Also Dave I meant to suggest (farmers trick as you are now in that category) attach keys on key ring to a piece wire then screw a little hook on Edwina (approx 6”away from keyhole) put another key ring on end of wire and put over hook. If keys fall out they are not going anywhere until you take them off hook yourself. Saves a lot of digging around looking for them. Cheers Shirley
awesome, don't be shy in seeing what the land can offer, 25 years is a fine resting period. helás, weather might be a problem, fingers crossed. stay strong 🤠😎
I also like the looks of no till, but it sure seems better results for those with time on their hands. Tractor does look fun , though. Also jealous of fields, all the best!
I do want to explore some no till but in a way which works well financially and for the land ice seem people but cardboard and tons of compost but the cardboard alone can be 100 euros for a role so it's not really practical and not something you'll see a Portuguese farmer doing. Once we have a good supply of manure rotting down and the left over wheat stalks then I think for sure we can try this ☺️☺️☺️
It’s looks great!! I wish you much success in your wheat growing venture!! Hopefully in May you can make some nice bread😊. The scarecrow is hilarious 🤣. I think you should name him Bob and write his name on his hat. 😆
Hahah I like Bob! Yes fresh organic homemade bread could be amazing! If the wheat grows. It's going to be organic so I hope the wheat grows before the weeds do 🤣
Hi from Canada 🇨🇦. Happy to see you riding successfully on Eddy! How far have you come since your beginning on the land. That fallow field should yield great rewards. And with the weather forecast, good luck. Fun to see your little farm. You need chickens 🐓 though. 😁👵👋🥰
Ah I really hope so. I'm not using any fertilizer so I hope the land is rich enough and yes we definitely need chickens the plan is to get some in December 😊😊😊 🐥 thanks so much for watching 😊
Oh Sophia, men and there toys😊 well dave what a great job you have done it's great 😊dave you can't charge the tractor any rent it's really useful isn't it 😊❤😊
I almost feel I need to reward it with a new alternator haha. It needs an alternator a timing belt and a radiator hose as it's leaking BUT it's 150 euros I don't have. Maybe I'll give him a clean instead hahhaha
Mine does extend from 80-120mm I think if that's what's you mean other then that I'm lost I'm still trying to figure it all out. I wouldn't say it's complex but the information for this sort of stuff isn't exactly stamped on the tractor you know haha ice had to google what the best gears are to use. I've been tilling in pto setting 1 and brush cutting in setting 2 and driving in either 1st or 2nd gear ⚙️ 😊😊😊
Don't worry about a bit of ploughing, turning over. It won't harm your no dig method in the future. It is necessary at times especially after 25 years. You could plant a cover crop in there like red clover. This will change clay forever. I thought it looked a bit like Chucky!. So maybe Chucky-Dave...?
That's what I was thinking. Just breaking everything up doing a crop and then try some no dig thanks dude!!!! Oh we may have a winner.with chucky that's a great name ☺️
Hi Dave and Sophia, how nice to see that this tractor is making your work so easy, hope you get a lot of wheat. are you planning to make your own bread?
Thankyou!!!!! Yes the plan is ..... It may be a day dream but we would love to harvest the wheat and then try and not buy bread for a year..... Wouldn't that be ace
Ha...how good is that little tractor, that was some good work prepping that field. All ready for the W*** 😂😂😂 The scarecrow looks amazing!!! Any news coming from the borehole?? Cheers Bert 🙏🏻❤
I haven't got any chickens yet but I think I will get some chicken manure pellets and when the wheat is complete I will definitely have chickens then so will let them work the area eat any dropped.seeds and fertilize it for.the next crop. I was thinking of doing onions, garlic, leek and beet in there next 😊

Ahhhh yes I love it I definitely need to do that. If I was brush cutting I would have destroyed the key hahaha thankyou so much
I like the sound of that Dave the farmer, there's no stopping you now Sophia I like your scarecrow
Awwww thankyou so much. Always inspiring words from you 🙏🏻🙏🙏🏻🙏
It's really great to see you using the tractor and it's running sweet. It makes light of something that you wouldn't be able to do otherwise.👌❤️
I was planning on digging it by hand..... I realise now that would not have worked hahha
My gosh, it’s a retired Jockey❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thankyou. A nice rain storm could be perfect for germination
Nice to see everything is working out! Bread on the way! xD
I really hope so..... I just hope the wheat starts before the weeds

great job guys.
Thankyou 😊
Hi Gypsum is known to be a good at breaking down clay. If you’re up to it ploughing some gypsum into the field to improve the soil.
Oh really wow. Once the wheat is done this may be interesting to try i will do some research thankyou 😊😊😊

We are going to call you farmer Dave from now on.
I take that as a badge of honour. Thankyou 😁😊😄🙏🙏🙏
I think Kermit would be a great fit. He does look a little froggy.
Hahahaha he does doesn't he with that big head 😂
He is so cute
Thankyou 😁😊😊
You should look into getting an adjustable PTO shaft!!!

Great work in the field. I think it might be good to tie some crinkly plastic to his hands to have both a visual and auditory “fright” factor.
Ahhhh yes that's a great idea 💡 maybe he needs a cape too hahah

Yee you ARE a real farmers now It turned out to be a good scarecrow, you get empty birds now on your farm.😅Scary Berry!
Hahahahh thankyou
Mortimer is a good name for him I think. Sort of a bit wooden and stiff lol. ❤❤
Hahaàhhhhh that's clever 🤣🤣🤣
Hi Dave and Sophia, how nice to see that this tractor is making your work so easy, hope you get a lot of wheat. are you planning to make your own bread?

@@escapetothequinta that would be great, your own organic bread!
Yeah I can wait, I haven't really made bread before either so that will be an interesting part of it too
❤❤❤❤❤❤
😍😍😍

You know what, I need to speak clearer because a few people thought I said weed hahahaaha. I need to pimp up the scarecrow a little more ha
Try another taller post behind Tom the scarecrow to secure him the wind 💨
Yes I don't won't to go up there and see him laying down on the job ha
yes!!
🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🔥🔥🔥
Dave, how are feeling g about the new man in Sophia life 😊😊😊😊😊
He doesn't talk much but he does have good stamina he's been standing in that field for 2 days straight 🤣
The neighbours will be rolling their eyes at those peculiar Pomms. Did you find the keyss or did I miss that bit?
I found them on the floor by where I started her just as I was putting it away.... Very lucky, I was panicking they would be tilled into the ground ha
I think he needs a bright red scarf because red stands out
Yessssssss I need to find one han
May have to have a rummage in Sophia's wardrobe 😂😂😂
Might want to put some aluminum pie pans dangling from each hand on the scarecrow the movement scares the birds.
Ahhhh thats a great idea. I have some.aluminium tape I will try that. I may have one aluminium pan I can use too ☺️
Are you getting any manure from the horse yet, if so compost it ready for you next summer sowing
We have a big muck heaps so we can use it in spring I can't wait hahaha
Worzel Gummidge
Hahha great name ☺️
I'd call him Freddy :)
🤣🤣🤣🤣 get him a Freddy Kruger jumper ha
If you have the opportunity please let the chickens work that patch over before you sow,
I haven't got any chickens yet but I think I will get some chicken manure pellets and when the wheat is complete I will definitely have chickens then so will let them work the area eat any dropped.seeds and fertilize it for.the next crop. I was thinking of doing onions, garlic, leek and beet in there next 😊
You just have to get water from your well in use somehow and the real farming begins
Yes you are 100% right
Freddie x
I need a Freddie Kruger jumper if he is going to be called that haha
Did you find your keys?
Yes luckily on the floor in the barn they fell out straight away. I am definitely doing your idea though 😊😊
Did you find the keys? Do you have a friend with a metal detector?
Luckily I found them they were right by the barn ..... I got lucky
How about Lester?
That's a good one!!!!
Scarecrow or Freddie Kruger?
Freddie is a good name for it 🤣🤣🤣
@ it actually reminded me of Freddie Krueger. Steven is a good name
I think his name should be Tilly
Ahhh I like that, that's clever 😀
How about BUGGABOO for his name?
Hahahah a like that. I have a few more accessories to give him i still think we can do a better job 😉
Why wheat?
So we can make some home made bread and pizzas! I'm hoping we get enough grain for a year's worth of bread 😊😊😊
@@escapetothequinta you guys are so sweet. Love your energy ❤️
tractor from 1971 ?!
I think not may be a bit newer then that maybe 80,s I think the tiller is from the 70s though 😊
