What a consideration you got as a husband for his wife, so she can have a bit of rest. Well done young man. We must always put our wife's first. They are like little animal's that walks over our hearts with small foot prints.
Aww thankyou. I think if it had an open exhaust it may not have woke her up but I had to move it just in case haha she's wonderful and is always in my corner so I have to try and do any little things I can she really does look after me 💖 have a lovely weekend 🤗
Hi, I realy enjoyed your choice of music today and I like the "random" stuff in the videos. Btw. last year I didn't had enough blackberries for a jam, so I mixed them with plums and elderflower berries and I can tell you that was one delicious jam. Have a nice weekend, Julia.
Another interesting video .Thank you. I love Walt and Fly. What a lovely life they have with you two . Thanks again really looking forward to your next video. 😊😊😊👵🏼
Oh Dave, that dog eating blackberries 🤣🤣 It was a lovely video, thanks.. Sophia, you have my admiration.. I loathe painting and you did such a good job. Glad you are all well❤️❤️💕💕
Thankyou so much. We couldn't film everything but it was really nice we may go to the nighttime one next time as they have horses and lanterns and things and it's awesome 😎
Im a painter/carpenter.... When u want to sand walls/cellings and so on... you use a Sandpaper on a stick. aka " Pole Sander " When you paint walls and so on.... *1* - Paint 10cm out from all corners/edges/floor/outlets with a normal paint brush *2* - Once 1 is done, you get a "Roller on a stick" and paint everything els.
I was seriously considering this at first but long term when we are in the house this will be a little studio for friends and family and downstairs will be my workshop so opted to keep them seperate but that would have been awesome doing that 😊😊😊
nice video, lots of work every day, but rewarding. love Tomar, its so historical. it looks such a nice place, and al these local products, wish i had something like that here. love you guys.
Thankyou so so much it's such a nice place to live we want to visit Obidos next as it also looks amazing with lots of history I hope your having a lovely week it's sooooo hot here haha
Yep and I honestly think our calender is wrong and every year we lose a day or 2 as when I was a kid there was snow at Christmas and then after 10 years it wouldn't snow until Feb or March it feels like the seasons have shifted
You’re late for a home steader when it’s hot, the locals are out and about around h05.00/05.30 that way you suffer the heat less then go to bed after late lunch for a couple of hours.
What a lovely lovely video! Lots happening at the off grid homestead❤ was delightful you took us to the festival! And also to see Walt in the water! His breed adores water, and he'll soon enough realize he's a really good swimmer❤ Everyone knows where Sophia is with the wheel barrow😂❤ First coat of paint looks great! Exciting times! Fly is spoiled with treats🎉 I'm always googling is this safe for dogs❤ now you have to add horse to your search! The mowing looks amazing! Thank you two for sharing your week! Have a great weekend and see ya's next week!
I'm the same I'm always checking plants and foods etc. I put some peanuts out for the birds and saw fly eating one so got worried but she is okay to have the odd one and yes she gets lots of pears and carrots right now hahah. I would love Walt to be able to follow me out for a swim eventually ☺️☺️☺️
Man it was awesome but we had Walt with us next year he can stay at home as it was so busy it overwhelmed him a bit and then we couldnt really have a proper look. 🤗
Haha I felt.like Portuguese Santa on a sleigh hahah. Its a water tower I think it can hold 1000 litres so I need to hurry and install this bore hole water 💦
Heya guys, that base-coat works really well to get an even surface for the finish paint later on, great job. Fly seems to be doing very well on her new home-ground. What a nice little tour through the city, that festival looked great, sort of medieval kind of thing going on there. Is that like an annual event?? Are we going to see. the result of the jam making? Have a great week you two!!! Cheers Bert 🙏🏻❤
Heya dude yeah I think its an annual one I may go to the obidos one next year as looks epic..... You may see some jam making once I learn haha will give a small batch a try haha
You should have a look at Project Portugal u tube channel and luck and Sarah's of grid living. They both have moved to Portugal like yourself and have huge amounts of land got goat's to keep the land tidy loved there goat's but as it's known goat's are probably the hardest to keep they are great at escaping and they eat everything including treese, both channels ended up having to get rid of them. Pigs will keep the land tidy and are easy compared to goat's.
So the first question I have is, did the horse ate the lemon tree already? ahahahah and Dave you should really think about sharpening those blades on the ride on mower! Looks like it bogs down a lot when you go through that thick grass! But great job both! Your far is getting closer to be home for you two!
Hahah yes she tried a few times. Turns out it's actually a sweet like tree .... Really interesting fruit can't wait to try one. Yesss I've been meaning to sharpen them would you use an angle grinder or a file? Thanks bud
@@escapetothequinta I bet she likes it but they like anything green anyways xD well I would use an angle grinder for sure, now he question is, do you have time to spare and don't know what to do with it? in that case use a file! xD But jokes aside, you'll have a bad time working that steel with a file, it is tempered steel, use an angle grinder and be very careful to not loose the temper! the blade's and yours as well! XD
Should I take blade off and do both sides with angle grinder or can it all be done from the bottom. Also I need to get a tyre repair kit I had a piece of wire sticking in the wheel last night 😔 all challenges hahaha
@@escapetothequinta I think you should take them off yes, safer for you! But don't mess with the bottom part of the blade! only the top must be sharpened, bottom must be straight! Try to see if it as an inner tube! if you get some repair liquid or those strings that you put on the hole and it as a inner tube you'll make a bigger mess than you want!
Nick and Ang from Portugal Project have just sold their goats, because they strip barked their fruit trees and were difficult to maintain. Better to get a couple of KuneKunes, but they are also escape artists and need quite a lot of water. They also multiply by the dozen.......
@@escapetothequinta Cindy Vine has a species of South African sheep that does not require shearing and appears pretty hardy in Portugal temperatures. They also appear to have a scorched earth philosophy and eat pretty much anything. I see a bit of fencing in your future.

Loved the video, great to see you both having fun 😊 didn't see you up dancing dave maybe next 😊the town just looks beautiful😊❤😊❤
I was going to dance but left my skirt at home 🤣🤣🤣 Tomar is lovely definitely worth a visit 😁
Goats are lovely. However, they are masters of escape.
You would need to secure the paddock well.
Another lovely video from your delightful family ❤❤❤
Yes I think sheep are going to suit us better last thing I need is to be chasing goats in 40 degrees Celcius 🤣
A great video ,lovley watching you 2 xx
Thanks so so much Its comments like this that keep us making these.videos 😁

David you work so hard and its clear how passionate you are about your land keep going enjoy your videos have been watching from the start
Ahhh this has made my day on a day when things aren't going quite right so I'm super motivated again hahah thanks so much 😁😁😁😁
Really enjoyed our day together. You’re a gentle caring giant it seems. Thanks for letting me join you. 🥰🇨🇦👍👋👵
Awww thankyou so much your always welcome haha. 😊😊😊
I’m glad the sponge worked!
Thankyou so much Rosalee it worked a treat 1 owe you one
Had a chuckle seeing you on your mower. You must be really tall! 😉
Hahah I am tall but not super tall I'm 6'3 but mower is pretty small on me hahaha. I need to win the lottery and buy a proper one but they are 5k 🥺😬
Oh Dave, that dog eating blackberries 🤣🤣
It was a lovely video, thanks..

I'm the same I hate painting especially when you can't see which bits you've painted 🤣🤣🤣
Love the Tomar bits! And everything else as always.

Can you make a staircase from the insude at the back of top floor to go down to the bottom back of the house

Its super strange here too earlier in the car said 45..... It must have been a mistake surely 😯

WOW great idea for transport
What is the round building in your property

Nice mower.
Thankyou. Its small and slow but does cut it well 🤗
If you cover your paint tray in cling-film when ypu finish using it remove the film and you have a clean paint tray.
Great idea I've been putting them in bin bags hahaha thankyou 😄😄😄

1 subscriber hahaha more likely to burn the house down though I did make a nice pasta sauce last night from home grown tomatoes 🍅
@@escapetothequinta that’s what it’s all about, homegrown tomatoes and what not!!! Living the life!!!
That's it buddy it's so good. Side salad with fresh lettuce from garden, pasta sauce with fresh tomatoes and basil from the garden it felt epic man
Beautiful home! Sad that it’s been suffocated by the big apartment building next door.
There's no apartments by us just a few houses 🏘️
@@escapetothequinta I get it but not all of us like that and no parking and no yard. It’s still a very pretty house I’m not putting it down.

Yes I think your right I think sheep are the way forward. Everyone says goats are lovely but a nightmare hahah
Has your horse got shelter hope so yes I see it
Yes she has an open shelter which gives loads of shade but also a nice cool breeze she loves it (I think and hope) 😊
Hope you can change the topic of the actual heading of your post to an OFF grid homesteader, not too late?
How come have I spelt something wrong haha

Please do a lot of research on owning goats. They're not easy and many people end up giving them away because they're not worth the trouble. 💚
