- 2009 F1 World Champion Jenson Button is going to be racing at the 24 hours of Le Mans, in a Nascar. Yes, you heard that right. The stock car will be tackling the world's greatest endurance race this weekend and has been much faster than predicted, meaning it will now run behind the LMP2 class and ahead of the LMGTE class. Will you be watching the Le Mans 24?

Could've been Rocken ,Jimmy , Button or Jimmy ,Jensen ,Rocken- fellows as well , theres also the triple champion's team. All are great drivers, my only worry is Jimmy JohnSpin will show up rather then Jimmy Johnson ! Cause when J.J. is driving like he can, he's awesome !! But oddly in his later years in Nascar, and then really bad in Indy he couldn't keep the car pointed in the right direction, or put it into the competition's car. Shame really, cause the man is a legend and can drive the doors off just about anything !! I'm really hoping they do well and win their class at the Lemans race. As ling as the car holds up, I expect they'll do VERY well !!!

@@Viper_2-1 the commentators for le mans were talking about the garage 56 car and what they had to do for it to race at that track they couldnt use anything that was standard for nascar it wasnt even close to what they use on the speedways that why they used the zl1 engine. the EFI v8's would destroy themselves on the le mans track with how low of rpms they use on a consistent rate on the le mans track the efi v8 was not meant for a track like le mans. and thats not the only thing they had to do to qualify aaswell the entire car got reworked and touched up for that race and they still had issues but either way it was a modded ZL1 engine.
It's just funny to know that a nascar lapped around the Lemans circuit faster than all of the gt cars
Easy to do with an extra 150 horsepower. Especially when throttle time is 85% of the lap

@@TheFlamerthe top speed of the car has little to do with the time differential. The GTE cars are about as fast, the time comes from corner exit because the Camaro accelerates much faster.

I was at the race and I can tell you that this car won the hearts of all the fans due to its epic sound that only the Cadillac Hyper-cars could come close to, every time the Chevy passed by it put a smile on the fans faces..

The No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 finished the endurance race in the 39th position out of 62 cars entered in the event. The team's goal was to be finish the race and they were able to do just that. In the process, the team fixed a drive line issue that cost the squad about an hour of track time.
A car in the shape of a boat and not exactly designed for leman finished in the same position it started which is middle of the pack.
That’s wildly impressive.
It even got up to 22nd at one point!

Mike Rockenfeller is the best driver on that team. He's also won the Daytona 24 the same year he won LeMans

I think it will do quite well, a reliable v8, experienced drivers, good pace. I dont think it would be as fast at other wec circuits since it probably loses a lot of time in the corners
It's actually really good in the corners. According to Jenson button it's great off the corner because of torque, but at the end of the straights it actually loses time

Or maybe it was because the car was GINORMOUS compared to all the little hypercars around it. :-) Yea it was the straight that slowed it down not the corners… hot what most would have expected.
@@kuhndj67 Kinda. But they can reach 300 kmh with only 500 hp with the same chassis, minus wings and fins they put for Le Mans.
they did a great race, a pity about the problem towards the end but without a doubt a very solid race
Finishing the race is pretty good enough for me. Setting time laps as good as GTE cars is a bonus. Hoping can join GTE class later.

GTE are race cars that started as a GTE where they took a car from a completely different form of racing and qualified better than anyone though possible. And managed after to finish the race. They will look hard at what failed in the gearbox and will show up with a car that won't fail in the same way but i would say get ready for more NASCAR teams to try.

Bro of ot wasn't for the gearbox change overnight they would have beaten the GTE Class, they grindded them down all 24 hours and it was beautiful!

Pepper are quick to forget this. If NASCAR had a 4.5 hour timer people would call it endurance racing.
Well to be fair the original nascar invite from the 70s didnt well at all, even the one that got proper fuel........ But this car will do well. From what i remember this doesn't really resemble any 2023 nascar. Its a Prototype test bed for a possible chassis in future nascar generation.

The main reason why NASCAR was there was because they were celebrating the 75th anniversary of NASCAR, which coincidentally, was the 100th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans

The sound of the NASCAR on the track sounded a lot nicer then the GTE cars but also was alot faster then the GTE cars and even keeping up with the LMP cars

@@Munchticles Don't joke about that when it comes Le Mans 24, that happened before and caused entire countries to ban any mechanical sport competition sometimes for decades due to the sheer horror of that day. Never had any competition seen such a catastrophic accident in History, and that's not close :|
I'm not into racing but would have loved to watch that car race.
Fun fact: There was going to be a 24-hour Le Mans race in the Cars 2 movie, Each car uses different types of fuel not just allinol. Mater eventually disrupts the race as he is mistaken as a spy. Unfortunately, this was scrapped immediately.

Feeling a bit sorry for the Hendrick team. Their car is going great, but while I do agree with most of the new safety car procedure, the wave around each time is destroying their overall position. The same for everybody outside of Hypercar. I understand the safety aspect of shuffling the cars back into class groups too avoid mixed speeds at restart, but the drivers handled that well, every year until now. We will never know where the (frankly awesome) Hendrick car would have finished overall because of this race destroying part of a generally race improving safety car procedure.
Still, at least they have great odds of getting a class win at their first Le Mans. 😋

Actually, the more I think about it, the more it makes sense that NASCAR would be in lemans. It's already an endurance race to turn left for hours at a time (excluding the lesser know road courses). This was basically an inevitability.

The last panel of the Nascar stockers in the midst of exotic hypercars, prototypes, and GT cars makes it stand out impressively ... and though the stocker finished in the lower half of the field, it accounted itself impressively... and all the exotic whining of the rest of the field can never outdo the rumble of that NASCAR V8 ... It's why they have lots of fan attention...
