If you aren’t from Kosovo then you would think you can basically buy a car with that money because it’s easy to get, but to us Albanians, oh god.... don’t get us started on how hard it is for us
Compared to 2016 in Euro's Albania became a bit more expensive in 2018 due to the conversion rate (from 135 to 125 Leks/Euro) while the prices in Leks were more or less the same. A regular Korça beer (0,5L) was around 150 leks everywhere (Vlorë, Sarandë, Shkodër, Korçë, Pogradec, the cities we were in 2016 and 2018), which means that a beer rose from €1,11 to €1,20 in two years time.
Yeah stuff is pretty cheap over here at Albania, the problem is the salary is pretty broken and we have advanced quite late into the modern era. Also Albania is quite beautiful as a country.
in august i got 138lek per euro probably depends on area and season, did you google the rate or did you actually went to an exchange store? banks have the worst exchange rates keep in mind, exchange stores are usually located next to bus station
i appreciate your concern and input! this is the official exchange rate, and i would not know what exchange store or banks give because i never have to use them. where were you when you got 138lek?
I’d like to add something here dear Turist, I really appreciate the fact that you showing in this video how cheap are groceries and coffe, and some other items sure. This attracts more tourists, and Albania isn’t a bad country at all, there’s a lot of places ppl would be amassed to see. But the maximum wage for an Albanian is around 250 thousand lek, wich is around 250 $ a month, in your country you make 10 times more, you make 2500$ a month. I don’t see how albania would be so cheap for albanian ppl, not to mention that the fuel is more expensive than almost anywhere in the world. Every tourist is welcome and they can deal with the prices here, but I don’t see how albanian ppl gonna deal with it. Maximum albania wage here it’s barely to survive. Thanks again for visiting Albania.
+Marjan Gjoka I’d appreciate it if you checked your facts next time before commenting. I do, in fact, work in Albania. I am not a tourist. I do not make even close to $2500/month. And nowhere in the video did i say anything was cheap, I merely showed what could be bought for €10. Anyway, thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it. Again, not visiting. I live and work here.
James Leithart , you seemed a tourist to me, im very sorry if i had the wrong impression, and im very glad you live in 🇦🇱 and hope you get along with it, i just saw this video randomly, and I subscribed your channel, bc i like the fact that you feel good in here, and never meant anything bad i guess did i? I know you didn’t said that albania was cheap, but you when you figured how many products or services you can get with 10 € it meant cheap prices to me, I guess you compared the prices with your home country , somehow you Told on video how cheap is in here, nothing bad or wrong in here, i just added a comment on your video, good luck man and God bless you. 💯
+Marjan Gjoka no harm done! i just wanted to make sure you realized i lived here and didn’t just come through as a tourist! i do appreciate the comment and the views, and of course thank you so much for subscribing! i hope to see you comment on other videos as well 🙏
How much do I need per day at the beach assuming I already have where to stay? I'm planning a 2 weeks visit to the Albanian coast side this summer and don't know what budget to prepair. I'll be rideing my motorcycle ;) Thank you!
Unfortunately, I'm not sure how much you will need per day at the beach because I haven't spent any time there yet. Also, the prices will change from what they are now when summer comes. If you send me a message on Instagram (@jamesleithart) i can respond to your question in a few weeks after i've been to the coast! I would love to help out!
A lot of it depends on which "beach" you are planning on visiting and what you plan on doing while you are there. From Duress, Golem and Kavaje in the north, to Vlore, Sarande and Ksamil in the south. I have been to all of them and would be happy to pass on any advice. My favourite has to be Sarande, if you have the motorcycle you will be able to visit Butrint National Park, Syri i Kaltër (Blue Eye), take a day trip to Corfu....
I would like to visit Vlore, Sarande and Kamsil, 5 days each. Thank you! Overall we just want to sit at the beach, visit some historical sites and museums. No nightlife or other things like that. We don't drink alchool... no fancy restaurants.

Have you visited The city of Berat , , or ancient City of Apolonia and Butrint , I think you will like it ...
+Reij46 Kap i haven’t yet! but i’m making plans to see Berat, for sure.
@@JamesLeithart There is a really nice restaurant in Berat we went to a couple of years ago, I will try and find the name and pass it on.

Part 2 please 👍
Such a great video! So engaging and interesting and well rounded! Man, I want to go there and feel "rich"! Stuff costs a lot more here in Sweden! Also, "I'm lactose intolerant!" Funny!
in albania the basic salary is 400 thousand lek the prices are expensive for the standard of living.

This is so cool! Loving these vlogs!
proud to be albanian💪🏼❤️🇦🇱

thanks for the comment. 🙏
Pogradec Albania ❤
I'm from Pogradec
If you aren’t from Kosovo then you would think you can basically buy a car with that money because it’s easy to get, but to us Albanians, oh god.... don’t get us started on how hard it is for us
Ate in nice restaurant in Albania last summer like boss . Risoto with prawns/salad/wine/dessert 14€ 🤣🤣
In london 50 £
Spain 12 dolars 10 euro salad with eggs, pork, yoghurt and coffe
Yea but how much is average pay in London ? Albania 4-500 euros top
Bro one dollar equals 1 mije leke te vjetra apo Jo?
Respect for you James.
Soo we are going to ignore the fact that a lady showed up from nowhere..... k
Brunaldo Brunaldo no she came in when he was showing a video
Excellent video bro
I am Pakistani
I love Albania
🤪
Compared to 2016 in Euro's Albania became a bit more expensive in 2018 due to the conversion rate (from 135 to 125 Leks/Euro) while the prices in Leks were more or less the same. A regular Korça beer (0,5L) was around 150 leks everywhere (Vlorë, Sarandë, Shkodër, Korçë, Pogradec, the cities we were in 2016 and 2018), which means that a beer rose from €1,11 to €1,20 in two years time.
English-very nice
Albanais(shqip)-shum bukur
Yeah stuff is pretty cheap over here at Albania, the problem is the salary is pretty broken and we have advanced quite late into the modern era. Also Albania is quite beautiful as a country.
Pogradec city in here🔥😍
I’m from Pogradec too! However I live in Ohio now. Great video!
Lucky you
in august i got 138lek per euro probably depends on area and season, did you google the rate or did you actually went to an exchange store? banks have the worst exchange rates keep in mind, exchange stores are usually located next to bus station
banks work on a 7% profit and exchange stores on a 0,8%. number 1 rule for travellers in albania is not exchange currency in banks
i appreciate your concern and input! this is the official exchange rate, and i would not know what exchange store or banks give because i never have to use them. where were you when you got 138lek?
The Exchange rate today is around 124.3 ALL for 1 Euro
@@aplsharusha still pretty close to when i checked
5 years ago it was 145 lek per 1 €
Sweet! See you got alot of followers now! Congratulations Bro!
thank you! thanks for watching all my videos since the beginning!

I LOVE ALBANIA
Great content bro
im from albania but i live at shkodra city
Thank you very much you present my country this way!
the wages here in Albania are so low but my mom gets 500 euros per month and my dad 800 euros per month
M- ello are so cheap*
+Marjan Gjoka no harm done! i just wanted to make sure you realized i lived here and didn’t just come through as a tourist! i do appreciate the comment and the views, and of course thank you so much for subscribing! i hope to see you comment on other videos as well 🙏
So I'm moving to Albania
Okay but salaries are low
Keep it up dude!
Albanian the Eagles Contry!!
How much do I need per day at the beach assuming I already have where to stay? I'm planning a 2 weeks visit to the Albanian coast side this summer and don't know what budget to prepair. I'll be rideing my motorcycle ;)
Thank you!
In albania you can be rich with only 100€😂😂😂😂
that's a lie
Lol sure buddy, 100 isnt enough for lights
Mind Of Virtuoso sometimes they overprice bills in here because they are way too lazy to check everything systematically...there are tons of dark sides but yeah...if you have money you can live as a king in here :)
@@welldone8564 exactly! That's a damn lie! Albania has nearly the same prices as Europe has! Only the salaries in Albania are lower way much lower then in Europe!
@@brunomerko You need Millions of Dollars to live like a king in Albania! Without a Million dollars you will run out of money pretty quickly! Even though most people in Albania live under poverty the prices are still the same as Europe!
