    Great video, I wish I'd known a month ago when I was in the middle of Fredrick sound an hour away from Petersburg Alaska.
    I had some sludge on my pickup screen and my 2004 Optimax was new to me. After I limped back to town and did some Utube investigations I cleaned and fixed the warning tones. The Motor is very powerful pushes my skiff 35mph, cruise at 30.
    Thanks

    Good video though the big oil tank is pressurized by a hose coming from crankcase pressure.so the air pressure is pushing the oil from remote tank to reservoir so the oil circuit is always under pressure and when no pressure , the ouling system will fail.
    Thank you

    Thanks for all of the great info. The problem I am having is the reserve tank always remains full of oil and I have had my boat for about two years and I have only filled the 3 gallon oil tank once and the level is going down way too slow.

    your video helped me a lot, that cannister was sitting upright , this guy set it upright, and the oil was exhausted and didn't know how it would be refilled till this video.. Thank you, the cannister was on it's side, not like you had it in the video, but upright, crazy

    Nice video...I have 95 mercury 150 XR6 Black Max, runs great. Oil always full and purged. I can run all day, no problem til I stop to fish, even hours. I'll prime my fuel line and get that same warning tone intermittently. Some days it won't, others it will. I'm always checking everything and it uses oil, has great oil pressure..I just don't what it causing the alarm. I can play with the trim and the key and I get the alarm to "go normal" with my 3 quick beeps. I don't run it when the alarm stays a solid tone. Any tips?

    Great video and I was aware of all that you explained because I ran low oil once before. I have been grasping at straws with trying to correct a 4 beep low oil alarm and think I may have an oil sensor out on the Calin reservoir after I realized that I have good oil flow to allcomponents. Mercury and dealers try to make you change the whole tank that the sensor is not sold separate. Not true, I found the exact sensor for the tank just ordered it for 20 bucks when they wanted 350 for the whole thing. They pulled the same crap on a leaky oil pump, when I fixed it with a 15 cent oring. I have a 250 proxs and hope that I am on the right track with changing the sensor. Any response of where I am at with this issue?

    I am getting 6 alarms beeps after a minute of running. Only happens when I start the engine. Manual says maybe water in filter. I changed the fuel filter in the engine but still get 6 sounds about a minute after I start it. Can it still be an oil problem? I have a 2017. 250 Optimax

    • @vassilyknigge850

      I have no clue what the beeps are for but my guess is that it could be just a battery warning beep that it's not charging but as long as you see your oil level keep slowly going down you should be good and as for water in your fuel, as long as the engine runs good you shouldn't have a clogged filter and clean carbs.

    Great video! I have a question. I had the beep come on and off. Always had oil. Never ran out. Yesterday we were going 20mph amd it automatically brought the motor to 2 mph. We checked everything. That tank on the actual motor was probably close to 7/8 full. From your video sounds like it should be 100% full. Would that cause such a problem it would shut down. I was able to put back at 4 mph hour. Seem to run fine. But cause of the alarm. It would go any faster. Do you think there may be a different issue. Maybe electronic, or maybe that tank needs to be 100% full?

    Question. I have a 1985 Mercury XR2 and the alarm came on today (constant alarm, not intermittent) and I know the thermostats are working and water pump is newer, too, and spitting a steady stream out the back. I am getting a small leak in the oil reservoir cap that has the air/oil prongs that goes to the engine. My question is will that cap connector having a small leak cause that alarm to sound? I just gotta believe it is not overheating since the thermostat is fine and the water pump working. Thanks for any help.

    • @ahrensmarineservicesllc4965
      @ahrensmarineservicesllc4965  2 роки тому

      Yes any leak on the on board oil tank will cause a loss of pressure and not fill your tank on the motor correctly which will in turn cause a lack of oiling of the motor and a possible alarm, I would a skilled mechanic in your area look at it and not run until you get it fixed as powerhead failure may occur

    I have a 1988 Mariner Mag II outboard. How would you go about testing the oil low sensor and the low sensor buzzer itself? When I turn the key on I do not get the normal beep most boats have. The key is located in the shifter box. I have 2 wires coming out of the cap on the emergency oil reservoir. I just want to be able to test everything and make sure it is working correctly

      You could take the sensor and float out and while the engines running you can
      Keep the float raised and then lower the float all the way and see if you get an alarm.

    • @ahrensmarineservicesllc4965
      @ahrensmarineservicesllc4965  4 роки тому

      Your engine will not automatically ''cut back'' or reduce engine RPMs due to an oil injection problem. They didn't have that feature available back in 1999. Power Packs or switch box problems won't cause an alarm problem either. You may have an over heat issue or an oil injection issue going on. Further investigating should be done. hope this Helps.

      @@rickstout7626 I think by 1999 the oil injection alarm changed on your engine. The motion sensor on the oil pump was deleted by Mercury. See if the oil tank under the motor cowling is full to the top of oil. If not, that can cause an alarm. If your motor is an EFI, it has a ''water in fuel filter'' alarm feature. there's a little red led light on the front of the motor that will illuminate if that an issue. Otherwise, you may need a new water pump impeller kit. Should be done every three years. they will usually overheat around 3000-3500 rpms when the impeller gets weak. Do not remove the thermostat's...that won't solve the issue, and they need to be in there.

      Locate the 2 light blue colored wires, coming out of the bottom of the oil tank. Unplug one or both of them...if the alarm goes away, your oil tank will need to be replaced. The float has sank I side the tank. Hope this helps.

    I have a question. I have a 94 mercury 150 xri. Was running it, made a sharp right turn and a alarm started to go off. Beep beep beep and so on the entire time. Shut it down checked the oil, the big tank was about a little less than half full. Water was peeing out the pee hole. Everything seemed fine. Took it to the ramp to put it on trailer and it died. It will turn over but will not run. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    • @ahrensmarineservicesllc4965
      @ahrensmarineservicesllc4965  5 років тому +1

      The beep, beep, beep alarm is probably caused by the small onboard oil tank under the engine cowling. If it's a little bit low, sometimes during a hard turn, this will allow the float sensor in the tank to drop...thus causing the alarm. The no start problem can be caused by a variety of things. the engine will need to be looked over to find the cause.

    • @ahrensmarineservicesllc4965
      @ahrensmarineservicesllc4965  5 років тому +1

      Also be sure that your water seperating fuel filter isn't full of water. On EFI models, it's located on the side of the engine.

    • @vassilyknigge850
      @vassilyknigge850 2 роки тому

      It could be possible that you somehow lost spark VIA some kind of engine safety wire like a coolant temp wire that would remove spark if it goes over a certain temp. So pull a spark plug and plug it back in the spark plug wire and place the plug on a good ground like a bolt into the heads without paint on it and turn thw engine over and see if there is a spark on the spark plug.

    I do have a question, I have a 1996 Mercury 200 hp EFI engine. My 3 gallon tank was about 1/2 empty so I added a gallon of Quick Silver 2 stroke oil to the tank, I had no alarms going off other than the test when you first start the engine. And I did this at the end of the weekend so my boat was on the new lift I just bought and I had lifted the motor up with the power trim and ungauged the lift keeper to keep the motor up out of the water. Anyway the next week when I put the motor down and started the motor the alarm kept on going off beep, beep ,beep never stopping. So I got out the owners manual to see what I should do next. It said to take off the engine cover and see if a small red light was on in the front of the engine , something about water in a filter. But the light was not on, so then it said to check the oil tank on the motor, and sure enough it was almost empty. Well I had put all the oil I had in the remote tank the week before so I had to stop and drive over to the marina and pick up 2 quarts for this small tank. So I got back and added 1 qt. was all it would hold, the float on mine was on the fill cap. and when I started the motor the test alarm sounded and then went silent as normal. So what's my problem ? Is it my oil pump that's suppose to pump from the remote tank up to the smaller tank on the engine or is there something else that could be causing this problem? Please reply so I can maybe do some testing on it. Please call me @ 573-808-4954 and leave me a message and I will gladly return your call. Thanks, Tracy

    • @ja.k.triggered5826
      @ja.k.triggered5826 5 років тому +3

      Tracy the alarm can be oil level or water but being the light wasn't on then it your oil level. Always keep oil in both tanks full at all times. The oil tank on the engine has the oil level sensor on it. Now when you add oil to the main tanks the larger tanks always get air out of system. This is done by starting the engine and remove the cap off the tank that's on the engine till oil starts to come out the top then put cap back on and off you go as long as no leaks. P.s. if ever you see the red light it's water in big filter with 1 wire hooked to blue probe on bottom. Hope this helps

      The boat will run about 4000 RPM/ 35 mph with a 3 beep alarm intermittently which stayed on until we loaded and shut off the motor. I like this motor and want to maintain it correctly. Thank you
