's a single cab
i'll still choose my 1LE over the mustang any day!
Perfect. Time for my morning coffee ☕
The outgoing Mach1 with handling package is great on the track! I’ll just keep my 22 Mach1
I almost got one but I ended up not being able to sell one of my other cars in time, and someone else bought the Mach 1 I was looking at. Biggest regret in life besides a previous failed relationship
Mach 1 on those cup 2s is very impressive. I was ripping up GT4s in my last session in one, bone stock except X-pipe. Some lowering springs, sway bars, more aggressive camber should really make it a missile.
Love these guys! Best car channel around and funny too!
I’m a Mustang junkie, though not too fond of the newer models. I’m an S197 homeboy.
The amount of torque Chevy pulls with these pushrods is amazing. It’s a shame Chevy and Dodge are bowing out. Going to miss these versus videos.
Makes no sense that they want to cater to the boring drive cars and not to the people who purchased the cars they put their best into to.
3 min ago and 30 comments. Man this channel is legendary
FP700: when Ford realizes it's Lightning image was ruined so they made a "Lightning" package thats not a Lightning, but is.
Thumbs this up so they use 120fps+ on drag race finishes to get proper finish line shots! I love this channel!
Great drag race you guys. You always deliver. If only the Camaro would just have one more run. Oh and also the charger and challenger cause those menacing looks and the rumble in the jungle in a true v8 is the way to go no matter what setting it may be
I was shocked to hear that people think the Mustang looks bad. Seeing it in the evening sun and speeding around the track I thought it was the best looking generation of mustang (Arguable though because I really like the 2005-ish era).
It’s not bad looking but I had a chance to look at the S650 and S550 sitting next to each other at an auto show and the S650 looks bulkier, bigger, and has lost a lot of sleekness. And that rear quarter screams Camaro.
We just bought a ‘24 gt. Test drove the ss and it is small, cramped and outdated. It’s not even in the same ballpark. As the ‘24. Our son convinced her to try the gt as she was hell bent on the Camaro.
