Oh Max. Full time sim racer and part-time F1 Champion. Hate him or love him....cant argue the man was born to race.
Wonder if Senna would have been into sim racing if he was in this era?
I'm gonna say he wouldn't be. Just from looking at how people were and especially how people like Senna or Schumacher were I figure they were in love with the art of the car and not so much into telemetry and data etc.

But it was the teams fault not Piastri’s. Is he not the most unlucky driver on the grid atm?

They should make some penalties for the teams for situations like this one cause it is so unfair for poor Oscar, who could potentially have been the poleman today, to lose that front row seat he very well deserved to sit on tomorrow..
Also KMag's curse continues... Both of them I think are the most unlucky drivers in the grid

The odd thing that happened in Sector 1 with Charles was the outlap. Carlos was going too slow on the out lap which messed up their tyre prep and made Charles lose tenths into the first sector. That’s why he had a purple sector 2 after the tyres finally got up to temperature. If Carlos would have gone faster like he was supposed to, Charles and him both could’ve been closer.

Hardly any mention of how incredible the McLarens were! All the talk is about how disappointing the Ferrari upgrades were (surprise surprise). Why not talk about the fact we have a real race on?! There’s no chance Max will pull out a 20 sec lead, the McLarens have significantly improved their race pace and will be with Max all the way.
In my case, i would like to Alex Jaques to finish the video with the sentence "when F1 returns", just like with F2
ferrari's inability to warm the tyres up correctly like mclaren is a sacrifice to get a lot better tyre wear. the sf23 could light up the tyres so well, which was why leclerc had so many poles last year and was excellent in Las Vegas in the cold temperatures. But the SF23 had bad tyre wear so it might be a sacrifice worth making.
Yip... they going to need a very good start or that rocket is gonna be gone by the end of the 1st lap...
Ferrari might be under a challenge from Mercedes here. George was only 0.001 behind Carlos in Q3. Despite Merc not being great in quali and good in races, and Ferrari are usually the reverse.
Ferrari have kind have become similar to that too this year, as Sainz said in his post-race interview, I think Ferrari will be in the fight tomorrow!
Ferrari were the reverse in 2023, it seems that they're now prioritising the race more.
You’re tripping if you think Merc have similar race pace as ferrari😂
Mercedes being better in the races than in qualifying is a thing of the past. They are really bad in both now. And this year Ferrari have become better in race pace than in qualifying.
Ferrari appear to be prioritising on the main race other than qualifying. It looks like they have done exactly like what they had done in China a few races ago, changing the setup of the car to a racing setup.
Pulling off a pole position while having 3 horrible free practices is just insane

12:43 It seemed that the track temperature ran away from them. Looking purely at this, Ferrari seems to thrive on a hotter track. Max nabbed his provisional pole time when the track was cooling down (5 degrees Celsius, I believe), then during the second run, the track cooled down even more. But again, Red Bull were fiddling with setups, so they might have just got it right at the last minute. Or the gusty winds, who knows. McLaren are just half a tenth away. Interesting stuff!
max is already on iracing
Track limits are not a problem. Whomever comes across the line fastest, while staying within track limits, is the winner. Done. There is no discussion needed.
Sports have a defined playing field for a reason. World football, American football, Baseball, Tennis, etc.
Everyone has the same limit and challenge to stay within the limit. There is no room for ambiguity or debate. As it should be.
Random question:
What do all of you think of Harry Benjamin taking over for Crofty this weekend?
I would love to see a very low effort photoshop of Alex's face above Tommy's in the Intro graphic
5:50, well tbf this year Logan has for the most part been within 1-3 places of albon. i mean he just beat albon in the miami sprint and was running next to him in the main miami race. and now he was only 2 places behind albon before his time got deleted. and Logan only has 1 year behind him in a shit williams. this is albons 3rd year with williams. andh e has several more years of expereince even with red bull. so like, idk i actually think Logan is doing alright imo
He keeps making mistakes. He screwed up his first 2 laps in Q1, whereas Alex might make a mistake every once in a while, but for the most part is consistent.
You can rely on Alex to get a good lap on almost every run. With Logan, it's such a crap shoot. He is a bit closer to Alex this year but he is still making mistakes. Like he has to push so close to the edge just to get that close that he winds up off the track or in the wall eventually.
And Miami was the first weekend in quite a while that he was close to Alex. An average race has him so much further back. There are improvements, but it's a little late at this point.
Edit: And Alex is just a solid driver. Imagine how much further back he would be if his teammate was Leclerc or Russell. Williams will want a consistent driver and a young driver with potential. At this point, I think we have an idea where Sargeant' potential is. And there are a lot of F2 drivers who seemingly have higher potentials.
Time to change that shirt for a McLaren one!!!😂😂
If the stewards take longer than an hour to review anything, I think the penalty shouldn't be applied.
Biggest Flop strikes again!!! Matt is the GOAT.
Glad to see alex is in the matrix.
Question to anyone who can answer. In qualifying drivers race on:
Q1 - Hards
Q2 - Mediums
Q3 - Softs
Is this set in stone?
For example can a driver in Q2 put on softs to secure a spot in Q3 or does all drivers have to race on those compounds per Qualifying stage?
On some weekends. They are trialling this approach.
Qualy is a free tyre choice. Only the spint qualy has required tyres (Q1+Q2= med, Q3 = soft)

@@lightninglev6626 ofcourse they did. 👍👍 Sometime Med gives a better handling and people try to make it in Q2 (or Q3) on Med, also to save a set of softs. Lower teams NEED to use the softs to make a chance to get to Q2. 👍👍

unpopular opinion: Alex has been F1's best commentator
The space between the white line and the gravel has to be narrower (Min rear tyre width) than the width of the car .... at this point, the limits are redundant .
The gravel is the limit. That’s what circuits should be like. Why even have a white line when there’s grass and gravel _immediately_ next to the track? You’re punished by default. Don’t even need stewards. Imola, Monza, Zandvoort, Suzuka… That’s how tracks should be built. None of the concrete carpark runoffs that drivers like to abuse.
@@theglitch312 The track "edges" are needed to stop runoff erosion. This is why I say the width of a rear tyre. This is only to ensure this strip be ( a rear tyre width ) narrower than the width of a car, so as to ensure no driver dares to abuse it.
@@cococalm Define _runoff erosion._ Pretty sure you just made up a term. You can fill up the damage to the grass and the gravel traps after the race. F1 cars don’t drive over the stuff on purpose anyways so there’s very little actual ‘erosion’ happening.
So again, if the track edge is gravel/grass. Why do we need a white line? So what if the kerb between the track and the gravel/grass barely fits an entire car. Why is that a bad thing?
Kerbs will be driven over regardless, making sure cars don’t use the last 5cm of the kerb makes no sense when there’s a literal gravel trap that the drivers never want to use is right after it!
When there’s concrete behind it, sure. Drivers will abuse it and will need to be penalized if they cross the white line. Else they’ll go wide every time. But abusing track limits is impossible with gravel/grass.
Only a German bureaucrat would seriously care if drivers use 5cm extra kerb… All drivers are free to do the same and if they go 1cm beyond they’re punished by the gravel.
