Guys, his girlfriend was pregnant. He was so thrilled to have a baby and start their family only to find out IN THE DELIVERY ROOM that the baby wasn't his. It rocked his entire world, and not in a good way. That's literally what this video is about. Also, loving all the cameos by the mcid crew! You're all so lucky to have each other
"And I'll say, I'm sorry if I ever see you again, cause on that day I walked away, when you probably needed a friend" are we just going to ignore the most powerful line in the song, especially given the context?
The symbolism behind him looking like hes going to rob a bank shows the viewer how much he didn't belong in that scene. Almost like everyone knew he didn't belong there, he stood out so much out of place. The mask is basically his guard, he let it down and sure enough he knew he shouldn't of.
This song hits me hard and deep, I never really listened to the second verse and what it was saying until I saw the video. I went through the exact same thing, about two years ago, I was with a girl that cheated on me and I found out later on after I realized that she was pregnant. She swore up and down the kid was mine, we were going to stay together and I forgave her and decided that we were going to have a life together, until the baby came out. Whenever he goes into the hospital wearing all of this protective armor and bandana over his face means that he has put his guard up because he is scared of the outcome. It's his emotional armor. At the end he pulls down the bandana while she's giving birth because he let his guard down and his emotions got the best of him. But yet when the baby comes out , he is lifted into the air because he realizes that he is free from that point. He is free from her games, he is free from that life at that point. And whenever he hits the ceiling he pulls the bandana up because he has put up his emotional armor yet again. So no one can see the real him, no one can penetrate through to him. Stuff like that can really change a man. I still struggle with letting anybody into my psyche, and letting my guard down so that someone can see the real me so I can actually be in a real relationship.
I took the part where everybody was lifted as a metaphor for how everything thing they thought to be true was something completely different so I can imagine how it could've been incredibly difficult to separate reality from the lies and wonder if anything they had was real.

The singer of Highly Suspect is super talented, and you can definitely tell his emotions are purely put on pad and paper and sung for us to feel. In the 2016 song "Little Ones", he even says, "How long must I justify my pain through these songs?" Powerful stuff. He's been putting all of his emotions in his music for a long time now. And I love the band for that.
I actually think the mask symbolises he's emotions and how when he pulls the mask down he's letting he's guard down and showing he's emotions and once he realises the baby isn't he's he puts the mask back up so nobody can see how he feels once again

He went inside dressed in full riot gear, expected him to rob a bank, but she's the one who dropped the bomb on everyone. Alot of symbolism and I love it.
This almost seems as though it's him reliving the event in his memory, and Johnny is steeling himself for what is about to happen. Could have been a traumatic moment in his life that he has since "ascended" from, or moved on from. Still absolutely loving this video!
@@marissashantez6051 the baby wasn't his color...it belonged to someone else. Although based on the video, I thought she was giving birth to the savior of the world.
I don’t think people noticed he said “and I’ll say ‘I’m sorry’ if I ever see you again, cuz on that day I walked away when you probably needed a friend” he maybe didn’t want to be the father but he regrets leaving her. Even tho it was a smart choice it’s kinda sad how time makes us regret our decisions.
yall are stupid the baby turned out black "Im not a brother" neither of them were black so she cheated on him thats why he left not because he didnt want to be a father
Very few of you will have experienced this. The dark gritty painful months and years invested and thrown away. How deep pain can reach beyond your mind and emotions, into the foundation of your Soul.
@@striver1987 the fuck you talking about the song specifically mentions it. It was a remark of one of the few ways to easily tell it ain’t your kid. Many people never got those more subtle hints and end up raising kids who aren’t theirs.

The first time i heard this song, i knew it had to be true. The pure emotion coming through is devastating. I hurt for them. Unbelievable pain... I'm so sorry this happened, Johnny.
This song is so sad and beautiful, and it has several aspects. Right now there is a ten-year-old (approx?) who was loved as his child, but lost that when being born. I hope the child got to know the real father and is loved.
Right? Because it's a paradox in the sense that if he loved her so much, but left, he questions where he went wrong to let this all happen...other man's babe, etc.
"When you told me you were holding My future kid and all the joy that that would bring Well I thought I was a father But baby is not my daughter Cuz baby’s a different color And baby im not a brother It was just too much to swallow You ripped my heart out" YIKES, what a bummer.
Oh god I'm 16 and just got in my first relationship a few months back with a super caring and loving girl. This song not only frightens me of the future but also pushes me to be a better person to make sure this never happens to me
Doesn't matter how good of a man you are bub. U could be the best man in the world living the best life & & give a woman the world & her still get clapped behind your back. The quicker you realize they all like that regardless how you treat them the better off you'll be. Always keep your guard up & never fully trust em.
I love how this song is about Johnny, but they still manage to incorporate all people in the band + their friends. Also the fact that bandana stands for opening up and closing back down after beeing betrayed just came to me at the end of the song
The way he looks back and realizes how lonely it must of been for her at that moment says a lot about the heart of this individual. “I’d say I’m sorry if I ever see you again, that day, I walked away when you probably needed a friend. It chokes me up
@@TheChnecht it makes total sense in an artistic manor. It's not weird but symbolic. Symbolism is used heavily around you and most things people miss. Like a dollar bill has massive amount of symbols with back stories and meanings. Life is far stranger than fiction. Fiction is crafted, reality is chaotic.
This song speaks to my soul and a woman in my life. It is hard when a woman breaks a man like she broke me. I got my armor on and after my last girl I could go my whole life without a woman again. It was just to much to swallow.
The way he's singing in this song compared to all the others (Even tho they are amazing songs) i feel like he should make more songs this clear and raw talent, he has a really good voice and this show's it. i'm looking forward to you making more songs in this style because I've had this song on repeat for a week now.

Hated this song the first time I heard it. I thought they had sold out. But when I heard it the third or fourth time I realized how complex it is. This song is different, but different isn't always bad. Great job.
The whole cut was anticipation of “a bomb being dropped/let off”. The bomb happen to be the mixed child when it arrived , hence it blew everyone away - this is why they were ascending . When he put the rag back on it was him saying ‘I don’t know you anymore and / or I’m covering my emotions
Probably the best band to come out in last 10 years. IMO. Also this song is my love letter.hits home so much. Love these guys. Lyrics and vocals on point
Right after the birth, everybody rising in the room is representing everybody leaving her side/life after they found out that the baby was not his. Look at the expression on her face when she realizes this. "'Cause on that day, I'll walk away When you probably needed a friend"
Some cringy high school brainlet embarrasses doctors and nurses and getting pushed to the ceiling realizing his underage gf is giving birth to the pack of Toblerone
piece of epic I know. I just honestly wanted to see more of him and the girls past. I wanted to see them younger and in the “puppy love” I wanted to see the relationship gradually start to get unhappier, while all leading up to the labor. I feel like we should’ve only seen the labor part when he’s singing about him finding out. It would’ve just FIT better if what he sang about was shown at the same time.
Skylar Merritt I’m sure they would just have a blast recreating all those memories. aha note the sarcasm So- I understand he made a song about it- but it’s something personal for Johnny and however he feels his story is most justly told, is right.
Such a beautiful representation of the song, artists that can capture emotion musically and visually while letting your mind piece it together with personal interpretation are rare. I appreciate the willingness to go to a place of great pain, I can feel it in his voice and see it in his eyes. I'm a fan of genius art and I'm in love with everything this band shares with us.
Huntington -“Took care of your problem, corporal Gallagher” Carl- “What problem is that?” Huntington- “Just wanted to show my loyalty to our platoon, sir!” Carl- “The hell are you talking about, cadet?” Huntington- “Kassidi. Don’t worry, sir. Nobody will ever find the body.”
Holyshit!!! Never noticed this... "When you told me you were holding my future kid? Ay And all the joy that that would bring Well I thought I was the father But baby, it's not my daughter 'Cause baby's a different color And baby, I'm not a brother" Ouch!!! A painful way to learn she cheated...
One particular part of the brain - the superior temporal sulcus (STS) - responds to Songs. Now in the middle of the STS, the lyrics and tune are being processed as a single signal. But in the anterior STS, only the lyrics are being processed. This may be because no individual, complex processing occurs for melody. The brain first deals with music and lyrics together. Then, after passing through the mid-STS more complex processing kicks in, such as understanding what lyrics mean, and the two are treated separately. And the more they are processed, the more they are separated, So, probably the same way it happens to everyone else. One listens to the song but doesn't actually hear all the lyrics until they've heard it a few times. Peace

Jesus, I met him in 2017. We had a wonderful time together, drinking and talking the night away. We even shared our preferences in women. At around 4 in the morning, he mentioned that he had a concert and was going to sing. What a great guy....
Imagine the video depicting their “beautiful” relationship first, him getting the news of supposedly being the father and then something like this. Would have had more impact in my opinion
He was geared up to protect his family with all he had, knowing he would be a father.. she kept years of his life, then cheated on him, the baby isn’t his
@@althealligator1467 I'm sorry I do not understand.... Why would it matter to you what I think. I was just saying what I think which none of it was bad.
Everyone talking about "was waiting for the black baby" Its not about the kid, not about race, not about her, its all about his perspective, his world crashing, and the truth settling in for the room. Showing the baby as(x) race distracts from the intended focus
You reading way too much into that man. People are trying to be funny because if the parents are both white and the baby is black, it's pretty obvious that she cheated.
They start floating because she is beneath them all. Like, that's incredibly low. Literally the shittiest way to find out someone cheated on you. Especially since he spent 9 months waiting for his baby and probably doing all the family prep stuff
Breakdown for anyone not understanding...his bandana is his emotional guard. As he walks in the room he let's his guard down because he's about ready to become a father. As the little girl is born he sees its not his race and she is forced to admit she had been cheating on him. As she is being born she is shining because she is pure, innocent and a perfect angel but he realizes he is no longer anchored to fatherhood as he acends to the ceiling. With this deceit his guard is now back up hence him raising his bandana back over his face. This is a true story of his life.
So all art is subjective, but heres what I got from this.... He shows up and even though he's hoping for the best he's ready for war because something in his gut is telling him to protect his heart. As he walks in it feels like everyone knows whatsup except for him.... he's still trying to do whats best despite the overall judgement of people around him so he holds her hand through it all. The birth of the light to me represents everything... well.. coming to light. The shock of the truth and the pain immediately repels him from her... He at that point puts his mask back on and his guard up in order to move on and "Fly".... ( see what I did there lol)
"Oh godd... where did I go wrong!?" Live life to the fullest and be faithful man. We can all make this rock a better place with honesty and real trust. Stay real y'all.
Live life. Take chances. Love. Lose. Do everything you can. Bcsuae one day, you could wake up on a ventilator, and your life will be over at 27. I regret every chance I didn't take. Now I'm 30, disabled my art is terrible because I have atrophied hands. Always always take chances. You never know when you won't be able to anymore.
The symbolism in this video is amazing. Most the video's today seem to miss the purpose or meaning of the song. Like it's telling two different stories. But this one - I think it really captures the imagery while not taking away from the music itself. Awesome job and excellent song.
We don't know his pain. This is only a mere representation of an atrocity that happens daily. Let's just be thankful were able to take a peak inside terrible johnnys mind.
L MMM remember when he was a likable, charming, unbelievably promising rock star? That chip on the shoulder really changed things I’m afraid. Also, I’m not into dudes but Johnny was a good lookin mother fucker if you look at the Seratonia video.....and then you compare it to this..... wtf happened?

I know his pain, I know it far to well! I know to never trust a woman again! This song hits hard for me! I relate to it greatly! Life I guess!
L MMM so do I but yeah it’s like they’re TRYING to put out subpar stuff lately. Even in their live shows I hear that now they pause in the middle of songs to say some b.s like goddamn what a fall from grace
For those of us who walked into the hospital room to this situation.. this song hurts. It's now been three years since I divorced my wife. It's only been one year since my ex wife took her life.
I appreciate your loyalty and conviction! Sadly, the females in our lives don't always live up to the same standards. I know ladies, this gate swings both ways....
@@filipneminarz2782 He goes in armoured, lets down his guard with her, gets hurt, loses his stability and puts on his mask and thus emotional armour again. Where is that too much symbolism? It's rather simple, I'd say.
I can relate to the floating feeling after witnessing something you cant process, the out of body experience almost, everyone in the room is going through the same. This is also a great example of why some people who aren't necessarily bad but put on terrifying mask and attitude. It hiding something painful something they don't want you to see.
I hope you checked out their other albums as well. Nice singer, I like the songs Vanity and Lost but they got so many bangers. Little one is another good one
I did end up checking out more of their music. California dreaming is a great one. I think that's what it's called. Y3ah its really good stuff. The thing about 16 is that when you,re young you,re a different kind of person. Then you grow a few years and find that you both have grown in different directions. You have aspirations and an idea what you want to do with your life. Maybe you grew and the other stayed in the same spot mentally. Life is crazy. One day you think you have it all figured out. The next you,re ready for change and realize the time spent may have been in vain.
I think it's odd this song decided to find me during a situation very much like the one in the video minus the newborn. 10 years is a long time ya know. Just feels like waisted time.
That cry at the end that the actress did when she realized she would lose her love forever because of a stupid mistake or one night stand. That's what I felt from it. The feeling of absolute regret and realizing she will be haunted by this loss for the rest of her life. Like the feeling of realizing you accidentally killed someone. wow
I just lost my kid and this song is the only thing I can hold onto rn…… I hope all of you find happiness and peace in your life, and I hope you are all safe and well….. much love y’all ❤️

Ouch!!! A painful way to learn she cheated...
Curious: How do you not notice that?
One particular part of the brain - the superior temporal sulcus (STS) - responds to Songs. Now in the middle of the STS, the lyrics and tune are being processed as a single signal. But in the anterior STS, only the lyrics are being processed.
This may be because no individual, complex processing occurs for melody.
The brain first deals with music and lyrics together. Then, after passing through the mid-STS more complex processing kicks in, such as understanding what lyrics mean, and the two are treated separately. And the more they are processed, the more they are separated,
So, probably the same way it happens to everyone else. One listens to the song but doesn't actually hear all the lyrics until they've heard it a few times.
Peace

Everyone talking about "was waiting for the black baby"
Its not about the kid, not about race, not about her, its all about his perspective, his world crashing, and the truth settling in for the room. Showing the baby as(x) race distracts from the intended focus
Exactly, that's how I took it..I couldn't even imagine the shock of the situation finding out the truth in that moment
EXACTLY!
You reading way too much into that man. People are trying to be funny because if the parents are both white and the baby is black, it's pretty obvious that she cheated.
@@inuchan74 that was in fact the case. But again the focus isnt on the kid.

I think it's odd this song decided to find me during a situation very much like the one in the video minus the newborn. 10 years is a long time ya know. Just feels like waisted time.
I think target carry CDs of this stuff. I'm going now.
"It took me sixteen years to find ya
One second to love ya
I don't trust you
.....................................But I still love you" 💔xREWx❤️
Skip the love part too
That cry at the end that the actress did when she realized she would lose her love forever because of a stupid mistake or one night stand. That's what I felt from it. The feeling of absolute regret and realizing she will be haunted by this loss for the rest of her life. Like the feeling of realizing you accidentally killed someone. wow
I just lost my kid and this song is the only thing I can hold onto rn…… I hope all of you find happiness and peace in your life, and I hope you are all safe and well….. much love y’all ❤️
Stand strong through the pain my brother I may never get the chance to meet you but know that no matter I would stand by your side

Боже, как ты заметил? Мне потребовалось 2 раза пересмотреть его крупный план, чтобы прочитать. Это круто, что народ заграницей использует русский😎 Привет из Украины кста. Hi from Ukraine👌
This song is so raw. Love his voice. He is getting out his pain and STILL apologise for how he hurt her. Dayum. 🖤
It took me 16 yrs to find ya
1 second to love ya
7 years to hold ya
1 minute to lose you.... OH GOD!
I felt that ish in my soul
Who

Been a hardcore fan since Mister Asylum days. Saw you guys twice in Johnson City TN, seeing you again in Knoxville next Wednesday!!!!
You're lucky! I saw them twice in Huntsville, AL and now it's not on the new tour. I'd have to go to Nashville (2hrs.) or Atlanta(4hrs.). I'll probably have to miss out this time. It sucks cause we showed them sooo much love before!
Anyways, hope it kicks ass. Have fun!
Zack Franklin thanks! I hate that you aren’t able to see them this round but hopefully there will be many more opportunities in the future!
When were they in JC?
@@StrawberryJam806 appreciate that
Melanie Ramey May 2016 and the other date I can’t remember. They were at Capone’s.
I need to emotionally prepare myself for this one... Gonna hit me right in the feels.
Right there with you
The person you love the most... Made to be the most but just an image of yourself. Crying and hurting is only the beginning
