@@mehmjb86 You're absolutely right, it's (Michel Qissi)Tong Po! I hadn't noticed, he appears here like in the movie "Bloodsport" playing the role of Parades!🙂
2:44 - 3:07 the best part of that scene (besides Van Damme in his spandex of course). Bruno = Legend. Breakdancing seemed so much fun back then when it was developing compared to today's hyper technical gymnastics that qualifies for the Olympics.
I was a breaker growing up, so I love this era as much as anyone but as far as innovation have you seen what modern breakers can do? They have innovated into far beyond what I even thought was possible.
Rip ozone 🇬🇧, every week I used to go down the video shop on my bmx in the 80s to hire this out, I hired it that much that the lady gave me the copy ☮️
Jean claude Van Damme and the big one next to him is Mohamed Qissi, the famous "Tong Po" from Kickboxer, this is their first appearance in the cinema as an extra 😎😎
yeah. most know about Van Dammes cameo but this the first time I noticed Qissi next to him. Lol. I noticed his hair cuz its kinda iconic, he has the same haircut in Bloodsport.
Yeah, both Van Damme and Qissi were friends from back in Belgium. They decided to move to Hollywood together and I think this was the first movie they appeared in
I remember watching this as a kid and thinking... "That dude in the beret is too good. Turbo and Ozone y'all can't beat him" 😂. Rip Taco. But Turbos boogie down scene made me stand up trying to copy him. Classic
My dad passed away, I am 48 years old. He took me to see this movie when I was a kid. I just saw this video on UA-cam and I felt like calling him to ask him for forgiveness for bringing him to watch this thing at the theater but I can't! 😭
Everybody in the movie theater in '84(I saw it in the theater as a youth) knew that the "energy" had changed when Pop'n Taco and Pop'n Pete stepped into that circle.... Ozone knew that was his hindparts... That's why he split. On gang.
for all the old skateboarders watching this, at 3:14 is the old launch ramp where they put the big trash can barrels on their sides and ollie over them. You had just a little bit of skill if you took on 1 or 2 of those. Those were the days.
This movie is one of my favorite ❤️ so good. It is a masterpiece. All actors/ dancers to include Van Damme is awesome. Cali started to make inter-racial relationships 👍🏽 that movie ‘Breakin’ is not exception. Turbo is all grown up but he is the ⭐️. That Puerto Rican dancer was legend😊❤❤❤
In the realm of Dance, Popping and Bboying metaphorically speaking can express the most shit-talking energy, its nothin to fuck wit haha. All confidence baby. Rest well, Adolfo 'Shabba Doo' Quiñones and Bruno 'Poppin Taco' Falcon. Thank you for everything you've continue to inspire.
Anyone now the name of the song... in the beginning, this movie still gets me!!! Wish I was in the era of all this dance happening, til this day I still dig it!!!
Also, came to comment again --- this was the finest 9 minutes in all of dance films. You catch a glimpse of the world of street dance (in Cali) through the lens of Kelly, a dancer who grew up in dance classes. You get a feeling of the heat of battle, competition, and classism. Yet at the very end of this clip, Turbo had already revealed how talented he particularly was, no matter the music, and made sure it was clear he was quite so, just as if not more, valuable than the man who ran the class. All them of course, are fine dancers. Including the teacher of the class if you've seen Center Stage.. but this was a movie about "breakdancing" as the media would put it. All of the defined styles and forms are more clear cut today, as cameras and social media bring it closer to eyes. Ozone to me seemed like a Locker at heart, but could do other styles of course. Turbo was a jack-of-all-trades. This is quite prevalent today almost, but it is overshadowed by the (rap) music and social dances today.

The complete obliviousness Jean Claude has to have regarding his dancing ability must be out of the charts. He is up front looking like Elaine form Seinfeld while surrounded by dancers on the cutting edge of what was popping back then.

I find it interesting how humble Van Damme's entry into the movie industry involved getting onto movie sets as just some ordinary bystander.
You can bet this was very early for him. Martial arts and auditions probably filled his days.
