I say never give up. I have been working since I was twelve years old and now I am 67. I have had careers as a teacher and as a librarian and now that I have finally retired, I am launching my real work, writing histories of American frontier women and traveling around in a vintage RV doing my research. Finally my kids are grown and through college, my spouse is drawing a tiny social security check and I a tiny teacher's pension, our house and vehicles are all paid off and we can, minimally, now afford to live the way we want to live and do things we've always wanted to do. If you are supporting a family, or taking care of others, you may not be able to do this while you are young. But never give up. Instead, plan ahead and stay in great shape, physically and mentally, and you can get there, even if it takes decades.
Volunteering has been prescribed to me by therapists more than once. It truly works better than an anti-depressant for me. Nothing beats working with others to make the world better.
I used to think that getting a degree and a dream career is what success would be about. Recently I realized that all that was what people around me expected of me. Not what I really cared for but what I had been chronically conditioned to believe I needed. Now I truly think the most successful thing to achieve is to create my own slow homestead with as few needs as possible. No hustling, no ambitions, no stress.
The last 7 years I learned, you don't need to go tiny to get out of the rat race. You can stop consuming however you live. You can stop wasting money in buying useless things. You can start growing your own food in nearly every garden, even on a balcony. Or you can collect fruits as berries, apples, pears, nuts and so on outside in nature. You can easily get used to need less without building a tiny house or van. It's not the outer form but the inner way you choose. I'm so glad working only 3 days in my "normal" job. Of course I would earn much more money, if I would work fulltime, but why?
You've had me until the very end. People work full-time to raise their families and provide for them. There is dignity in work. That being said, I agree that the tiny house movement and off grid living fad is unnecessary. A minimalist lifestyle, gardening, making the most of what you have already can deliver the same thing in a much more rightly ordered way
You still have to pay rent gas electrical though. My rent and utilities come to 700 a week. Its insane. Thats nit even food and transport. Going tiny and if grid frees you up from so much. Your also learning survival skills.
Of grid isn't for everyone. Not for me. Very rudimentary and harsh lifestyle. I prefer to use my time for other things than survival, every day. We've come so far as a human race, to be able to live with certain confort, water and electricity, a washing machine,🙏 etc... I had to wash everything by hand for years, before!!😓 So, that's a no goer, for me!! I enormously enjoy the simple confort I have every day. Don't need to collect water, no need to heat it, be in the cold, etc... Such a luxury, I'm so ever grateful for that !!🙏 Eventhough one still has to do house chores, cooking, and so on. One neither needs to have kids. We're already over populated. Better to adopt, or invest time in giving or doing good deeds to others and animals. Forest, animals and nature are vital for me. I love being in nature, and go out a lot, far into nature. I consume very little, much less than most. I recycle, upcycle, and get food from nature or alternative shops for way less than that I would do having my own crops. I have a little garden. But, mostly for the biosystem. Plants, flowers, a little veggies. I don't work 9-5. Choose to work less. Lots of jobs don't have those type hours, anymore, anyway. Only mostly office jobs, which are changing too. I need to be in a equiped town for various reasons, mostly health (I was born with) and also I don't want to own a big petrol driven car. So uneconomical and not ecological. Never needed one, really. Bicycle, or other type of electrical or sun powered small two or four wheelers are great, and public transportation is quite fine. One needs to change inside, the outside follows. Luckily we can choose quite a lot, nowadays.🙏🌟

We are taught to consume..consume..consume. We need very little to be happy…I live in Los Angeles..almost everyone in big giant cars. This lifestyle has so many benefits and eliminates so much trash! Thanks for sharing your story.❤
I used to live in LA .Then last month I moved to my home country and living with my parents helping my father to grow his business.I’m so happy that I took this decision to leave a life where I used to work 5 days to live 2 days in a week . Now I’m enjoying everyday .Less money but happy life .
Los Angeles is a toxic mess. It has become an open air mental asylum and full of aggressive people. Materialistic minded people are the reason. It all started when the Armenians and Saudis started arriving and engage in inflation manipulation schemes to drive costs in housing, rent so that we can feed their materialistic overconsumption. Not only that we have to deal with their aggressiveness on the road and in stores in public. System of a Down's Toxicity was in fact talking about how they made LA into a toxic mess.
There is so much in this video that speaks a truth about like minded people. I think that for me, the biggest frustration I have is that no one in my life understands what I am feeling and my way of looking at life and how I live it. I would like to from a small community where we can share and help one another with our lifestyle.

@@dennynisevic7848 I agree. Where in SC would you suggest I look for the best land deal? I'm a single disabled vet and can pay cash. It would be nice to find a place with a Yurt already set up since I could never do it myself.

I am sure there are more and more people around the world who want to change their life for something less stressful and more responsible for the environment and the nature. I live in a tiny home as well on a farm nestled in a forest. I love your video. I am still trying to find a way to make it all work. As I am renting and don't have a land to work and dream from. Love what you have done and your view on life. New here. Can't wait to watch more. 🙂
The tiny living lifestyle you've embraced is inspiring, especially your approach to blending work with environmental consciousness! Your journey into self-sufficiency not only enhances personal well-being but also sets a sustainable example for others. 🌿
I have the same coffee grinder as you! And that dog is such a good companion, I can tell:) Your house is super cool & your plants are SO green & healthy😊-a very nice job!
Loved your story ! Unfortunately, I spent too many years in offices, under fluorescent lights, not being as brave as you. But am now retired and spend a lot of time in nature , living a minimalist life and eat vegan. Just so admire you for what your are doing. Along with this lifestyle, comes a mindset of being abstemious and thinking about the planet too.
Yes, so much hard work, but so well worth it. Nature's rainbow bounty is the kindest and healthiest way to eat. Wild strawberries and raspberries? Yes, please. I really admire how he was able to use his passion to create a living and in doing so helping to educate others as well. I can also appreciate what a grind it can be at times, too. Work is work, after all. Such a gorgeous and idyllic location and you can't beat a lifestyle filled with healthy eating & movement, a calm and peaceful environment and a good dog by your side. Wishing this young man and his pup a long and happy life together.
Amazing. Don't worry about people's opinions , there are millions of different opinions & we can't please everyone, so just please yourself. One life xx
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. I like that you show parts of your life that are not just building/gardening/foraging. And that you talk about getting other sources of income and volunteering.
This is peaceful living. If enough people start being self sufficient and not solely rely on corporations for income. Only then the workers can create some sort of leverage. I'm a hard worker, but these last fews years. I'm overwhelmed with work along personal responsibilities. Then the high cost of living to exist in society. Just working to pay bills, only having small amount of free time. I have my own plans on being self reliant, thank you for sharing part of your journey. I enjoyed your video, the nature scenery is calming.

very inspiring and this video has given me more hope that tiny living is indeed a path that I can pursue with my wife. It's been challenging getting through the mental hurdle of redefining what work and making a living looks like when moving away from the hustle and bustle of city life. thank you.

Wow thanks😊And you’re very welcome! One of my biggest inspirations regarding worklife-design is actually from australia - Katherine Gibson from Melbourne University I think is was! So I’m also grateful - hope to come back downunder some time🏜️
I am 65 now and still working. At least, I and my wife live on 5 acres north of the small city where I work. We have a greenhouse, barn and duck pomd, not independent yet, but working on it still. I applaud you friend, for figuring how to do it. Good luck with your future endeavours!
I'm envious of your lifestyle. Your timing for moving in, in Spring of 2020 couldn't have been better considering the pandemic. I live in a small, old, rustic, A Frame cottage overlooking a small lake just outside of my hometown in southwestern Nova Scotia. I love it. But I would trade it for an old cabin in the woods in a heartbeat if I only could. Now it's time to start watching your videos from the beginning.
Interesting story! I totally agree, life off the grid, far from the hustle and bustle of the developed world, is so fulfilling. I also moved from USA to rural Kenya, not so long ago. And I started a UA-cam channel documenting my relocation journey.
Really connected to this. Humans weren't ment to be in a 9-5 getting screwed over, over Consuming, eating food that is 90% Poison.. and so on makes me happy that people are waking up. We are all capable of doing this. It just may take more time than others. ❤
Thank you for sharing this beautiful life with us, I also live in a tiny in BC Canada and highly recommend those who are called to find a way to take the leap it's very rewarding. Much gratitude to you.
It takes courage to live according to our inner calling. Agreed to start patially, getting some income n eventually move into it full pledge. May God bless you with abundant blessings 🙏
After traveling for a couple years I started feeling more at home in the countryside, no matter which country I visited. Then during the pandemic I visited a little Himalayan village and I am still here after 3.5 years. I run a hostel here and live the life I want. Low living costs, in the middle of nature, simple life and I still write software, but my software work now comes second after my relaxed lifestyle.
I'm so happy for you man! I have same plan to change my life style and be a part of mother nature as well. Spending time amongst trees is the best a human been can ever get. Not much time left till im there too, so cheers to the good change brother cheers🎉🎉🎉

I work 2-10pm Monday-Friday. Love this as I have all morning to do what I want. Love what you are doing and sharing your journey with us. All the best with all your projects.
What a great way to live. At 43, I'm also out of the rat race. I have a tiny garage garden filled with tropical plants. Your setup is what I aspire to get to someday. Cheers man! 💪😎
Its been three years since I retired, and while inflation has made it challenging to maintain my lifestyle and even worse when I lived in the city, relocating to the countryside has helped to manage better, its lonely, as most of my friends and family are still in their routines but It's been easier to stretch my savings and hopefully, I won't outlive it
I’m nearing retirement myself, and I had similar concerns. I started investing later than most, and just relying on ETF compounding wasn’t cutting it for me. After working with a financial advisor, I managed to restructure my investments and am now on track to retire with around $4 million. If I hadn’t sought advice, I doubt I’d be as confident in my plan right now
I usually steer clear of recommending specific people because financial needs are so personal. But I can say that working with Emily Ava Milligan has made a world of difference for me. I noticed her strategies are tailored to fit personal goals and make sense for different needs. It might be worth exploring to see if her approach resonates with you
My husband and I left our full-time jobs and moved 1800 miles away and bought a house sight unseen except for the video and photos! We have been here for almost a year. We are building a small house on the property to reduce our cost of living. It will be completely off grid eventually. We are also creating a forest garden as our property is very overgrown! We currently have 5 hens and a rooster and will be revamping a small shed into a mini barn to house the chickens as well as some goats and rabbits. Later maybe we will add some kune kune pigs! We will be installing water catchment and solar. My husband is 50 and retired. I am 54 and work as a substitute teacher a few times a month. We go fishing, cook by scratch, and love life. In this process we have discovered that less is more! Anders thank you for sharing stay blessed!
@@Rkok94 LOL no we have lots of entertainment and social things to do. I still work a few days a month as a substitute teacher. We have a neighbor we visit with. We go to church. We go to the Senior Center for dinners about once a week. It costs $6 per person if you are not a senior. You get homemade soup, a salad bar, beverage (coffee, tea, milk, or water) dessert and the entree of the day. Tomorrow is the city wide rummage sale. We have a library with lots of free activities. We have hiking trails 2 blocks from our house and a ski hill 1.5 blocks away. We have lakes less than 2 miles away and a river 1 mile away to fish in! So no we do not get lonely!
I love how the animals in the forest must feel safe near you. That is my wish, to have a place where wildlife feels safe and that I can keep it that way into perpetuity. I am in the US, in Florida, and am watching the natural habitat be destroyed and it’s killing me to see it. I know that your way of life is a LOT (understatement of the year) of hard work. I love learning from you. Thank you so much for sharing your life. And big hugs and belly rubs to your dog. ❤
I wouldn't want to live like this, I'm way too materialistic, and I'm not unhappy with it, but I love watching these videos and see people thrive living this lifestyle. It just shows how diverse people can be and usually it's people who were unhappy in their dayjobs, seeing you escape from that into what makes you comfortable is just awesome.
I appreciate your honesty. It is true that we are diverse and may find that we have different needs in terms of how we live. I would enjoy this life, whereas my daughter is more of the type to want city living. I believe it's the single most important task.... to find our version of happy, satisfy our soul calling. It's a journey, not a destination. Blessings -

I'm from Fiji and I recently went to New Zealand and I got a shock that the cost of living is so high in NZ. Rent bills n all other crap costs. I am a chilli farmer in Fiji I produce n sell n it's my income. We grow our own food. No rent no mortgage. Free life.
Do this now. Quit my 7-3/6 days a week job. Went to nightshift weekends 2-3 days get 4-5 days off during the week. Only pay rent gas electric in my cottage. Grow my garden and flowers paid off everything. Now travelling with my kids. Life is good! Never go back to the regular.
If you pay rent, you didn't "pay off everything". What did you pay off? Nothing of importance it sounds like. If you don't even own your home, your still at start where all 18 year olds are.
This way of life can be so beneficial to society as well because it enables you time to spend being in community and volunteering in your area. Investing in your community can be a huge blessing for yourself and for others.
I have been on and off interested in tiny houses/alternative homes over the years and I always seem to come back to them and this pull to just… be outside and garden and take care of a few animals. I still want to be a small part of society and have friends and such, not gonna be the crazy man alone in the woods! But I really crave being out there and doing my thing. I have to go to school next year, but I will spend my school years preparing and planning for the life I want to live someday. Thanks for showing me how you’re living, it’s good to hear your perspective and to be aware of all the hard work ahead. The biggest headache right now is wrapping my head around the laws of my region and the finances. Thanks man, from a friend in Virginia!

Greetings from Hungary! I really enjoyed your video, you radiate a great positive energy. I look forward to seeing more of your videos.
I love Hungary. Orban is the best friend of Russia. I hope our folks will have a friendship forever. Orban and Putin are power.
Mr. you are shining a positive energy! Thank you for the inspiration. All the best from Serbia
I really support this kind of living life as peaceful and to be with yourself. More so close to nature🌿🍃🌿🍃 is absolutely wonderful.
Hello from Michigan! Loved your video, thanks for explaining how you make it work. Hope to get my own tiny house some time soon
Dude, you can get anything if you pray to God and don't eat meat.
Thanks for the visual treat. I live in crowded, hot and humid South Carolina USA. What a refreshing change is your beautiful country and lifestyle. You are blessed indeed.
SC has lots of affordable land. Move and build tiny in the woods.
S C is my ❤ , but yes, it is getting soooo crowded.I came from Croatia 25 years ago and I looove South. People , food , culture, nature, but is getting so crowded everywhere
@@dennynisevic7848 I agree. Where in SC would you suggest I look for the best land deal? I'm a single disabled vet and can pay cash. It would be nice to find a place with a Yurt already set up since I could never do it myself.
I have lived in SC most of my life. So many damn people everywhere now! I have no idea where they all came from. For a world where the birth rates are plummeting it sure doesn't seem like it to me.
@@richarddharrison2 I mean if you're saying its crowded, hot and humid, maybe go near spartanburg. Should alleviate those things a bit and you stay in the same state.
I think you completely understood the meaning of life! Congratulations! I just discovered your channel and it is a real pleasure to follow you. I am sure there are more and more people around the world who want to change their life for something less stressful and more responsible for the environment and the nature. Thanks for what you have done ...
Thanks!! Really appreciate it💚
I live in a tiny home as well on a farm nestled in a forest. I love your video. I am still trying to find a way to make it all work. As I am renting and don't have a land to work and dream from. Love what you have done and your view on life. New here. Can't wait to watch more. 🙂
Thanks! Stay tuned…😊
This reminds me of my grandmother. I live in the states and we use to do this. But I use to make fun because I was young. But now I love it.
The tiny living lifestyle you've embraced is inspiring, especially your approach to blending work with environmental consciousness! Your journey into self-sufficiency not only enhances personal well-being but also sets a sustainable example for others. 🌿
I have the same coffee grinder as you!
And that dog is such a good companion, I can tell:)
Your house is super cool & your plants are SO green & healthy😊-a very nice job!
Do you know dogs came from space?
I applaud you. Very dedicated and impressive lifestyle.
Such lifestyle only for lazy and losers. Really man should work hard and achieve purposes.
I have just come upon your channel, you have such a wonderful well balanced life, brought on by your hard work and endurance, you are an inspiration.
Thanks!!😊
Thank you so much! We hope so too😊
Doing the same here in canada! My first summer was in a hammock! A lot of my food was wild edibles!
Amazing.
Don't worry about people's opinions , there are millions of different opinions & we can't please everyone, so just please yourself. One life xx
Thanks for your inspiration. I did the move last December it's challenging adjusting but totally worth it, eventually the peace of mind sweeps you.
Very proud of you!

Wow, thanks, so kind of you to say!😊
Beautiful Haven, glad I found your channel, enjoyed.

The man living a way more simple life than most yet having so much more to live for
Beautiful video! Thank you brother! All the love and peace to you and all living beings❤️☮️🙏🏻

It's been challenging getting through the mental hurdle of redefining what work and making a living looks like when moving away from the hustle and bustle of city life. thank you.
I always find the people from your part of the globe so solid and intelligent! Thank you for sharing your wonderful happy, green life. Warm wishes and good health to you and your companion from The Dandenong Ranges, Down Under. 🌻🍀🐞

That's duck pond.
Salutes to you, brother! You have achieved a dream of mine, which maybe one day I may pursue. Thank you for being an inspiration!
You’re welcome!😊
Excellent videography, music and editing. Fantastic introduction and fabulous content. Vielen Dank, Anders! Peter
Thank you so much😊
Interesting story!

Thank you! So happy to hear that - and yes, totally agree!
This is inspirational
Write a book. Wow. That would help and provide. You have so much knowledge and information of value. Amazing lesson today. Loved it.
Investing in your trees instead of the stocks was so refreshing to hear!
You will eat the fruit of your labor, my friend!

Thanks!

What a great way to live. At 43, I'm also out of the rat race. I have a tiny garage garden filled with tropical plants. Your setup is what I aspire to get to someday.
Cheers man! 💪😎
It's definitely a lot of work but quite balanced ❤ When I've had 3 jobs it was great.
I hope your channel grows and you're able to get some good income from youtube as well. Appreciate you being out there, brother. Stay well!
Thanks!! It’s getting better day by day now😊👌
Its been three years since I retired, and while inflation has made it challenging to maintain my lifestyle and even worse when I lived in the city, relocating to the countryside has helped to manage better, its lonely, as most of my friends and family are still in their routines but It's been easier to stretch my savings and hopefully, I won't outlive it
I’m nearing retirement myself, and I had similar concerns. I started investing later than most, and just relying on ETF compounding wasn’t cutting it for me. After working with a financial advisor, I managed to restructure my investments and am now on track to retire with around $4 million. If I hadn’t sought advice, I doubt I’d be as confident in my plan right now
I’m trying to figure out the best approach for my portfolio. How did you find your advisor? I feel like I need that kind of guidance
I usually steer clear of recommending specific people because financial needs are so personal. But I can say that working with Emily Ava Milligan has made a world of difference for me. I noticed her strategies are tailored to fit personal goals and make sense for different needs. It might be worth exploring to see if her approach resonates with you
Thanks for that. I did a quick search and found her page. I was able to email so I sent over a few questions to get more info. Appreciate you sharing
@@MarjorieRyanJoy ahhh the good old scams
How do you deal with the social part? Do you get lonely or something along those lines?
@@rachaelsupadventures How do you deal with hospital need ect? Or are you still in the city area?
It Sounds great, except planning to have rabbits, they will eat all your wegies, they even dig under the fence, they are unstoppable.

So glad to hear that - Thank you sp much☺️
Great video! Very Impressive. This is what peace and happiness is all about. Kudos!

Amazing video! Thank you for sharing. Look forward to seeing your other videos
You’re welcome😊Thanks!
This is such a dream life that I wanted, no need to rush and everything is calm.
How inspiring! Please don't burn out. You're awesome!
Blessings -

That's lifestyle I want also. I am from China and visited Europe 2 times and it changed my mind for living. I bought a piece of land in Hungary and will do pretty much the same like you in the video.😊
Ouch Hungary is soooo far behind on lots of stuff though. It’s not comparable with Denmark in most sense.

I'm from Fiji and I recently went to New Zealand and I got a shock that the cost of living is so high in NZ. Rent bills n all other crap costs. I am a chilli farmer in Fiji I produce n sell n it's my income. We grow our own food. No rent no mortgage. Free life.
As a New Zealander, I always warn people about the high cost of food here. The cost of living is so expensive that people are constantly stressed now.
@@caravanlifenz I'm under impression that NZ has lots of lands suitable for farming/self sustaining life? No?
Yes we do have lots of land but you need lots of money usually to purchase it 🌻
Do this now. Quit my 7-3/6 days a week job. Went to nightshift weekends 2-3 days get 4-5 days off during the week. Only pay rent gas electric in my cottage. Grow my garden and flowers paid off everything. Now travelling with my kids. Life is good! Never go back to the regular.
congratulations
