If you do a flat top add a small beam of wood for a mantle ❤. You could also do a small side course to add a wide mantle would really make it good luck x

I wonder if a set of shelving each side and including the shelf right across the top of the fire, made from old wood sleepers would finish that wall off beautifully. Just a suggestion, love what you have done so far. 😍
Just a thought guys, maybe make a mantle by going taller and a bigger board and side boards. Wonderful for xmas displays and photos of little ones when they come. Just a thought.🎅🤶🧑🎄
There is a gap behind so any heat doesn't transfer to the actual wall but the mantle piece will tie it all in. This is what I had to make sure it was done properly as it's a floating wall I didn't want it to fall over haha it's super solid though now but the mantle will finish it off I think and make it even more secure. Just need to find the perfect piece of wood now ☺️

Thanks for the concern but there is a 3 inch slab of concrete on the floor I'm sure nothing is getting through there haha but next time I will be doing it outside as I don't want to gas myself out down there haha. Thanks for watching

I've always loved the look of old red bricks, probably as I was raised in Bournville England so was surrounded by them ha. My old man rest his soul was a bricky so I hope he would be proud. Me and you are thinking alike with the mantle I want some that will protrude on the sides and front but reach all the way back to the wall so it sort of holds it all tight.
