i appreciate this, she could have taken her to some tourist attractions, but she dragged her in the deep a little, what a great ambasador for our country
I love Albania, this sunday I am going to Tirana for the third time. Before I came to Albania I ordered books from a bookstore in Tirana to learn Albanian. Rrofte Shqiperia.
I'm glad that the reporter was honest. Most food reviewers say they love the dish even when their facial expressions betrayed their true feelings; all because they don't want to offend the host.
Remember she is German, hurting someone’s feelings is less important than being honest for most people. Here in Germany the polite thing to do is being upfront and honest about most things, as opposed to being agreeable and smiley. As a South American, even after 5 years and a German wife I still grapple a bit with this kind of politeness vs the one I grew up with.
As an American who spent a week there last year, i can remember having lamb for the first time in my life and really enjoying it. I even had lamb and yogurt inside of Berat Castle, common based Albania moment X)
sometimes i forget that americans don't really eat lamb lol my family is from pakistan and eating lamb is one of the things we have in common with albanians :)
@@Supernova10000 I had never even seen a lamb or goat before I went to Albania, what we usually eat here is cow or pig meat. Which of course, is something we don't have in common with either India or Pakistan.
@@kidfox3971i actually live in new york, so i know americans usually eat beef/pork, but ive seen many other cultures who eat different kinds of meat since there’s a lot of ppl from different countries here. It’s just that with so much influence from other places its difficult to really know what’s the norm in the rest of the country lol

I have a few friends who are from Albania or have family there, so I got more interested in the culture. It's a really beautiful country!! I'd love to visit someday!!
Boza, it’s very refreshing, healthy probiotic drink. Of course it takes a bit of time to get used to the taste but once you do it becomes an addiction 😁
Hello, albanian here! Well we really have a very mixed culture since being near almost every country that used to be a world power for it's time. Albanian language would take 8 years to learn it perfectly and it's more than 6000 years old. The cuisine is mostly turkish and italian style, but obviously there's also our touch where you can see that in the video. Glad to hear that from you, you're welcomed here anytime
I have eaten at these places (Oda's being my favorite!). As an American, very little I didn't like! One must have an open palette to enjoy other culture's foods.
Perhaps is the opposite Greece have Albanian Tradition food 😉 like for example one simple Example im giving to you , our Fustanella wich you guys "Borrowed" from us , so imagine when you "Borrow" from us your officail State Clothes imagine what can happens with food tradition and other things ,but Anyway you Greeks are respectful peoples ,i mean one part of you guys 😉
We Albanians love the combination of ice cream and boze and it's understandable this German girl is not used to it. Actually, boze alone is a great drink but I've noted nowadays they make it with grains whereas best boze is made with corn, yellow corn and of course a bio version if you can get it in Albania as food is being destroyed there too with the influx of GMO seeds, pesticides etc. It's really sad what's happening there just to make money! Bio seeds before 1990 have been vanished with the exception of various villagers who still have been able to save them and to find them is like finding a needle in a haystack.
That lakror looked nice. Shame that the tourist are not taken to Elbasan for a short trip where Albanian food is a bit better. Take me Kos and bugaçe instead os fli.
Sorry, but she doesn't have to like all flavors for it to be international. Now, if you must hear only positive opinions, you can try almost every other channel which will say every food is good even if they don't like it. I also find some Albanian dishes hard to like. "Unusual" is not the same as bad; a bad combination can be original or unusual, and it doesn't make it tasty, with all due respect.
A bit insensitive to label a dish as tasting like it’s gone bad just because you’re not used to it or have a limited palate in this case. It’s like blue cheese, someone who tries it for the first time may say that it tastes like something’s gone bad. But then one might build a gradual liking to it over time.
I would say, a very incomplete taste journey! The guide wasn't probably the right one? I do not know, I feel my expectations weren't met. I do not feel represented.
Albanians have a light breakfast? That must be a modern thing, because our breakfast are as fatty as they come. Lots of pastry with cheese and the good old dhalle! And then what did they do to the fli? Sweet fli? Who’s ever heard of anything like that? Interpretation indeed, but definitely not the real deal. The real fli is salt and savoury. Wtf 😂 talk about ruining the traditional Albanian cuisine by bringing in some fusion of some sorts.
Eh...the guide took her to basically the Starbucks of Albania. Would have been better to take her to the typical cafe where dudes hang out chainsmoking all day. More authentic experience.
The reporter seems to prefer bland food to any unusual flavour. Instead of trying to understand the flavor, she jumps to say her narrow opinion on food.
We wanted to do an honest food tour with authentic reactions and everyone has a different taste, right? 😉Which doesn't mean at all that the food was regarded as bad.
@@DWFood then don’t call it “What to eat if you have ONE day in Albania”. Would you do a “What to drive on the Autobahn” video where 3/5 cars are broken down and can’t go faster than 80km?
@@akas1255I find your critique senseless. It’s an informing video about Albanian cuisine ,not a sponsored promotion .
Sorry to say this, but congratulations Linda. You did a bad job actually. Most typical and cheap Albanian food in the morning is byrek. Also, the most unique typical Albanian dish, "tave kosi", Linda didn't even mentioned
@BelaDJ1to be completely fair, the average American has probably never heard of Albania or seen it on a map because they don’t have a large presence globally. I’m pretty sure the average European can’t label or recall most caribbean islands because they don’t have contact with that region often.
wow, could you choose any worse person to go there to eat? She literally knows nothing about food, doesn't even have the adjectives to describe what she's tasting.
