I am Marine tech I have a customers 150 2005 optimax has sat since 2019 part of the service was to pull the main oil tank and dump the oil and clean Its a good thing I did it was ransit and nasty the boat was uncovered it was a light amber colored and stunk to high heaven . I took out the tank and dumped it out and cleaned the bottom . I fill it with fresh oil I then dumped the reservoir on the engine I just unbolted it and tipped it up side down and dumped it out. And filled with fresh oil . I had replaced the water pump and flushed the injectors as part of the service. I was just doing the process and I get the two loud beeps running and I shut it down I looked at the tank its full I look at the tank on the engine its full that water pump is flowing so not over heating. I thought its got to be the oil but I have no clue on these systems how they work I think this is 2nd one I have worked on. I did pull the oil lines off the main tank to get the tank out to to dump and flush. I hope I got the hoses back on right I put the blue one on top fitting on the cap but you got me thinking I did not know it had a filter in the bottom I had better pull that and clean the screen . But if the res is full why am I getting the beeping ? I looked at a few videos I guess I need to purge the system? I did not know is had filters either ? I guess I need to tear into this and start doing some major cleaning on the filters and the pick up screen but with the tank on the engine full why the beeps? I did take the tank and turn it up side down to dump it out with the bottom hose still hooked up. I wonder if the sensor is stuck when I turned it upside down? Your video really helped can you check your main tank and tell me does the blue line go on top fitting ? I may have it back wards thats a good idea on checking the flow with the bottle but with my tank on the engine full dont know why its beeping unless the sensor stuck when I dumped it ? I have very little experence with these systems

It's always usually a fuel/oil filtration prob with boats. I have a Yamaha and had the same symptoms as you were experiencing but I didn't want to chime in and shoot you in the wrong direction, but for me it was inline filters in my oil system when my alarm was going off and got me stranded. The Yamaha oil system is different but the filtration is the same.... Change all filters every year.. Good fuel and filtration and additives will bring you a long way and regular maintenance on these older 2 strokes is essential in less breakdowns.

That is great advice. It’s on my list to do every year going forward.

Thr problem I had was heavy oil and clogged intake screen. The viscosity of the omnimax oil
and intake screen are a very close match at low temps
Doesn't leave much room for oil flow . We use this boat for searching rescue. And in the cold weather I use a high quality snowmobile oil

We ended up replacing the oil lines and the air check valve. Runs great now.

@@SteveSRandomStuff where is that air check valve? I tried looking on my 250 and cant find it.
I do have air pumping so I dont think that is the issue.

@@ronstewart4241 on my motor it’s on the starboard side of the engine on the crankcase near the oil pump.
