    There should be a "Door Jam," like a game jam but for doors. Each competitor (or competitors...? if there are teams) have a limited amount of time (traditionally 48 hours) to design their door. Everybody is given the same NATURAL layout (as in, a cave structure with some unexpected block geometry), perhaps voted on like a game jam theme. Extra blocks jutting out from the walls could be part of the door, or just used to hide sneaky pistons. Then participants score other entries to ultimately determine the winner.

    This video felt weirdly long to watch, but not in a bad way. I was entertained all the way through but thought it was like 15 minutes or something, hadn't checked how long it was.

    Someone should make a "History of x speedrun" type video on piston doors. Seems like there's been enough innovations and discoveries in redstone and doors to make an entertaining video.

    As a former bedrock player of 8 years, who has worked with a lot of redstone in the bedrock edition, I'm thinking to myself: what the fuck am I looking at. And it's these door designs, where java's redstone mechanic scores a clear point.

    • @BlueKirby808
      @BlueKirby808 6 місяців тому

      Yah, Bedrock edition has a LOT of problems as compared to Java. Bedrock's redstone is said to be "easier" to understand tho.

    Anyone who builds these things and fully understands them better be eventually working on novel software or robotics at some huge tech company, because it's just a mindbending bit of engineering to put this together so seamlessly and densely packed.

    I wonder if you could design a program to brute force layouts of redstone components, until it arrives upon designs which are faster/more compact for any given X by Y layout piston door. and u can stipulate conditions such as seamless yes/no, etc

    • @trucid2
      @trucid2 4 місяці тому +1

      It would have to be more than just brute force because the search space grows exponentially with the number of blocks.
