I was honestly expecting Level 11 to be his base door from Season 8. Not only is it an impressively sized flying machine door, but it also clears the water in front of it first.
I gotta say, it's been amazing seeing Mumbo evolve as a builder lately. If he had made this video a year ago, all of the doors would have been made out of iron blocks, but instead they're all actually designed in ways that you would actually build them and they all look really good. Not to mention the amazing base he made in Season 8. Bravo, Mumbo, keep up the great work.
Seeing how far these designs have come as someone who was obsessed with piston doors when they last played Minecraft over 7 years ago makes me very happy
"No need for a long hallway" You're right, Mumbo, there's no longer a need. However, there is something to be said for the intimidation and awe factor when you see multiple piston doors opening in sequence down a long corridor like a screwed up ancient vault from a sci-fi movie
Level 3 brings back memories. In early Alpha versions of Minecraft there was a glitch in double doors which made the doors react differently to redstone signals. The left door would open when powered by redstone and the right would close. To get them to both open and close together when activated you had to build an inverter into the circuit for the right side door.
I really want to see a door that opens like a garage door. Big, like the flying machine doors, but opens upwards, then pushes the blocks horizontally (kind of like a piston feed tape?) Edit: he did something similar for Scar in Hermitcraft season 5, episode 125. But I was thinking of something updated/bigger now that flying machine doors are a thing.
A long time ago I theorized this kind of design using trapdoors, so the horizontally moving trapdoors close and the door has a realistic width while properly rotating at the top.

I love the fact that these kinds of videos have started to incorporate building as well, it's really cool to see both Redstone and aesthetic building being mixed together in these.
"Actually, no. Mumbo is a redstoner, but he learnt building on HermitCraft and now has polished his building skills" -Karen's Son (Waiting for double woosh)
I remember doing redstone during the alpha days, and due to how double doors worked, it was way more complicated to do a functional double door than it should have been. The reason for this was that there were no mirrored doors so the 2nd door was basically inverted for whether it was open or closed
My one general issue with slime/honey block piston doors is that they usually have the consequence of leaving visible redstone components when it's open. Especially since slime blocks and honey blocks aren't that aesthetically pleasant, *especially* when rowed with one another
What you could do about that, is sink the door 3-5 blocks lower and add a secondary flush piston mechanism to hide it. Or even add a bit above the honey/slime blocks that would go flush with the ground itself.
He’s talking about block pallets in a red stone video! This is not the mumbo we saw before season 8 hermitcraft! But I really like how he now has additional tips on the look of the doors. It shows how much he’s improved as a builder.
I feel like he isn’t really mumbo. Like it’s invasion of the body snatchers and this is the fake mumbo. That’s how much he’s improved. Now, I was impressed with last seasons build too. Can’t wait for next season.
If anybody remembers the Retro Pyramid Feed The Beast pack back in the early 2000's using Minecraft 1.2.5, they will remember that the back wall of the pyramid actually opened up into the ceiling. That was a 9 x 4 block door moved upwards by using frame motors and redstone logic and it was only 2 or 3 blocks wide. Imagine trying to do that with only pistons. The addition of the new blocks has certainly improved door technology in Minecraft ;) Great video, keep them coming 👍
It’s a good reference but the video is pointless everyone knows the best way to get into a base is construct a massive wooden rabbit and hide in it but forget to
As a newer minecraft player and someone who really enjoys redstone, these new to pro redstone videos are extraordinarily helpful, I hope you can make more of these in the future.

Here's hoping Mumbo decides to do a Piston House style base for the next season of Hermicraft. I would love to see him amaze Grian with all the cool contraptions.

bedrock needs an update titled "the double piston extender and redstone circuits that do the same thing every time you use them, even if its in different worlds" update
"Kingly" is definitely a word. It meant: associated with or typical of a king; regal. For example things like, His Majesty needed to attend to His Kingly duties.
Blech, I remember the days of having to repeatedly take tylenol or advil to manage making my larger piston doors.. The amount of chain pistons and "cheater" redstone power needed for them was always such an undertaking. Ultimately, before slime blocks, my largest door was a 5x5 that pulled the middle rows back and up/down before shuffling the outermost layer in. It was so complicated that I just didn't even bother giving it a center block at all.

What if it did one for mumbo, would it just be mum?
Mumbo Jumbo: "I feel so kingly!"
Me: "Well I didn't vote for 'im!"
You don't vote for a king!
By exploiting the workers!
Mumbo for Mayor!
Since when did we start voting kings?

Sad to think Monty Python and the Holy Grail references now need to be addressed with an explanation of what Monty Python and the Holy Grail is...

For the build at 4:51. You could also hide the switch by having a pressure plate for it connected to the redstone. When you walk on the pressure plate you open the door
I was expecting Pearl’s Hermitcraft door for lvl 11. After all, even some Minecraft pros can’t figure out how to pass through it.
Ahh yes, the most secure door, two trapdoors
Feels like it's been ages since the last video on piston doors. At first I thought UA-cam recommends me yet another random video from years ago.
But then I saw how nice the doors look. Mumbo really became one of those builder persons lately.
Well if you've watched Hermitcraft season 8, you'd know that he does have Grian's soul now.
"It was actually a pair of coconuts" took me a second to register it but I get the reference

This guy is incredibly humble, he’s one of the best redstoners ever, then he says he’s just “pretty good”. What a legend
I like how Mumbo just starts all his vids with simple expressions such as I Like Doors.
"Looks doesnt matter"
-Attractive people
"Money doesnt matter"
-Rich people

I love how he talks about the first doors as if they were the most secure, expensive and smart doors in the video.
This design was used a lot in last life. It might be so XD
Kinda is the most secure
“I lied it was actually a pair of coconuts”
I love the reference!
Mumbo is one of the only UA-camrs who could get me to watch a video about doors.
Here's hoping Mumbo decides to do a Piston House style base for the next season of Hermicraft. I would love to see him amaze Grian with all the cool contraptions.
5:40 is that a monty python reference Mumbo
I hope it is
I so hope it is
"I lied, it's actually a pair of coconuts"
LOL love the Monte Python reference!
I would argue the tier 10 flying machine door is way easier than the fancy 3x3 door and the vault door.
Oh it definitely is easier but it is very innovative regardless.
i love how mumbo is being sarcastic about door 3 because it’s “easy” and “child’s play” and “you could build it in your sleep you stupid vegetable” but i have absolutely no idea how to make both the doors open at the same time and sometimes i’m even baffled by level 1
Now we need someone to make a list telling us which of these doors actually work on bedrock. Probably just the first 3.
bedrock needs an update titled "the double piston extender and redstone circuits that do the same thing every time you use them, even if its in different worlds" update
Nah, only the first two work
@@calliestudios Sand breaking itself when it falls more than a block is a real kick in the pants.
You might be able to get the 4x4 to work. Not sure honestly. But the Redstone would probably be a lot bigger on the sides
Yeah my castle gate is probably gonna just stay shut
"So I've pinched it." I quite liked that. Made me chuckle.
5:52 THERE IT IS! NOW it's a mumbo jumbo redstone video.
When he says that I prepare to relearn all of redstone
"Kingly" is definitely a word. It meant: associated with or typical of a king; regal.
For example things like, His Majesty needed to attend to His Kingly duties.
His majesty has been overthrown and made the butler
I remember watching Mumbo's piston door tutorials in 2013-2016. I'm so happy now they've been actually rated !!! Happy new year for tmrw!
I thought mungo was just gonna:
“If you wanna build these doors yourself, figure it out.”
I just loved how Mumbo casually admitted where he got his aspiration from❤️❤️
